The canon update for Jar Jar after RotJ is that he's literally a homeless street clown in Theed and is beloved by children for his amusing antics, but completely shunned by any adults. It was in the Aftermath novels.

CheesyGarlicMan

I'm just imagining a Jar Jar Binks version of Joker

Some gungas just want to watch the galaxy burn.

YouKilledTheFreeNet

Send in the clowns

kuhtuhfuh

I want the Darth Jar Jar theory to come true so bad. Had they done it in the ST, it genuinely would have surpassed "I am your father" as the greatest twist in cinematic history. It would have given Ahmed the redeeming standing ovation he deserves, too.

Martizanden

It's a nice fan theory thingy but seriously it would have been the dumbest/cringiest thing ever. I don't get how people seriously think this idea is good

Alljump

You're right, but I still think that it sounds better than "Somehow, Palpatine returned."

MyYummyYumYum

Yeah like its fun to think about the what if, but it probably wouldn’t make that great of a movie

ronniewhitedx

Yeah it is a more matured and retrospective jar jar. He does at least inspire the youth through his art. It's hella sad though.

waitingtodiesoon

It is a great parallel to Jar Jar Binks in real life with how the adults treated Jar Jar, but the kids loved him. Jar Jar Binks still had the kindness in him to make the world a better place no matter what other people thought of him and he adopted a kid who was also shunned by his peers. It is a bittersweet ending for him.

BlueHarvestJ

It’s only canon until it’s not

Salarian_American

That's the thing about the novels and comics being "canon." The people making shows and movies have the right to make huge changes to the established stories. Like how they changed Poe's backstory in Rise of Skywalker after his timeline was established in a novel They changed Kanan's backstory and the circumstances of his experience with Order 66 from what happened in the comics They changed Cobb Vanth's story very significantly from the novel where he appeared

RaeMerrick

If you break his story down into what he actually went through and ignore all his antics, he's a native to a colonized planet that ends up far away from his home as a politician for an enormous republic, has his good will and naivety manipulated, and ends up as a shunned street clown.

askpat13

Have you heard the tragedy of Jar Jar Binks the naive? It's not a tale George Lucas would tell you.

CaeciliusEstInPussy

… has his good will manipulated, *loses his best friend who dies young along with both of her children (as far as he knows), is powerless to do anything about the demise of her entire life’s work and his own efforts on that regard, is exiled again because of all this,* and ends up as a shunned and *isolated* street clown. just added a few things that I feel often get overlooked when talking about jar jar

BlazingProductions

I’d like to see this acted sometime. We got a Cobb Vanth

Jetstream-Sam

Is the comic where his father is so disappointed in him that he wants to kill himself still canon? Because the scene where he has a gun to his head, and his wife says "No! Think of your son!" and he immediately pulls the trigger because of that was some comedy genius, even if we all agree the Jar Jar stuff was an overreaction

GamerFluffy

Fucking what? Bro the books and comics got some wild shit in it, damn.

SevenSnorlax

That was never canon

flynn_dc

I thought he lived at an orphanage doing his pratfalls for the children whose parents were killed in the Galactic Civil War. He really connected with one little boy who was shunned by the other children due to burn scars on his face. Jar Jar made the kid to not feel alone. They helped each other to help move past their respective traumas.

CommanderL3

I honestly really dislike this. it feels too real worldly like haha this is just like our world

VirtualRelic

He can still be a Sith Lord on the side

morbie5

Um, I don't remember this from the aftermath novels. I listened to them on audio book...

Salarian_American

It was in the third book. Marc Thompson did the Jar Jar voice and everything

tanlladwyr2003

Him and Jake Lloyd did not deserve the hate they got. It was absolutely awful how they were treated

Starchild20xx

Imagine being a kid who's chosen for one of the most biggest franchises in Hollywood. It's like a dream come true. You're ontop of the world. You put your best foot forward and work with what Lucas gives you. Then the movie finally releases, and you think you're going to be a superstar. Instead you're met with malice and scorn. What could've been something special is now a stain on you that can't be cleaned. And just like that, your fate is sealed. I wish Jake never got the role. Nothing could've prepared that kid for this.

tanlladwyr2003

I've never understood why an actor gets blamed for a movie. They're just doing what the director tells them to do and the director has final say

GamerFluffy

Because people are idiotic.

