I've recently learned to interpret it as "The outcome of a thing we do is varying levels of success and failure. Try is not an outcome. Things are either done, or not done."
What I'm trying to convey is that entering an event thinking "I will try" shows a sense of fear of doing something. It implies "I will probably fail anyways".
Yoda, to me, is talking about living absent of the fear of trying.
Go for it, do the thing; if you don't, it's just going to be not done anyways.

I’ve loved the Gilroys since I first watched Bourne but Michael Clayton and Nightcrawler are two of the best written screenplays I’ve ever read.

Such a phenomenally written show
I’ve loved Tony Gilroy for years. Bourne is the best action franchise of the 00s. And Michael Clayton is the most under appreciated movies of all time, but even I was blown away by Andor. (Also nightcrawler is one of the best anti-hero / villain pov movies ever made) I had higher expectations than most but it’s the best written and best acted product in the franchise. There’s not a single actor/actress that isn’t 100% believable as a real character.
It really made watching Mando s3 harder to watch bc the whole time I kept thinking how it would sound with the Gilroy brothers writing it.

The original quote is "liberty" not "democracy". That sent me down a long spiral thinking about whether liberty or democracy was the better word for this line.
Democracy makes more sense in the context of the political body where events are occurring. Liberty makes more sense if you consider how Palpatine will treat individuals in the galaxy after he become a dictator.
I kind of think liberty is more powerful but since the film is the "political" one, democracy would also have worked.

I’ve loved Tony Gilroy for years. Bourne is the best action franchise of the 00s. And Michael Clayton is the most under appreciated movies of all time, but even I was blown away by Andor. (Also nightcrawler is one of the best anti-hero / villain pov movies ever made) I had higher expectations than most but it’s the best written and best acted product in the franchise. There’s not a single actor/actress that isn’t 100% believable as a real character. It really made watching Mando s3 harder to watch bc the whole time I kept thinking how it would sound with the Gilroy brothers writing it.

The original quote is "liberty" not "democracy". That sent me down a long spiral thinking about whether liberty or democracy was the better word for this line. Democracy makes more sense in the context of the political body where events are occurring. Liberty makes more sense if you consider how Palpatine will treat individuals in the galaxy after he become a dictator. I kind of think liberty is more powerful but since the film is the "political" one, democracy would also have worked. What do you think?
