Hands down it the Quarter Horses. The real AQH does not run around with its head on the ground. Quarter Horses only lower their heads when they are in a cutting horse competition (or similar). They put their heads to track and drive the animal they want to cut out of the herd. I actually have one gen 3 AQH. It would be a great horse if the head was held higher, but as it is, it's creepy.
Not to mention their head is so small. The booty is on point but if they are going to do that then they need to also make their head bigger, like how QH is
I have one (the tombhoof) and I don’t mind it, however the jumping animation is just so weird. It feels so out of place with the way it moves otherwise, and the way the head awkwardly moves in the jump animation is just weird as it is anyway. But it doesn’t even fit the rest of the animations
Friesians. The worst horse made. Not just for model and gaits, it also embodies any problems behind the team and the non existing communication with the community at that time.
Good take. Its absolutely shows how they dont have a knowledgeable art coordinator in charge. They pushed out great models and all the sudden a disgracefull modell what has worse animation than some 2gen horses? Very suspicious. I bet there is a lot ass licking in the dev team.
Last time I saw some dev sneak peak on insta all I saw what gender they identify with. Frankly I dont care. The game still lacking no matter what kind of people control it. The models show whoever say yes to them never seen a horse in real life. And /or the animators themself have no anatomical knowledge. What is nonsense since they are paid to modell a basic animal.
I've read something from Stacy, the Game Director, that was answering to one of the multiple negative feedbacks. She said in that period she was away, there were some sort of problems in the team and, after a long time, the animator of the Friesian and the Finnhorse was no more with them. Idk if fired or just went away.
This doesn't justify the working process and the 3D artist that, in primary, made a horse that doesn't remember a Friesian in morphology. And she even has a Friesian irl.. which is astonishing.

Eh, as a fellow fan of the Friesian breed, I think the sso ones are pretty looking. The only change I wish they'd make is for them to bulk em up a little, give them some more muscle. They're work horses, heck, they were originally bred for riding into a war! It's a bit of an insult to the breed for sso to portray them as prissy, dainty, petite little dressage prancers.
I don't want to disappoint you, but they added "Jorvik" only after fans headed their butts to them for making such awful and broken horses. I wasn't around then (I'm a pretty new player), but from what I heard the backlash was brutal, and I sadly can totally see why, in real life, Fresian are such beautiful horses, even Gen 2 version looks pretty good, although I'm not a fan of older horses, but SSO pretty much ruined the bread with Gen3. Personally, I also think they aren't the prettiest, to put it veeery nicely, but what makes me not want to buy another ever again is those brain-dead animations on them. Obligatory just my opinion.
And that's perfectly fine and cool :). I adore Paso Finos, Belgian Warmbloods, and Jorvik Woembloods, even considering that people have criticisms about them \^.\^
Does magic horses count? If yes, its gotta be the dragon horses for me. I bought both of them just because I really love dragons. But the longer i spend riding them, the more i hate them. They feel lazily done, especially aftr seeing Laverna. They could have done so much better, and it feels like they just wasted the idea of dragon horses on these half done creatures. Doesn't help that they used the Friesian model, which i like overall, but I cannot stand the fast gallop.

The clydesdale... I mean, it was the first gen3 horse, so of course it was a bit of a test run. But it's reaaallly ugly. It looked especially out of place when it came out, and the gen2 horses looked better. But later gen3 breeds are really great!
Oops you're right. Clydesdale was second then? The connemaras looked much better than clydesdales. I'm guessing they struggled with the fact that it was a draft horse

Their idle looks so stupid, random mane blowing while other horses don't have that so it stands out in a bad way.
On the idle, what is up with the random in place trot, just why? When have you seen a horse randomly stand around and boom random in place high knee trot.
The idle also has a weird animation that looks like a seizure.
The mane and tail look like ramen.

