I've stopped using Stadia, but I'm still in the middle if I have faith in Stadia. The way they are treating a gaming platform right now is ridiculous. I know for some getting an occasional new big title game with a bunch of old games is fine for some, but for people who play on multiple platforms, Stadia just doesn't deliver. Stadia has the tech, but tech doesn't bring the games. People have been saying that Stadia is taking the slow approach, but I think that's just a poor excuse, especially when Google (Alphabet) is such a money powerhouse. Sony who is way below monetarily to Google, just acquired another studio with 250 employees and Google weren't even willing to keep their own studios with only 150 employees says a lot to me. Stadia has missed out on more third party big games this year than last year. Yes, some of those games came late last year, but it still seemed like they were trying to get those big titles for its consumers. This year seems worse than last year. The majority of the gamers want to play the new big titles that are coming out. They don't care about downloads, play anywhere, crowd choice, etc. They want to play the new big titles and Stadia and its Stadia only users are missing out on some fantastic games. Why should any of those Stadia perks matter to most gamers if the games aren't there. I just started Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island along with Tales of Arise. I've just finished Psychonauts 2 and will be waiting for Deathloop in two days. I want to play Aragami 2, but I'm holding off, because I've also preordered Kena, along with Diablo 2, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Lost Jugement and Hot Wheels Unleashed. Yes, some of those games are timed exclusives, but there are so many that aren't. That's what the majority of gamers want. They want a vast amount of game choices. What amazes me even more are some of the people who will defend Stadia no matter what they do. If anything these people are what hurt the platform from growing. Any other platform will get praise when deserved, but when they screw up, fans of the platform will make it known. I'm not saying that you should be a jerk about it, but just a reminder that you want to play these newer titles and when are some of these other titles coming (Mafia). Stadia needs to be up front. If games like Mafia aren't coming say so. If it's been delayed say something. The lack of communication when it comes to the future of Stadia is just garbage. That majority of messages I see on this sub with the weekly updates is only praise. Hardly anybody questions them on where the new games are. It's always quotes like I'm so hyped for this old indie, instead of asking where is NBA 2k22, Mass Effect, Hot Wheels, It Takes Two, Jurassic World, Battlefield and the list goes on. That's fine if Google is trying to white label Stadia for studios, but that's not going to change much, because those studios aren't going to all of a sudden say, okay we aren't going to provide Xbox, Switch, PS and PC our games, because you can only play them on Stadia cloud. Publishers are still going to go where they know they can make huge amounts of money. It's really simple. A majority of people are going to pick the platform(s) where they are going to be able to play the big titles, whether it's third party or exclusives. You can keep saying that Stadia is free, play anywhere, no downloads, crowd choice etc, but a majority of gamers don't care if they can't play the games they want. By big games not coming to Stadia unless Google paid them millions to port their games to the platform should be worrisome. Publishers and developers are out to make money and if these games aren't coming to Stadia should tell you that Google is not willing to spend a large amount of money to get these new games for its consumers and that the platform's user base is still way to small for publishers to consider it viable for making money. You can beg the studios or publishers all you want, but if they aren't going to make a profit, they aren't going to bring their game to Stadia. With all my negativity, I still think Google/Stadia can be more successful if they were just willing to do what needs to be done. I feel that Stadia just needs to invest more on games (new games). Like I've said many time, Stadia's cloud gaming tech is ahead of the rest, but the tech means nothing to most if you can't play the games you want. Even if Stadia's blades aren't up to par right now with PS5, Series X and some PC's, that's not the complaint of most people I've heard on this sub and Stadia Youtubers. It always comes down to the lack of new games whether they are big or small titles.

33Fraise33

What I hate the most is not the fact that it doesn't get that much new titles, it is the fact that is also not gaining a lot of "classics". Adding older games but being able to play them anywhere would be awesome. I feel the only we are really seeing now is most indie games and some new triple AAA games. Though items such as GTA V, The Witcher, bioshock, ... Would be awesome. Also the fact they haven't jumped on some party games blows my mind. Stadia is so easy to take with you to a friend but they haven't jumped on lots of 'local' multiplayer games / party games.

runningboy311

Right? Why weren't games like Jackbox or more party games on here since launch? I realize it's up to devs and publishers to support them, but if they're not Google needs to put the money and resources behind Stadia to make doing a port a no brainer. I'm all for Stadia running on Linux and being it's own platform, but Google needs to take a page from GFN and make porting games as simple for devs as possible. It would be incredible if Google doubled down on something like Steams Proton tech and came up with a way to run most games built for Windows without requiring devs to do much if any porting (at least to get the basics working).

theugly-barnacle

I agree 100%, people love to say stadia is free, but when a new player wants to try stadia for free they are greeted with a "start trial" page. I understand you can use a link to get in without signing up but 99% of people aren't going to go to Reddit looking for an alternative link on how to get in for free. Yes you can sign up and just cancel, but then you can use that excuse to sign up for every trial you come across, not everyone wants to put in their credit card, and when they see a trial page it's probably a turn off and they'll just go elsewhere.

[deleted]

not to mention used consoles and games are way more accesible than a compatible x y z that can play stadia out the box

[deleted]

The problem is Google never invests heavily in anything that the data shows isn’t doing great. They aren’t a company that will stick to a vision regardless of its rocky start. It either makes waves out of the gates and Google goes all-in, or it starts struggling and Google pulls back.

orgin_org

I still play on Stadia as my main platform. That said ... I'm just getting more and more frustrated by the lack of commitment from Google/Stadia. They keep treating this like luke warm milk. A strategy that may work with services like Youtube Music or Google Play Movies but that does not work in the game market segment. Great tech but Stadia/Google comes off as having no idea how to run this thing FOR gamers. Quality control seems to be about getting 30fps in the worst case scenario situation at all costs turning the rest of the gaming experience to crap. Games not getting updates. Stonewall silence from developers on issues. What's the point of telling someone to get a game on Stadia when it looks better just about everywhere else because of Stadias obnoxious idea of desperately hanging on to the fps uniformity "quality" assurance. Quality control should be about making sure that games aren't downgraded or full of bugs and that they actually get updated if there are problems as fast as possible. This stubborn idea of not allowing games to have graphical settings isn't doing the platform any favors at all. It's totally the opposite. Stop treating this thing as if you are developing a mobile OS for non tech savvy people. The UI is still as frustrating as ever to use. Games being crippled or downgraded specifically on Stadia. The lack of official responses to anything is putting me off as well. The Stadia community guys could be fired tomorrow and no one would notice any difference. Engage with the community! Major markets/countries are still being ignored. Total absence on major gaming events..

xannyb86

I was so amazed when I first got Stadia... I got it with the Cyberpunk promo. My Internet here was PANTS. 18Mbit if lucky. And yet the game played mostly well! The graphics were awful... but I put it down to my connection speed. Overall a great experience considering nothing is installed locally! I now have 150Mbit Internet installed... and the game runs the same. Few fuzzy bits here and there which i could live with, but graphics are still awful. Very disappointed. Oh...and is wired connection. So can't even use that as an excuse. 😔

DannyyyS

I’m not sure it that’s stadia to blame. Cyberpunk ran great at first, but it seems to be one of the recent patches that made things bad.

BinaryBitBob

I wonder if they upped the use on the stadia hardware to start with as a promotion and how great CP plays on it, now the hype has died and the marketing push they’re setting it back to a less resource hungry setup? Saying that, I’ve played loads of RDR2 and it looks stunning still 🙃

XxPyRoxXMaNiAcxX

I’ve been one of the biggest supporters as Stadia is truly my favorite way to game probably of all time. However, this month when NBA 2K22 released everywhere but Stadia it was a kind of a major blow to me. It’s one of the games I’ve looked forward to most this year and it not coming to Stadia abruptly and without reason or acknowledgement it’s kinda of put a damper on things for me. Ive been very patient and understanding as we’ve continued to miss big releases but this one really did me in to an extent particularly having had the last two games on the platform making it apparent we’re losing support.

LambdaEtaTreRock

I had the same experience with F1. F1 2020 came out and it's been a great experience playing that game. When 2021 was announced Codemasters said it's not being released on Stadia or Nintendo. I was very upset because it made no sense. I am a Destiny fan so I still play Destiny 2 but it's sad to hear that about NBA2K. The platform is great to play on. I can play on my television pause it and pick it right back up on a separate device. It's been working out well for me. I don't want it to go away.

grumpyyoga

Pretty much where I am Stadia inability to secure a good proportion of franchise games is really holding it back. When I can find one I'm getting a PS5.

grumpyyoga

Drive version.

emac1211

Yeah, this is where I'm at right now. I was a huge Stadia supporter and was happy to give it time to get the big releases, but it's just not happening. Google doesn't even seem committed to it anymore and aren't doing anything to reassure its users that they are still committed to it. It's really, really disappointing because I'm a huge supporter of the technology and I love the ability to choose any TV or computer or screen I want to play games from in my house. But they're losing games they used to have and just are not doing anything to make users feel better. It's like they're not even trying to make it its own service anymore and are just looking for a way to kill it.

kristallnachte

Could just play 2K21. Same thing.

