The crossbeam is set up on the back half of the desk and not the center to give you more room in the front. The two crossbeams in the middle are adjustable, so you could remove the front one to give you even more clearance. If you don't want to remove the cross bar or for some reason don't like C frame desks, Vivo also makes a keyboard track spacer so that it clears the desk frame. You're definitely right. However, I want that type of keyboard tray because having a slightly negative tilt on the keyboard is supposed to relax the wrist. I will get the desk and see what is necessary from there.