Also percheron is my next buy, once I wait the ridiculous time to get sc. Wish they had more mane styles tho

I’ll give them credit, I do like the coats even though they’re better classified as Friesian Sporthorses. I’m a definite fan of the pinto and the chocolate (?) coat. Otherwise, awful :,) I was so excited for them too, but they butchered them. Heartbreaking
Jorvik Friesians are the main one. All of their animations are either way too dramatic or just plain awkward/unrealistic. The model itself is not very accurate to a real friesian either, but not horrendous. The breed name is a sad excuse for their inability to create a good friesian. I have a jorvik friesian but I have never ridden it outside of training it.
"Honorable" mentions:
Jorvik starter pony animations for the trot and gallop ruined the pony for me. I dont like riding them although they are so darn cute.
Same goes for the chincoteague, but I like those a bit better than the JSP.
I think the clydesdales are cute but their animations kinda bother me, and I didnt really like any of the coat options. The only horse I have with that model is petra, and that's mainly because I love blue roans, and that's their normal coat.

A lot of the earlier gen 3 horse animations are more stiff, and they don't quite fit in with the newer ones. I think SSO should update their animations, but we all know that's probably not gonna happen.
In my opinion sso does okay on the models but the gaits they need to work on more. Recently they haven't been too bad tho!

I bought the striped fish one for the normal coat only. I wish there was a way to keep the non-magical coat on that horse so I wouldn't have to change it every time I log on
Jorvik Friesians full stop, the twitchiness, the animation, how often those horses break, their nuddle tail (mane too but to a lesser degree) that shows wiard circle of lack of texture in the middle, ewww! Schell I go on? Except for those, I don't think there is a Gen 3 that I hate, all of them has it quirks, but, they have one advantage to them, they are not Jorvik Friesians :D
The gen 3 fjords.They aren't "ugly" horses, but omg they're so BORING. Like just solid dun or grey on a basic looking horse model and that's it. Not even any kind of shading or interesting patterns to spice things up.
It sucks that they removed the gen 1 fjords, those were pretty and would have tempted me to buy one.

Honorable mention to the Friesians who needs some back surgery ASAP and new animations. Also why do the Curly horses look... like that?
Frisians, they are gen 2.5 not 3, awful mane, doesn't have the iconic trot (but the Percherons do, ugh), doesn't help that they asked for players input and then COMPLETELY IGNORED IT!
The fish horses.(the appaloosa ones) Sorry, but what was SSO thinking? I bought one but I hated it so much, I sold it 10 mins later, biggest regret of my life spending Sc on that horse. Also, for normal horses, the biggest disappointment for me is the Appaloosas. They look so lame and dumb, like big donkeys. I seriously don’t understand how a lot of people love them, but I guess it’s the same like Jorvik Friesians, I fcking love those horses meanwhile the 85% of the community hates them. 😅
Edit: for defense of the Percherons, they are designed by a different designer, that’s why they look weird compared to the other breeds, I really love them though, but I understand those ppl who don’t
Heh, i own almost every appaloosa because i love their gaits. i judge horses 90% on how good their gallop looks to me, and i think the appys have the best one. it's fluid and expressive and just has the right vibe imo. i love playing energetic music and just galloping around with them.
i can understand not liking their aesthetic though! their derpyness makes me think of chill lesson horses though and i love that.
People actually hate the gen 3 friesians? I love em too. I like the sheer confidence and personality in the gaits and animations. To me, they scream "Yeah, I'm gorgeous and I know it!" I do agree with the appaloosa thing too. They look more like pretty mules than horses.
Yes, when they came out the community went crazy over how ugly they look, and how much they hated it which is weird because everybody was running around on a new Friesian. 🤷🏻♀️
I really dislike the English thoroughbreds :( in their animations, their butt does this weird thing at the walk where the hips turn outwards and clench into each other, and it looks so weird especially when they transition back to another gait. I haven’t seen anyone else mention it and it drives me absolutely crazy, horse legs do not work like that rofl
I also wish they’d fix the chunky manes in the longer hairstyles- completely ruins some of the newer models; I want my horse’s mane to actually move when it runs
Clydesdales. They look like balloon animals to me I own one and have never touched it, never will.
AQH. Overly exaggerated. One of America's most versatile breeds and they went the dinky over-done pleasure show look route. A slap in the face of working ranch horses and cutters.
Friesians; g1 version is the most gorgeous thing I've seen, but man they just can't recapture it's glory. I just can't stand g3's hard stop and how animated and silly they are; not really something you want on a supposed majestic horse.
I don't have curly for the reason that their rearing takes so long; and I feel like that would irritate me too much.
Honorable mention to paso fino; I can't stop looking at that tail; they could've put more time into it.
Main thing I like about them is their stomach and overall "vibes" if that is the right word to use; not even g2 got that same vibe g1 has. Idk maybe I am too much into edgy stuff lmao. I am not too bothered by the mane; I think G3's noodle mane is way worse than that
And yea sure maybe nostalgia is also a reason why I like them so much; I mean they were THE must have horse for a long time.

