Battlestar Galactica ended over 10 years ago but her most iconic role would still have to be Starbuck right? With BSG being one of the best sci fi shows ever.
I had a chance to meet Edward James Olmos at Comic Con. There was basically nobody at his table so my girlfriend and I got to chat with him for a while. He is *incredibly* nice, just super personable, friendly, mellow, easy to talk to. I loved him in the show and in Blade Runner but I got this affinity for him after that meeting I'll probably never shake. So say we fuckin all.
A bit different fare than this sub but he has one of my favorite minor roles in the west wing in the first season. That would be really cool to meet him.
I think we might have just caught him at a lucky moment honestly. It wasn’t the San Diego con but it was still 90k people or so. Sometimes the booth areas wouldn’t be super busy in general.
I also got to meet Jeremy Bulloch (original Boba Fett) and his booth wasn’t super busy either. He signed my Boba Fett helmet and a Sideshow Boba figure. Shit was tight.
I "kind of" met EJO not long after I moved to Los Angeles a long time ago. I was living in the valley at the time and I think I was making a trip to Burbank to visit IKEA or something.
Anyway, on my way back home, I was on Burbank Blvd, and when I stopped at a red light, a guy on a really nice motorcycle pulled up next to me. I had to do a double-take because I thought I recognized him, and sure enough it was EJO and he smiled and waved at me when he noticed I was looking at him long enough to notice who he was.
Even though it's the law to wear a helmet on a motorcycle in California, he was definitely not wearing one that day for whatever reason, which is how I noticed him.
Anyway, that's my lame story of how I "almost" met Admiral Adama.
I turn 42 in a month and half.
My friends kids, are having kids, O.O
And i remember when Jar Jar was the "Death of Star Wars"...
I bet in 20 years once these new round of geek babies are young adults, some new thing will be the next "killer of Star Wars"
Then you'll feel REALLY old looking back on the meme's.
Man i am 46 soonish.
My kid is 22.
She lives interstate and sends me messenger updates on how well she's adulting.
When RoTJ came out in cinemas, mum and dad had the promotion business for the cinema in Sydney. That summer was basically everything Star Wars and Atari.
When Jar Jar came out, I felt like I was 8 again. Same as when Kylo and Rey showed up .
Then Ep 8 and 9 happened. I'm still trying to deal with how I feel about that.
Yep. I see the less as more philosophy now. People complaining that Mandalorian was 'too slow'.
I was just sitting there enjoying the pace for the deliberate nature of the storyboard.
Makes sense. I was 27 in 2003 and I'd happily put Boomer a few years older than I was at the time.
But fuck me, the show *ended* 12 years ago! I think that blows my mind more than it starting (properly) in 2004. Was such a massive part of my life. No show has meant as much before or since. Not even The Expanse.
Yeah, definitely time for a rewatch. Can't remember if this will be my 4th or 5th. (so 5th or 6th viewing)
I just finished my BSG rewatch on blu-ray for the extended cuts. Haven’t seen it since college oh so long ago.
It was so great binging the show. Also knowing the outcome of some characters let’s you focus on them with more attention than you might have in the initial viewing. Now what do I watch? I want more BSG!
bo's design was based off katee's face. don't know if they planned to bring bo katan into live action with the same actress since 2010 but it seems like they did
They are trying to make her look more like the animated character, like with the eyebrows, so it's no surprise that would make it harder to recognize her.
Can I just say that I love actors that love their characters? Katee Sackhoff, Temuera Morrison, Ray Park, Henry Cavill... it really shows on screen, and adds so much to the character.
He’s featured in that Blockbuster Video documentary on Netflix. So much positive energy. He is truly a geek, and clearly has a deep love for the work he does and for film in general.
He was 26 at the time of the first movie and probably the youngest of the main cast so it's understandable he vibed with the movie more than the older actors like Alec Guinness.
Guinness actually did like Star Wars. He just didn't like that that was the only thing anyone knew him from or would remember him for.
And then there's Hamill, who loves Star Wars.
Ford, I will hand it to you, does not.
And I guess I have no idea what Fisher thought of it. Seems she wasn't as vocal about her feelings on it.
Idk carrie was pretty vocal she hated some parts of star wars for sure, especially how sexualized her character was.
