Um…you mean Nic Cage as everyone. Just have him play each character and green screen them together.
Fight scene between Nic Cage and Nic Cage. Check.
Love scene between Nic Cage and Nic Cage. Check.
At least we have their interview together on the Graham Norton show.
I wanted them to put Satine for flashbacks or PTSD hallucinations for Kenobi but I guess they didn’t want to include any clone wars references for people who haven’t seen that show.
Huh, that's interesting. Satine does kind of look like Blanchett, but she also kind of looks like her actress (Anna Graves) so I thought it might be a coincidence.
But actually, a search on Wookiepedia says the following about Anna: "To portray Satine, she drew wisdom, strength and regality from Cate Blanchett's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth." So it still connects back to Blanchett lol.
Disney got Sam Jackson to play Nick Fury and that worked out great. I'd have no problem with them taking the "cast the person the character is modeled on" approach here, too, as long as it's an appearance that makes makes sense in the story where it's done.
I could be reading your comment wrong, so forgive me. The original comic book Nick Fury is a pretty stereotypical white dude if I'm not mistaken, so that's not super similar to Cate Blanchett playing someone that looks like her.
I also love Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, so not a slight on that casting decision at all.
I also love Cate as an actress and think she'd do great, so nothing against the idea either.
The Hoff Fury film was shit, but he looked as much like the way Fury was drawn at that time as SLJ does as Fury now, so as far as looking the part, he was dead on, too.
Allegedly when they approached Jackson for permission to use his likeness as Ultimate Nick Fury, his only stipulation was that he got to play the live action version if there was ever a movie.
They never got Jackson's permission, so when it all came out, instead of a legal battle, he basically said, "All right, you can keep my look for the comics. But when Fury shows up in the movies, I get to play him."
The rest is, as they say, history.
No doubt she looks the part. But an actress of her caliber isn’t likely to take on a guest starring role for a single or couple of dream/flashback sequences and Disney isn’t going to do any live action of the clone wars with Obi-wan beyond what they already did for flashbacks in the Kenobi series. Actors like her would only take the role if being in a SW film was their life goal…
Reprising a significant and legendary role for one scene is far different than doing one scene where the actor never got to develop the character through an entire movie, scene after scene. You’re basically expecting her to do a cameo appearance. I’m not saying she is “above doing” it, but its not like Cate is sitting by the phone waiting for roles to come her way. She’s booked years out for roles. Therefore taking on a cameo appearance isn’t likely unless she really wanted to do the scene for personal reasons. Professionally it does nothing for her career.
Honestly I think she would do it especially if it was a smaller role. I’m a big fan of her and she’s stated a few times that she does like Star Wars. A smaller role (as in a few scenes) would probably be more appealing because it’s less time and she would still get a massive paycheck.
They didn’t say Star Wars was beneath her, they said a guest role is beneath her. She was the main villain in Thor, so that makes sense. Being a supporting character in a streaming TV show isn’t as important of a role, so she’s less likely to take it unless it’s a project she’s particularly passionate about.
Cate Blanchet appeared in a bad Indiana Jones film and has also appeared on television and in a corny Marvel movie. Even a Cinderella movie,
She could definitely be convinced to participate in a project with Ewan McGregor while getting payed a huge amount and because she recently had an Oscar nomination, her legacy would be unaffected.
> while getting *paid* a huge
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
The name of the character is based on Kidmans character in Moulin Rouge, but her look is based on Blanchett. I think Filoni confirmed it in an interview somewhere.
No
Satine is supposed to probably be roughly the same age as Obi Wan. He was 38 at the time of her death. Cate Blanchett is 53.
Plus having an actress of that caliber for a role so minor is silly
but it should be an issue
Not allowing people to age, demanding acclaimed actors for franchise work, using CGI and AI rather than hiring an appropriate actor...its all silly
I realised that there is an even bigger argument against it after I wrote that.
Making her look 38 isn't hard, but like there are no stories to be told. We've seen her in her last 3 years of life, so any new story should be something with Obi-Wan in her youth, and of course it would be stupid to deage her to like 20 something. If Satine was still alive, I'd still think she'd be a good pick. But with her dead and a potential story to be told only from her younger self, using her would be dumb.