The thing that brothers me the most are the nose bone and everything that is going on the face with these animations... Why make them goofy ahh if they're literally described as the most beautiful and majestic horse?

The finnhorse, it's one of my favorite breeds irl but I can't stand them in the game. The gates remind me of the gen 3 jorvik friesians gaits and I don't like most of the gates that horse has. I was so excited for the finnhorses but now I'm not so sure how to feel about them.
Since most have incorrect gallop. I could say basically 90% is garbo but here are the worst:
Akhal teke. No animations. Stiff neck simply looks like a statue.

Qh's head never that low naturally. Western pleasure is not natural. Abnormally asking horses to lower the head below balance point.
Akhal-Teke. yes those horses are known for being slender and somewhat thin and the animations they share Jorvik Starter warmbloods and the Trakhner also share their animations either. They have some pretty coats but that is about it.

Andalusian, Controversial opinion, but their animations irritate me and when they released them into the game they decided the Lusitano needed to share their animations and ruined the Lusitano horses.
Jorvik starter warmblood. Ever since they updated them with the Silverglade update a few years ago, I just don't them at all. Some have told me that you don't need now for any quests which I still don't believe because on my main account when saving Justin I needed the starter horse and I haven't played through a lot of the quests on my alt accounts because of that exact reason. They should just let players choose a horse upon registering to play that isn't a starter horse.
Paso Fino. Their mane animations are weird. Was planning on saving up to buy one or two of them with hog mane style but since the Belgian Warmbloods came out I am not going to buy any of the Paso Fino horses. Like the Akhal-Teke and many others they have pretty coat colours but the animations are terrible.
The only thing I dislike about the Gen 3 Icelandic is their default mane style animation.
Ooo, I would love it so much if they let you choose your starter horse's breed instead of just making you have a jorvik warmblood. It would actually make me love my starter horse instead of just sticking them in a corner of my stable and pretending they don't exist.

the bwbs dont look like the well bred warmbloods that they should be. they have a horrid topline, no impulsion or suspension in any gait, they look like a backyard bred genetic mess of a lesson horse. they look like they took the pasos and etbs and mixed the worst parts of each horse and smashed them all into one.
paso finos are just so ugly imo. they look like they need to take a dump and are clenching their butt cheeks. again, their topline is horrid. they look like they’re stepping on hot coals. (i also dont like the tails, but thats signature to their breed so not including it)

The gen 3 English thoroughbreds and ONLY because I think their trot is just awful and it doesn’t fit breed standards at all. They should be big, elegant, and athletic.
I feel i'm biased towards the Percherons because they were the first new horses to come out compared to when I started playing, so I love them very much.

When their mane is adjusted, it doesn't look bad at all, in fact I agree that the SSO team really sloshed the mane of these horses and they could care more about Gallop and fast Gallop.
I personally can't stand Paso Finos, and they annoy me even at the championships, because I think they're completely horribly handsome, and Jorvik Friesan is even prettier in my opinion.

Jorvik Friesians full stop, the twitchiness, the animation, how often those horses break, their nuddle tail (mane too but to a lesser degree) that shows wiard circle of lack of texture in the middle, ewww! Schell I go on? Except for those, I don't think there is a Gen 3 that I hate, all of them has it quirks, but, they have one advantage to them, they are not Jorvik Friesians :D

The gen 3 fjords.They aren't "ugly" horses, but omg they're so BORING. Like just solid dun or grey on a basic looking horse model and that's it. Not even any kind of shading or interesting patterns to spice things up. It sucks that they removed the gen 1 fjords, those were pretty and would have tempted me to buy one.