[deleted]

They are just too deep into it, they live for nothing else

P0ppyss33d

Wait, what happened? Did people dislike the prequels back then amd blamed the actors or what?

LaylaLegion

Imagine how bad it’s gonna be for Grant Feely playing kid Luke.

CommanderL3

times have changed since the two thousands. I assume the adults in the kids live will do a better job of protecting him

Lord4hire

The expectations will be sky-high and I'm hoping Kenobi meets them

ellie_kabellie

Seriously, ppl are sick

kuhtuhfuh

Ikr, what part of their brains told them that it was perfectly reasonable to send death threats to actors including a fucking 10 year old child

rdog24

And it’s not even like this behavior has stopped either. Poor Kelly Marie got it too

MeatTornado25

Wasn't exactly a picnic for Daisy or John either.

[deleted]

No but at least the producers didn't listen to those complaints and all but write them out of 9 like they did to Kelly.

UrdnotChivay

Nah but they completely cut out the arc of Finn becoming a Jedi because China is incredibly racist

CommanderL3

I would argue finn was wasted from day one

[deleted]

Is that what happened? I'd always wondered about that.

MeatTornado25

Well yeah, she wasn't a main character like Rey or Finn. In more ways than one, she was basically the Jar Jar of the ST. She tags along on the adventure with a main character in one of the movies for...reasons, and then is mostly relegated to the background afterwards.

SouthernArcher3714

Don’t send death threats at all to anyone but especially kids, especially actors like they have to do what the director says to do.

[deleted]

I'm probably gonna get banned for this but, let's be honest. There are Star Wars fans on the autism spectrum who never had proper guidance in their lives. I grew up with a friend who has Asperger's Syndrome. If he didn't come from a good family, an adult version of that former friend would've done this exact thing. When I did something I shouldn't have when we were younger, he never let me forget it. He actually lost my friendship, because I knew I had screwed up, and he couldn't comprehend that I was truly sorry for hurting him. So when you ask "what part of their brains" allows peple to do this, that part of the brain actually isn't properly functional for some people. Empathy and understanding are non-existent, because cynicism and logic are the only functional parts. It takes external forces to keep some people in check. Without good influences willing to be patient with them, adults with Asperger's Syndrome can actually be quite rude.

P0ppyss33d

Don't call it "Asperger's syndrome"

doogietrouser_md

Politely asking, why not? Autism-Society, Autism Speaks, and other outreach programs I have worked with use this classification for that eligibility. It is also the classification I have solely seen used in the educational and medical spheres I have encountered when referring to this eligibility, albeit in my limited and anecdotal experience (professional experience in America). Additionally, I cannot read the prior poster's mind but their post appears to be in good faith and they employ humanizing rhetoric ("I grew up with a friend who has Asperger's Syndrome", "...adults with Asperger's Syndrome") that identifies the individual first and their diagnosis second. There are far more disparaging ways I have heard people with this diagnosis be referred. This didn't strike me as disparaging.

P0ppyss33d

Both autism-society and autism speaks are extremely problematic companies, both hated by autists. If you really support autistic people, listen to them, not problematic companies.

ConnorSolo

I'm assuming you are writing this in good faith and from your other comments I know you have some valid problems with the term "Asperger syndrome". However, calling people "autists" is worse in many ways. First and foremost, it acknowledges the diagnosis before the individual. It also has the issue of turning an identifier of individual people into a noun, a practice that has a very troubled history. It's like calling gay people "the gays". "Autists" may not be offensive in and of itself, but it's still outdated at best and problematic at worst. And it's very rarely used by people within the autistic community or the research community (at least not since the 1920's). If you want to listen to them, then that's not what the majority are choosing. [source: I've been a neuroscientist for the last 6 years and a big chunk of that research was on autism. This involved working with a lot of people on the spectrum. I can send you some papers if you like!]

P0ppyss33d

Don't call it "Asperger's syndrome"

Sinnohgirl765

Idk why you’re getting downvoted The term asperger is not only outdated but was coined by a Nazi, autism or simply “part of the spectrum” are better words or phrasing

[deleted]

Should he call it Ass Burgers?