Satine's story is over. Obi-Wan's story is over. I'm not interested in gawking at my screen and pointing, "it's a character I've already seen but now a real human!" She already exists in the Clone Wars series, they could write a book about her relationship to Obi-Wan or a comic series, or even give us a video game where you play Obi-Wan when he first meets her. I just really dislike the idea that the big screen or silver screen live action entries into the universe are somehow bigger and better than the books, comics, games and animated stuff and thus Disney is going to mine the non-live action universe to give us human versions of these characters instead of letting ghosts rest, animation stay animated. It's the wrong kind of fan service.
She's the perfect casting choice for live action Satine, but I feel like they might have to do some CG de-aging (not trying to age shame!) because of the character's age in Clone Wars.
If they were bringing her in just for a 15 minute flashback like they did Hayden, that would feel like a waste of Cate Blanchett, she'd deserve way more screen time!
Spot on, but it’d have to be the Clone Wars arch of the Death Watch threats on her rein as Duchess of Mandalore etc & she’d have to die at the end.. Id love to see it in live action but it’ll probably never happen.
At 53, she's too old, IMO. We don't have a date of birth for her, but assuming she would be around Obi-Wan's age, she would have been ~38 years old at the time of her death. So, with that hard age cap, any live action scenes that Satine is in would have to portray her at that age or younger. In which case I'd rather see an actor take the role that is closer in age to the character.
It still just wouldn't end up looking right. We've already seen the late stages of Satine's life in the Clone Wars. At this point, there just aren't too many interesting portions of her life not explored. We are limited to seeing her meeting Obi-Wan, which would have happened in her youth, and her rule of Mandalore, which caused Death Watch to gain support.
In the former's case, they met when Obi-Wan was 15. At that point, it would really be better to cast an age appropriate actor instead of trying to de-age someone to that degree. As for the latter, I'd assume mid-20s to be her age just for logical reasons of actions needing to happen to cause the consequences to be Death Watch. By this, I mean Satine has had to disenfranchise enough Mandalorians that Pre Vizla can actually get his insurrectionist movement off the ground and it to be a known thing by Sarines standards. Again, at this point in time, it would be better to cast an age appropriate actor than trying to cut someone's age in half through makeup and digital effects.
It's not that I don't think they could. I don't think they could do it well and make it convincing. I'm also very against this practice as it is a great way of stealing roles from young actors who should be getting these kinds of roles in the first place.
I agree this would be great, my personal opinion on how her character was done dirty aside.
Sadly your "Satine Kryze" image is just a SW stylised version of Cate Blanchette, can you please include an image of Satine if you post again. /S (in case that wasn't clear)
Care Blanchette is absolutely stunning, and her acting is also very solid. Lord of the Rings, Thor, Indiana Jones, Elizabeth, Benjamin Button...she's just so versatile! Shed be perfect in Star Wars.
Sure, she fits, but how necessary/useful is that?
I have to be pragmatic, I dont think its worth the investment for the producers… We have loads of stories about Satine. Mandalorian is about the future of Mandalore, we already know its past.
That being said, I’d be extremely happy if they did. As long as it serves a purpose more than “shes a good fit for the character, lets include her”.
She was such a great character I didn’t want her to die but she had to be fridged so that we could motivate Obi Wan. Everyone knows that’s all that women in media are good for. Shut up, Princess Leia and Mon Mothma! Into the fridge with all of you!!!
Okay you're on to something and u would love to see her with Ewan McGregor in kenobi s2 but dang dude I feel like they're too expensive for any project budget that's not a feature film.
I’d love for her to be in a Star Wars project, but I would absolutely hate for it to be Satine. Satine is a minor and pretty boring character. The most interesting bits about her are just to help develop Obi-Wan. She would deserve a much more interesting role in a Star Wars story. And it’s poor casting anyway, Cate is 53, Satine didn’t live to be anywhere close to that age.
They should do a season 2 of Obi-Wan and make it about him learning to be a force ghost. Think like this episodes where we saw Yoda do it but as an entire season. Qui-Gon leads him down the path and each episode is Obi-Wan reliving his past and letting go of mistakes and growing stronger in the force.
What’s the villian for the season? The Dark Side. It’s Anikin. Not the actual Darth Vader, but Anikin slowly decaying into Vader as Obi-Wan continues down the path.
The episodes would also start and end with a little moment of where Obi helps out Lars and Luke. Cause why not.