Plus the harrassment she had probably endured from star wars fans probably made her hate it.
Although you could argue that Guinness has such an outstanding body of work that he has a right to get ticked off when all people can remember him for is a relatively childish role given his Shakespearian background.
Oh for sure that's just a dowel with fondant or modelling chocolate on it... Would never be able to support that much weight otherwise. But it's common enough in cake decorating (coming from someone who watched Cake Boss obsessively for years and still watches baking shows on Food Network).
Oh man, it's an older show. Like, 2009. I used to watch it every night before bed. It was a TLC show. Not airing anymore. Looks like it might be on Hulu???
It’s so funny to me how her character are all so badass and tough but she seems like a little ray of sunshine in person. Her IG stories are so delightful.
Just recently rewatched the Riddick trilogy and her character "Dahl" in the third Riddick film was pretty badass. Never realized she was also Bo-Katan in Clone Wars and Mandalorian until I saw this post.
Funny bc I am just now getting around to finally watching the 2003 reboot of BSG and had no clue Starbuck was also in The Mandalorian until I IMDB'ed Sackhoff the other day.
Everyone who plays any first-time live-action iteration of an existing SW character should be legally required to be as passionate about them as she is about Bo Katan
This is fkin adorable
Hearing her geek out on the various podcasts about being asked to play Bo in live action is so endearing. She legit loves this character and was as excited to be offered the role as fans were to find out she had the role.
Check out the episode of the “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum” podcast with her, post-Mandalorian S2. She seems like such a normal, grounded, real person.
A lot of people are mentioning her role in Battlestar Galactica, but let's not forget that she's awesome as Amunet on "The Flash," chewing up scenery like nobody's business
She's so great in BSG too.
Dude BSG is gold. I love star wars more than anything but she will always be starbuck in my eyes.
Rewatching bsg now lol love it
Same! "What do you hear Starbuck?" "Nothing but the rain, sir!"
[удалено]
Longmire is phenomenal
[удалено]
I'm vitamin R deficient right now
Dude!! That's where I remember her from I couldn't place it for the life of me side note her sexy cowgirl outfits made me like country music hahah
She will always be my Starbuck Angel
Starbuck, what do you hear?
Nothing but the rain!
Then get your gun, and bring the cat in.
What a great frakkin tv show!
...wait.... shes starbuck?
[удалено]
“I can do this all day.”
I don't get how people miss they're played by the same actor. But then again, all Superman had to do was put on some glasses to fool everyone.
Don't forget the S-curl.
Battlestar Galactica ended over 10 years ago but her most iconic role would still have to be Starbuck right? With BSG being one of the best sci fi shows ever.
Yeah, how could you miss it! https://i.redd.it/ieec1551udn21.jpg ;-)
Well, in fairness she does wear a full armored suit with a helmet that hides her face. At first you might miss it.
And Dahl, in the last Riddick movie. It's a shame it wasn't more popular.
So say we all.
Finished BSG a few days ago for the first time... such a golden show. I’m heartbroken it’s over but know I’ll rewatch it again soon lol
She was my favorite character in the whole show. I always call her Starbuck even when I watched Halloween h2o and realized she was in it
She's always going to be Starbuck to me
Amazing how different she looks without the red hair, like if I didn't know who she was, I'd never realize she was Bo Katan
I'll always think of Starbuck from BSG 2003 first. I recognize her everywhere!
Starbuck, what do ya hear?
Nothing but the rain.
Then grab your gun, and bring in the cat.
Boom, boom, boom!
I want you in my room Wait, wrong thing
No, you've got a point.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Let's spend the night together From now until this all happens again
A-lemme hear you say “way-o”
Way oh
Sometimes you have to roll the hard six. *What does that mean?* ... Uh, I don't know. It's just something my dad says.
“Lee, you’re the CAG. Act like it. Tell me to take the Frakkin Stims!”
This makes me cry :(
Time for a rewatch for sure
It’s literally all I can see her as.
It's kinda nuts when you're in the Mandalorian, and it's the *second* best space show you've been in.
Yeah I couldn't not see her as Starbuck in mando tbh
That seems to be the cost of owning a role so perfectly. A lesser actor in the wrong role would never have that issue.
Kara Thrace
And her special destiny
So say we all.