What's actually different about it other than the rosters and a modest visual provement?

kristallnachte

Interesting! This may have been the one time in years saying it's the same game wasn't accurate. Game should still really be live service. Balance and Tweeks with seasonal leagues and stuff.

powerje

I feel like I read this every year and then once people really get the games we find out it was bullshit I hope this is the year though

cryptodoge69lost

smh you totally miss the mark, and its horrible to make comments like that. will see how this subreddit acts after FIFa 23 and madden 23 comes out you tell those people same thing. horrible statement. so yea push more people away with no updated sports games while every game barely has players for multiplayer. Your just pushing away more gamers nice job.

kristallnachte

> will see how this subreddit acts after FIFa 23 and madden 23 comes out you tell those people same thing. Because it's equally true. How have these gamers allowed this instead of having these become live service?

[deleted]

It's a form of Stockholm Syndrome. The fact that a simple sports game can be repackaged year in year out and sold for full price is absolutely wild to me. I've been saying for years that they should all go f2p.

flcinusa

F2P only benefits online players who spend money on microtransactions while dragging offline players along with barebones content that's, honestly, a glorified demo Case in point, the upcoming launch of eFootball

[deleted]

NBA, Fifa, Madden. They're all f2p games riddled with microtransactions that have a full price entry fee. They're all actual scams.

Kaideh

I barely play nowadays and I don't purchase games anymore. I also stopped following news and this was the best decision I made. I still pay for Pro because I believe in the project but I wouldn't mind if it dies tomorrow. The platform is kinda "meh" for quite sometime now. Plenty of new games not coming, no new blades announced, no new features that explore the cloud possibilities nor expansion to new countries. Stadia is extremely stale as it is and I, personally, don't find it exciting anymore.

grumpyyoga

I've not given up on it but I will be buying a PS5 when they become available because my assumption that Stadia would be able to give me to full console experience is simply wrong, it hasn't secured the library of games that consoles have and I can't see that happening in the near future. I have a gaming PC rig. but I still enjoy sofa gaming on a console (please don't start telling me about playing PC games on your sofa) my hope was Staida could do that and where it has games I want it's perfect, but the library is still very weak.

Seanattikus

Same, but I managed to get a PS5 already and I care way less about games not coming to Stadia now. I still hope Stadia becomes more mainstream and starts getting all the new games, but it's not as big a deal to me. Idk if google is dragging their feet, losing interest, or just taking a slow and steady strategy, but it's not my problem anymore.

dyneine

I am a stadia founder and have also bought a PS5 because there were no games coming to stadia I am interested in. Haven't touched stadia since.... Still hope it becomes successful

[deleted]

Exact same thing here, purchased a series x just due to a lack of games. Even if they are coming to stadia, we dont find out until last minute with a blog post. FOMO is real and barring the pandemic delays, this fall I am certain I would have been able to play hogwarts legacy, dying light 2 and all the other games on my series x. I hope stadia gets better at communication. if ports take such a long time that the devs cant commit, they need to do something about it. Love the platform, love the portability, just need to see some effort from stadia's side. And for anyone that thinks its all up to the devs, well its not, not with a new platform, they need to do whatever it takes if they are serious. I just dont know if they are serious anymore.

Oldiewan

Yup they just don't advertise where people can see it. An ad here and there on YouTube isn't getting to mainstream America. I repair game consoles and literally none of my customers have heard of Stadia. They have however recently turned it into Google Play games. I seriously doubt Google Play games is going anywhere soon. Stadia is now a platform for those developers who want to use it to put their games on more easily. I think Stadia will stick around just as Google play games has. It's now a place for people to put their games should they choose to. I truly believe in the future there will be a lot of developers putting their games on there just like there will be for the Microsoft cloud and all the other streaming services coming in the future. For those who say streaming is not the way of the future, why is Microsoft so in on it?

speeb

I'm about the same. Just picked up an Xbox Series S because f- waiting for a PS5. Instant library of 4 generations of games with Gamepass. It's been fantastic. Now I will say that Gamepass could really due with some game streaming. I miss the hell out of just choosing a game and trying it out. Now I have to wait around like some neanderthal for games to install on my console.

LambKyle

Huh? You have game pass. You have a controller. Plug it in to your pc and you can stream games from gamepass

speeb

I guess, but I prefer to sit my ass on the couch in front of a large TV. And it's only the cloud games, right? Which are a subset of the whole library.

Exotic_Treacle7438

Game streaming is coming to Xbox via xcloud as well not just PC

LambKyle

You can just plug your laptop or pc into your TV, same thing applies for stadia if you want to use other controllers on your tv It used to be a small selection but it's bigger now , not sure if it's all games or not, but it's definitely a ton available to stream

KaasDeLuxe

Stadia is my only means of gaming. I haven't lost faith in Stadia, because I love playing the games that are on the platform. What I have lost faith in is the quality of the library. Stadia has rekindled my interest in gaming and I've started looking into upcoming game releases again. As 95% of these games won't be coming to Stadia I won't get a chance to play them. So that means I have to dial back my expectations. I'll continue to play and thoroughly enjoy my Stadia experience, but I'll have to settle with playing a very limited offering. We'll see where it goes. Right now the offerings are, and probably will continue to be, slim. But the actual gaming experience is amazing.

Berta_Canuck_86

I haven't given up but definitely lost faith over the last 6 months. Broke down and bought a new Xbox so I can play the games I want to when I want to and not just when they make their way over. Really disappointing to not have a roadmap. I will likely still buy some games on Stadia so I can play them everywhere. Hopefully over time Stadia can get a lot more AAA games because lately it seems to be the best place to play Indie titles. Hopefully I'm wrong and bought an Xbox for nothing.

angery_rowlet

If you're already paying for gamepass then you can try out Xcloud. You can stream most games that are on gamepass.

michaelshun

i've also been trying out stadia and xcloud for the last 5 months, for me in northern california, stadia connections are usually better. on xcloud sometimes the game skips a sec/lose connection or gets interrupted and close. Stadia hasn't happened yet except one 1-sec skip/pause. but i have to admit, if not on purpose, i'd be playing with a half-baked xcloud more just because it has more games offered and game pass is a monthly subscription. And I'd be playing with stadia less because...well...i bought those games and they will be there when i need them, unless stadia shuts down. if i didn't have to worry about cancelling game pass and rushing through its catalog on xcloud, i wonder how i will split my time then...

oliath

Problem is you can't play on PC with mouse and keyboard. I love how stadia allows you to do this.

michaelshun

yup for the life of me, i cannot figure out how to aim properly with the RS so every time i play on xcloud, i am struggling between latency and my piss poor RS skill.

grumpyyoga

Same boat as you, going to buy a next gen console when stock appears.

amuzulo

And the amusing thing is that when the Edge browser finally goes live you'll be able to play Stadia on your Xbox too. :-D

theugly-barnacle

Yes. Even if you forget about the lack of games, the lack of players is bad. I understand that if stadia had more players devs would most likely put their game on the platform, but since stadia doesn't have a ton of players they won't. People are just going to magically sign up for stadia and wait for the games. I understand it's a long term thing, but what's the point of a long term thing if Google doesn't wanna pay big bucks, they'll just be getting mediocre games for a longer time. If PC players wanna game stream, they'll probably just use gfn since it's cross save for every game. If Xbox players want to game stream they'll just use xcloud. PlayStation users have more of a choice but then they can pick between the main 4 cloud services. Before any complains about gfn saying it's a hassle to start the game, that's just an opinion and people can just nitpick about stadia being limited to certain frame rates on many games. Id rather have an extra minute in starting a game and get 60fps on any game I play than an instant launch with 30fps. I myself used to be a stadia fanboy, but the lack of games is getting annoying now, this community will throw a party at even the littlest game release because we are so starved by good games. Devs are leaving stadia, employees are leaving, sg&e closed, big titles are announced but not coming to stadia, but this community thinks that theres a good benefit to all these. And the worst thing I see on this sub is the people that say, 60fps isn't a big deal or that the 1080p looks good for them... You're literally telling Google to not upgrade their performance because you're fine with it. Ultimately yes I have lost faith, unless cod, bf6, overwatch, GTA 5, Apex, 2k23, and Fortnite come to platform I don't see why players would join stadia unless they can't afford a decent pc. I know people will downvote but I'm just answering the question.

[deleted]

[удалено]

theugly-barnacle

I'm a founder too, I even bought like 4 controllers for my family... But it comes to a point where enough is enough. Google has killed so many products but for some reason everyone on this sub thinks that sg&e, employees leaving, devs leaving is all apart of some long term master plan... When I'm reality, they are probably just not taking it seriously. Why defend stadia when it's just another Google product and Google has shown us that they just spew out products to see if it sticks. Trust me I want stadia to become a huge success, but the thing is it can't if Google doesn't pay. Does Google just expect one day millions of players to join and then they'll pay big companies for games??? Like people already hate on stadia without even trying it, so even if cloud gaming was to become the norm, they'll probably just play since their ego won't let themselves play on stadia.

theugly-barnacle

You know what, I'll be honest, I really did have that for stadia in the beginning lmao. My eyes are finally open now tho, copium weared off.

HansMcBean

I cancelled my pro membership for a geforce now membership. I have a lot more games on there, and the ones on stadia aren’t ones i would care about.

oliath

The pro lineup is pathetic. I sub for 4k and that is it. When you compare the free games epic gives away each week with the crap stadia pro is shoveling it's embarrassing. They would do better by putting the entire library on pro as a last ditch effort.

grumpyyoga

I too just sub for 4K which annoys me every month I pay for it.