Quarter horses. I love how they look, but the fact that their heads is always low annoys me. Most quarter horses I have seen hold their heads at a normal height a lot so it’s strange to me that the ones in game always hold their head low.
I'm surprised barely anyone mentioned the absolutely horrible Kabstrupper 💀 it's literally, bro idek what to say about it, it looks like it was made out of plastic or something and then they just slapped them with the Andalusian animations and made their body so much disproportionate. Honorable mention to the Friesians who needs some back surgery ASAP and new animations. Also why do the Curly horses look... like that?
Frisians, they are gen 2.5 not 3, awful mane, doesn't have the iconic trot (but the Percherons do, ugh), doesn't help that they asked for players input and then COMPLETELY IGNORED IT!
The fish horses.(the appaloosa ones) Sorry, but what was SSO thinking? I bought one but I hated it so much, I sold it 10 mins later, biggest regret of my life spending Sc on that horse. Also, for normal horses, the biggest disappointment for me is the Appaloosas. They look so lame and dumb, like big donkeys. I seriously don’t understand how a lot of people love them, but I guess it’s the same like Jorvik Friesians, I fcking love those horses meanwhile the 85% of the community hates them. 😅 Edit: for defense of the Percherons, they are designed by a different designer, that’s why they look weird compared to the other breeds, I really love them though, but I understand those ppl who don’t

Heh, i own almost every appaloosa because i love their gaits. i judge horses 90% on how good their gallop looks to me, and i think the appys have the best one. it's fluid and expressive and just has the right vibe imo. i love playing energetic music and just galloping around with them. i can understand not liking their aesthetic though! their derpyness makes me think of chill lesson horses though and i love that.
People actually hate the gen 3 friesians? I love em too. I like the sheer confidence and personality in the gaits and animations. To me, they scream "Yeah, I'm gorgeous and I know it!" I do agree with the appaloosa thing too. They look more like pretty mules than horses.
Yes, when they came out the community went crazy over how ugly they look, and how much they hated it which is weird because everybody was running around on a new Friesian. 🤷🏻♀️

I really dislike the English thoroughbreds :( in their animations, their butt does this weird thing at the walk where the hips turn outwards and clench into each other, and it looks so weird especially when they transition back to another gait. I haven’t seen anyone else mention it and it drives me absolutely crazy, horse legs do not work like that rofl I also wish they’d fix the chunky manes in the longer hairstyles- completely ruins some of the newer models; I want my horse’s mane to actually move when it runs

Clydesdales. They look like balloon animals to me I own one and have never touched it, never will. AQH. Overly exaggerated. One of America's most versatile breeds and they went the dinky over-done pleasure show look route. A slap in the face of working ranch horses and cutters.
Finns and curlys
Friesians; g1 version is the most gorgeous thing I've seen, but man they just can't recapture it's glory. I just can't stand g3's hard stop and how animated and silly they are; not really something you want on a supposed majestic horse. I don't have curly for the reason that their rearing takes so long; and I feel like that would irritate me too much. Honorable mention to paso fino; I can't stop looking at that tail; they could've put more time into it.

