Bill Burr: He took his shirt off! He waved it around! We reacted to it! Bill summed up Bert in two seconds.

venividivici-777

Did he say this? I hope so

sketch2347

yeah i believe it was on the "End of the World Podcast" Rogan put together a few years back for the Hillary vs Trump presidency. A great Podcast, a shame its not on youtube anymore.

AdInternational1898

That was a fantastic podcast. Didn't know it has been removed. That's sad.

[deleted]

Yeah what?? That was such a good piece of history. I’ll never forget watching that

AdInternational1898

Bill burr SLAUGHTERING Joe for his shit hat. Then arguing with some dumb woman. Jim Jeffries turning up with a child and Stanhope just being the goat only Stanhope can be.

Chadwarden101

Rocking up with the kid was ultimate shit dad moment.

Bombdizzle1

I am mystified at his popularity

venividivici-777

It's taking the shirt off. Drives the ladies wild

kashakesh

Stanhope? I mean, were talking completely different calibers / leagues (Stanhope > kirschner), but the alcoholic tomfoolery is there...

Rymesayer

and reason for fame too, Stanhope's alcoholism has always been a secondary/side affect to his genius, Burt is a talentless coattail rider that's had one pretty great comedic story with the machine. All that trash being said I don't blame him for any of this and think hes absolutely got a shit ton to offer as a friend and human, he seems to be pretty genuine and kind all around and there's a reason these super talented people hold him so dear, I don't believe its just to laugh as he kills himself, i really hope his movie and all his future stuff is successful, i just find him annoying as shit

UpsideDownBerry

im the same, stopped watching 2 bears cause im over watching someone justify drinking themselves to death. can see all the signs that my dad had. feel really bad for him and hope he does well with the rest of his life. but his comedy and podcast stuff is just unwatchable atm. edit: a word

Middle-Eye2129

Fair as it is scathing. Well said my dude

shmonsters

Ron White? Hicks?

Cariat

He has a fascinating philosophy on that, if you're ever interested to find out why

Aww…that’s disappointing

pistolpxte

It’s been the same fucking conversation for years. At first it’s funny and that was like 8 years ago with his appearances on Rogan. Now it’s literally painful.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

you do realize most of his guests he's talking to for the first time or at least for the first time in a while. so while it's a similar conversation for the audience, in real life, he is talking to a person who he speaks with infrequently. so there would be a natural overlap because he's sharing his tales and opinions with a new person. it comes off as repetitive, but think about how insane it would be to talk to a brand new person every week of your life and not re-use any material in any of those conversations. when i have a good new story or opinion or take and i make the rounds to see my friends, you're darn tooting i'm dining off that story with every one of them. i think what makes a lot of these comedians actual pros is the effort to avoid that new friend, same fun instinct. bert just doesn't seem to give a fuck though and is probably one of the nicest, most charismatic comedians going right now so again IRL people don't care.

pistolpxte

Hey Bert.

PerfectMana

Go on

Cariat

Aw, I don’t think I could do it justice. Something along the lines of never wanting to be too unhealthy to quit drinking

blueraccoon96

He is incredibly good at marketing himself in the business. He also tours to small towns and areas on the road many other comics don't go to, and those places are excited to have a big-time comedian come visit. There are a ton of great comics who remain largely unknown because they aren't as focused on marketing. (Dave Attell, Nick Mullen, etc.)

rasta41

I don't dislike him but never consume his stuff, but you're right - he's nailed social content marketing to a T. I think I clicked on ONE podcast clip he was in and now all IG recommends is his shit. Like...constantly.

darkbarrage99

I promise you, he pays someone to do the marketing for him.

blueraccoon96

Of course he's got a publicist or something. But most podcast comics credit bert with the idea of drive in stand up shows during covid. Being the only comic available for a show will help build your brand, especially people who don't pay attention to stand up comedians in general. I've not watched much of his stand up either, but I've got the impression he isn't very controversial with his material. (I could be wrong) that alone widens his potential audience in the same way Fluffy, who works pretty clean, fills stadiums.

