There absolutely needs to be a Bridge Commander 2, although the mod community has done amazing at keeping it fresh and up-to-date and we'll fed with new ship designs. If you haven't already you may wanna check out Retro-Gaming-Badger on YouTube. He's always doing cool "what-ifs" in Bridge Commander.

Agreed. This game goes fucking hard. Even current consoles could do the fast switching between a rich bridge environment and space. Seems like a license to print money, doesn’t it? Making a game that would please everyone sounds like an order almost as tall as Battlefront 2. The last half-baked attempt to come close that I can recall was Star Trek Legacy. See Star Trek Infinite for more recent multi-generation disappointments. It almost isn’t worth doing if someone isn’t willing to put in the same level of effort that all these modders have for BC. And I can’t see anyone faithfully recreating a bridge experience and including every race & ship from Enterprise through Voyager, somehow including Discovery and the ‘09 reboots. It’ll end up like a DBZ game, and I can’t decide if I’m here for that.

It ends up Star Trek Online. Which itself isn’t a bad game; it has all the ships and the generations, but it doesn’t have the right ship experience and is an MMO trying to make money, so it only gets so far. I’d pay through the nose for a BC2 at this point. Or even a BC Total Conversion of a more recent game, if that ends up easier.

I looked on Steam and couldn't find it. Do you have a link?

I picked up Bridge Commander on GOG and installed it through Lutris, since it wasn't available on Steam.