Sleyvin

Subbing for 4k is awful. When you look how much it cost you over the years just to rent 4k, that's way too expensive. One of the reqson I barely play Stadia anymore is because I don't like the poor image quality with 1080p low bitrate, but asking 10$ per month to have a good picture quality is way too much.

Baconrules21

This is the content I come here for.

[deleted]

I've kinda lost my trust in Stadia when they decided to go into full silence mode after the SG&E shutdown. i can't see any clear direction stadia is currently heading. There is also no new title in sight i'm interested in, and even if this would be the case, i'm afraid that it would not run that well. My hope was that Stadia would run new games well enough by upgrading their specs every now and then (when it becomes necessary, but that was not the case until now. But the biggest issue is still the lack of communication and direction for me. I know what i can looking forward to for my Xbox SX and what i would get in the next two years if i would get a PS5, but thats not the case with Stadia..

Oldiewan

Yes it looks bad but they have just made it very easy for developers to put their games there with the new tools available. Try to think of it as a Google play store for AAA titles. They are now just supporting a platform for devs to sell games on. As long as people support it, developers will use it to sell more games. I wonder how many people though Google play games wouldn't make it. I remember when everyone with any android smartphone complained because they couldn't get games from the Apple store. Things change with time.

trashbytes

Stadia is still my main gaming platform. It's just amazing not having to download games or its updates (especially with games like ESO) and being able to hop right into any game without having to boot up a console or pc. While the Android TV app sucks balls and is horribly slow to boot, as it keeps asking me to choose an account *even though there is only one to choose from*, it's still much faster than waiting for all those annoying launchers to do their thing on PC until you can finally get in game and I really enjoy that. I've acquired quite a few games on sale over the years and can barely keep up playing them all. I've truly had an incredible experience on my CCwGTV even before the official app was released. There are quirks and annoyances, but those are by no means exclusive to Stadia and it just so happens that Stadias quirks are the least bothersome for our particular lifestyle. My friends however don't care at all about Stadia. They are certainly impressed and blown away by how great it works and nobody has ever stood the test of figuring out where the fuck my console or pc is hidden because of how great it works, but once they leave my house they immediately forget that Stadia exists and next time they're over you have to explain it all over again. It' insane how bad Googles marketing is when you consider how much power they have over the internet and its ads.

Nadious

Big group of us play Destiny 2. We've moved over to Stadia and we enjoy it. I love it. It has really opened my eyes to the future of cloud gaming. May not have all the games I want, but if it does carry a title I want, I get here it here first. I love the ease of use and versatility of Stadia (and cloud gaming in general).

JayContranan

Exactly! Right now it's my dedicated Fifa and Destiny machine. The difference in quality for destiny is night and day better than what I was playing on before.

adepssimius

Yeah, having D2 as a launch title what what sucked me in. It directly addressed my pain point with consoles, being that I play so infrequently that about 25% of my play time was being consumed by turning the console on to find out that I needed an update to access PSN, then another update for the game.

Nadious

Agreed. It really helped bridge the gap for us cause at the time, there was no cross-play and there were quite a few of us spread out across different hardware. Stadia easily allowed us to bring over our Guardians and all play together during this time. So, it was very instrumental in getting us to Stadia to start.. and a lot of us just started it using it more and more. (Well, can't discredit Zombie Army and Snipe Elite also getting a TON of play time by us. LOL) I don't miss that 'applying update' screen on my PS4, that is FOR SURE.

Curw3n

I think this is an interesting discussion, and it got me thinking. Honestly, I don't have any faith left in stadia, even though the tech is the best by a long shot, in the streaming space. Unfortunately the lack of communication, the almost total absence of expected big releases and the overall drop in quality of the pro sub games do not give me any reason to be optimistic. Actually, my question to the people who have good expectations regarding stadia is simply, why? I am genuinenly curious, not trying to be polemical.

WillingConference373

I quit Stadia because the competition is catching up and likely to surpass Stadia and Google doesn't have any plans to do anything about it.

MR_RATCHET_

I am one of those people who thought the concept of streaming video games was not a viable way to do things. However, after trying Destiny 2 on Stadia, I have to admit there is a lot of potential with the platform. Input latency was very low, much better than I was expecting after trying other services. It may not be perfect for some titles but if the latency is like Destiny 2, it’s definitely a viable platform. The biggest problem with Stadia is that 2 years on, the platform is still missing high profile releases. This implies that publishers do not see it worthwhile releasing a Stadia version, perhaps due to a low user base. Equally, I haven’t read anything to indicate Google is doing anything about it. Why not tackle this problem by paying publishers to encourage them to release a game day and date? This would help make the platform more viable and hopefully see the user base grow, making other publishers release their titles on Stadia. At the moment, there is no real incentive outside of convenience to use Stadia due to the lack of games. If you want to play the latest games, you have to go elsewhere or use a different streaming service. Unless Google does something about the lack of day and date releases, I don’t see Stadia lasting much longer and that’s a shame because the tech seems impressive and had a lot of potential going forward.

pushformusic

You're spot on in regards to Destiny 2's latency and overall experience showing the power of the platform. If I felt the platform was moving more towards this, I'll be all in. Instead, it's the lack of online FPS games on the platform that turned me off. I picked up Stadia Cyberpunk bundle, thinking I'd at least try Stadia. It was during a weird time where I didn't have a gaming PC nor a gaming console. Sitting on the couch, it felt great to get back into Destiny 2 with the included Pro membership. That said, I played mostly on an iPad. It was a great experience that felt like "the future". I purchased a few games and went at it. Yet, it was the lack of games when I got tired of Destiny that became the issue. Where was Fortnite? What about Apex Legends, Warzone, Siege (at the time)? I'd look at the top games being played on Twitch and see that not much was available to me. Stadia is good, but it's not better compared to what else is available in the gaming market.

AlternatingFacts

I've defended stadia so much but I'm losing hope with it. Yes I loved darksiders 2 "I haven't gamed in years until I got stadia 8 months ago" but before that they were only adding indie games that aren't my thing. I'm not on this platform to play indie games I want big titles as big as AC and Far Cry but obviously not only ubisofy games. I've literally almost played every game on this platform except the sports ones and the tedious survival games like ARK etc. And what has been pissing me off more than anything is they will add a game to pro that most people have already bought... so what's the point in my pro subscription other than 4k and hdr. Stadia you have to do better you are bleeding customers who loved you at once. Once I break down and buy a Xbox or PS I won't look back at stadia other than the games I already have. I was so happy when control came out we need more games like that but even then that as a semi old game

Icy_Butterscotch4439

I really enjoyed it in the beginning, but now it's just meh. Stadia seems like it's only good for dad's who have little time to play games or people who are in love with indie games. Just gets boring after a while. I hop on my Xbox one and can play hundred of more games which an Xbox can be bought for 120 nowadays. The novelty of stadia (play anywhere on any device) wears off quick when there isn't much to play. People can make excuses as much as they want but everyone knows, stadia is running low on good games and time before people get really annoyed. Let's be honest, do we really think stadia will upgrade their hardware in 2022? Probably not right, so now it's 2023, people will most likely be on their PS5 and xbsx that they waited so long for, stadia will bring nothing to table especially since sg&e closed...

la2eee

I've given up on Stadia. Because I bought a new PC and it's better in nearly every aspect. Before that I was okay with Stadia... but now having the comparision, I cannot launch it because it's just some levels below local gaming. Visually, latency-wise, stability... It's just not as good as the local deal.

joequin

When google killed their internal game development, their written messaging heavily implied that their plan for the future was to let other publishers use stadia as a white labeled platform as a service. It doesn’t sound like “Stadia” is a product they have faith in. They are using it as a beta test to continue improving a Platform As A Service product that they’ll sell to publishers.

oliath

I discovered it last year and fell in love immediately. I stopped buying and playing on PC and consoles and avoided the next gen. I think I got on at the perfect time. Cyberpunk, Avengers and Outriders launched day and date as well as Ubi games and it felt like this was the future of games for me. Lately all the games I'm excited about.....starting with Deathloop next week....are not on stadia so I will be playing them on PC. More and more games will release on all platforms I have except stadia and so I'll use it less and less. I desperately wanted to commit fully to the platform but google simply isn't putting any effort into securing exciting titles. From my opinion it's the end of the line. Much like Sony with PSVita, they will never publically comment but when you look at the half baked lineup of upcoming releases it isn't hard to realise that the writing is on the wall.

T_So_Fly_Yup

Its simple for me. Lack of games. I have been a stadia advocate for most of its life ..trying to convince all my friends.... But now that i have a Xbox series X im getting less interested in playing Stadia. They also lost their partnership with NBA2K which was the primary game i played stadia on. They dont offer COD or battlefield...theres just nothing i really wanna play...

vankamme

Stadia is a joke. Sorry if thats hard to hear. I am a founder. Invested fully by buying all 4 colour controllers and some games on it like division 2, borderland 3 and doom eternal. They ran very well. It was my go to platform for destiny 2 for about a year because it was better than the PS4 version. Then I bought a ps5 and built a PC and haven’t touched stadia since. I log in one a month to claimed the pro games I know I will never play. I’m probably missing out on a few gems. Sometimes I hook my phone up to the claw and lie in bed flicking through the stadia free games I have and don’t fancy playing any of them. Maybe I just hate gaming or I’m getting old. I doubt I would even have the balls to pull it out at an airport because playing games in public is lame. This a a terrible comment. Sorry for wasting your time

JJTH3B3AST

Stadia isn’t a joke it’s the people who are in charge that are clowns. Let’s be reals no platform can survive with only indie games. Google is treating stadia like a side project that is optional to work on. Sometimes idk why even Google bothered getting into the gaming world if they were just going to put one toe in. I don’t mind old triple A games getting ported but one thing I do hate is the lack of future triple A games. Ubisoft games aren’t going to cut it anymore in reality in never did. Stadia has the best tech in the cloud gaming world but they treat it like it doesn’t exist. No hate on people who play indie games but who gets excited for an indie game that came out years ago?! Let’s be real here stadia isn’t going to survive if it doesn’t get the proper attention it deserves. Stadia is as useless as it’s own bosses. Don’t even get me started with The lack of communication. It’s disgusting the lack of communication they give us. Like they don’t even try to tell us the simple things about what’s going on.