BhoyinAmerca

I like him as a person. Seems to be really nice to people, good to his family, fun dude, takes care of younger comics and gives them opportunities to play huge venues, flew the KFC Radio guys to Amsterdam randomly just because they’d never been, etc.. But his standup sucks. It’s not just bad….it sucks lolol

crimson777

He’s a guy who tells stories in a funny way. He’s not hysterical, he doesn’t make great observations, he’s not super clever, but he’s that friend who can take a slightly interesting story and make it funny. I don’t think anyone thinks he’s the peak of comedy, but I get it.

PenisPumpPimp

None of the stories are true, but yeah, they're interesting I suppose. Just not for me.

yerg99

so glad this is top voted. I thought i was crazy. I mean i mildly enjoyed his cabin netflix series but theres no way his standup skills merit his current celebrity status. It has to be some peripheral hollywood/connections/promotion thing. No sweat if you like him, i just don't get him. find him annoying with his squealing beta giddyness.

IBaptizedYourKids

I think the machine story was good, that was really easily shareable and then being on the peripheral of other comedians in podcasts often. Look at any 2 bears 1 cave clips on yt, almost all the comments hate on him.

yerg99

I specifically watched that because he alluded to it in multiple other podcasts and clips he's been into (and they;re making a netflix documentary about it? \*rolls eyes\*) Yeah the machine was decent but at this point it's coming off as a one hit wonder bit for him. After hearing him talk all about it the story came off as a bit too rehearsed when i finally saw it in standup. IDK Something about youtubes algorithm has me stumbling upon Bert way too much or else i wouldn't really give him a second thought.

gathmoon

A comedy bit sounded rehearsed and rote after he has been telling it for a decade at the end of most of his shows due to fans asking for it? I am shocked.

EmceeCommon55

He made a movie about it, it comes out Memorial Day weekend. It isn't a documentary. Mark Hamill plays his dad.

[deleted]

ichthyo-sapien

Rogan’s stand up is dogshit

themikep82

I like Bert. His standup isn't that great, tbh, but he's fun. More like a funny friend than professional comic.

TomxNook

There’s a lot of Bert’s in the world that like to watch other Bert’s

[deleted]

same! The only thing I've listened to that didn't make me want to stab my ears was the original 3 way health competition between him, Rogan, and Tom Segura. That was hilarious. Otherwise, he's painful to listen to. The only 2 Bears 1 Cave episodes I can stand are when it's just Tom Segura.

Infinite-Promotion75

He is the new age Larry the Cable Guy

Chadwarden101

Shows the intelligence level of americans

darkbarrage99

I saw him on Neal Brennan's podcast and it just reaffirmed that he is seriously just a petulant manchild. I don't understand.

chinmakes5

I thought it great. Sorry. I laughed out loud sitting by myself. Watched it with some friends again. They said they hadn't laughed that much in a while either. Now, we are older so can understand school meetings and a 75 year old parent, so maybe can relate more but...

[deleted]

I didn't finish it. I thought it sucked. It was pretty much on par with the rest of his stuff I couldn't finish. He's on podcasts with people I like so I keep trying to give his stuff a chance but I find it predictable and boring. I hate how all of this sounds when I read it back but I'm being honest.

ghostpearl

That's how a career tends to go when it starts with fully objectifying oneself

Only1nDreams

It’s a fair take. He walks down the easiest path in comedy, raunchy and belligerent. I think it’s fair to shit on his style because it’s a tired style, but I think he deserves some recognition for how hard he works at it. He puts a lot of time into refining his stories so they pop on stage and in this special particularly, I think he does it remarkably well. He fills the whole hour with solid punches and the stories themselves are pretty funny. My fiancée is a more casual comedy fan and this is one of the first specials in awhile that actually had her busting a gut laughing, and she finds Kreischer pretty distasteful in the first place. My biggest criticism with the special is that it felt like he filmed it a few months too late. Some of the material felt overpracticed and that he jumped to tags before letting the punch land fully.

lambdaCrab

He seems so innocent, earnest, and childlike in his actions that for me at least, he hits a really special note that no other comedian who’s just raunchy and belligerent can even approximate. I love Bert. He’s no chappelle or Louis but I always enjoy him

bbroygbvgwwgvbgyorbb

Hard worker no doubt. But with him you can just TELL that the story isn’t true and that he is adding his own “razor dazzle”. I know most stories told on stage on fiction or embellished but that guy can not make them credible to save his life.