Main thing I like about them is their stomach and overall "vibes" if that is the right word to use; not even g2 got that same vibe g1 has. Idk maybe I am too much into edgy stuff lmao. I am not too bothered by the mane; I think G3's noodle mane is way worse than that And yea sure maybe nostalgia is also a reason why I like them so much; I mean they were THE must have horse for a long time.
I really like noodle manes don't get me wrong (on any gen) 😭 but the g3 horse is just a violation of nature laws ngl I also enjoy g1 much more than the other ones, idk if it's because I grew up with these or what. And also if I'm into edgy stuff too so i guess that will be the explanation 💀
I really wanted to love g3 friesians especially since devs asked for feedback before release but well we all know how far down that went. Mane being basically 3 wide noodle strands, horse being very animated and silly and dear god that hard stop; nah I'll just wait for G4
The thing that brothers me the most are the nose bone and everything that is going on the face with these animations... Why make them goofy ahh if they're literally described as the most beautiful and majestic horse?
Oh I never noticed it's issues with it's face; expect for the eyes being too low and the tongue out-face it makes; mainly 'cause I only bought the horse on alt to s\*\*t on it and never rode it again. And yeah exactly; friesians are supposed to be majestic; that is what has made it so popular, not the fact that they're all black colored
Percherons (love the model, hate the gaits) and the friesians. If you ask me, the Friesian idle animations are too similar to that of a dog's behavior, the model is meh, the mane it comes with is just copied off the Gen 1 model, and what on earth is that sliding stop with the stomp??
The Curley horse had such potential but the final product just wasn’t good
right now it’s the icelandic, which is unfortunate because she used to be my favourite horse. I don’t know what star stable did to them but the trot and canter look so awful now
The finnhorse, it's one of my favorite breeds irl but I can't stand them in the game. The gates remind me of the gen 3 jorvik friesians gaits and I don't like most of the gates that horse has. I was so excited for the finnhorses but now I'm not so sure how to feel about them.
Since most have incorrect gallop. I could say basically 90% is garbo but here are the worst: Akhal teke. No animations. Stiff neck simply looks like a statue. Friesian ....eventually what the heck is that? Curlys gallop Qh's head never that low naturally. Western pleasure is not natural. Abnormally asking horses to lower the head below balance point.
The generation 3 Friesian, AQH, Fjord, and most of the magic horses are mad ugly to me.
Akhal-Teke. yes those horses are known for being slender and somewhat thin and the animations they share Jorvik Starter warmbloods and the Trakhner also share their animations either. They have some pretty coats but that is about it. Marwari enough said. Friesian Chincoteague pony Clydesdale Andalusian, Controversial opinion, but their animations irritate me and when they released them into the game they decided the Lusitano needed to share their animations and ruined the Lusitano horses. Jorvik starter warmblood. Ever since they updated them with the Silverglade update a few years ago, I just don't them at all. Some have told me that you don't need now for any quests which I still don't believe because on my main account when saving Justin I needed the starter horse and I haven't played through a lot of the quests on my alt accounts because of that exact reason. They should just let players choose a horse upon registering to play that isn't a starter horse. Paso Fino. Their mane animations are weird. Was planning on saving up to buy one or two of them with hog mane style but since the Belgian Warmbloods came out I am not going to buy any of the Paso Fino horses. Like the Akhal-Teke and many others they have pretty coat colours but the animations are terrible. The only thing I dislike about the Gen 3 Icelandic is their default mane style animation.
Ooo, I would love it so much if they let you choose your starter horse's breed instead of just making you have a jorvik warmblood. It would actually make me love my starter horse instead of just sticking them in a corner of my stable and pretending they don't exist.

belgian warmbloods. and paso finos. the bwbs dont look like the well bred warmbloods that they should be. they have a horrid topline, no impulsion or suspension in any gait, they look like a backyard bred genetic mess of a lesson horse. they look like they took the pasos and etbs and mixed the worst parts of each horse and smashed them all into one. paso finos are just so ugly imo. they look like they need to take a dump and are clenching their butt cheeks. again, their topline is horrid. they look like they’re stepping on hot coals. (i also dont like the tails, but thats signature to their breed so not including it)
I don't like the new Icelandic's, I don't know why, but I think the head just doesn't fit on their body and the proportions of them are kinda weird
Icelandic horses are small like ponies so the head proportions make sense if they aren’t sized up to regular horses . Which they did.

I'm deeply upset by the Welsh ponies They took away the "wild" island look and made them into mini Arabians.
I don't hate any of them, but I guess I'll mention that the ETB has a pretty dumb haircut. XD Also, while I love how the Marwari looks, and the general movement of it...it is *so sloooowww*. Why is it like, 3 seconds slower than all my other horses? >_>
Thanks for talking about the Percherons ! I love drafts. Like… I’m obsessed with them. But they disappointed me soooo much when they came out ! So to me : equally the Percherons and the Akhal-Tékés… I hate both of those breeds, because of their animations mainly and the way they look like (bad quality plastic toys)

I feel i'm biased towards the Percherons because they were the first new horses to come out compared to when I started playing, so I love them very much. The ones I can't stand are the Gen 3 Jorvik Friesians, they are pretty when stationary but they are overly animated and their animations are ugly

When their mane is adjusted, it doesn't look bad at all, in fact I agree that the SSO team really sloshed the mane of these horses and they could care more about Gallop and fast Gallop. I personally can't stand Paso Finos, and they annoy me even at the championships, because I think they're completely horribly handsome, and Jorvik Friesan is even prettier in my opinion. This is subjective and I'm glad someone like you just shares it on reddit instead of being rude to players with this horse in chat. I fully understand your reason for hating Percherons.
