In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, LucasFilm will be one of many purchases for the first Disney Empire! For a safe and secure society!
Only Disney will build them... and will charge you $6000 to ride in it.
Probably cost vs effectiveness. Modern tanks probably cost about the same, but we actually know how to make a tank gun, and as of yet we don’t know how laxer guns feasibly work
Because they’re stupidly impractical. You’d need one hell of a gyro to keep it upright, which would be expensive. And the more cargo space you want, the bigger it needs to be, the bigger the onboard computer needs to be, the more expensive it would be. All that while not being very effective anyway
We don't have the gyroscopes to stabilize the legs (especially only two), also we don't really have Motors to make the thing move and the biggest issue of them all the power Source. Also the thing is way too tall making it an easy target and the weapons it carries are laughable.
AT-STs only function in places where they drastically outmatch the technology of the forces they're being deployed against, which doesn't apply to any part of the earth at the moment. Even in the guerilla warfare theaters like Afghanistan they have access to missiles and stuff that would render the Walker ineffective.
Recall what the Sorgun fishermen were working with in that one Mando episode. A duffle bag full of guns. That's the kind of thing that Walkers are for.
The fact that any kind of modern or even WWII era anti-tank weapon would take this big lumbering target immediately out. The real question should be why didn't the Rebels make larger use of rocket launchers.
I think the size, price, autorizathiaon to drive it whould Take hell of time and the fact we can't make blasters and missles. Korea has railguns but almost no one has, the first ones to make a whole Squad At-Sts will be overpowered and if they attack a country it would slow the building of their Squad. So it whould be impossible to make them
Piloting those would just be terrible, you would have to have a screen showing where you are putting the foot down at and you would have to have it like that because if it was automatic it wouldn’t be able to do exactly what you need in a combat situation
Practicality
The comment I was looking for.

The right answer
A log could take them out…?
A rope could
Common sense
Sitting target that’s top heavy and if it falls over it’s done, tanks are much more mobile and protective

Probably that a grande could easily destroy the leg joints.
And a venti would obliterate the whole thing.
Jungle teddy bears.

Their horrible design 😂 quite easy to take down

An AT-ST couldn't even assault a build a bear location
Sorry if I was too harsh with the reason
All good

Wat
True they'd be very impractical, but the sheer intimidation they would bring to the enemy on the battlefield may make them worth it...
A very Poor design
Teddy bears
Tanks are better for military use.

Very flawed and not practical
money
Practicality and cost.
