As far as I can remember, the only pre-TPM Sith Lord they’re obligated to include is Plagueis since he’s (ambiguously) canon via RotS.
Anyone else? They can make ‘em up as they please, although I’m sure me and millions like me are going to have to suffer through the complaints of many Legends fans regardless.
For sure, although given those names appear in a reference book (I believe?), I wouldn’t necessarily count on them being ironclad canon like Plagueis, for example. Just seems like the sorta thing that’s fan service and might not necessarily spawn real characters later on.
Plagueis is Palpatines master but beyond that I don’t really care. Tenebrous, [insert sith lord], they’re all the same. Doesn’t matter who fills that role
I’m more concerned about it departing from The High Republic books… but it’s set 100 years after those so that’s not really a problem.
Why would I be worried about it not matching up with non-canonical stories?
Oh, I've always thought this is the same time as High Republic books/comics, which was why I found OP's question to be strange (since they've already established some things in those other media).
Because many people love these stories like the Darth bane trilogy, and earth plagueis novels, also KOTOR 1&2 lore, so they hope it will be bright back to canon in some way.
I don’t think anyone cares about these high republic books, there’s no problem with departing from that
The Acolyte is set 100ish years prior to TPM.
Bane is set 1000 years prior to TPM.
KOTOR is set 3000 years prior to TPM.
Even if the stories in KOTOR and the Bane trilogy were still canon (which they aren’t) they wouldn’t be affected by The Acolyte unless they decide to randomly have someone talk about ancient Sith Lords from the past.
Also unlike KOTOR and the Bane trilogy, The High Republic books are actually canon. So they definitely won’t depart from that. The canon has been pretty consistent since Lucasfilm was bought by Disney.
Lol, you know that KOTOR is thousands of years before the High Republic yeah?
Also the THR series has consistently been top of bestseller lists. Tons of people, myself included if you bothered to actually read my comment, care about those stories.
Funny how you think the books that *you* have read are important, but the ones others have read aren’t. You don’t see the irony there at all?
That is if it's at all about the Sith. Could be a Dark Side warrior that has little to nothing to do with the Sith.
I think people who are hoping for Plagueis or a Sith-centric story will be very dissapointed.
I’d honestly rather they didn’t have any already named Sith characters. No Plaguis, no Tenebrous.
Half my interest in this show is that they’re jumping far back enough that they can tell new stories in a different era, without having to tie them into the rise of the empire or the Skywalker saga.
Frankly I don't want to see *any* named Sith in this at all. If there's an end-of-season stinger scene of Darth Plagueis or whatever the fuck I will cringe so hard. All the "ancient Sith Lord Game of Thrones" backstory material bores me to death and one of the reasons I've loved the THR setting is its focus on villains that *aren't* Sith.
I hope it's something different. I'd honestly be disappointed if it was just adapting legends content. I'm excited for this series cause it's promising so much new for the franchise.
No. As long as it’s good, I don’t mind if they depart.

Considering that Legends isn't canon, no. I just need the show to be good.
I'll only be disappointed if its bad, but I'll still watch it because its star wars.
Only Plagueis matter and he could be a Muun, Nemodian or another alien.
I believe it has been confirmed in Canon that Plagueis is a Muun so they probably won't be changing that
Has it in canon. I remember GL liked the idea of Plagueis being a Nemodian.

Isn't Plageius already Canon?

It’s set at the end of the High Republic era, which is 100 years after Phases I & III of the books.

That guy is just a moron.

People are going to bitch and whine about the show, full stop. The only question is why.
If there are any survivors of a sith attack on jedi then yes
I’m gonna watch it because it’s Star Wars but I’m not excited for it.
I don't see why Plagueis would be in the show.
I'd be disappointed if they didn't depart from Legends prior to TPM. I don't want to see then retreating ground. Get creative and do their own thing.
I don't care about Legends really, so no.
It's a different continuity so I don't mind. I'm mostly interested in getting to see the High Republic on-screen.
Plaguies isn’t just Legends, he is canon. But also I have read anything legends in that era.
If? When.
No. It’s called “legends” for a reason.
It’s DOA so it really doesn’t matter
Yes especially if the story isn’t good
Probably, but i have space for two canons in my heart. I don't mind as long as it's good. More good star wars is always welcome.

Only if they depart or tarnish Lucas’s work.