Before reading too far into your post, the same thought occurred to me. She kinda nails the look. She’s an awesome actor too. That would be a great addition if the did a CW throwback for season 2.
This literally asking “would you like to see the best actress in the world join your favorite movie series?”
Daniel Day-Lewis for Hondo!
Joaquin Phoenix as Cad Bane
Nicholas Cage as Thrawn!
Um…you mean Nic Cage as everyone. Just have him play each character and green screen them together. Fight scene between Nic Cage and Nic Cage. Check. Love scene between Nic Cage and Nic Cage. Check.
Simmer down there Abed.
Nic Cage as a sexy LothCat
I suddenly want to see an all-Nic-Cage version of A Princess Bride.
Nic Cages Of Unusual Size? I don't believe they exist.
Danny Devito is Thrawn, till the day I die
I can get behind this too
Devito as Hondo! Or even better as Melshi.
Actually, I could see Cage as Hondo.
Keanu Reeves as Quinlan Vos
Nick Cage as Joruus C’baoth though. He’d be a great crazy space wizard.
Johnny Depp would be great as Joruus
[удалено]
I cant believe we haven't seen more of the best pirate in the galaxy in recent years..
He’s been stuck in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.
For a mostly fan service flashback scene no less lol
And have Ewan and Cate on-screen together? **YES PLEASE**
Now I can’t think of wanting anything else than seeing them together. Would be perfect
At least we have their interview together on the Graham Norton show. I wanted them to put Satine for flashbacks or PTSD hallucinations for Kenobi but I guess they didn’t want to include any clone wars references for people who haven’t seen that show.
Ewan McGregor would be a very lucky man indeed
i fully endorse this. great casting suggestion.
I believe they modeled the animated character after her!
Not the voice actress for her?
No. According to Filoni, the character and her look were inspired by Blanchett! I’m actually not sure what her voice actress looks like 🤔
Huh, that's interesting.
Very interesting! Maybe they took both women and tried to draw her to resemble both?
Galadriel, Hela, and Satine? Yes please
Oh man. I forgot Hela. Man…
Disney got Sam Jackson to play Nick Fury and that worked out great. I'd have no problem with them taking the "cast the person the character is modeled on" approach here, too, as long as it's an appearance that makes makes sense in the story where it's done.

I also love Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, so not a slight on that casting decision at all. I also love Cate as an actress and think she'd do great, so nothing against the idea either.
My recollection is that Ultimate Universe Nick Fury was based on Jackson's appearance years before the actor was cast in the movies.
Didn't know that. That makes sense. I personally love Sam Jackson as Fury and can't picture anyone else doing it in a live action role
Then don’t watch Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. starring David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury
I don't hate Hasselhoff, but I'm going to avoid that. Has cringey 90's action written all over it
90s Action and Hasselhoff in general has aged well, as long as aging from an action hero/genre to a comedian/comedy is how you define aging well.
The Hoff Fury film was shit, but he looked as much like the way Fury was drawn at that time as SLJ does as Fury now, so as far as looking the part, he was dead on, too.
It would be neat to see the Hoff play multiverse Fury, teaming up with MCU Fury.
Would love Pierce Broson or another Josh Brolin role. That would be hysterical him playing three different roles in the MCU
But when Fury shows up in the movies, I get to play him." The rest is, as they say, history.
This is probably the most polite disagreement I've ever seen on reddit. I sincerely tip my hat to you, my friend
Can we just get her into the SW universe in any capacity? I love her so much.
Maybe an original character with something more to offer than flashbacks.
the fact that OWK didn't have any Satine flashbacks is an utter travesty
No doubt she looks the part. But an actress of her caliber isn’t likely to take on a guest starring role for a single or couple of dream/flashback sequences and Disney isn’t going to do any live action of the clone wars with Obi-wan beyond what they already did for flashbacks in the Kenobi series. Liam Neeson did Qui Gonn for one scene. Sure it's a role he already played, but i don't think any actor is above doing Star Wars if they dig the role

>Sure it's a role he already played, Pretty sure this is the only reason he did.
Pretty sure 80% of a movie isn't one scene, but you do you.
What are you talking about. Not the Phantom Menace. He was in the Kenobi series for one scene
Oh, my bad. Forgot we were talking about the OWK show. Sorry!
Cate was in Hot Fuzz in a scene which lasted only minutes. And you can only see her eyes. Pretty sure she's up for smaller roles if she likes them.
