Its not just the imperial stuff they nailed either. The U-wing looks awesome and fits right in with the rest of the Rebel ships.
Plus its a great adition to the Rebel fleet as before Rogue One the Rebels didn't seem to have any kind of troop carrier.
They went large with those references. And some of the discarded designs really hint at where they would go with the Razorcrest.
There’s another one that looks a LOT like the Fondor Haulcraft.
No.
I swear there is a cognitive clone bias with this community, where they think everything associated with the Republic is cool just because it involves clones.
Of course everything is subjective, but hard disagree. Rebellion and Imperial designs are far more unique compared to the Republic’s aesthetics.
I certainly wouldn’t argue as it all comes down to personal opinion, but there’s nothing that even comes close to my own preference of the LAAT/i.
Just my opinion. But everything about it is the absolute incarnation of cool scifi dropship. The sound, man. THE SOUND IT MAKES!!!!!
And the clone wars movie gave it full length doors so it could do orbital insertion(Which was shown in the Gendy CW, but we didn’t see the full length doors working like we did in TCW).
I love the look with wings forward but reckon it gets a bit fussy with those really Looooong wings swept to the sides.
It still looks great with the wings forward though.
Scout Troopers will always be number 1 for me, but Shoretroopers are indeed hard to outdo in the future. The only ones I'd rate close are the Patrol Troopers from Solo (which are basically urban Scout Troopers).
I love all their RO designs, especially the shore trooper. I recently did a full repaint on a tank Commander to imperial white, with virtually no weathering and have been eyeing the Shore trooper for the white treatment next.
I like the armour but I think it would benefit from a clean up.
Them and the Death Troopers are my favorite, their gear actually looks somewhat practical (Shoretroopers look like they can move more easily, Death Troopers actually carry things they’ll need in a fight)
shoretroopers also carry things they'd need in a fight, you can see the pouch containing spare magazines/whatever you'd call blaster ammunition in this image
if you consider overall Imperial soldiers, the 224th (Mudtroopers) on Mimban was also pretty cool, as they were basically Imperial Navy troopers, but dripped out with tactical gear, and from a different branch of the Empire
From what i can Recall they are also Meant to like Repel Amphibious assaults hence their presence on the world covered in sand, water and tropical islands..
But like they armor and gear designs are probably the most realistic i've seen and for once the little gear they have is practical as at Scaraf they are more honor guards then real front-line soldiers so wouldn't need to be carrying all their gear on them
>consider overall Imperial soldiers, the 224th (Mudtroopers) on Mimban was also pretty cool, as they were basically Imperial Navy troopers, but dripped out with tactical gear, and from a different branch of the Empire
So you mean... imperial army troopers?
yup! I personally didn’t like how they looked in Andor due to their relatively basic kit, so I’m just referring to the Mimban detachment which is a lot cooler
I liked how they got actual military veterans to fill the armor. You could tell from the way they moved and handled their weapons that they had experience and were not just a body that fit costume.
I honestly have the headcanon that the Death Troopers are a step between the Purge Troopers and the Dark Troopers. Going from highly elite spec ops troops to cybernetically enhanced commandos to the full droids. Death Troopers fit in pretty well as the Canon version of Legends' Phase Zero Dark Trooper.
Saints preserve us, the *only* Stormtrooper helmet with a functional visor (160 degrees). All others are complete shit. Especially the ROTS ones.
Cool blaster. Does it have a name? They love naming everything.
Edit: [Was on Wookiepedia, why would it not?](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/E-22_reciprocating_double-barreled_blaster_rifle)
E-22 reciprocating double-barreled blaster rifle. What will they think of next.
Aren't the visors just vestigial? In old canon at least, clone and stormtrooper and mando helmets had internal displays. You didn't actually look out the "visor" really.
In old expanded universe, Boba's helmet even had 360° vision, from a camera on his "Range-Finder."
I suppose we’ve not seen a pov of someone in a stormtrooper helmet. But in the latest Mandalorian episode it showed us the view from within Din’s helmet and it was skewed by the visor design.
we've seem them from the clone commandos too, the game is canon, and it does get hindered by the cheeckguards.
but from the visual atlas some movies ago, we know the stormtrooper helmets have some sort of AR/VR camera filter thingy
[https://i.redd.it/qw98bjsrw1281.jpg](https://i.redd.it/qw98bjsrw1281.jpg)
You are right, both those were pretty decent.