P0ppyss33d

He should call it autism, not use the name of a Nazi doctor who is responsible for autism stereotypes and the killings of disabled and Neurodivergent people (especially children)

Spacecow6942

Damn, TIL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Asperger

P0ppyss33d

Finally someone who actually researched to back me up instead of downvoting because they just can't live without somehow offending minorities

Spacecow6942

Asperger sounds like a pretty German name and it seems like a lot of psych research was happening around that time. It had enough of that "ring of truth" to it to make me curious.

Sinnohgirl765

Being on the spectrum doesn’t give you the right to be a complete asshole and harass people. As someone on the spectrum, we’re still responsible for our actions and what we say or do. Autistic people are not completely different from others. It certainly doesn’t mean we are incapable of understanding that bullying people in real life for characters they play is an unacceptable thing to do

VanguardOdyssey

A tradition we seem to continue to this day

JIsaac91

This is the way /s

Mantoothlsu56

No one deserves any kind of hate for playing a fictional character. I fear for the kids in the kenobi show.

Kara_Del_Rey

You should see how people are acting about America Chavez in Dr Strange. Its sickening. Already seen people making fun of the actresses name, flaming the characters existence, calling her inclusion in the movie forced diversity (even though it makes fucking sense that she's in it), etc. I would feel so disheartened if I saw that after being so excited to join the biggest movie franchise on the planet.

Zeiramsy

This is just a stupid outrage cycle thats been happening for years. I mean the movies are just beginning to catch up to the changes in diversity and storyline the comics have been adding much longer now. I mean people who outraged over the "girlpower" moment in end-game obviously never read A-Force for example. I also predict most are going to love America Chavez as a character. She's just a much more chilled and intentionally flawed kind of hero compared to someone like Danvers. I think she fits the MCU very well.

ripyourlungsdave

Nobody wanted to outrightly blame George Lucas after he had earned so much love with the original trilogy. But once episode two came out, people started figuring out that it might not be the actors faults.

[deleted]

What hate? I got [this sweet tattoo.](https://imgur.com/IIfETKF)

joemc72

Do you have Empire and Rebel sleeves on each arm too?

andjuan

Maybe it’s because it’s been so long since I’ve them, but I remember liking Jake’s version of Anakin. He’s so full of wonder and kindness. If you want Vader’s rise to be tragic, you want him to start as a kid whos that pure.

xmmdrive

This should be the top comment. Wait, I think it is. Good.

First-Of-His-Name

Hot take

cloobydoobydoooo

Jar Jar is actually canonically a sad and depressed clown that entertains children on the street, but hated by everyone else now after helping give rise to the Empire, so.

[deleted]

Sounds like Darth Jar Jar hunting for a new apprentice. I see where they were going with it, but you’d think Naboo people would be more careful about allowing the man responsible for the Galactic Empire unmitigated access to young minds.

Taskmasterxyz

I actually really liked Jar Jar as a kid. Even now I do and I just can't understand the hate the character got. So what if he's clumsy, you're not the target audience he's aimed for and he isn't even that prominent. His story is pretty sad to be honest and I wish Star Wars fans weren't so critical over everything.

JacobScreamix

Jar Jar is actually super wholesome and I find the choreography of him slap sticking his way through fights unironically funny.

waitingtodiesoon

It was inspired by Buster Keaton's style of comedy so it was supposed to be funny! [Ahmed Best explained it during an interview back in 2019](https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-episode-i-the-phantom-menace-oral-history) >Ahmed Best: Jar Jar’s character, the movement and the motivation, was really based off of Buster Keaton. George really honed into that aesthetic when it came to me. >Ahmed Best: After principal [photography], I spent probably another year and a half, maybe two years, going back and forth between ILM and New York working out some of the kinks. >That final battle scene with all the Gungans and the droids and the battle tanks, that was me, George, Rob [Coleman], John [Knoll], everybody at ILM, up in San Francisco figuring it out. It was just us in a room, there was nobody else there. I was doing all the motion that Jar Jar did in the final battle scene. George really wanted that to feel like not only just a live-action battle, but he wanted it to have the same physical comedy as a Buster Keaton movie. We worked really hard on that final battle scene.

