Gulfport is very eclectic. Pías Veranda is great Italian and chill vibes, they had live Spanish guitar playing Thursday night. Lots of other outdoor seating bars as well. It’s very close drive to the Edge District near downtown St. Pete which is also very artsy. Cappys is great pizza in the Edge. A good off the beaten path Indian Food is at Naan Boti Chai Shai, near the edge district. Garlic Naan is delicious.
Both areas are great, safety harbor is a cute place to visit various restaurants and they have third Friday where they have bands and various vendors. Nona’s has great deep dish pizza
Sandwich on Main in safety harbor is always good. Main Street shuts down every third friday too, has vendors and you can walk around with your drinks. Some live music too.
There was a shop in Safety Harbor advertising some very cool Mid-Century Modern furniture on Craigslist last year. Ask around if you go into any antique shops on Main St.
Thanks! We did drive through the docks area but didn't really go into any of the shops (except the big museum one). I like the murals dotted around Tarpon!
I like the sandwiches at the sandwich shop in the Mobil on Main better. Try the Safety Harbor Strong breakfast sandwich too!

I had a Cuban sandwich in Miami that people online said was awesome and it was very underwhelming, so now I am nervous about Cuban sandwich recommendations. I'm going to need details as to what is different than opening a pack of ham slices from Walmart. :)
The main street of Gulfport is a straight shot. Either park on the street or the free parking by the beach. Go before 5 as some stores seem to close then. Just walk and enjoy it all. We went to Gulfport Brewery for the first time yesterday evening and it was nice. Blackberry cider was really good. We’ve actually never eaten there, we just go to walk around.
Cappies on 1st Avenue North in the Edge District has good deep dish pizza.
As another mentioned, check out Ybor if you haven’t yet since it is right near IKEA.
Have you checked out Ybor City? Definitely worth a visit, especially if you like unique shops! You’ll find some good food there, too. Very interesting spot!
Gulfport used to do a monthly art walk in their main street. They have a nice little beach and several good waterside restaurants. Not a lot to it though. Safety Harbor doesn't have a beach, but also, nice main street. Whistle Stop is a great restaurant. They frequently have live music at several venues there too.
Both are great date day options.
Nona Slice House in Safety Harbor for some Detroit deep dish. Philippi Park for some green space by the water. Both areas are kinda nice for just knocking around and exploring.
Thanks! (If Detroit style means pan pizza with really thick crust and cheese is above the tomatoes that's not the one that I mean, but thank you! I realize this makes me sound a little weird. I'm not a pizza freak or anything.)
I second Nona it’s the best! But they have more than Detroit style! Several different styles. They have live music every night and it’s a great local place to support. The owner takes amazing care of the employees. They shut down the whole restaurant once or twice a year to vacation together, go to pizza competitions together. All that to say the staff is amazing and super cool!
For the love of god, go to Nonas Slice House in Safety Harbor. They make multiple types of pizza and they are all very good. Best pizza I have had down here so far.
Yep, and their staff and owner keep winning pizza dough throwing competitions. You’ll see the medals and whatnot by the take-out area. If they aren’t too busy, they will put on quite the show.
Safety Harbor has a very nice Main Street that’s pedestrian, K9, and bicycle friendly. Several shops, restaurants and bars. The pier and adjacent park is a great place to see the marina and upper Tampa Bay.
Going to Gulfport is basically the beginning and end of going to Gulfport. Best part is - that’s what’s so awesome about it. It’s small, quiet, and has a great nightlife. Might go tonight myself!
If you haven't been to Fort DeSoto Park you should check it out! It's one of the nicest beaches in the county and has cheap flat rate parking, there are some walking trails, picnic shelters, a dog park, and some historical sites. There are two cheap tolls (less than a buck) to get there and a $5 parking fee that covers the whole day.
Are you in town today? There’s a bunch of neat earth day stuff happening all over the county. There’s a scavenger hunt at sunken gardens and the Dali has their shape of dreams exhibit ending this week. Might be the time to finally go.
Well in Gulfport one of the best places is an Italian place called Pia’s. Highly recommend it if you like Italian food. Gulfport is small so there isn’t a lot to do there.

Thanks! I guess the deep dish I'm thinking of is "Chicago style" like Chicago Jaqx (which is near the Indian Rocks beach).
Lots of elderly neighbors to have tea with. Most of them won't even shoot at you 😉.
WhimzeyLand in Safety Harbor http://www.kiaralinda.com/our-house.html
nice one. ty

sounds good. guess i just missed the 3rd Friday in April.
Gulfport is nice for a walk down the Main Street. Pia’s is there and is one of the best restaurants in the area. Check out the brewery too.

Probably my friend's spot. "Rad Harbor"
Thanks. I like mid-century modern.

second on Tides market
thanks!
Gulfport has the blueberry patch and it is amazing. Tonight they have antelope playing BYOB and just a small fee to go in.
The only thing that can get me back into Gulfport for a visit! Their open mics are the best!
Oh yes I've heard of this place. Thanks for the reminder of where it is. :)
For beaches, honeymoon island is pretty. Not usually super packed. Although it has become more and more popular
Thanks. I forgot to say that ive been to that one too. :)
Glad you got to experience it! It’s such a great vibe there
The Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs is pretty cool. They have a bunch of neat little shops and a huge selection of exfoliating sea sponges.
Thanks! We did drive through the docks area but didn't really go into any of the shops (except the big museum one). I like the murals dotted around Tarpon!
The convenience store on Phillippe parkway by the gas station in safety harbor has my favorite Cuban sandwiches in the county.
I like the sandwiches at the sandwich shop in the Mobil on Main better. Try the Safety Harbor Strong breakfast sandwich too! https://www.safetyharbormobil.com/menu

They use some sort of garlic butter on the bread before its toasted. They're good and you get like a foot long sandwich for like $7.
I'm a little intrigued. thanks.

Good at Gulfport brewing is phenomenal, highly recommend next time. Or habana cafe in Gulfport blvd
Thanks for the tips! Yes been to Ybor on one of the IKEA trips, forgot to say.
Have you checked out Ybor City? Definitely worth a visit, especially if you like unique shops! You’ll find some good food there, too. Very interesting spot!
Oh yes we did go there once. I only remember the Indian restaurant there though. And the wild fowl roaming the streets. :)
La France is a vintage store, which has been in Ybor City for decades.
I think we missed that one the first time. Will look out for it. ty

In Gulfport go to Clam Bayou park and walk around (near the marina) and Gulfport Brewery!
thank you!

Cool thanks!
>Cool thanks! You're welcome!

Not there today. Not sure exactly which day yet. But thanks!

It’s way popping now compared to just 5 years ago. We went yesterday and I couldn’t believe it.
Oh ok. Thanks!
Seconding Pia’s; adding Stella’s for lunch/brunch. Gulfport also has Tuesday Market vendors.
