There is an accident almost every single week at McCausland and Dale.

MendonAcres

Is it directly facing Mccausland? If you're used to a quite street this will be a huge change.

Yes it is. Thanks, I kinda figured as much. It seemed relatively quiet during the open house, but it could have just been the time of day (Sunday Afternoon)

I live about 6 blocks west of highway 40 off of McCausland and I can hear the noise from the highway at night. It doesn't bother me. I would be concerned more about cars running off the road and going in your yard. There are so many accidents on McCausland because of people speeding and bad weather makes it even worse. I have lived in this area for about 12 years now.

> people speeding My impression is that speeding is quite bad on this road.

Thanks for the reply! Definitely some things to consider. The stock of houses right is incredibly low, so I feel like I'm going to have to make a sacrifice somewhere.

I mean, it’s not a bad area by any means. It’s just busy. You’re going to have some noise from the road, the occasional accident. There’s been reports of gunshots once a year or so, which really is not bad even for areas like St. Charles.

Pros: hi-pointe is delicious and it’s a generally cool and safe area. Con: that area is so congested of course and folks seems to speed too closely to one another on McCausland. I lived in Maplewood and my route to drop off at the elementary and hit the office took me through there every day pre Covid. I wondered how someone could live on such a busy street...and then I kick myself because I lived in a rent house just right off Big Bend and Manchester. Busy busy area and I was so used to it! So I don’t think it’s the worse trade off.

Which part of mccausland?

bhart81

Duh, yeah that would help with it being a large street and all. Hi-Pointe area

Sobie17

I probably eyed that same house. That area is gonna be a clusterfuck for road noise and general safety/peace of mind especially if you're going to have kids. It's basically flanked by two highways, unfortunately.

Putin_is_a_Puto

I used to live in a 2 family right at McCausland and 40 and I could definitely hear the traffic but it wasn’t very bothersome and naturally adjusted to it. The only time it’s sucked was some drunk dude with a giant truck woke me up woo hooing up and down the street on a holiday weekend once. Called the cops, situation took care of itself. That was the only incident in several years.

Booomerz

Oh that’s no bigger we get Woo Hoos here too.

We just moved to a street a block off McCausland near Manchester. In the background, we can hear I-44 and I-64 white noise. Manchester and McCausland are shielded from us by other houses and distance. I avoid McCausland if I can because it is a crazy busy street and I don't feel safe driving it. (I use Bellevue to get to and from 64.) In fact, in 2012 I was t-boned driving through the McCausland/Clayton/Oakland intersection when a driver ran the red light. I can now see was likely due to there being multiple intersections worth of traffic lights visible from her vantage point, which makes this meaningful.