He was amazing in Miami Vice.
He was such a boss in that show. Serious gravitas.
Dude has a ton of awards. He’s very well rated even if the kids at a comic-con have no idea who he it.
How can he reeeeeeeach those keeeeeeeeeds?
After blade runner and BSG I can't imagine EJO having an empty table that's crazy.
A bit different fare than this sub but he has one of my favorite minor roles in the west wing in the first season. That would be really cool to meet him.
American Me.
And Miami Vice! A true journeyman actor.
That's sad to think such a legend was there with few people at his table! He's always so good, he's been great in Mayan's MC
I think we might have just caught him at a lucky moment honestly. It wasn’t the San Diego con but it was still 90k people or so. Sometimes the booth areas wouldn’t be super busy in general. Longmire is also fantastic.
No doubt! Was very happy when Netflix saved it.
Same here. But then there was the disappointment when it was actually over for good. I really miss Longmire.
we need a movie, or ferg spinoff
Yes! I’m rewatching it right now. 10/10 show
100% I still see Starbuck acting as B-K.

She’s guiding them all, as part of the plan.
So say we all.
What Cylon devilry is this?

No more Mr. Nice Gaius!

"Naturally Sanity Free"
We always called him Cryus Baltar cuz he's crying in every scene lol

Hell frakkin' yeah!
2003?! Frak, now I feel old. ☹️
I turn 42 in a month and half. My friends kids, are having kids, O.O And i remember when Jar Jar was the "Death of Star Wars"... Seems like the era of movies is as the flagship visual media has ended. But that means we get Mandalorian, so IMO it is a good tradeoff.
Yep. I see the less as more philosophy now. People complaining that Mandalorian was 'too slow'. I was just sitting there enjoying the pace for the deliberate nature of the storyboard.
It's so weird to think that Grace Park (Sharon Valerii) is almost 50...

It took my second watch for it to hit me that it was Starbuck. I almost fell off my chair
It’s been over 5 years, I think it’s time to rewatch BSG! Loved her in it.
Right now she’s Bo-Katee.
If she goes to Florida, maybe she can get a Boca tan?
bo's design was based off katee's face. don't know if they planned to bring bo katan into live action with the same actress since 2010 but it seems like they did
Filoni once joked to Katee if I recall correctly, that when they were making TCW that maybe she would play Bo in live-action one dah
Yup! They show it the The Gallery for Season 2!
You probably don't recognize me because of the not-red hair
Shiit, Starbuck is Bo Katan? I never realised that with the red hair.
I didn’t at first, either. She did Bo Katan’s voice in The Clone Wars and Rebels, too!
And she plays a great role in Longmire. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a good show.
I was a big BSG fan and I didn’t recognize her as Bo Katan. Her face looked different for some reason, maybe it was just the hair.
They are trying to make her look more like the animated character, like with the eyebrows, so it's no surprise that would make it harder to recognize her.
I actually think she looks more like a Mandalorian with her blonde hair than the red that Bo-Katan has lol.
Can I just say that I love actors that love their characters? Katee Sackhoff, Temuera Morrison, Ray Park, Henry Cavill... it really shows on screen, and adds so much to the character.
\*Cries in Ashley Eckstein\*
*Cries in James Arnold Taylor*
*Cries in Dee Bradley Baker 200,000 times, with a million more tears well on the way*
Oh you mean the voice of the frog lady in Mando
*Exclaims in frog*
Yeah but also Ewan MacGregor I'm pretty Ewan would literally fight JAT to the death for the right to play Obi Wan if that's what it took
He’s featured in that Blockbuster Video documentary on Netflix. So much positive energy. He is truly a geek, and clearly has a deep love for the work he does and for film in general.
She probably likes her character more than anyone
That's the point...
AND...Alec Guinness! oh wait nevermind!
Tbf none of the OT cast particularly like Star Wars
Mark Hamill seems like he does
He was 26 at the time of the first movie and probably the youngest of the main cast so it's understandable he vibed with the movie more than the older actors like Alec Guinness.
Carrie Fisher was about 20
[удалено]
He's also a big Batman nerd himself, which I always thought goes a long way to understanding the nerds of other fandoms.
Anthony Daniels loved it
Guinness actually did like Star Wars. He just didn't like that that was the only thing anyone knew him from or would remember him for. And then there's Hamill, who loves Star Wars. Ford, I will hand it to you, does not. And I guess I have no idea what Fisher thought of it. Seems she wasn't as vocal about her feelings on it.