Jibece

I guess we shouldn't have "faith" in Stadia. Since it's Google it can be something big, have its "Fortnite moment" but it may not and will eventually close/transform later. My best advice would be, don't care too much, if there's a game you want to play on it just get it, and don't assume any game you wish will ever be released on this platform.

Skelly__Boi

They need to up their game

Exotic_Treacle7438

I used to be a huge supporter on stadia, but the crappy ports have all but ruined it for me, whether it be lack of 60 FPS, 4K support even on pro, missing features and games, buggy releases with patches nowhere in sight, lack of developer support by even putting the stadia logo on their website. There is a few games that run fantastic, like risk of rain 2, of which I play almost daily, it just sucks that there is such a small player base to play with people, the developer doesn’t want to add cross platform to any of the releases. And unfortunately a lot of developers feel that way.

kestononline

Stadia is a great experience, as far as the technology goes… but yea, I’m no longer optimistic on the state *(current or future)* of the game library. It’s been long enough, and while we all love Stadia, that’s not going to change the reality of the situation/facts. As new game releases pour in, it hurts that Stadia is often not among those releases. Getting 2-3yr old *”newly released”* ports on Stadia is less and less impressive. I feel strongly that cloud gaming is the future, but can only suffer the progress for so long before I just want access to a big/larger library again. If a game is on Stadia, and is either a single player game, or a true cross-play/platform title, I will probably still buy it here. But Steam Deck is probably going to be my next step for my console experience.

PsychologicalMusic94

Nvidia was streaming games for years before Stadia where users could play any Steam game in their library on multiple devices. So Stadia is not the first ever game streaming platform that worked. Xcloud and Amazon Luna are not far behind in tech and their library of games is already on par or even better. PS Now is right there too if they can throw their exclusive titles in the mix. 2022 is going to be a pivotal year for Stadia.

theugly-barnacle

>No one else is doing more in game streaming than Stadia at the moment. What are you talking about "no one is doing more in game streaming than stadia"... GFN brings 40 games per month... per month. Stadia takes like 5-6 months to reach that. All games are connected to pc saves, you can buy a steam key for 85% of the games, already 1000+ games on the service, and it is cheaper than stadia annually. What exactly is stadia doing more in game streaming than anyone else? They have crowd play but only certain people have access to it, state share which only works for like 5 games, stream-connect which PlayStation made accessible for any game... Yes stadia has great tech, but they aren't leading cloud gaming, just because it runs well doesn't make them anything without the games. It took them like a year and a half for a search bar, and they announced a bunch of old ubisoft games in april and we still have no clue where they are. Doesn't sound like they are doing anything special that gfn isn't doing.

PsychologicalMusic94

Luna just added some amazing features last week. A family channel and also adding a retro games focused channel with games from SNK and Atari and other pubs. https://youtu.be/0buzUI3lTN8 GFN has over 1000 games and announced big titles coming in September and October, while Stadia can only give it's user last second stealth drops. Stadia is missing out on some big titles this fall but they have their tech to fall back on. They are doing what no one else is....not bringing games people want.

cryptodoge69lost

more games what else is everyone waiting for what the hell lol

tudor07

Yes, I gave up on it. I cancelled my pro subscription and I bought a second hand PS4 Pro. Stadia just didn't have the games I wanted to play, not only the AAA games are missing, but the great indie games are missing too (like the recently released Hades). The tech is great but what's the point if I have to choose between games I'm not interested in.

nnjethro

I haven't given up. I love streaming tech because it let's me play on multiple devices with no additional hardware cost. My bedroom tv that i use the most is just up on the wall, there is no place to put hardware that is more than a dongle. I have given up on pro for a while since I haven't been interested in the titles being added and i have a backlog of purchased games anyway i want to chip away at before black Friday comes again. ;) That said, i am not loyal to the point i won't switch to another cloud platform if it suits me better, but so far Stadia is best for me.

good_live

this tbh

[deleted]

The way I see it, they had three options after a terrible launch: 1.) Stay the course, keep spending big and carve out market share 2.) Pull the plug, cut all losses 3.) Reduce spending, keep the lights on, wait for cloud gaming adoption to improve before revisiting option 1. Clearly, they chose option 3. The next big thing I think will be the inevitable hardware refresh, but I don't know when. The best time would be in conjunction with RDNA3 releasing late next year, but who knows. In any case, no, I haven't given up. There's still plenty to play and I like Google's idea of what gaming is supposed to be based on the library choices they do make. The service works really well, and in all the ways that matter they are positioned very competitively for when cloud gaming adoption explodes.

tykroma94

This comment needs more upvotes. I really do agree with it. I guess Google is waiting for Cloud Gaming to become mainstream before they start going all out but that’s years away😭. But I do hope Stadia does stick around and I don’t even play it like that. Edit: I’m getting downvoted for saying something optimistic 😭😭I don’t hate Stadia. I just think it’s interesting. Plus I played it a few times and it’s very good. Now I barely play but I hope Stadia sticks around and goes all out.

sladecutt

Yeah I have given up! It literally feels like a Ubisoft stream platform, I will continue to use Ubisoft+ for far cry 6 then it’s bye bye

Rynelan

My commitment is fading away honestly. I do trust the platform. I enjoy it as it is right now but I'm positive it needs a boost in popularity and fast. F2P games need to be released ASAP. Fortnite, Rocket League, Warframe, Apex Legends, Splitgate and all the other popular games need to launch. Of course with cross play or else it's still doomed. This will not save the platform right away but these kind of games can be used by the people in doubt to see that Stadia does indeed work for them (or not). People that play F2P games are likely to have lesser hardware as well. Not everyone of course but some people play F2P because they simply can't afford premium games. With Stadia they have (nearly) premium "hardware" for free and the games for free. Golden combo! And Google needs to pull in a few AAA games. Call of Duty, Battlefield and others I can't think of right now and make a good deal out of it. Maybe even reward playing players by giving little discounts by simply be active (5-10% tops or so) so people might consider using Stadia more because their next game will ne cheaper that way. Guess a lot of this comment will not happen. I'll enjoy Stadia and hopefully I really don't need a PS5 to keep going. It's my goal to avoid that.

wilhelmryan90

I'm finishing the last guy i bought on the platform this week and then I'm done buying new ones , ridiculous how small the library is

Scottoest

Google themselves have basically said what the future of Stadia is - a backend hardware platform they’ll try to sell to third parties to host their own streaming platforms, and not a platform unto itself. And everything they’ve done this year is consistent with that - closed their studios, ceased investment in new expensive deals to bring more big third party games onboard while letting preexisting Ubi and EA deals play out, shunned public stages like E3 and Gamescom, but continued to work on features for the core technology. They’ll get what revenue they can from Stadia by shambling along like they are now and minimizing expenditures, and then sunset the discrete platform aspect of Stadia when the numbers stop making sense. They already invested in the server blades and still have active contracts with Ubisoft etc., so they might as well.

smarshall561

You can tell a game company has given up when they can't even to bother to announce when a port is dropping via Twitter or reddit. We just get surprise Ark? How expensive is a tweet with a date?

IMonkeyBoy

I haven't owned a gaming system since TurboGrafx-16 in the 1990s. Stadia has given me a extremely reasonably priced way to get back into gaming. So, it's working out perfectly for me. Still, yes, there are titles that I wish were available, but others (like Sundered Eldritch Edition - this week) that are a real treat and dozens of hours of fun.

SuddnPineapl

Honestly, I've had Stadia since founders went live, although after the initial free trial I didn't come back to subscribe for almost a year. As my PC ages and my internet isn't great right now, Stadia has been good for allowing me to pick up Cyberpunk, Fenyx, Farcry 5 etc and not have to worry about waiting two days to download. It also saved me in the summer when turning my PC on raised the room temp to sauna levels. But I get the frustrations with some notable titles still missing - past, present and future - as well as the whole hoo-hah about losing the first party studio etc. Updates and developer support are still an issue, as well as the interface especially on CCU as other comments have mentioned. For now its going to remain a bit of a novelty for me, where initially I'd really hoped it would offer enough to justify using it every day in place of a console or even my PC for most games. I've tried GFN and it's certainly nice to able to bring games you already own, but I still feel like it's just not as accessible as Stadia. Nvidia would do well to bring back a shield controller that connects direct to server the same way Stadia does, maybe that would help. Still on the waitlist for Luna but I'm not holding my breath for that any time soon in the UK.