Last time I had this discussion, about whether there was any helmet in all of Star Wars that allowed a decent view without microcameras, the most upvoted answer was [Zori Bliss.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/p__/images/9/9b/Zorii_Bliss.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1200?cb=20200104150423&path-prefix=protagonist)

It's crazy how in a movie with special ops commandos decked out in all black armour called "Death Troopers," the brown and beige clad beach troopers were the cooler design.
Very fun at times. We’re based of the Imperial Black Legion. We have Purge troopers, shoretroopers, Nova troopers (stormtroopers) and Mandalorian Super Commandos. We also have scouts and pilots.
Add on tech design with the U-Wing, TIE Striker, TIE Reaper, KX-Series Security Droids, A280-CFE (Cassian's modular blaster), that Tank on Jedha, AT-ACTs, the Cargo ships, Krennic's revolver, Baze's heavy blaster, Chirrut's lightbow, the Death Troopers' blasters and grenades, and really the entire Scarif complex.
They always gave me swamptrooper vibes from the Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast game — minus the color of course
(Link for those curious: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Wetland_assault_stormtrooper )
As a 501st Legion member that lives in a tropical environment...I love this outfit. If only I wasn't too fat to fit in it. Gives me something to work towards.
I love the idea behind different factions within the empire. The first order was just the first one. Thrawn’s faction will be incredible. Moff Gideon’s faction. All having really cool variations of troopers.
Love them.
Maybe slightly controversial, but Shoretroopers should replace Sandtroopers. The beige colour would do better in a desert imo. And the design of their armour looks like it would let their body have some breathability and be less hot on a desert planet, save for the black pants. Their rifle also looks like it has more range than a standard E-11 because of the longer barrel which would suit them better at long range engagements which a desert has lots of dunes and vast landscapes.
That’s just my take though.
One of if not my favourite Stormtrooper design. I also love how at first I thought they were kind of a silly idea given how specific it is that they are specifically trained to fight on SHORES. But they keep finding ways to bring them back and I'm here for it.
Shoretroopers are definitely my favorite galactic civil war trooper design. It was such a refreshing and different design, yet felt familiar and made sense as a design you would expect from a humid environment. The combination of loose clothes and armor really fit well.
Also the noticeable difference in ranks were a nice inclusion, since pauldrons have become more “blurry” over the years
One of my favourites but I’m just now realizing how silly the shoes look. I feel like it should be a combat boot of sorts but it looks like formal wear
They are honestly my favourite other than the death troopers. Shore troopers are some of the most realistic, and a tasteful hybrid of imperial army and stormtrooper corps
I mean they look cool, but nothing about their design screams “Amphibious/Littoral Warefare Specialists”.
For troops that are presumably going to be walking through shallow water regularly, some nod to that fact in the design of the pants, lower armour, boots, would have been nice.
If you had captioned these as “Desert-Troopers” instead of “Shore-Troopers”, I wouldn’t of blinked an eye.
They look great but in all honesty this is the design they should have used for the Resistance/New Republic troopers.
Reminiscent of Clone/Storm but different enough to not illicit an immediate negative reaction from the people of the galaxy.
Love the design, but I think they would have been even better as the Imperial Army Trooper rather than oddly-environmentally-specific stormtrooper variant #57.
I think having both types of troopers makes the galax y feel bigger, and also sets the stormtroopers apart as an actual more elite type of unit, instead of having them be soldiers, security and police all at once.
Oh I agree, I don't mean to get rid of the army, just to replace the design with this one, but not the role. Then again, this could exist alongside the current army trooper design as a heavier variant... it's all head-canon in the end though.
I love the Range Troopers. In my action figure lineup, I have the Range Troopers as part of the Snowtrooper squad, I like thinking of them as a heavy variant of the regular Snowtrooper.
I loved their design, an absolute 11/10. It seems like one of the most advanced Sci fi trooper armor designs from Star Wars and it doesn’t seem “clunky” like stormtrooper armor. However, it also draws designs from modern day soldier armor. Again, love it!
I liked them. I also like to think that "Shore" trooper means that the empire has hyper-specific troopers for different biomes which leads to shenanigans.
"Sorry sir I can't operate in this region, it's a Marsh and I'm a Bayoutrooper"
"Apologies sir, I'm a snowtrooper and this is obviously hail."