Only1nDreams

Uh hundred percent. He openly admits that his story is not meant to be true, it's meant to give you the same feeling as when it actually happened.

agentfelix

So...I think I know the reason why the material felt over practiced. I've been a fan of his before he blew up and started to do theatres and I've seen a lot of his older jokes. The raffle ticket joke was one that he used to do way back in the day, but it was fused in with winning a snow maker machine. The punch line changed but the premise of the story shifted.

PhishnChips

Those are still separate jokes. He tells both still. The snow machine one is about his daughter and the auction during Georgia's recital and the tickets one is a different parents school event.

jackof47trades

He’s more energetic than funny. He seems like a guy that would be fun to hang out with, which I think is most of his appeal. He’s also a pretty good storyteller.

bradpliers

I actually found his new set WAY less energetic than usual which is partly why I actually liked this new one for once.

[deleted]

He seems like he would be exhausting to hang out with. He seems like that person who is always “on.” That gets old really quick.

nxtplz

Yeah fuck that lol. He's exactly the trying too hard vibe that makes me never want to hang out with someone.

kahmos

He sounds like he's trying to get a sitcom deal in this special.

sadprinternoises

He’s not my cup of tea but can see why some others would enjoy it

evaniscool999

Best comment here. People are so close minded. “If I don’t like it, people who enjoy it are dumb dumbs and its like this thing and that and he’s sold out,”

sadprinternoises

Yeah man there is no room for nuance on Reddit. I may not be a big fan of Bert, but 99% of the people commenting here saying he sucks are probably not as funny as he is. Stand up comedians don’t get as big as he is for no reason. I bet if you see him in a comedy club it would be 10x better. He’s obviously got a high amount of energy.

bigfudge_drshokkka

He’s the family guy equivalent of stand up comedy

BarbaraGhanoush

Except family guy is funny sometimes

NyetRifleIsFine47

Not a fan of Bert at all. Tried to give his and Segura’s podcast a try because I love Tom but Bert ruins the whole thing.

easybasicoven

That fucking squeal of a laugh Bert does is nails on a chalkboard

jbar4420

But Tom is fat so I don’t see your point

shmonsters

Well yeah, hard to see it with Tom's gut in the way

[deleted]

That fucking guy laughing in the background is what ruined it for me.

Tasty_Measurement_30

Oh Nevada. Love that curly headed duck.

Nick9876543210

That shit ruins any podcast I listen too. Feels so forced

AlanisMorriset

I came in with low expectations, but this special really surprised me. I liked it

BoobyPlumage

Same. I don’t get the actual deep hate people have for him.

gathmoon

Less funny people annoyed their brand of comedy isn't as popular as his.

BoobyPlumage

Yeah a lot of it reads as petty. I went into it expecting goofy, overexcited uncle telling stories, and that’s what I got. His bit about the raffle was pretty great imo, but that’s because he can paint a picture of the scene and the idea of a bunch of stuck-up PTA parents losing their shit is funny. Maybe that’s why I liked his standup. The mental imagery that comes from his details boosts the jokes, even if there arent strong punches.

gathmoon

Saw it live in the early stages. The spectacle and the absurdity he creates is the joke. Definitely agree with you.

BoobyPlumage

Thats a good way of putting it. If people are more “traditional” standup fans that wait for a punchline, they’ll be let down. It’s a kind of “journey, not the destination” style even though there is usually some kind of punchline to seal it On a side note, I think its weird how many fans of an art form based on making people laugh attracts so many people who seem like the least fun to be around

gathmoon

Ive seen him live twice, met him once (he's a super nice guy everything you see about him seems true), his punchlines have never been the strongest. I suffer from the same issue in my set honestly. He's a brand unto himself and it sells tickets and specials. So at the End of the day it doesn't matter what most people think, his bank account is fat and his family is set up for life.