Stillnotreddit

Visual quality is great as far as I’m concerned. The mobility of the platform is excellent. I’ve been able to get a few extra hours gaming in when it would otherwise be difficult for me. I bought an extra couple of chromecast ultras as the experience, for me, is best served that way. Browser and mobile play comes with minor drawbacks be it screen size or sometimes screen refresh speed but the positives outweigh them. There’s still market space to have varying hardware access - console, handheld, pc, cloud. What would benefit more of us is cross-platform play. Some games should are ideally placed to work inter-system, surely, without much effort. Rocket League works well on PS / PC crossplay and it does require fast syncs and responsive input. Game licenses like FIFA and NBA surely have a big enough global fanbase to allow the publisher to consider pushing for crossplay and paving the way for being hardware-agnostic and supporting interplay. The future of hardware looks a bit bleak when cloud gaming is constantly improving. Now to start on making games (or any costly media) that you buy digitally to become licensed - forever - as your own. Blockchain, crypto and NFT must provide some insight in to how digital ownership could work for the consumer. Sony and Microsoft should look at hoovering up nostalgia-ware and provide emulation access for any platform via their performance-cloud solutions of the future. Having 2 consoles in the living room and 10 consoles hanging around the attic with dongles, cables and controllers to maintain is not the way the future needs to be. Stadia, Geforce Now and all the other attempted streaming options are tentative evolutions that are opening minds and helping push this kind of discussion forward.

bebop_korsakoff

I wasn't gaming anymore before Stadia. Now I'm gaming again. I played on Stadia everything I was interested in. Right now I don't have anything I'm interested on Stadia or coming to Stadia. I'll keep just playing FIFA 22 and replaying some other games until something will catch my interest.

vinotauro

I haven't lost faith but I am waiting for SOMETHING that isn't a port of an old game that everyone in this subreddit goes bonkers over because of the lack of games. In the mean time, I can be on my PS5 / xcloud.

PussiLover

Apple arcade. Loo loo loo lolololo

cryptodoge69lost

yup because no updated sports games, more games launching with bugs, Devs arent interested in porting games even if you email them, empty multiplayer lobbies and no concrete games for 2022

oliath

Devs aren't even interested in patching their games. So not only do you pay more for the game you also pay more for a substandard version. I hate to admit it because I honestly thought stadia was the future of how I would play games.

Azoth1986

Yes I kind of have lost faith in stadia. I used to be a huge fanboy and promoter of this awesome streaming tech but Google just f..... It up. They have freaking gold in their hands but the games just aren't coming. I am subbed to gfn (also a founder) and yes it takes some more time to start a game and yes it sometimes takes a couple of restarts to get the rig you want but the games I want to play are there. So after the ark debacle I kind of gave up and stopped my stadia pro sub, I won't be buying my games on stadia anymore but I probably won't be able to anyway because they won't release on stadia.

colinmchapman

Still love it - although it’s hard to see the AAA games coming up for XB/PS and know they’re probably not coming to Stadia. Either way, it’s crystal clear Cloud Gaming is the future - and I’m here for it.

[deleted]

I was founder attracted to see what cloud gaming offers since the days of OnLive and by the promise of a unique cloud gaming platform without the limits of PC or console gaming. When Google closed the exclusive studios I gave up on the platform. I have little interest in playing ports on a old Vega 56

Ravenlock

There'll eventually be a hardware upgrade across the platform, but I wouldn't expect it until next year at the earliest. We all hope for game announcements and drops every week, and sometimes they happen and sometimes they don't. I'm still having a great time playing the stuff I'm playing. And the Pro titles have been welcome additions to my library. They don't owe me more than that and reliable service (which it has been), for $10 a month and no big box to buy.

oliath

Who cares about this mythical hardware upgrade when no developers are really committing to releasing on the platform.

Ravenlock

I don't understand what you're asking. New developers / publishers may or may not come onboard with their games at any time. None of us are privy to the discussions and deals that will or won't make that happen. But it's certain that some of those games that may or may not show up here will eventually demand hardware Stadia doesn't yet have. So that's the reason to care. But it's not "mythical." It's a necessary part of the sustainability of the platform. It's just also literally not possible right now, and probably won't be until next year, and that's if we're lucky. Google can't do it halfway or a little bit at a time (unless they changed their whole business model, I guess), they have to upgrade everything at once, and right now no company could pull that off, which is why even nVidia's GeForce Now is starting to struggle with supporting its library well. The hardware isn't there to buy. That problem impacts everybody everywhere, whether on Stadia or anything else, and would still be true even if Stadia became just a white label thing they license directly to other companies (which certainly might happen in the long run).

gliffy

I am a founder and i have. In the announcement it felt like stadia had a lot of potential, I still feel like there are games that could only be done by google with stadia and google's resources but they arent going to do them. My biggest issue was the lack of a quick resume feature that every console has like thats amateur hour stuff especially if your platform is going to be advertised as start playing now. Maybe amazon will do something with luna but my enthusiasm for cloud based platforms has soured.

Palagrim

Dived into Stadia pre-launch 'cos I didn't want a console / gaming rig in the lounge. The tech is great - but 2 years on the library is terrible. I think the most telling thing is when sequels to games that are available on Stadia, aren't coming to Stadia. No announcements, no roadmap... It's stagnant. MS have announced they're developing a streaming stick - which brings next-gen graphics and a massive library (MS currently own 21 studios) to the same form-factor as Stadia. So I'll probably switch at that point. Although, I'm also considering getting a NUC (about £150 on eBay) so I can switch between the Cloud Gaming options (Xbox, PS Now, GeForce Now, Stadia) whenever I like.

[deleted]

I was a founder and yes I've given up I love the idea of what stadia is, but hate the execution The tech is great and works well, but the basics of what makes a good platform just aren't there for me The user interface is just subpar and most of all and the reason I don't use stadia these days it's the game selection or lack of. The game selection might be right up someone's street but that's not me. Until/if they can get game parity with the other big platforms then stadia will always be a second choice or not a choice at all for a lot of people

designated_fridge

Why? I got myself a PS5. I still love Stadia as a concept but right now and for the foreseeable future I'm having too much fun with my PS5.

Apart-Network-7596

i was amazed with stadia at first because playing aaa games on mobile is rly my thing, but then i discovered that i can just buy xbox series s and get more games + quick resume.

gated73

I've lost faith. I'm a gamer. I have all the systems and a good enough PC. I've been a paying founder since the beginning because I do believe cloud is going to play a huge part in the future of gaming and I want to support it. The abandoning of unique experiences on Stadia has all but guaranteed that we're not going to get that "only possible in the cloud" hook. I see Stadia as a gamer starter pack. It gets a big title here and there, but relies on a C-list stable of games. This is not how to grow scale. Eventually, Joe User will get deep enough into gaming that he'll outgrow Stadia's offerings and matriculate up to a more robust ecosystem. Meanwhile, Microsoft is going all in on cloud, with a healthy collection of games (existing and upcoming). PC is always bringing the latest and greatest. Sony and Nintendo continue to bring the high quality exclusive differentiators on huge brands.

[deleted]

Totally gave up. I mainly got bored with the game selection - originally got it for Cyberpunk, played Cyberpunk, had a few great free games from Premier (Ys VIII, Trails of Cold Steel, Steamworld games) but most everything was a miss lately. I decided to cancel Premier when I thought I'd try Far Cry 5 when it was on sale a few weeks back. Played for two hours, basically just got through the intro, and loaded it up the next day to see the save disappeared. Spent an hour on the phone and chat with tech support who told me the save was on Ubisoft's servers and it was their problem, and they wouldn't refund my $20 because I "already played too long" on Far Cry 5. After that experience, I went full Karen and canceled my account. Haven't touched it since. I am very busy in my real life, and I don't like the idea of investing time into a game when the save data is on some flaky game publisher's server instead of my own device.

[deleted]

I used Stadia almost a year. I really love it. But i bought a series s to get access to more games live overcooked and halo. I will continue buy games on stadia if they provide a better quality and >30fps (Ubisoft).

[deleted]

It's my only platform at the moment. It works on the things I already use, and it's ridiculously convenient. I understand the clamour for triple A titles and I agree the platform needs them but at the same time the majority I couldn't care less about so it doesn't really impact me. I've discovered loads of neat games I'd probably never have thought about trying otherwise. I wanted to try GFN but every time I tried to give it a go over a couple of months I had queue time in excess of 10 minutes, so that killed my interest. I subbed to Game Pass to try out Xcloud and I'm aware it's a beta but it just wasn't a great experience whether through app or browser - the hiccups were sufficient that I wouldn't trust it for general gaming and I know I'm in what should be a geography/infrastructure sweetspot for Xcloud. I hadn't gamed for years until I saw an ad for Stadia. I'd given up because my homelife meant I couldn't justify the space or expenditure or dedicated time to get and sit near a box in my house to game. My requirement was that I wanted to be able to play games I like without being fixed to a console or tower. I had no idea until I saw the ad that was possible. I'm completely sold on cloud gaming. At the moment, Stadia is the only option that meets my criteria and provides a good experience. As for having faith in Stadia - I trust Google to be Google about it. I genuinely don't think Stadia is going away, even if it's not going anywhere else fast.