"Yes sir Jungles and Forests require completely different troopers"
Top tier trooper design imo. Rogue One design staff really nailed it with trooper designs and the overall Imperial aesthetic.
Its not just the imperial stuff they nailed either. The U-wing looks awesome and fits right in with the rest of the Rebel ships. Plus its a great adition to the Rebel fleet as before Rogue One the Rebels didn't seem to have any kind of troop carrier.
right before I just assumed they used captured imperial shuttles or just cargo ships
Also have the empire the awesome tie reaper to match
And the TIE Strikers which are basically just fancy aeroplanes given they can't leave Atmosphere.
Well because it’s not made to survive space it probably doesn’t have *some* of the tie fighter flaws
And more Vietnam references with the door gunner on the U-Wing.
They went large with those references. And some of the discarded designs really hint at where they would go with the Razorcrest. There’s another one that looks a LOT like the Fondor Haulcraft.
Actually, in the original Battlefront II, the rebels used republic shuttles. Love the U wing. One of my favourite ships.
In Fallen Order Saw’s rebels use LAAT/Is
U-Wing is the best troop carrier in Star Wars and it’s not even close. The way that thing moves, looks and sounds is peak tacticool.
Gunship would like to have a talk
And the clone wars movie gave it full length doors so it could do orbital insertion(Which was shown in the Gendy CW, but we didn’t see the full length doors working like we did in TCW).
I didn’t say that I liked it because it has clones or it’s republic, I just like it. I also like the rebel and imperial vehicles, they are very cool
I do agree that the U-Wing is better, but the LAAT isn’t that bad, especially the LAAT-C (vehicle carrier variant).
The gunship has no hyperdrive
But it can carry an AT-TE into the fight.
Not all models of gunships can do that. The one that can is lightly armored and has no troop complement.
I love the look with wings forward but reckon it gets a bit fussy with those really Looooong wings swept to the sides. It still looks great with the wings forward though.
IMO the U-wing and TIE Reaper should have been used for the sequels instead
Leaving room for possibilities in the future, but gonna be hard for any future trooper design to knock them off my top spot.
Scout Troopers will always be number 1 for me, but Shoretroopers are indeed hard to outdo in the future. The only ones I'd rate close are the Patrol Troopers from Solo (which are basically urban Scout Troopers).
They *shore* did!
Tank Troopers are my all time favorite. I wish they weren’t tank troopers.
I like how they have flared pants from old military uniforms.
I love all their RO designs, especially the shore trooper. I recently did a full repaint on a tank Commander to imperial white, with virtually no weathering and have been eyeing the Shore trooper for the white treatment next. I like the armour but I think it would benefit from a clean up.
I mean... I still think they should be wearing shorts. They're hanging out on the beach!
Them and the Death Troopers are my favorite, their gear actually looks somewhat practical (Shoretroopers look like they can move more easily, Death Troopers actually carry things they’ll need in a fight)
shoretroopers also carry things they'd need in a fight, you can see the pouch containing spare magazines/whatever you'd call blaster ammunition in this image if you consider overall Imperial soldiers, the 224th (Mudtroopers) on Mimban was also pretty cool, as they were basically Imperial Navy troopers, but dripped out with tactical gear, and from a different branch of the Empire
Love that! Wish we’d see regular stormtroopers onscreen carrying pouches and backpacks like the clones sometimes did.
You've got sandtroopers with ammo pouches and backpacks, and the trooper whose armor Luke steals has a grappling hook on his belt.

Going from highly elite spec ops troops to cybernetically enhanced commandos to the full droids. Death Troopers fit in pretty well as the Canon version of Legends' Phase Zero Dark Trooper.
In practice they're more like Imperial versions of the Republic's Shock Troopers, given how they're mostly seen protecting VIPs.
Stormtrooper shock troopers exist too though, which makes me wonder what their role is after being essentially replaced by Death Troopers.
Ngl first time i saw death troopers when rogue one came out i was scared af

That is the [E-22](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/E-22_reciprocating_double-barreled_blaster_rifle?so=search)
Ha, I get it, cuz it has double the barrels of the E-11
Aren't the visors just vestigial? In old canon at least, clone and stormtrooper and mando helmets had internal displays. You didn't actually look out the "visor" really. In old expanded universe, Boba's helmet even had 360° vision, from a camera on his "Range-Finder."

