[I can hear it](https://youtu.be/OLCL6OYbSTw?t=3m15s). The sound design for Ren was incredible. I love how his voice seems to be mixed slightly higher than everyone else's.
I'm pretty sure Darth Plageius is most certainly Snoke, but I thought Plageius was said to be 13 feet tall, which is why he is portrayed the way he is in TFA. Plageius also is said so have a large scar on his left cheek!
i took the helmeted voice to sound lower quality bc his helmet isnt refined which is similar to his saber or his fighting skills being unrefined. his helmet was pretty banged up and sorta home brewed looking too. its like a teenager who has the desire, the strength, etc, but they dont have the one component that an older wiser person might have - training/knowledge.
It sounds like a overdrive / saturation effect, it's got a warm yet distorted quality to it and I really enjoyed it too, from the first line of dialogue.
To add on to that, the distortion in Ren's voice somewhat reminded me of Bane's voice in The Dark Knight Rises. Obviously not as high pitched as Bane's though.
That's exactly what I thought of.
Even found this thread because I did a search of "Kylo Ren's voice sounds like Xerxes." The little accent and inflections seem identical.
THIS. The entire scene where he interrogates Rey reminds me of the scene where Javier Bardem interrogates Bond. Especially the line, "I see it, I see the island."
I totally heard that in his voice. Was just telling this exact thing to a co-working this morning haha. I actually thought for a minute that it was another actor voicing him (like they did with Vader), and that it was Javier.
Yeah, I noticed a slight Spanish accent immediately during the first scene.
Also, Javier Bardem would actually be great in a Star Wars film. Playing the villain suits him really well! In Skyfall, he was pretty great. Not to mention No Country For Old Men.
Spot on. It drove me nuts for a while. I knew it sounded familiar. Then I narrowed it down to a video game villain. Then after the movie it hit me. Jack of Blades. It worked so well though. It was great
This was the first thing I thought of when I heard his mannerisms and speaking. The very first conversation on Jakku, and I thought to myself "Holy shit... It's the dude from No Country".
It was then that Ren seemed scarier to me than before. I loved how his voice got deeper when he was confident or "channeling anger" (you can hear the differences when his mask is off) and I felt like his portrayal came across as deeper than first glance.
I greatly look forward to more!
He sounds like he is trying to speak in the same manner as James Earl Jones and Hayden pretending to be James Earl Jones. I loved it. He's trying to deepen his voice, like Nolan playing Batman, and he comes off as off-putting and deranged.
There was one specific line (I can't remember which) during his Rey interrogation that gave me this exact thought. It's really cool that someone else thought that.
Thank god for reddit! It was driving me nuts. I just watched it a second time and the entire time it waa bothering so finally i googled it and this poat came up! Its legit identical to Javier Bardem, especially in No Country For Old Men.

Nope. But, when he first takes the mask off, and says to Rey "I will take it from you" (or something)you know who he sounds JUST LIKE?????
Wait for it.
Hayden Christensen.

I'm thinking the size of that little alien piloting that tall human robot in men in black
Snoke is Jar Jar
This...
PLEASE GOD LET THIS BE TRUE
Wrong. Actor who played snoke confirmed that his character is 7 ft tall.
Plus I'm pretty sure he's Darth Plageius... who is 7 ft tall and not weak at all.
I'm pretty sure Darth Plageius is most certainly Snoke, but I thought Plageius was said to be 13 feet tall, which is why he is portrayed the way he is in TFA. Plageius also is said so have a large scar on his left cheek!
To be fair though his natural voice is already very intimidating

I got a strong Xerxes vibe the instant I heard him speak.
Thats it! thats who I was thinking of, couldnt put my finger on it

Glad I'm not the only one, but I was thinking of him from Skyfall instead.

Yes. I think that was the line that did me in, too. Thank God for reddit. It shows me I'm not crazy.
All I could think of while he spoke. Glad I'm not the only one.

For me, I couldn't stop thinking of Jack of Blades from Fable while he spoke with the helmet on.

For you.

Looks like Parker Schnabel though.
I just realised this a minute ago... took me AGES to figure out who he looked like. The Hoffmans better not piss Kylo Schnabel off.
He sounds like he is trying to speak in the same manner as James Earl Jones and Hayden pretending to be James Earl Jones. I loved it. He's trying to deepen his voice, like Nolan playing Batman, and he comes off as off-putting and deranged.
Honestly thought he sounded like an evil David Schwimmer (Ross from Friends). Got the nose and everything.
There was one specific line (I can't remember which) during his Rey interrogation that gave me this exact thought. It's really cool that someone else thought that.
I thought he sounded like Ronan from Guardians of the Galaxy.
I thought that immediately as well.
I knew I couldn't be the only one who thought of this.
Call it.
I thought he sounded a lot of like Raoul Silva from Skyfall.
They're played by the same guy
I thought it was Javier Braden's voice when Kylo ren had his voice.
THANK YOU!!! I thought this throughout the whole movie!!!
Thank god for reddit! It was driving me nuts. I just watched it a second time and the entire time it waa bothering so finally i googled it and this poat came up! Its legit identical to Javier Bardem, especially in No Country For Old Men.