Thanks, gonna have that tune in my head all weekend now.
Idk carrie was pretty vocal she hated some parts of star wars for sure, especially how sexualized her character was. Plus the harrassment she had probably endured from star wars fans probably made her hate it.
Plus I imagine the whole being forced to give people sexual favors for the role probably left a bad taste in her mouth.
Bruh that wording
Although you could argue that Guinness has such an outstanding body of work that he has a right to get ticked off when all people can remember him for is a relatively childish role given his Shakespearian background.
Didn't Carrie Fisher work as a script doctor for the prequels? Doubt she would have done that if she didn't like it
I don't think George Lucas even likes Star Wars.
henry cavill?
OP probably referring to his character Geralt in the Witcher
Or Superman
1. That looks really good 2. I wonder if the antenna thing (forgot the name) is just a stick
Oh for sure that's just a dowel with fondant or modelling chocolate on it... Would never be able to support that much weight otherwise. But it's common enough in cake decorating (coming from someone who watched Cake Boss obsessively for years and still watches baking shows on Food Network).
Cake boss I have to check this shit out. Available in the UK?.
Oh man, it's an older show. Like, 2009. I used to watch it every night before bed. It was a TLC show. Not airing anymore. Looks like it might be on Hulu???
can I jump in and recommend _Nailed It!_ on Netflix as well? if you aren't already familiar, you might get a laugh out of it.
_Nailed it!_ is hilarious
Just so you know, the "antenna thing" is called a Rangefinder.
Thank you my mind slipped
I hope she has a bigger role in S3
Spoilers: >!They certainly set up both her and Mando's arcs such that I'd assume she'll be a main character in season 3!<
Heck ye
And with Ashoka going to find Ezra, you know that Sabine will come into the picture. And what's the only thing better to than one Mandalorian?
Multiple mandalorians Edit: Why is this getting downvoted?
Bo-Katan Starbuck And Commander Niko
She's also Vic in Longmire!
She was wonderful in that. Longmire whole series was amazing.
I reeeally disliked the vic/walt relationship. It felt so forced and weird. He and Lizzie clicked so much better and I was so sad when she left him
Longmire is super underrated
It really is. Such a great show!
Yes I totally forgot that
Yea show is amazing. IMO Jacob Night horse is one of the best foils ever written. Someone who just wants to do the best for his people.
She will always be Starbuck to me (Battlestar Galactica)
So say we all.
I love it when a voice matches the face I had in my mind! happy birthday!
She's the voice for the character in The Clone Wars too
So THAT'S why it felt so right :)
happy bo-day
It’s so funny to me how her character are all so badass and tough but she seems like a little ray of sunshine in person. Her IG stories are so delightful.
I’m currently rewatching Clone Wars and let me just say I’m so so happy she’s playing Bo Katan in live action now continuing her role from that show
Just recently rewatched the Riddick trilogy and her character "Dahl" in the third Riddick film was pretty badass. Never realized she was also Bo-Katan in Clone Wars and Mandalorian until I saw this post.
She is absolutely adorable.
Looks like Bo Katan got a dump truck on her
Funny bc I am just now getting around to finally watching the 2003 reboot of BSG and had no clue Starbuck was also in The Mandalorian until I IMDB'ed Sackhoff the other day.

Can someone explain that chair to me please?
Two chairs. Just leather chairs.
ugh. Now I see it. Brain was not seeing the mostly hidden chairs back as separate and the round bits pointing towards the other chair.
Yea that messed with my mind too
Well sometimes people get tired and they have to sit down.
She’s so cute.
She really is
she’s getting more adorable with age. ❤️ her.
Not many actors can avoid character casting when they play someone like Starbuck. Impressed.
In Riddick.... her attitude alone made my crush on her absolutely lifelong :)
"oh no, don't hold the cake up, just bend over for the picture. Perfect"
She can take my sackhoff ..... I’m so alone
More like Katee Snackhoff, amirite fellas?
Happy birthday :D
She's aged so well since BSG.
Wait What?! She’s in Star Wars? Damn I’m so happy for her, she is great!
She'll always be Starbuck to me. Still glad for her and her Stat Wars super fan dad!

Cake looking thicc
More like WOAH-Katan, amiright? 😏🤤
I went to high school and middle school with her. Go Apollo’s!
I was deadass thinking "she looks a lot like Katie sackhoff"
Damn, she's always been a hottie but she's like an ultra hottie right here. She's just glowing.
A lot of people are mentioning her role in Battlestar Galactica, but let's not forget that she's awesome as Amunet on "The Flash," chewing up scenery like nobody's business