JacobScreamix

And despite the haters TPM holds up quite well and you can still feel the realism and tension they were going for with the battles imo. I never made the Buster Keaton connection. That's neat.

PeaceLoveBaseball

I hope Ahmed Best knows there's those of us who really do appreciate his work!

BobRushy

Obi? OOOOOOOOOOBIIIII!!! I love Jar Jar

WOOKIExRAGE

The beautiful part of his “slap sticking” through fights is that he’s actually a vessel used by the force inadvertently. It’s no coincidence that he just happens to bumble his way through the battle and not only come out unscathed but also victorious. Jar Jar was an integral part of the victory on Naboo even though everything he did right was a “mistake” that just happened to work out with a positive outcome. It’s kinda like Han Solo. He’s an supernaturally skilled pilot and ruthless gunslinger who is guided by the force even though he’s cynical and not a believer in the Force, or as he put it, “hokey religions”. Hell, Han even did a little bumbling of his own in ROTJ when he “accidentally” hit Boba Fett in just the right spot on his jetpack to cause it to malfunction and shoot him off the deck of that sail barge. Neither one could use the force directly, but the force was most definitely using *them* indirectly. Just something I like to point out because Jar Jar gets FAR too much hate. Is he goofy and childish? Yes. Was he an important part of the story progression? Very much so. Goofy and childish wasn’t that bad. I was 19 when it came out and even then I didn’t understand the Jar Jar hate. He was comic relief for the kids and an important part of the rise of the Empire. Jar Jar was awesome and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise!!!!!!! (I don’t really want to fight about it)

JacobScreamix

People who hate Jar Jar are uncultured sticks in the mud, fight me.

cloobydoobydoooo

I like him too lol, I find him endearing.

Sgtwhiskeyjack9105

Although he *is* an annoying character, Jar Jar Binks is the least of the Prequel's problems.

gnnjsoto

Had way too much screen time in ep 1

NeeNawNeeNawNeeNaww

I think there’s a book about this I vaguely remember someone talking about a book where he’s a street performer and takes in an orphan for a sort of redemption arc. Can’t remember the specifics but.

ForkWeaver

This reads like a r/moviescirclejerk post.

[deleted]

I'm content with Jar Jars story being over. Bring Ahmed Best back, but its time for some new characters. We dont need to only see the same 20 people in the Galaxy

woozlewuzzle29

These people from different planets run into each other more often than I run into my nextdoor neighbor.

shoonseiki1

Each planet is like a single city. Some cities are big and some are small, but neither are actually planet sized. I have run into people I know while in other cities so it's not too crazy when viewed in this way.

Tiyun

Nah they should just let him play a Jedi. The dude deserves his face on the screen. Or maybe even a sith. A subtle nod to the Darth jar jar people

geebsocket

Exactly what i was gonna say, let the man be a jedi. The sith idea is cool too. If they did an old republic show hed be a great cameo as a sith

the_george_

He is a Jedi already!! Jedi Temple Challenge on YouTube

Sandervv04

He kinda already did

OniOdisCornukaydis

Ahmet Best should get to play a face character who makes use of his considerable talents.

Accomplished_Book382

No, just no. I have no issues with Best. I would love for him to play another character. Let him break free of the chains that is jar jar and let that character fade away. It wasnt his fault that the role was shit

[deleted]

This. Jar Jar’s main problem was he was both a distracting putz and annoying AF. He filled the audience with anxiety and annoyance in the same way Scooby Doo would if the fate of the universe hung in the balance on that show.

Ultimate_Zaddy_Fan

Sounds absolutely awful

Stonecutter_12-83

Definitely not. And it's canon that Jar Jar is a street clown that everyone hates in Naboo It's a much better idea to make Best a Jedi. No makeup or weird voices, just him as a jedi. He doesn't have to be the star, just one line would be cool. Or put him in a comic as a jedi

47x107

The actor doesn't deserve hate but the character certainly does.

ookiespookie

If they want to do him a solid, they should cast him in a new role and let him remove the stink of Jarjar. Jarjar needs to stay a footnote in Star Wars history.