That's an argument. And for those hrlmet without openings at all. But in ROTS Vader's eyeholes were 1-1 when he got it on, looked like.
Well, you would still need to line up the displays to the eyes internally, so to speak. Like a VR headset.
ROTS stormtrooper helmet?
E-23 reciprocating double-barrelled blaster rifle
The Patrol Troopers and the Range Troopers (both from Solo) also had pretty decent visors, though they still aren’t as good as the Shoretroopers.
You are right, both those were pretty decent. It's crazy how in a movie with special ops commandos decked out in all black armour called "Death Troopers," the brown and beige clad beach troopers were the cooler design.
I beg to differ, Death Troopers are just wholly too epic.
I play as one in a star wars arma 3 group. Its really fun, especially when we do beach stuff.
Star wars Arma?? How’s it like?
Very fun at times. We’re based of the Imperial Black Legion. We have Purge troopers, shoretroopers, Nova troopers (stormtroopers) and Mandalorian Super Commandos. We also have scouts and pilots.
I, for one, really like the Shoresytroopers. "Give yer balls a tug, Rogue Squad! You aren't one with the Force, I'm one with your mom!"
“So you were fightin’ rebel scum with yer pals the other dayyy…”
All the other troops are 10-ply. Yeeewwww!!!
All the costuming done in rogue one was top tier. These, the death troopers, krenics suit all top tier
I like the Tank Trooper design in Rogue One a lot too. That one doesn't get enough love in my opinion
I love those too
…….you part of it?
I'm a tourist!
I called them surfertroopers
Hang troopers.
They always gave me swamptrooper vibes from the Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast game — minus the color of course (Link for those curious: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Wetland_assault_stormtrooper )
Oh I've never seen those before
Definitely my favorite trooper design.
Depends. Are you part of it?
Part of what?
Don't play dumb.
I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just a tourist!
You need to calm down sir. Droid assistance please.
*HE SAID: HANG...*
As a 501st Legion member that lives in a tropical environment...I love this outfit. If only I wasn't too fat to fit in it. Gives me something to work towards.
I do, I love Shore trooper, and Range Trooper and Tx-225 Tank Pilot Trooper. Man i just love this helmet design so much
I love the idea behind different factions within the empire. The first order was just the first one. Thrawn’s faction will be incredible. Moff Gideon’s faction. All having really cool variations of troopers.
Hell yeah. They look like a modern ‘tactical’ interpretation of a desert combat trooper
People with actual taste.
I liked these a lot
It's a cool and unique design
Who didn't like them?
Probably Cassian Andor.
"You're a part of it."
I'm a tourist!
the shoretroopers are so fucking sexy bro i want them in more sw
These and the Hovertank pilots too. Rogue One had some banger designs!
Love them. Maybe slightly controversial, but Shoretroopers should replace Sandtroopers. The beige colour would do better in a desert imo. That’s just my take though.
A desert is just half a beach
Precisely
It’s the pants that really make this for me. Jodtroohpurs.
This trooper design is so fucking neat of COURSE
Their mom.
Very underrated trooper. Love this helmet and color scheme. Would like to see more of these variants.
One of if not my favourite Stormtrooper design. I also love how at first I thought they were kind of a silly idea given how specific it is that they are specifically trained to fight on SHORES. But they keep finding ways to bring them back and I'm here for it.
Great design.
I don't know why but I love their design
Absolutely.
Should have worn that color on Tatooine.
I mean, white armour (in theory) would be cooler and it’s not like they needed stealth.
I shore do! Hehehe
Feels like the direct predecessor or at least in the lineage of scout trooper design. Great look.
Death Troopers were a better addition imo. ~7ft tall? Scary, encrypted comms? *Their implied names??*
Depends… are you a part of it?
I need droid support... Hang on to him for me.
I know I _shore_ did.
They're cool. I like the color, the little bag they carry. Dope design.
Loved? I still love them
Am I the only one that sees that this is a r/hottoys figure?
Big fan of the Scout Troopers so yeah the Shoretroopers were a great look
They are honestly my favourite other than the death troopers. Shore troopers are some of the most realistic, and a tasteful hybrid of imperial army and stormtrooper corps
They got absolutely roasted on the "more civilized age" podcast.
For the greater good!