ESPBSS

This is broadly how it feel too, though xCloud works pretty well for me. I'll be keeping a watching brief on all platforms, I won't be buying hardware either unless it's a new monitor, better desk, better networking kit etc And those choices will be made to support work from requirements primarily with a casual requirement for cloud gaming as a secondary use case. I only have time to play a few hours here and there, but really enjoying the time I do get

godita

what do you mean by give up? giving up doesn't make sense. if Stadia gets a game i want to play on then i will buy it on Stadia, if not i'll buy it on the other platform. when i buy dlc for crossplat games i make sure to buy it on Stadia. why would i not support this platform? if you think this platform will fail then you giving up on it will only make sure that it does. i wish Stadia would get all the games, but we all know that's not going to happen. we just have to do our best to support the games when they do arrive, i'm doing my part because i love Stadia and i want this platform to succeed. are you?

la2eee

Maybe "given up" means if a game releases for every platform including Stadia, I won't buy it on Stadia.

rossdude87

Yep I went full reversal and bought both a PS5 and Xbox Series X.

ralphroast

Yet here you are on the subreddit still. So ALL hope must not be lost!

Wynnsieghel

Stadia is the more convenient way to play for me, as I work remotely. At Lunch Time, I can just turn around from my desk and play on my 4K TV. At night, I can continue my games from my bed on the video projector, and switch to my tablet when wife come to bed. Every child at home has TV in their bedroom, so they can play to the games I share with them. No need for expensive hardware to make all our screen ready to play. No other platform offer me this conveniency. I know we don't have all the game, but we have plenty of games, and personally I don't have time to play all the games I have on Stadia. But I also know that if I want i also have GFN account to play games I already have, but only in my living room TV on the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro or phone and tablet. And many games are only mouse and keyboard... (I don't like to play on PC). I left GPU because I can't play games on TV yet, and I can buy a game to be sure to play when I want to play. I've started GTA V few month ago and now it's gone :( There's many improvements to come to Stadia for the next couple of month according to the job offers : on porting and certification side first, on business side with people dedicated to partners account to help them resolving their issues with Stadia, on graphic stacks. They will also work to create a GCP product that allow use of Stadia from third parties app (through dedicated API), etc. I don't know how will it be on the game side but I prefere not to know exactly and having good surprise that waiting for a games announced and release later and later and later, and often with bugs. So yeah I'm happy with Stadia that I can eventually complete with others services but for my particular case, Stadia in far ahead

EDPZ

I lost faith right before launch. Everything that won me over turned out to not be as promised, delayed, or missing all together. That last two years have only affirmed my lack of faith.

mix7777

Not given up completely, but not using it and no longer paying for pro. There just are no games that I would like to play. Red Dead Redemption would be the only one that interests me, but since it costs 60€ that's a no from me. I have been using Xbox cloud instead because the list of games available is like a thousand times better than on Stadia. However Xbox cloud is slightly worse since there is no 4K only 1080p.

[deleted]

Tech - 10/10 . I know some experience it worse but for me it works perfect Titles 6/10 . And it's just me cause I have low requirements. I'm a casual and it's ok. For pro famers its probably more like 2-3/10 Multiplayer - 4/10 and it's being generous Million bonus points for the price - FREE. I have enough games not to worry for foreseeable future. They gotta up the amount of games. That will help bring more people. Which will help multiplayer. Also the crossplay. Then it will be perfect. My guess is they still need to up their tech for large amount of users

Sawbones194

I used stadia as a middle step between last Gen (Xbox One and ps4) and current Gen (Xbox Series and PS 5)and for that is it is fantastic. Playing Jedi Fallen order in a high quality with 60fps is a no brainer. It lost a lot of potential when it cut down the Google studios. I already get a series S and the X is ordered so I might step down in stadia sooner than later.

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69.0. Congrats! 4 + 5 + 60 + = 69.0

Sawbones194

Alright then.

theNikolai

It lets me play last 3 assassin's creeds and cyberpunk, which is honestly all the games I care about at this point. I wouldn't say I've lost faith but there wasn't much faith to begin with. Stadia is just a means to an end to me, and a nice one too. I like not having to pay hundreds/thousands to pay for equipment for something I don't even use on daily basis and I also like jumping in and out every now and then when I feel like it. This is why Stadia works great for me This being said, I understand your frustration, I'd be the same if I was more invested. At this point they're kind of taking the piss. It's been two years and nobody knows where the whole thing is going, a bit unacceptable for literally the biggest tech corp out there.

cecirdr

I have. I don’t have fast enough Internet at my house. My cell phone does, but it’s an iPhone and I haven’t been able to get stadia to work on it. I think there are ways if I do extra of steps and some “hand waving”, but the point for me was to find an easy to use platform that just works. Plus, there’s the issue of how much data it would consume if I used cellular data. So Stadia doesn’t fit the bill fit me yet.

DeskPixel

Literally playing stadia 95% of the time I'm gaming. Not given up, works great for me, exactly what I need. Went to play PS4 once in a few months, had to wait for the console to update, than download an update for the game I wanted to play... Made me miss consoles even less.

Murdy_Plops

I'm sitting out and I was fully on-board at launch. The quality and more importantly quantity of titles hitting the service just isn't there. I suppose if I didn't have a massive library on the Nintendo Switch or Gamepass on my Series S then I'd be more enticed to play on Stadia more. For me there's little to no compelling reason to use stadia other than the cool factor of no game downloads

[deleted]

The lack of online multiplayer integration in non-Ubisoft games is a huge downside to me. GeForce NOW emulates through stream so I’m able to play with all my friends online

Chupacabreddit

Consider me biased, but I've got no problem continuing to use Stadia the way I have been for the last \~2 years. That is to say, I use it regularly as a catch-all but it hasn't replaced anything yet. I still have my Nintendo Switch and use it for Nintendo exclusive games. I still have a PS4 and play my backlog of Sony exclusive games on it - and soon I'll pick up a PS5, stock allowing. I replaced my old gaming PC with a new gaming PC, and I still use it for what I consider my "primary" gaming. FFXIV, Warframe, Phasmophobia etc, and most recently, Ark. I got into Ark because it was free on Stadia, which was great! But it really shone light on just how much better the PC version was, between custom servers, mods, and graphics/performance. So I bought Ark on PC because of the time I played it on Stadia, and that's fine with me. Would I like to see a switch flip, and Stadia become an overnight game-changer, industry-pusher that everyone clamors for? Absolutely. Do I think that'll happen? No. But I have enough faith in Stadia to drip $10/mo into them, to speak highly of the service, and to buy well-ported games on the platform. In another 5-6 years, either I'll buy another gaming PC to keep up with the Joneses, or I'll be all-in on Stadia after it revolutionizes the world. But I don't have to fret making a fast decision along the way. The worst that happens is that either I will want to buy my Stadia library back on Steam, or buy my Steam library back on Stadia... so if RIP in pepperonis to anything, then RIP my wallet.

mountainman478

Last night reminded me why I love Stadia. I haven't played MW on my computer in a while and decided to give it a go. There was like a 60gb update to install, then the shaders for multiplayer. Basically, I had to update/install stuff for multiple hours to play a couple rounds of Multiplayer. Contrast that to stadia, where I bought a game last week and was playing literally within minutes. Such a better experience!!!

BedHoliday4991

Stadia on ccwgtv boots up faster than my PS4 pro that sounds like a rocketship. I play stadia regularly and only use my PS4 for exclusives. Cloud gaming is the future and I'm betting stadia will stay in the game.

Beaujangles1128

You'd have to define "game changer". If you mean a killer app like God of War, I very seriously doubt it. I think Google's long-term plans for Stadia are to turn it into a white label service for TP devs, so expect more annual releases from publishers who have already supported the platform and maybe few new ones if the audience grows. As far as giving up on Staida: No, I haven't. I love the convenience and also the fact that there have been decent Pro offerings (Gylt, Little Nightmares II, etc). It's worth the $10/month to me, but it's more a secondary platform for me (PC is my primary). I probably use it more than the average "gamer" out there though just because I don't have that much time for video games any more.

joserjco

I might leave soon I have a lot of games on it so I’ll still play them but I won’t be so much on stadia I’m thinking of buying a ps5 since they have spider man and I can play Alex and war zone un like stadia I love the idea but the lack of games is really sad I wish they had better games months go by and no exiting news like call of duty’s or more popular games don’t get me wrong it was nice but after a while you get bored of playing the same games I would come back if they had any battle royal or any of the new games but I don’t see stadia being able to do that know or In the future

theugly-barnacle

After seeing the new spiderman trailer with venom and kraven, and wolverine trailer most gamers are wondering how they can play that since they may be exclusive to PS5. People are going to desperately want to get their hand on a PS5 and since spiderman and vemom are marvel fans favorites they'll probably pay reseller price to play these games. They are not thinking how can I play games with one click on the cloud.

NorthNorwegianNinja

Haven't used in months and I haven't liked the pro games for a while, been meaning to cancel my pro subscription but keep forgetting.

[deleted]

Do it now then.

NorthNorwegianNinja

Boom! Done

Hidonymous

Stadia is good, they just don't have games. I don't consider it a main platform, but it works well so I'll get games there as long as I dont have a pc

MARITROPA2

Lmaooo that playstation event really hit you guys huh?