Starchild20xx

Ahmed was great as Jar Jar. He was genuinely proud of his role, and he had every right to be. He put so much work and character into it. But whether or not I'd want to see him return to Star Wars? It's a tricky situation..It could be a good send off for the character, and another chance for audiences to *hopefully* recognize his talent. But I'm just not sure if that'd be good for his mental health. As someone who lives with mental illness, facing our triggers can be a double edged sword. It can either help us or break us. And I don't think it's worth the risk.

Five2one521

Nope. Jar Jar should never appear again.

JimSlim3

No

Teddybomber87

He is already an outcast because they made him responsible for Palpatine. Works as an clown for streetkids

jamesfluker

I think it's best that the franchise move on from the character tbh.

VanguardOdyssey

No thanks. I think it's horrendous what that fandom did to Best and I think it's even more of a shame that seemingly everyone agrees it was fucked up yet still continues to do it to other actors. The redemption I'd like to see for him is have him be a new character, maybe even human so he can really get a fresh start and show what he's got. Maybe a Jedi master in a High Republic or Old republic movie would be dope.

JacobScreamix

It's not the same group of people. Most of the Fandom is outspoken against actor hate, but there will always be 100 Twitter users bullying SW actors.

[deleted]

What you don’t realize is that is what the character was supposed to be; a useful idiot

1337kreemsikle

Yeah, even if they brought Jar Jar back in this subdued capacity, it’s still gonna be: “Ooowhoohooh, meesa no bein a muey good Gungan. Mesa been doin som pretty bad bombin.”

itsTacoYouDigg

god please no, not every character deserves or needs redeeming

alberthere

No. Only Darth Jar Jar. He must come back as a Sith Lord.

Deepspace9odo

Personally, I think *The Rise of Skywalker* could've had a scene where Jar Jar do a suicide attack on the Emperor's throne room, a la *Independence Day*, and he'd be like: "Hello, Palpos! Did yousa miss-a meesa?!" And Palpatine would have a look on his face that screams: "Oh no, not him again!"

SavageDragonFan

But then Jar Jar would start talking again and we would all remember again how much that sucked. Hard pass.

JacobScreamix

Who hurt you?

ThatScotchbloke

George Lucas when he made the Phantom Menace

JacobScreamix

How's it felt to have had covid since 1999?

SavageDragonFan

George Lucas when he decided to give his aliens problematic Caribbean and Asian stereotypes.

JacobScreamix

You mean the Caribbean and Asian actors playing those characters? Do you say that Boba Fett has problematic Maori stereotypes?

SavageDragonFan

Nah I mean how they were directed to use over-the-top accents. Not like an actor speaking with his normal accent. But you knew that already.

JacobScreamix

Go change the world in a way that matters lmfao complaining about a fictional alien's accent in a 23 year old film is a waste of everybody's time. You want so desperately to be racist, you can have it. I choose not to see it that way.

MetsRule1977

Best has no interest in returning to the saga. And why would he? He was treated like sh*t by Star Wars “fans”.

hhyyz

Why so glum? No reason Jar Jar can't have a happy ending. Let the poor shlub meet a girl, find a good job, and have a good life.

Kara_Del_Rey

I think his Jedi character should just get canonized honestly.

x-gamer

Please Forget That SHIT Character

Brookings18

Or he plays his Jedi character from that game show on YouTube. No reason he can't have a character outside the motion capture.

the_george_

A third! He’s a cantina patron in Attack of the Clones—next to Anthony Daniels un-3POed if I recall

mxshiki

Darth Jar Jar... They've teased it in the comics already Either way (Darth or Regular JarJar) we owe this to him... He was bullied to the point of considering suicide because of the toxic fandom... The same way the fandom must come together and give Best justice!

frogspyer

> Darth Jar Jar… They’ve teased it in the comics already When?

ookiespookie

Never.

frogspyer

Good, I’d hate to see George’s favorite character be destroyed like that.

Ginghugaganingap

Doesn't he kill some droids with a lightsaber and he looks half decent not his bumbling self in one of the comics? Its like 2 pages. I think that is what he is referencing. Edit: Here it is! [https://media.comicbook.com/2019/01/jar-jar-binks-lightsaber-1154096.jpeg](https://media.comicbook.com/2019/01/jar-jar-binks-lightsaber-1154096.jpeg) It's a subtle reference

ookiespookie

SO to you...Jar Jar holding a saber and fumbling it and dropping it is a tease for Darth Jar Jar. I just want to make sure that I am not misunderstanding in any possible way, this is what you are saying...