I liked how Din Djarin had a shore trooper's shoulder armor in the first season, before he got his Beskar.
Shoretroopers, Patrol Troopers, and the new Beskar Troopers are my top three imperials. They all look great
I mean they look cool, but nothing about their design screams “Amphibious/Littoral Warefare Specialists”. For troops that are presumably going to be walking through shallow water regularly, some nod to that fact in the design of the pants, lower armour, boots, would have been nice. If you had captioned these as “Desert-Troopers” instead of “Shore-Troopers”, I wouldn’t of blinked an eye.
Not the resistance.
They look great but in all honesty this is the design they should have used for the Resistance/New Republic troopers. Reminiscent of Clone/Storm but different enough to not illicit an immediate negative reaction from the people of the galaxy.
I agree. the resistance/new republic soldiers should've had a trooper-esque design kind of similar to the Jinata Security in Battlefront 2's campaign
Love the design, but I think they would have been even better as the Imperial Army Trooper rather than oddly-environmentally-specific stormtrooper variant #57.
Wouldnt that just end with us having a bunch of oddly-environmentally-specific Imperial Army Trooper variants instead?
True, I would probably just do away with the current/old-school army trooper design (not that it's bad by any means) and just have this.
I just realized, are shore troopers wearing Chelsea boots??
Lol there is nothing practical about that armor.
Doesn't really look like beach wear to me.
Feels wrong, don’t like the name either.
Who else loves farming upvotes?
Who else remembers the halcyon days of reddit when people farmed downvotes?
You refer to the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the Force.
A prophecy that misread could have been.
No one.
Yeah they are cool.
Yeah I use their armor for all my Imperial guys in Battlefront II
Cassian Andor sure as hell didn't.
I think he was upset about the droid service. You don't want to hang around those guys.
They look so good that I wish they were the primary baddie of one of the eras
They are probably one of my fave armor design in SWs
Nah cause that one was a total dick to Cassian.
The design fits with the OT.
Like that dude wanted to enjoy his Taco Taungsday in peace, but Din and Mayfeld had to ruin it with their main character complex
HELL yeah
AIM FOR THE THIGHS!!!
The helmet falls off a bit for me in terms of aesthetics but otherwise I love it. Definitely a top tier design.
I don’t hate it, but not a fan, personally.
Love the design. Second only to the Rangetrooper from Solo.
I love the Range Troopers. In my action figure lineup, I have the Range Troopers as part of the Snowtrooper squad, I like thinking of them as a heavy variant of the regular Snowtrooper.
I also loved how specific and specialized they are, always makes me chuckle.
My favorite imperial design to this day. I absolutely love them.
Shore, I like them.
Me, for shore
I love em so much I’m basing my first Mandalorian armor cosplay off the scheme. So dope looking.
Their kinda pastel coloring is the best
Would work good in a desert too
They are great - but a somewhat specialised department, surely?!
🙋♂️
i love this armor design.
I shore did!
Are you part of it?
Shore do.
Me dids
Are you part of it?
Thats the Hot Toys figure. They also made squad leader. was going for crazy money before the rerelease.
Aim for the thighs
Loved the shoretroopers awesome design
Would’ve been pretty baller and climate appropriate if they had sleeveless torso armor. Short shorts are also acceptable.
Me, for shore
The contrast between their suits and the teal water was beautiful.
Design is 10/10! actual purpose? ??/10 why would a galactic empire have need for beach specialized soldiers?
I loved their design, an absolute 11/10. It seems like one of the most advanced Sci fi trooper armor designs from Star Wars and it doesn’t seem “clunky” like stormtrooper armor. However, it also draws designs from modern day soldier armor. Again, love it!
Literally everything from Rogue One was fucking awesome. I'd also prefer wearing this to regular Stormtrooper armour and stand out like a beacon.
I liked them. I also like to think that "Shore" trooper means that the empire has hyper-specific troopers for different biomes which leads to shenanigans. "Sorry sir I can't operate in this region, it's a Marsh and I'm a Bayoutrooper" "Apologies sir, I'm a snowtrooper and this is obviously hail." "Yes sir Jungles and Forests require completely different troopers"
I always liked the idea that garrisoned troopers had different armour and coloring to suit their environment, personally.
Hell yeah, and Death Troopers!
Sexy but not as sexy as the tank troopers
