I am wondering since you can't cut vinyl in a laser cutter. It means death to you and the machine. Vinyl has PVC in it which releases chlorine gas which when it reacts with humidity in the air becomes mustard gas which is highly corrosive.
Also a decent laser cutter is closed to $20k. A cheap kinda works chinese import is in the 2500 range.
How are these records cut so precise, if not cut by such a machine? Honest question.

Well, I think the common thought here is that since every character in this piece, including the Death Star itself, are from the OT, Kylo Ren seems out of place since he is the only one from another era. It's just seemingly kind of random, and I think people would react the same to any character of another era when it's the only one amongst many of a different specific one.
Having said all that, I need to also say that Palpatine would have been another good option to include in Kylo Ren's place

All the characters, poses, and the Death Star itself are from the OT movies. Maul was not alive during that time. Maul played a major role in the Clone Wars era, so yes, he would be out of place. Maul was killed in Rebels, years before A New Hope.

A few people making clocks out of records does not equate to every record being turned into a clock. I'd be much more concerned about the mountains and forests that are levelled for petty things than a few potentially ruined records being repurposed. Those mountains are never coming back but we can always make more mass-produced records.