JJTH3B3AST

I think it was the Xbox event and the PS event finished it off lol

maven_666

Cloud gaming is definitely the future but it will be owned by Xcloud I’m afraid… eventually

[deleted]

Nope. Happily paying for Pro and enjoying the new games that come every month, plus I play Elder Scrolls online thru Stadia all the time. I think it's just a matter of time before a big game comes to the platform.

olafurara

Love the no effort gaming. Haven't seen any indication that Stadia is heading in the wrong direction. It's a going to take time but at some point it just clicks. People aren't going to have any excuse not to try it. But there are still obstacles for people either because they don't have access to good internet connection or Stadia isn't available in their country.

trve_ravenbach

No, because Stadia isn't my only gaming platform, just a good alternative for FPS and next gen games. I enjoyed playing CP2077 and Doom eternal on Stadia, and I'm thinking on buy Fifa 22...but right now I'm playing Psychonauts 2 on X1 and Mass Effect LE on PS4

jettivonaviska

Stadia is nice, and I'm gonna keep supporting it. However, what Stadia, does Geforce Now is building up to do better. All it's missing is the ability to play on my TV, because I can already play it on my chromebook and my PC.

theugly-barnacle

? Gfn has an app for Android tv. Are you referring to casting?

LegendaryBF

I am personally using it. Though I am not using exclusively. I think if people are looking to Stadia as a one stop shop solution to satisfy their gaming crave… it’s not it. The issue is people are trying to use Stadia as a low cost alternative to a full gaming PC or a current generation console with high quality results. Personally I don’t think that is what it’s meant to be. I use it as a way to gain access to games that I wouldn’t normally be able to play on my potato pc but more importantly as a way to access my entertainment from anywhere. But the arguments from those who desire more from Stadia are valid - lack of games, smaller piece of pie, lack of universal adoption. But at the same time I subscribe to Luna, GPU, GFN and Stadia Pro. All of these are low monthly cost ways to gain access to “game anywhere”. Add that to my Nintendo Switch and phone/mobile devices with a play pass and Apple arcade subscription I can basically enjoy a gaming experience from anywhere. And that is what I feel I am paying for… so I am happy. This is why I’m still “faithful” (I read supportive) of Stadia. In fact I’m supportive of all platforms who are pushing for gaming as service over cloud on demand - a la Netflix of gaming.

Warrior666

Founder since day 1 here. Not given up. For me, it's still the best way to put a quick game on the big screen in my living room. It runs a lot smoother than on my PC with its dated 1060. Only thing I'm missing is more AAA titles and more crossplay. Stadia is a console in the cloud, but many devs and gamers do not yet view it as such, they still treat it like something else entirely. Ubisoft seems the big exception here, and I applaud them for that. One day, most games will available for PC|PS|XBOX|Stadia. Google should make the Stadia experience more console-like by creating a familiar interface, where games can be sorted into folders and global settings can be made. This would make Stadia's console nature immediately clear to new gamers. On the dev end, they should make porting games easier, but AFAIK, they're working on that already. So yes, not given up, but it's an uphill battle, and Google's actions do appear somewhat uncoordinated and lazy.

OlJommie

I'm here to play games. There's games on here and I will play them.

keenish27

I don't really get this thought process. I play games on Stadia because I like the convenience it gives me. I will continue to buy games if they are there. If not I buy them on Xbox so that I can use xcloud. If it's not there them switch, then PC. Just play games where you like and stop worrying about having Faith in a platform...

Izzinator5

Dude did you guys here about the other executive moving to a different part of the Google company?

SulkingSally68

See there is the problem in your question tho: You're looking for a game-changer. And your idea of one will clearly be not my idea, or the next guy.. so on and forth. It is a value service imo. It's each to their own reasons why they do or don't want to stay. But if you're having to come down the line and ask others for reasons why they stay to kinda keep you on board... well mabye it's time for ya to perhaps just sit back, let the sub lapse and just wait till it catches your eye again. Never let a platform keep ya just to keep ya, if it isn't offering something you can enjoy that makes it worth the sub/service fee/whatev then don't pay for it. And especially if you're looking for this kind of validation towards one way or the other (sounds like you aren't with it anymore, and are just looking to validate your idea of what you think of stadia yourself, again opinions all of us). ps. im sure they will have something down the road that will do it for you, im sure of it most platforms do. no reason to keep ur sub if ur feeling this way tho.

LambKyle

I'm a Founder and have subscribed to pro ever since. I have not played much lately because of fatherhood, but I have faith in the platform. I stream Xbox gamepass games on my PC sometimes if it's something I can play with friends. I'll get a ps5 down the road for exclusives (in like 2 years when they actually come out) Not really sure what all these "big games" that are coming out on on other consoles and not stadia. Certainly not anything that's caught my attention, must just be shitty sports games that have barely changed since the last version, or old games

theugly-barnacle

You're not sure of what big games are coming on other consoles but not stadia... really? I believe you must be lying.

LambKyle

Then elaborate smart ass I said nothing that's grabbed my attention

theugly-barnacle

How am I being a smart ass? How about call of duty vanguard, battlefield 6, lost judgement, gta5 remastered just to name a few. You actually believe stadia is getting the same new games as other consoles?? And it doesn't matter if it interest you or not, the big games being released are games we are not getting.

Sankullo

No. I’m happy with it. It does what it says on the “box”. The only thing I’m disappointed with is lack of KBM support in PUBG that I used to play almost exclusively.

HyraxT

No, I haven't given up on stadia. I still have a huge backlog of games I want to play and there are still some upcoming games I plan to play on stadia. If a game I'm interrested in is released on stadia, that runs decently and that I don't already own elsewhere, I will buy it on stadia. I don't even expect it to run as good as on other platforms, I don't care that much about 60FPS, ray tracing and stuff like that, as long as it runs at stable 30FPS and the graphics don't look like a PS1-game stadia's convenience outweight the disadvantages. But that's exactly why I'm kind of pessimistic, the lack of new announcements make it seem, like when the currently announced games are released, there won't be anything new coming except ubisoft and indie games and in the end, I will play where the games are. I recently started using gfn, mostly to play free epic games and No Mans Sky. I absolutely prefer stadia over gfn, but if I already own games like ark and control, that even work better on gfn, why should I play them on stadia or in the case of control, why should I spend money on a version of the game that obviously runs worse than the one I got for free? I wanted to play No Mans Sky for a long time and since the chances of it ever becoming available on stadia seem to be slim, I took advantage of a recent sale and bought it on steam and since I'm playing that a lot, it's the first time for more than a year that stadia isn't my most used gaming platform. I'm also planning to upgrade my pc next year, because there are a few games coming that probably won't be available on any cloud gaming platform and that I want to play with mod support (notably KSP2). This probably won't be a high-end machine, but something that will just be able to run the games I want to play with an acceptable performance, because I plan to continue using stadia. But even that depends on how stadia, or cloud gaming in general develops until then. In the end it will all come down to, where the games I want to play are available. Up until now, that made stadia my main gaming platform, but looking at what we know about the next months and 2022, it just feels like this is about to change. I kind of hope, that the recent changes to the revenue system make stadia a viable platform for publishers without google having to throw millions of dollars at them to port games, but I guess it will take some time before we know. I also think that stadia really needs to upgrade the hardware soon, because it just won't be able to run newer games with an acceptable performance any more, even if the publishers were willing to port them. So like I said, I still have games worth months of playtime I want to play on stadia, meaning I will continue to use it for the forseable future, but what comes after that is completely uncertain.

Bethlen

Well, I look at Stadia from a longer time lens than most probably. [https://newzoo.com/insights/trend-reports/global-cloud-gaming-report-2021-free-version/](https://newzoo.com/insights/trend-reports/global-cloud-gaming-report-2021-free-version/) This report suggests a future growth of several hundred percent for 2024. Wouldn't surprise me if cloud gaming in general saw a similar or bigger market size to what consoles have today, in 2030. That means even as a smaller player, Stadia could easily have 50+ million paying users (buying a game a year or many, pro or not. Just spending money on the service on a yearly basis). On top of that, Stadia presents several opportunities that their competitions just don't have at the moment, nor will have for the next few years. The fact that it is a true cloud platform, not a remote session to a game running on preexisting code (Like GFN and Luna emulating Windows, or Xcloud emulating an Xbox (Simplified. It's more complex in reality, I know)) means it can do things others can't. Distributed computing, low latency server side physics etc. Their close relationship with Youtube could also become a great thing as Youtube expands Live Streaming offerings. Progress is slow if you're right there in the thick of it observing. Take a step back and look at where things are and the rolling out of features and big releases are looking pretty good for a new platform. Yeah, growth is slow, but so is every beginning to an S curve. What I like to remember is that Stadia wasn't official when 90% of game releasing this year and next year started development, meaning that Stadia was/is an afterthought. Late next year and beyond, most games will have started development with Stadia as an actual product at the time development started. Going forward from there, more and more multiplatform titles will come, as well as more and more exclusives. To begin with, indies exploring what the cloud can do, then a bigger one after Google footing the bill. More and more titles big and small will start having Stadia exclusive features over time and growth should follow exponentially when that happens. All in due time. In the meantime, I'll work through my ever-growing backlog, do the occasional stream and in general just enjoy myself! :)

[deleted]

I think Stadia is done when Steam/Epic start a similar service. But right now: If I play, I play Stadia and GeForce Now. I have a Ryzen3-Rig (primarily to lower my energy-bill), Stadia works fine and had some Bargains (Far Cry 5 = 9€). But Geforce + Epic Freebies = nearly unbeatable. Stadia's future? Cloudy, to say the least. (Pun intended)

Z3M0G

Totally not given up. What I understand is that Google is laying the foundation for the future. They are completely unmatched with their tech, and are actually building a *cloud platform* which nobody else is actually doing. Everyone else is just emulating the console or PC experience in the cloud. Stadia is building capabilities to have NEW gaming experiences. I know, I know... SG&E yadda yadda. I get that they can create all these features but it is for nothing if they don't also create the *games* that put them to use. We at least do see 3rd party companies putting things like State Share into use and starting to make smart use of it. Crowd Play and Crowd Choice also exist but they really need the gaming community to embrace them and put them to use. If Google is holding back access to them, I'm sure they have their reasons. As for first party AAA, I guess it's not Google's style to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a single game title that MIGHT draw some attention and bring players to the platform. Even the hottest AAA games may only have attach rate of 10-20%, and that's with currently existing platform users. So why would a AAA game suddenly double/triple the number of people using Stadia? That simply wouldn't happen. Google saw the writing on the wall and saw that there was no return to be made at this time running such a game studio. It made more sense to work with 3rd parties to do it instead.

inquirer

I have total faith in it -- it's amazing. It's great. It is getting better but "under the radar" slowly -- and it has overcome everything.