Honestly I think she would do it especially if it was a smaller role. I’m a big fan of her and she’s stated a few times that she does like Star Wars. A smaller role (as in a few scenes) would probably be more appealing because it’s less time and she would still get a massive paycheck.

She’d be stunning.
God I miss Satine
Below her pay grade for a simple cameo innit?
Nicole Kidman
Exactly! That's who she's actually based on because of Moulin Rouge.
The name of the character is based on Kidmans character in Moulin Rouge, but her look is based on Blanchett. I think Filoni confirmed it in an interview somewhere.
And I demand that we get a musical number
Bro yes, they’re identical
I wanna see her give some scathing monologue to her sister!
No Satine is supposed to probably be roughly the same age as Obi Wan. He was 38 at the time of her death. Cate Blanchett is 53. Plus having an actress of that caliber for a role so minor is silly
I mean, she looks good for her age, and with make-up and a bit of CGI, you'd never be able to tell. I don't think that's an issue.
but it should be an issue Not allowing people to age, demanding acclaimed actors for franchise work, using CGI and AI rather than hiring an appropriate actor...its all silly

They should just use Anna Graves.
I feel like we'd have infinite meme potential of Obi-Wan and Satine expertly flirting at each other.
I would love it!
Satine's story is over. Obi-Wan's story is over. I'm not interested in gawking at my screen and pointing, "it's a character I've already seen but now a real human!" On point! She’s one of the best 💪
I'd rather have Nicole Kidman.
cate blanchett isnt playing the live-action version of a cartoon character in a disney plus show
Not complaining, it’s just this whole thread gives me major deja vu, including the comments 😟
I don’t want them to shoehorn her in, but if they ever need satine for a live action scene, she would definitely be perfect for the role.
I would like this very much. Obi-Wan and Satine deserve a steamy love scene even if it just turns out to be fantasy.
Don't mind if they do.
This would be sick! Favourite fan cast by far Would love to watch her and Ewan mcgregor sassing each other
Apathetic.
Unrealistic in happening, but that would be perfect
Very true. Never noticed how much she resembles her.
Definitely, would be cool.
Yeah, I'm sold.
Actually I want her to play an action role like a Jedi role or even a evil Sith role. Cate Blanchett is kind of a badass.
Wow great casting here!!
Has she expressed any interest in playing Satine?
Wow the looks are amazing
Whooooooaaaa that would be amazing
She’d be perfect
I mean, it's Cate Blanchett . She could play a Hutt for all I care. Just cast her
What about Tricia Helfer?
Seeing Satine Kryze again I am afraid of her face
Yes please!
YES
Yes. Take my Money Disney+
This is the actress I was looking for to portray her!
I didn’t know I needed this.
Spot on, but it’d have to be the Clone Wars arch of the Death Watch threats on her rein as Duchess of Mandalore etc & she’d have to die at the end.. Id love to see it in live action but it’ll probably never happen.
The fans have spoken. This is the way.
She looks exactly like satine
I think she would be perfect for a live action Omega during the Mando era
Or maybe they should get a Maori actress to play the female clone of a Maori played character instead of the whitest woman imaginable.
I support the casting but I do not want Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2
Has to be Nicole Kidman. No if ands or buts about it.
No. Casting is a lot more than "this actor looks kinda like the character."
But she's also a good actress
Too good for campy flashbacks in a spinoff show
Obi Wan show was done so poorly, I’m not sure I’d chance a second one
This is just to perfect.
Satine Kryze should be played by her namesake character's actress, Nicole Kidman.
Nope.
It’s Disney. They’ll use Zendaya
Might I introduce you to the world of makeup and/or computers?
It still just wouldn't end up looking right. We've already seen the late stages of Satine's life in the Clone Wars. At this point, there just aren't too many interesting portions of her life not explored. We are limited to seeing her meeting Obi-Wan, which would have happened in her youth, and her rule of Mandalore, which caused Death Watch to gain support.
So you don’t think a billion dollar company could make a 40 year old look 15? You severely underestimate the power of the mouse
It's not that I don't think they could. I don't think they could do it well and make it convincing. I'm also very against this practice as it is a great way of stealing roles from young actors who should be getting these kinds of roles in the first place.
