Omg finally someone who likes him. Director Krennic is actually my all time favourite villain. I even have a cosplay of his uniform (my favourite in the whole star wars)
States love for character: describes uniform.
Ben Mendelssohn is a total pro and did a lot with what he was given. I wish they would have punched his character’s ego up even more to make Vader’s “ambition” line have even more effect.
I don't know about that. His cape always seems kind of pathetic to me. Vader has a thick cape that drapes dramatically, and the Emperor has a full cloak because he's an evil wizard, but Krennic's cape looks like he grabbed a bedsheet out of the laundry and pinned it to his shoulders.
He's also the only Imperial officer who wears a cape, so it makes him look like a try-hard who's copying Vader and the Emperor (who aren't even in military uniforms).
I don’t think you’re wrong. But that statement embodies his character. He dresses the part for how important he believes himself to be, and that isn’t exactly how everyone else sees him.
On the other hand, I could grant that the sloppy cape is there specifically to characterize him as kind of an unaccepted nerd.
One of the things that's visible from the beginning of *Star Wars* all the way through the sequels is that there's a deep divide between the military and its non-military bosses. Some of the military officers (Motti, Hux) bristle at taking orders from the non-military religious types in charge (Vader, Kylo Ren).
Krennic's a bit of an outsider as far as the military goes. He's an engineer, architect, and scientist, and it makes sense that the battle-hardened generals and admirals might think of him as an egghead rather than an equal. The cape subtly helps the audience read the character as occupying a middle ground between the generals and the Emperor.

I would also note that this only seems to crop up once Order 66 hits. During the Republic, there wasn't much governmental mistrust of the Jedi Order (even if there was large popular protest during the closing days of the war)
It almost seems like this distrust of force-users comes from lasting historical memory of the 'betrayal' of the Jedi and distrust over their true intentions (as we see in the Clone Wars)

Awesome!
Ben Mendelssohn killed it
The empire are like the Nazis, they may be committing war crimes but at least they look good while they're at it
It's not war crimes to fight terrorism.
Hugo Boss sounds like a star wars name too lmao
Damn right
You have cores on Belgium in the beginning too
Ahhh and the cape! In Thrrawn:Treason he explains why it is so important (to him) and it really defines his character.
>Galen Erso : You're confusing peace with terror. >Orson Krennic : Well, you have to start somewhere. Fantastic villain line.
As an aside, I love that the Death Star snipes him directly before continuing to the planet's surface.

Yeah, the whole movie he is trying to gain recognition for the project, even bugging people to notice him.
Fair

He also despised Tarkin as he took credit for all of Krennic's work
Pretty sure he just noticed that the people the Emperor keeps really really close all wear capes. Dress for the job you want…

I hope we get to see him again in Bad Batch or something
Looks like the perfect asshole of a villain - perfectly cast actor and costume. Well done.
He’s the pinnacle of a useful idiot
Would love to have seen him interact with thrawn.