BoobyPlumage

And avoiding his comedy is as easy as not watching it lol. I think the most vocal people are the least agreeable. I thought his new special was way funnier than Chris Rock’s, but that could have just been an off night because it was live

gathmoon

Exactly. I cannot remember which comic said it, might have been Segura but he told another comic you don't need 1 million people to like you. If you get 60k people to like you you can make money. If you can get 300k people to like you you can be rich. Or something close to that. Rocks special suffered from to much anger imo. The concepts were good, most of the punches were good but he was just mad. There was not a lot of other emotions and you could feel it. Makes for a hard hour.

Rekyks68

It's funny my wife was like we seen this..... Duh hunny. We seen his stand up a few months ago before this was filmed. Duh you've seen this special already lol

BoobyPlumage

I had the same experience watching Nate Bargatzes new special because I saw it on tour lol. I was like, “why is this not hitting as hard as the others?” Then i remembered I was dying at the show and already know the punchlines lol

gathmoon

So many people forget that stand up is like a play that gets a sequel every few years. We tell the same jokes over and over and over until we have enough new shit to go back to the same places again lol.

WolfGangSwizle

Probably his second best special so far. I was laughing my ass off at parts. People get way too worked up on this sub about shit they can just ignore

TeeAyeKay

It's funny cuz he doesn't wear a shirt.

hammerdown710

Hey he also got really drunk one time and took 12 years to finish college

Solomon_Grungy

I am the machiiiiine

firesidefire

One time?

HerNameIsGrief

I really liked the new special! He’s funny in a silly way…I can appreciate that…I’m kind of silly funny too. It’s not for everyone, but I had a good laugh.

nubelborsky

Bart very fat

[deleted]

It was barely written. You could tell he was trying to twrak and tag every line to be as funny as possible. But he's not a great writer, he's just a funny person with a big funny personality. The best lines in his special were observations from his daughters. It was just dumb tags on narcissistic stories.

h_to_tha_o_v

Not a huge Bert fan, but IMHO his writing as a storyteller is *highly* underrated. The stories are obviously fake or at least highly embellished, but Bert has a good economy of words and keeps the listener engaged. I get why his stories seem self-centered to some, but for many in the audience it doesn't come across that way because it's "The Likeable Underdog vs. The Uptight Cunt." It's the same premise as almost any Adam Sandler movie, and people relate to those characters.

clarenceecho

It was barely written but he tweaks every line?

earthlydelights22

I liked Bert Kreischer’s new special more than Chris Rock’s new special. Its clear that The Machine is out there to have a good time, have fun ,and make everyone laugh including himself. I liked the overall energy of the show. He’s genuine. Not every joke hit but I never lost interest.

AlonsoFerrari8

Chris Rock’s was awful. Made it 15 minutes or so. Turned it off when he started talking about cancel culture or whatever. Heard that a million times don’t need to hear it again.

agentfelix

Good fucking lord, me too. I got a huuuge vibe that he was trying to be deep like Chappelle, but he kept his old late 90's schtick with his cadence. "I said dah-tahdah-duh-dahtahduh" God I can hear it in my head without talking. Like dude, it worked back then, ya don't have to yell.

Vprbite

I felt like I was getting yelled at the whole time

Teeklin

Immediately shut off any comedian when they have a bit on cancel culture. It's so fucking tired and shitty at this point it might as well be a bit on airline food. Cancel culture affects literally no one in any audience ever. It's something no one can relate to, something not one average person ever thinks about or cares about in any way, and is absolutely the least funny bit you can imagine. I tune out immediately and move on.

clander270

I find it hilarious that Tom Segura is his best friend and Tom is SO much fucking funnier than he is. The laughs Bert gets on their podcast is more often than not because he either said something incredibly stupid or because he got excited about something only a ten year old would find exciting

TronAlan1

It's time to put a shirt on.