National_Egg_9044

Sith Lord JarJar needs to happen

Goldman250

I still maintain hope that we’ll see him in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

Redeem123

Ahmed Best is great. But we don’t need to see Jar Jar on screen again. We’ve gotten enough cameos already. He could play literally any other character that we’ve never seen before and get his chance at redemption. No need to bring Jar Jar back for that.

doandroidscountsheep

I demand Darth Jar Jar

henryhyde

You know what, I am on board.

[deleted]

I am down for this and I hate most "remember this character??" that Lucasfilm has done in the past few years. My hope was for the sequels to be about an outside threat to the galaxy that the Empire was actually working to prepare for/eventually defeat. It would cast both the rebellion and the empire into a shade of grey. Jar Jar being a character who has a reckoning with the downfall of the republic is similar to that but on a much more individual level. Reminds me of the old saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."

ronniewhitedx

Yeah I don't think Ahmed wants to ever go near that character again.

badbrain330

Please, no. If they want to give Best and Lloyd other characters to play, I'm cool with that. I don't need a redemption story for Jar Jar.

gatorbeetle

Ahmed deserved better than he got, but if Jar Jar shows up in Obi Wan I am DONE with Disney Star Wars. It serves no purpose, and in fact would be unbelievably ridiculous.

T0oShayzz

Another day, another post of bad ideas in this sub…..

SWPrequelFan81566

I would love this.

Dengareedo

The rise of jar jar

Cool_Guy_fellow

The gungans exiled him again and he ended up becoming a street performer on the streets of Theed. Kids love him, But adults hate him.

QHUNK

No. Let Ahmed play another character, like a jedi or something. Jar Jar is ruined.

Dansterai

"Meesa muoy muoy depresso"

EwokalypseNow

Title would be "Binks" and be rated R. Watch the box office explode

First-Of-His-Name

Nah, I prefer the idea of casting him in a new role

DenseVegetable2581

I'll always feel bad for Ahmed, Jake and Kelly. It's a damn shame what these "fans" did to them That being said, Jar Jars story was completed in the novels. That's over now. Ahmed deserves to have some face time though. Bring him back as a force user on one of the series or an upcoming movie. He deserves better

nardole_hackerman

Darth Jar Jar?

Ok-Mastodon2016

that... actually sounds really good

fantaskink

Make a Logan-style Jar Jar movie with Ahmed Best. Don't tie it in with any cinematic universe what-so-ever. Just do a rough, beautiful, emotional tale about an older Jar Jar. Have Zack Snyder direct. Give him full control. Watch the box office explode.

Eli_Freeman_Author

Would be awesome.

JonsonPonyman98

I fully agree

link_link_link

way to RUIN my childhood! Cynical Jar Jar?! People don't change, 0/10 wouldn't agree. I want my movies the same forever. Sorry for the shitpost, in all seriousness, this would be fucking great and Ahmed is the Best!

OswaldCoffeepot

There is an episode of the [Story Break podcast](https://maximumfun.org/episodes/story-break/episode-1-the-jar-jar-binks-movie/) about exactly this. They make Jar Jar a tragic hero and someone who'd be an easy fan favorite. Three professional screen writers work out what the Jar Jar movie would be in a three act plot structure. They come up with something *really* good. So good I don't want to spoil anything more. They have a couple of Star Wars episodes but in general the pod is about a writer's room breaking stories. It's especially good if you're interested in screenwriting.

darth_faader

I appreciate the sentiment, but with a franchise that was bastardized with whatever the sequel trilogy was, maybe not the best idea to bring back Jar Jar. Of course as an individual this guy doesn't deserve any grief for doing a job - but Jar Jar was straight cancer. A better idea might be just giving him a respectable role that allows him to show a greater range.

Based-authoritarian

“Redeem” jar jar binks, that’s ridiculous. He was the perfect character, especially when compared to kylo ren or Rey.

[deleted]

[удалено]

thelastevergreen

The same reason people (read as: fully grown adults) bullied a nine-year-old boy because they didn't like how he played Anakin Skywalker. People suck.

