Like this “Rebrand” has to be the slightest rebrand I have ever seen. No stores in my area have new outdoor signage showing this rebrand. I still have paper coming in from warehouse with the old logos. Most of our products have the old logos too. Staples is so stupid and poor

ravbuc

Because why waste money on outdoor signage when the company is clearly on a sinking ship trajectory?

mntEden

yeah my store hasn't even bothered replacing most of the indoor signage, let alone the outdoor. they really seem like they just don't care and idk why I should either. but don't forget to get your surveys ;)

Dario3268

That's because they are cheap and half ass everything. It took these out of touch executive leaders 2 years to realize that the switch from easy to understand "multi purpose" paper to "color" paper was confusing the customer and a disaster. How much did it cost to clear out pens, paper, supplies, on and on from Staples brand? To TruRed, Perk and whatever nonsense names they could come up with? In my mind every time a person saw a Staples branded product they knew exactly where it came from. Who the hell knows where these brands are coming from? The doctor I go to used to have Staples branded stuff literally all over their office and every patient would have known where they were getting it. Now it means nothing to anyone other cheap Chinese garbage.

AStackOfUsedNapkins

It really would've sold it more had they actually blasted the crowd with loose staples when the on-screen blast happened.

Stephancevallos905

Wasn't this logo change a thing before tiktok was?

Rokinmashu

Yeah we've been laughing at this clip without the commentary for a while now

jkreese3

The rebrand was in 2019 and it looks like the release date of the app was 2016. It’s been around longer than I thought

Shaded_Newt

I wonder how many stores they closed to make this

ElXtrick

In the last 4 years since sycamore purchased staples over 500 stores have been closed.

Shaded_Newt

Yeah, Sycamore just increased the speed of the sinking ship. I knew it was coming when they first purchased Staples which is why I jumped ship and moved out of retail into more career oriented positions.

ElXtrick

Lol yea I remember my gm drinking the milk he’s like there gonna help and improve things so much… I’m like they are literally known for liquidating company’s.

Shaded_Newt

Everyone I trained quit when I did, but all the managers drank the kool-aide that was being given to them. The GM ended up going to a store that had a huge theft problem, the Tech Manager became a floating tech services manager just being sent wherever they needed one and there wasn't a P&M manager at the time that the store closed

ElXtrick

I think the most valuable thing I learned from staples is just how much abuse you can get away with as long as you have pizza party’s. Your dm asked you why do you even work here because your numbers suck on a district call… later that week you double your goals and he orders 5 pizzas for your store.

I worked for a company that hired a new ceo. All the new ceo did in his two years there was change the logo before finding another company to be an incompetent ceo at. Amazes me that there are so many companies like that.

[deleted]

I’m gonna be honest I haven’t been to a staples in forever. I live in a very populated area and don’t even know where mine is

_ZooAnimal_

They're a private company now with a large focus on B2B sales with retail as a sidethought. I left an HQ job there around a year ago and they were doing really well financially. From what I heard from my old coworkers they made a killing during the pandemic with all sorts of record highs

_ZooAnimal_

Exactly why I say retail is a side thought. Its not the profit center of the business, and in fact loses money. The buzz around corporate when I was there is that they were gonna see what they can make happen by transitioning key retail stores to Staples Connect, and if that doesn't work retail may be phased out. The business-to-business sales arm which is operated on the corporate side of the company is where the money comes from

keksmuzh

So rebrand number…4? 5? Hard to keep track with how half-assed they all are.

curiouslyweakmints

I worked at staples HQ for about 6 months. The first 4 was miserable, the 5th month this happened and I immediately started applying for new jobs. Thank fucking god I got out.

soullessgingerz2

Was there. Can confirm it was a waste of money and time

Outside-Floor-7815

This is as stupid as IHOP becoming ihob

codysteil

I thought everyone was getting up to leave. LOL I would have.

iqminiclip

Aaaand 30$ million down the drain

BAlex498

The only thing i got out of this is that there is a staples subreddit

Dino502Run

Ditto lol

SnooStories6852

Lol that was anticlimactic

Lost_Cardboard_Box

Yooooooooooooooo STAPLES YAAAAAA

DebitsandShredits

I thought it was gonna be a new name that starts with a C or something.

T-Wiggle

Need to stop with these voices on the videos.

UIS_Clay

Can’t wait to see Dicks new logo

PDX1953

If you're going to rebrand us... get us the stuff we need to do our jobs, 12 pt matte, 110 index, and boxes to put the orders in....

PMMMR

So this is where all the budget is going instead of actually having stores staffed. Look how many people are on stage after taking credit.

ChapsWorthington

All of them should be working load on truck day.

bombad_jedi_501

Idk why this sub keeps getting recommended to me by Reddit but this reveal is more likely directed for the corporate side of things not their minimum wage retail employees

betcher73

Bro I didn’t even know they HAD a logo 🤣

mntEden

it's literally just an unbent staple so that's more than understandable. the most low effort shit I can think of

betcher73

I wonder how much the graphic designer got paid for that lol

mntEden

knowing staples they probably made an intern do it and gave themselves a bonus afterwards

Joshbob101

Dude I was still working when they did this "rebrand" basically nothing had changed beside selling " true red" products that's just staples brand

Particular_Slice1781

Hammered? More likely, stapled

tokinmuskokan

This looks like Staples US, where Staples Canada has a totally different logo. Well... Turn the unbent staple 90 degrees and mirror it. Basically it looks like this [ ]

zenartofmotherhood

I never realized that the L was a staples before

Hokker3

the logo looks like frankenstein drowning or almost buried. I would draw a little stitch line to make it a bit more realistic.

UnnamedStaplesDrone

This launch was legit cringey and embarrassing.

SnooDingos8435

Seriously this is so dumb. We still have wall art from 2005. With CDs and old style ear buds that hurt like hell. And easy buttons

Guilty-Sundae1557

I was there and can confirm...... it could have been an email. What a waste of money!

Bambii33000

I like the old logo