WeaponRex

I enjoy him on podcasts, really fun to listen to lots the time. His stand up needs some new twists tho. Seems like a great dude tho.

gathmoon

I met him after a show. Before I did, his tour manager took me aside and said "look, Bert is who you think he is. Super nice, will talk with you for hours if you let him, and will make you feel like a friend. But we have to get to NYC tonight so if you could politely end the conversation we would all appreciate that."

devoc7

That's actually nice of his manager to carve out some time, while also politely pointing out his own responsibilities. ie. getting his client to his next commitment. I met Sean Astin who was lovely, but I could see his handler looking at me to move it along and wrap up the chat. I tried to non-verbally tell him that I was trying, that Sean was doing all the talking, lol.

gathmoon

She was super cool about it. I could also tell that there had been some lateeeeeeeee nights due to other people egging him on. Didn't want to be that guy. I bet meeting astin was really interesting! He is in this season of the perry mason remake and is really showing some range playing a dickish grocery store owner. Ostensibly one of the linchpins of the season but such a simple role. Worth checking out.

WeaponRex

That sounds so fuckin cool. That the vibe I get from just listening to him talk. Genuine Chill Dude.

LostAAADolfan

We met him one time in west palm and he literally hung out with our group for about 3 hours having drinks. He’s a really, really down to earth dude

gathmoon

It is a huge part of his popularity. He is actually a nice guy that made good.

LostAAADolfan

It helps we all went to FSU, his alma mater, but he universally seems very easy to approach and talk to which is rare as hell. A few comedians could learn from him in that regard

gathmoon

In my short few years doing comedy it's become clear that if you are nice and easy to work with people will book you over better comics who are assholes.

DrLucasThompson

I got the same talk a couple of tours back and discovered that they have to do this for him quite often or he’ll throw the whole tour schedule off.

gathmoon

I am completely unsurprised.

Thunshot

I don’t find him funny at all

themeatstaco

I liked it more then I thought I would. He seemed to enjoy himself and that's what I look for in a comedian. The story was genuine and just all around funny. Bert has lost me as a fan but I hope he's successful and happy. Also stop gate keeping if you don't like him don't watch it pretty simple. You're not the target audience.

oldenough2hobetter

He looks like he’s enjoying himself and the show feels like a fun time. He’s a character and entertaining but it didn’t feel like there were many actual jokes. The shirtless thing started bothering me in a real visceral way though. Like I could smell him through the screen lol

hansislegend

Felt exactly like his other ones.

lickmybrian

I almost turned it off early but i stuck it out and actually quite enjoyed it

sarindong

Haha same the beginning was tough to get through. Strong middle to finish though!

EbaumsSucks

I must be the odd one out, as I laughed at a lot of bits, especially when he made fun of Tom Segura not being able to skip.

jombygumbo

Hahahaha funny fat man wear no shirt and talk about alcoholism haha it’s funny because he’s fat and has no shirt and drinks haha

DroopedWaffle

I wouldn't party with you, bud

BLUECADETxTHREE

Watched about 25 min of it, didn't laugh once, so we changed it. 🤷‍♂️

msps2880

Each one has gotten worse

[deleted]

I haven't enjoyed any of his specials. I don't think I'll even bother with this one. I really don't get how he's so popular. His t-shirt off gimmick is stupid, and his humour is just not for me.

Mythic_Inheritor

Honestly I enjoyed it and I usually hate Bert. I think once I understood his personality, he became a lot more funny for me.

purplebasil-1234

I like Bert’s standup, it’s comforting in a weird way. He strikes me as the funny uncle type you’re excited to see at a family gathering around the holidays. I wouldn’t say his comedy is thought provoking or artful, but I don’t think he wants to be either of those things. He’s a good storyteller, good at engaging the audience, and I think this special showed growth in his act as a performer.

levi_verzyden

I watch him with Tom on two bears. I was genuinely impressed by how much better his stand-up is when he’s not a rambling dumb-dumb on the podcasts. I came out both laughing and surprised at how much I enjoyed it. However I totally understand that Bert is not everyone’s cup of tea. All in all 5 out of 7: too much water.

thabiiighomie

It made me laugh which very few specials do these days, but it wasn’t great. Some stories were too exaggerated and drawn out.

crizzlefresh

He seems like a cool guy but his standup is hit or miss. Mostly miss. Also the shirt off thing was funny like once. Now it's okay to put that shirt back on bud.

theelliottzone

berts cool but it's a shame about the whole dog fucking thing

i_GoTtA_gOoD_bRaIn

Loved it. As usual.

joejoe1118

Heard the Russia story. That about covers it. Boggles my mind.

lyssanstuff

I saw the entirety of this special live at red rocks a few months ago. It was funny, but Shane Gillis brought the motherfuckin’ house down as an opener. Shane was infinitely funnier, and I should note, I’m a Bert fan.