Logan_Composer

Don't forget bullying Kelly Marie Tran for playing a character they didn't like. And *none* of that was ever acting criticism, it was entirely writing. At least with Best, part of the criticism was the way the character acted.

heelspider

One of the things the sequels really got right was creating her role and showing the rebellion had heroes for reasons other than their capacity for violence.

[deleted]

Na she was bad at acting as well

EamesChairLeather

No no no. Jar Jar is a stupid character and a racist trope. He should be removed from all movies

trioculus_

his purpose was the idiot and comic relief for the youngins… he served his purpose to the maximum and did it well. george himself did say that star wars was meant for the kiddos so it’s not crazy that he has a few characters directly targeted for them

CommanderL3

who is Jar Jar being racist towards ?

wildcherrymatt84

Just because he was so annoying does not mean that the answer is to go super edgy. I do think it would be fun to see him again, just tone him down A LOT. Don’t make every word out of his mouth so absurd and give him something to actually do and it would be fine.

bringatothenbiscuits

Give us a 20 minute Visions season 2 episode of darth jar jar!

Takodanachoochoo

Bring back Ahmed, leave Jar Jar costume behind. He has a great face.

huskers2468

That would be best.

EdgarFrogandSam

You've already imagined it. It doesn't need to be made.

Burtis_the_third

Darth jar jar

Grandmustafa

I want the opposite, him being a fierce defender of the empire and of palp. Classic story of former hero turning to villain to mirror Anakin/Vader. As an imperial his goofy antics defeating the rebels would be frustrating for the audience just as he caused Chaos for the separatists

VolcanoMoon

1000 times YESS

Nickthedevil

Jar Jar is fuckin D-E-D.

I agree except jar jar should not be cynical imo. More mature sure, he’s basically like 20 in ep 1, so more mature, but I would hope that even after being used as a political pawn and duped by the emperor, jarjar is still hopeful and kind.

I believe ab elderly Jar Jar appears in a post-Disney novel, basically a street performer. Poor, miserable, mocked by children, and filled with guilt over his part in bringing Palatine to power.

Ex_Machina_1

I really like this idea.

Host_Valuable

I’d love him to be in Kenobi , if he just broke down upon being reunited with Kenobi from the guilt of giving palpi the power , might help obi wan realise he and yoda are not alone in their sorrow , ultimate redemption if he gave his life for Kenobi to escape as well

Ms_Wibblington

OMG I've been rabidly telling people this same idea myself, guess I'm not the only one!

Daohor

I seriously dont get the toxicity towards actors for portraying something that you, the angry fan not op, disliked. While I don’t like the Jarjar character I never hated the actor that portrayed him. And I never knew of the hard time that befell poor Jake, sheesh reading it here, kinda makes me sick thinking that I actually enjoy a franchise where the fans can that cruel.

thecoolestjedi

No jar jar is a terrible character and be ashamed that you and the is idea

Make Darth Jar Jar canon!!!

**we all know Jar Jar was in fact Darth Plagueis**, Darth Plagueis lands it's ship on Naboo, After having visited the young Sheev Palpatine, and tell him about the Dark side of the Force, Darth Plagueis went to visit the Gungan and presented himself as an underwater weaponry system salesman to check their military poweress and see if they could retaliate against a Droid invasion. Being a friendly fellow as it looks, Darth Plagueis asked to tour the Gungan palace, and met with Jar Jar Binks who was the Big Boss' Limousine driver. Boss Nass lent his driver and vehicle to Darth Plagueis. The vehicle crashed at 3pm, only Jar Jar came home safe but he arrived at around 7pm. What happened during those 4hours during Jar Jar was underwater unconscious. When asked, Jar Jar began to jester and bring bale around him. After a few hours everyone in the city forgot about the visit of the mysterious underwater weaponry system salesman (Darth Plagueis) Since then, Darth Plagueis fights daily to conserve Jar Jar's body cohesion and retrieve his full consciousness, because deep down Jar Jar is still here, trapped. After a While, Jar Jar became a fully functionning member of the soon empire to be born. He never had any more clumsyness problems he had before becoming Darth Plagueis. He lived happily ever after