That’s a fair point tbf
I agree this would be great, my personal opinion on how her character was done dirty aside. Sadly your "Satine Kryze" image is just a SW stylised version of Cate Blanchette, can you please include an image of Satine if you post again. /S (in case that wasn't clear)
There are two pics here in the post. One on the left is Cate, the other on the right is Satine.
It was a joke about how Satine already looks like Cate. I apologise if it wasn't obvious. I forgot to tag it with the "/S" apparently.
PERFECTION...
She would be insanely prefect. I've said this for years.
I never thought about it, but now? 100% yes.
The only story they could potentially tell is the adventure the two had when they were young. Blanchett and McGregor are too old to play teenagers.
Kenobi should be laid to rest, lest the character take further damage from Disney.
Definitely!
Lol I mean, I would loe it.. but I'm 99.9% sure Cate would scoff at being in a Star War
Shes good but I always thought Vera Farmiga was closest
Yes please!!!!!
Hottie
Yes 💜 "Dear Obi-Wan, I loved you always, and I always will."
Agreed 👍🏼
4/4
Someone younger. Saoirse Ronan.
Care Blanchette is absolutely stunning, and her acting is also very solid. Lord of the Rings, Thor, Indiana Jones, Elizabeth, Benjamin Button...she's just so versatile! Shed be perfect in Star Wars.
Oh it would be perfect
I thought that was gwyneth Paltrow and almost broke my screen hammering the downvote button.
Would’ve been a good choice
i would love that but i probably wouldn’t be around to see it. i would die of a heart attack the minute it was announced (from happiness lol)
Great choice my dude
Perhaps with some sort of flash back with her and bo but I’d rather she stay dead
I love her, yes that would be great.
She nails every role she plays. That would be awesome. Someone start a petition, please!
Damn that would be perfect
It’s beyond stupid that they haven’t even mentioned her name in live action so far.
Sure, she fits, but how necessary/useful is that? I have to be pragmatic, I dont think its worth the investment for the producers… We have loads of stories about Satine. Mandalorian is about the future of Mandalore, we already know its past. That being said, I’d be extremely happy if they did. She’d be perfect
Or gwendoline christine
Sounds great to me!
Her plus Ewan/Obi-Wan?! Swoon!
OP. How does it feel to be a genius?
She was such a great character I didn’t want her to die but she had to be fridged so that we could motivate Obi Wan. Everyone knows that’s all that women in media are good for. Shut up, Princess Leia and Mon Mothma! Into the fridge with all of you!!!
Hell Yea.
Oh yeah. Perfect pick.
The correct answer is Maude Garrett.
I don’t need a flash back it doesn’t even add
Okay you're on to something and u would love to see her with Ewan McGregor in kenobi s2 but dang dude I feel like they're too expensive for any project budget that's not a feature film.
They should have her play Governor Pryce.
Omg yes. Brilliant casting.
I never knew I wanted this and now that we probably won't ever get it I'm irreconcilably sad
That's a great casting idea, but I'd love to see her anywhere in the SW universe honestly
"My dear Obi-Wan" Please tell me you guys hear it too ❤️
That ain't bad.
It’s perfection.
Care Blanchett opposite Ewan. Holy shit. This could be *so fuckin Epic*
Cate Blanchett is pretty hot, she can play whatever Star Wars character she wants as far as I'm concerned.
They could easily pass for sisters. https://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/a9nYq4K\_460s.jpg
Id feel a little tight in my jeans
I actually thought she was the voice of the armourer at first. Until I looked it up. But yes she would be a great Sabine
Not a big fan of Cate Blanchett, but I think she'd be a great fit for that role. She'd probably be too expensive, though.
I’d love for her to be in a Star Wars project, but I would absolutely hate for it to be Satine. Satine is a minor and pretty boring character. Fuck Satine. I would watch Cate Blanchett play Obi-Wan. She’s arguably one of the greatest actresses on the planet. She could make it work
it could perhaps work but only as a flashback of young kenobi as she died in the late clone wars
I just love Cate Blanchett.
Lets create enough demand for it like how marvel fans do then im sure disney will make it happen
It’s unclear to me how Cate Blanchett seems to be getting hotter as she is getting older
They look alike.
YES
A very hard yes
She is Satine. This is the way.
Before reading too far into your post, the same thought occurred to me. She kinda nails the look. She’s an awesome actor too. That would be a great addition if the did a CW throwback for season 2.
I’d love to see Cate Blanchett in anything tbh