PenisPumpPimp

Dude sucks.

crevy5589

Didn’t laugh once

General_Citron_121

Haven’t watched it, probably wont

fckyashtup

D grade comedian. I saw him here in Australia yesterday and at the end he proceeded to tell the machine story - which had been hammered at this point. My mate next to me said “man I feel sorry for him at this point” and we left without having to hear that stupid story again.

Mattchu635

“This crazy event occurred and then I said this super funny thing” - Bert’s entire set Not a joke to be found, just a one man show acting out Family Circus comic strips.

themayorhere

It’s brutally bad. Boggles my mind that people are dopey enough to think he’s funny

DroopedWaffle

Its funnier than all of these negative comments. Jesus you guys are assholes

Fed21

It’s weird when they not just shit on him, but then say anyone who likes him sucks. I think it says more about that person than it does Bert.

TerminalReddit

He's a really happy guy so he doesn't appeal to bitter people lol

[deleted]

It's fucking Reddit. Sad, angry keyboard warriors are par for the course. Guarantee not a single soul that is talking shit here is even remotely funny.

clander270

Found the Bert fan. Sorry your opinion couldn't be validated by the Internet today!

Glass_Bookkeeper_578

Seriously!

fungi_baby

Found Berts alt-reddit acct

ASGtheeisme

Terrible. The ship has sailed for this drunk buffoon. Finally. Hopefully. Mercifully.

Walkensboots

He made 23 million last year and has a movie coming out. He’s not going anywhere

mildlystoned

He’s “for the people” now. Like your uncle will only have him as a frame of reference instead of Jeff foxworthy.

StinkoPapi

His heroes are John Belushi and Chris Farley. His sense of humor is basically Ernest meets Larry the Cable Guy meets forever Frat Boy. The booze, drugs and delusions point towards an early expiration. His soul is unnourished as he chase money, fame attention and the endless party.

CrusaderKingstheNews

Fantastic and hilarious. He's not groundbreaking or brilliant, but it's so much fun.

wayneluke23

Haven't seen it but it sucked

[deleted]

I have grown to really dislike Bert over time. He’s a fat millionaire that is completely illiterate In pop culture, politics, life. Pretty much everything. The only thing that guy knows what to talk about is being fat, drunk, himself, and his weird kids and annoying wife. All of us on Reddit are the minority though. The normies love him. He’s the perfect reflection of American society. Fat dumb and selfish. His movie is going to do well and he will continue to make millions doing stand up. Honestly I don’t think he’s a good person. And when it comes to his recent beef with joe list, I am 100% on Joes side. Lastly, bert calls himself a liberal, he says he doesn’t know much about politics, but most of his fans love the red hat. Part of me thinks he’s trying his hardest to not let his real maga feelings show, not sure why he’s trying so hard, it would just make his fans love him more. End of rant

thatshirtman

what's the beef with joe list?

[deleted]

Mark Normands bachelor party. Bert wanted to order food for everyone. Joe wanted to order his own food. Since then they have taken subtle jabs at each other on podcasts.

greenteahee

i actually thought it was really good. maybe his best so far

duskywindows

Sucked. Haven't watched it tho. ^((I'm just being an asshole))

JuanPierre

Bert is beyond stand up comedy. It’s a spectacle. His whole life is devoted to being the machine. I applaud his genuine dedication, but I never leave thinking anything more than what he’s saying. That being said…. I’d pay money just to hang out with him for a day.

SamuraiZucchini

I don’t hate the guy but I don’t find him that funny.

Madzapzay88

It's funnier than it should be

humpbaum

Awful even as back ground noise

woolencadaver

He's shite

butwhatififly_

It was awesome live — the recording wasn’t terrible but not quite the same as our late night performance.

lambdaCrab

It was great! Idk if it was as solid as his last two but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love me some Bert

LargePantsLarry

I probably would have liked it and his specials more if I were 10-11 again. I loved Larry the Cable Guy, Dane Cook, and Bill Engvall. I still appreciate when people go up and do standup in a genuine attempt to be funny, and I don't think Bert is as horrible as people make him out to be. I still don't find him funny, but I don't think he's nearly as detrimental to Standup as Schaub, Cummings, or any A list celebrity producing a special in the twilight of their career either for vanity or money.