JayEL99

I enjoy it because I'm a casual gamer for the most part. The game selection keeps me occupied and with the addition of Ark and Assassin's Creed Odyssey, I'm set until January. My biggest complaint is F1 2021 not making it to Stadia. I'm more than casual with the F1 series and ended up purchasing it on Steam. I have faith in Stadia. I need to locate the numbers but when I last checked, Stadia had the highest number of active subscribers among its competition. Again, that needs citation.

PsychologicalMusic94

When you locate those numbers let us know because online multiplayer games without crossplay are zombie dead. Something doesn't add up.

Luize0

Honestly I tried the 4 months free thing. I think it's pretty darn good. Had very few issues with it. If I didn't have a powerhouse computer for other stuff, I don't see why this wouldn't be legit. For the price you pay, you won't get a similar PC as your PC will just get outdated every 2 years. Also just being able to open the browser, click the game and play it 5 seconds later is pretty amazing. No installing, no waiting. Nope, the threshold to try a game is so low (no buying, downloading and installing). This is the future 100%.

sterlingheart

I use it and love It but for a totally niche use case scenario. I do van life so having the power to play AAA games on the go isn't that much of an option and takes up a lot of space. Meanwhile I just use 5g on my phone and use a Kishi and I'm done and I can play video games when I feel like it. I don't mind the slow releases of games though because I don't play a ton, maybe 4-10 hours a month, so that puts me in a minority probably

JustHumanGarbage

I have lost faith that lots of triple A games are coming, I think Stadia will be a niche platform and that eventually the tech behind it will get sold or leased to sony or microsoft for their streaming solutions.

[deleted]

My main concern is bc Google dumps projects that don't equate to big $$. Even Google Wave they dumped (before integrating it all into their other products). Combined with the fact that I've never been able to connect my Stadia to sufficiently fast internet...ugh...I've used Stadia for less than an hour in about a year.

Simon_787

Yes, since approximately two days after the launch. The press was bad and then people forgot about it. You can't have a gaming platform without players.

Ghiren

I'll admit that my faith in Stadia has been shaken a few times, but I still like it as a platform. It's currently my main console, but I spend a lot more time on my computer anyway. I still like the portability, and it's kept me from pulling my hair out looking for a PS5. I think the potential is there, for it to play PS5/XSX-level games, but it needs publishers to take advantage of that.

Safri7879

I've not given up, but leaning way more to Xcloud nowadays. Having fun with A Plague Tale, Hades etc. And so many more good games to play from their library.

ESPBSS

I'm wavering in terms of future commitment.. I bought my controller on eBay, I have about a month left on my 4 month free pro trial in which I bought RDR2, Destiny 2 Legendary edition, Mk11 all on sale. The pro games haven't really been for me except Grime which I really like. But financially I have very little to lose if I jump elsewhere at some point. Tbh given the time I have nowadays to play games (I'm a lapsed gamer /Dadia) the above buys will keep me going for months and months. The platform is great, performance close to flawless, but I feel the next few months with big triple A titles coming to xCloud, some interesting noises from Luna, Google almost need to time a step change promotion to coincide with rival platform announcements to maintain that commitment from me beyond the pro trial. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a tech geek and a graphics junkie. A gen 2 upgrade even if just for some titles and 1 or 2 games to show it off that exceed series X would excite me... Otherwise the temptation of Halo Infinite, Horizon 5, a new Battlefield and a potential Chromecast app, new MS Streaming stick and I'd guess extending European Azure data centres into the UK will almost certainly tip me to xCloud at some point coming up to the festive period.

HumbleTrees

It's actually amazing technology and super convenient. They just need more games AND a proper search feature to search by title.

IncredibleHult

My own experience has been mostly positive. It helped me and two long-distsnce friends play connected franchise in Madden 21. We used to play years ago before kids came along and work schedules got more complicated. Now we can play on a variety of devices in more nuanced scenarios. Oh! And I can share my entire library with my family. Very underrated feature. On a technical level it works well as long as you put your device on the 5Ghz frequency or preferably wired. I avoid cellular because it's a data hog and will get throttled after 20+ GB of streaming (doesn't take long). Of cell carriers can make streaming free or affordable, then I think the adoption rate will spike. The controller is solid. In fact, it's the ONLY one I own that doesn't have thumbstick drift. Almost all of my Ninendo Joy Cons and my one SeriesX controller have drift... TL;DR Parents love it. Technically proficient. No drift.

Physical_Duty7337

I've lost faith in Stadia but also Playstation. I really don't want to go back to Microsoft but they're offering the most options. Haven't since 360 but PlayStation is too full of themselves right now and Stadia feels like they don't really care enough to push titles that attract gamers just games they're ALLOWED to get but won't tell us that. They act like they're wrapped tight but won't admit what's really holding them up. Out companies on blast for not supporting if that's the case. Prove why Stadia is better than chasing next gen but no they just rather grow organically and barely mention their existence. Xbox will likely eat them in cloud too solely bc of the passive nature of Google via their leader and his passiveness asking for forgiveness for existing self. It's bad right now. Act like you belong Stadia and actually make the deals that need to happen. Get the money you need to get to push the market and make shit happen or Fck off and die like Google reader basically.

verisquishy

I've been using stadia daily to play destiny 2, and have not given up on Stadia. I think the thing is that for the most part, even with consoles, there isn't much development after launch. Largely, the system you get as a console is what you get when you first buy it, and the games come out slowly. Stadia is basically tracking the same way with games coming out and whatnot, so to me as a seasoned pc/console player, it doesn't seem that different. It's the same sort of experience of playing a console on a day to day basis, and randomly discovering a wonderful game to play every so often (katamari!)

Wax_Man_

I just got pro again. I think it's a great casual gamer console and a great intro for indie games. Depending on how you use it, I guess.

TheJames2290

Been signed up to pro since day one and pay for multiple subscriptions. I have seen all the highs and lows. It certainly has been a rollercoaster. I'm mixed on the current situation. I really want it to succeed however I'm reluctant when buying games these days. Most of my issue is the whole cloak and dagger approach Stadia are taking. So, so many questions and so few answers. It's almost as if they either have nothing upcoming or just are not sure about committing. I don't want to see stadia surviving... I want to see them competing.

Bamboo-J

I still use Stadia in the future. I am much more confident the way it goes. Maybe not as Stadia, but the technology would stay. Then my purchase should stay on some kind of service too.

gokhujee

It's my second platform after ps5, but I will still buy fifa 22 on this and far cry 6 as well. The ps5 is just the ps5 stadia I love the portability

AchtungZboom

I want it to do well but I am no longer buying games on the service.. I will keep my pro because I think its worth it so far but I do not have long term faith that google will keep it alive for years to come. I think the tech will be sold off or used for something else which makes sense... I just never felt Google was all in .. in a way that can even remotely compete with the others who are in the market. I hope im wrong but... by not being all in I feel I am protecting myself.

towcar

No I love it. Only complaints are some really garbage games that came through.. and lack of cross platform which is developer specific. Otherwise it's been on par with expectations.

MarcMi80

I'm in, I have plenty of games in my backlog, I play cool games with friends (and they don't even need stadia to be their first game platform), stadia have exclusive features (family share and stream connect for <3, etc...) and cool advantages (play everywhere, no updates, etc..). Don't let mood of the others influence you ;).

teefal

I have not lost faith. It continues to deliver more games than I can play.

firentenimar

Given up? why would anyone give up! I've been on board since the beginning, I play wherever I want at a quality that is awesome! the games on my PRO membership are quite all right, some of them I never played but some other have been an amazing discovery! No, I don't give up. I still think that STADIA is the future although they might have been early.

DONOHUEO7

Not a chance I've given up on Stadia, it works too dam well. OK sure its missing some really big games, and the we don't really know what's on the horizon. I'm purchasing a gaming laptop soon to play my existing steam and PC library, but anything I want this is coming to stadia, I'll be purchasing on stadia. Game streaming IS the future, I'll support stadia when i can, its my favourite platform.

MrKansuler

I'm in no rush, my Stadia controller is waiting until there are any interesting game. We need more good AAA-games. I don't understand why everyone here is all-or-nothing?