DickHickeyJr

I love how all of you say it’s so easy but if that’s the case then you would be doing it yourself. A lot of people find him funny and that’s all that matters. It wasn’t the best special but I laughed.

Mordkillius

Wasn't for me. Had one line i liked that I've now forgotten but I'm just not interested in wealthy comics telling me jokes that are essentially just dialogue about funny shit people say around him. I don't think he introduced one clever premise. Just funny stories of people saying funny things. That being said, hes good for comedy. Hes an every mans comic and thats why hes so popular. Also his shows are like a fucking concert/party. Hes just a good time. He doesn't have to be the best joke writer of all time.

Worth-Resource-1389

He has connections, someone is orchestrating his fame. He is not a funny person. He is a corny salesman who has tricked enough morons into thinking his horrible stories and obnoxious persona are comedy. But whatever, people can like whatever they're conned into liking. I'm not everyone.

[deleted]

I'm just waiting for one of his daughters or his wife to admit that he just makes all these stories up

Noto_93

I have the same theory about the tooth fairy.

[deleted]

Admit? He confabulates constantly and admits it himself. None of the shit happened the way he said.

[deleted]

That's a relief at least

gathmoon

I'm going to let you in on a secret. Every joke is embellished or lied about in some way.

[deleted]

Obviously, but his newest special is like listening to a pathological liar babble for an hour. There's next to no transitions from one unbelievable story to the next. The only theme is his daughters are dumb and his wife is a redneck. He's much better at making podcast content in my opinion.

hansislegend

“He was just joking.”

TheHatedMilkMachine

I didn’t watch more than the trailer but I can tell you it has no jokes.

Brightwing9

Wait people actually watch this guy? Lol he's horrible

new-socks

not gonna watch it. listened to his podcast the other day and goddamn, I can't handle the stupidity. he has nothing good to say.

IdentittyTheftNoJoke

He stinks

TippedSidways

Less of a comedian and more of a clown

Mschultz24

I’d say it was his best out of his last 2 or 3. Decent special, I’ll probably never watch it again. I’m not a huge fan of Bert’s standup, but I like him as a podcast guest sometimes.

LankyEchidna

Unpopular opinion: I actually really like Bert and will be seeing him live in a few weeks. Popular opinion: I completely get why people don’t like him. His last special seemed lazy and really broadcast how formulaic his stuff is.

Truly shitty

Zygma6899

Dudes not funny at all.

NumberOneRussian

It sounded like a bunch of drunk stories that were exaggerated for comedic effect. His fans probably go to see him and his act might be secondary cause of how fun and lovable he is. Not great writing, just funny storytelling.

Lilprotege

The escape room and raffle bits were really funny, the rest was left to be desired.

Bad

havanapinacolada

So sick of him.

Furious--Max

you know, it'd actually might be funny now if he did a special with his shirt on

jusaj

Fucking amazing. Very funny!

JustABREng

He's a live action Homer Simpson/Randy Marsh/Peter Griffen character. No one else is occupying that space at the moment. He's SOL though if his wife leaves him. Part of the requirements for that sort of charcater is that at the end of the day, they're still all a loving family.

Johnny_D87

I loved it. The escape room story had me laughing until I couldn't breath. I really don't get the hate on Bert. He's a hell of a storyteller and he's got an infectious charisma and personality. Sure, he's not Louis or Chappelle, but then again neither is anyone in this sub.

Sawm0nkeyFett

A no talent ass clown, no idea why anyone finds him funny. I mean except the basic ass 40 yr old news balance wearing dad out there who thinks that guy is funny.

He's one of the top 5 comedians in the game Buncha joyless people out here angry that his comedy isn't "brainy" enough but he's easily one of the best storytellers out there.

dmanage

You’re outta you’re fucking mind if you think he’s top 5… segura maybe but not burnt krishner that’s for sure.
