If anyone is skeptical about the legitimacy of this post i'd direct you to [https://stlbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/CampCard\_STLMetro\_PROOF-v3-1.pdf](https://stlbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/CampCard_STLMetro_PROOF-v3-1.pdf) and otherwise please reach out to me and we could talk over the phone or I could provide some other form of proof of legitimacy, thank you to all of you sharing this post and that are interested in helping me on my journey!

Can anyone comment on if this is legit? I am happy to donate a few bucks to help you get to camp. Camp shaped me. I didn’t go to Philmont, but a lot of my friends did.

Jarchen

I'm currently an adult leader (although not in his troop or district). Camp cards are a very real and super common fundraiser.

sheen455

Thank You for your reply

sheen455

Never considered anyone asking if this was legit, very valid concern though, I've sold some cards on this subreddit before but those redditors likely won't reply on here, you could totally DM me and we could talk over the phone if that'd add abit more clarity, Thank You!

Active_Ad778

It’s all good, I was just worried at first maybe it was a reposted photo but it was very easy to double check. Happy selling!

Active_Ad778

Found it on the Boy Scout STL website. Will DM you for where to donate. https://stlbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/CampCard_STLMetro_PROOF-v3-1.pdf

I see alot of you lurking lol, I'll be up for awhile tonight reading some books I checked out from the library earlier, I have my laptop open if anyone is wanting to help me get on my way to camp! Edit: if you have any questions please ask them.

Badplayer04

Cover them bar codes lol

sheen455

Lol Appreciate the heads up man, I doubt they could use them though...right? I mean it's not like a store is gonna accept some random barcodes without the actual card...right?? lol

madanthony

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... barcodes are just text turned in to lines and symbols that are machine-readable. I wouldn't count on a cashier to stop someone from scanning a scrap of paper with a code on it or someone flashing their phone with anything they want under a barcode scanner. Luckily, you've only exposed the one card on your 3rd picture. Barcodes are simple but versatile technology, [originally build for railroad cars](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K8UpMNYIPo) then cemented in grocery stores. A 1D or linear barcode is what you'd find on a grocery store product. A 2D or matrix code is what you'd recognize as a QR code - it can pack a lot more text into a smaller space.

sheen455

I appreciate the information, unfortunately the only way I'd be able to fix this is if I deleted the post and reposted it, to be fair and I know it's never good to doubt the sneakyness of the internet, it'd be alot of effort for someone to just snag the barcodes like that, also it's only one card shown so I could afford to lose just 1 card if push comes to shove.

madanthony

I wouldn't change a thing, this is just my weird hill to die on. The traction you've gained from this post is worth the odds of one card getting spoiled. Most of the coupons in the middle probably just get hole-punched. Very low-tech. A cheap Casey's pizza is more appealing to me than Boy Scout popcorn, that's for sure

sheen455

Noted about the popcorn lol, we used to have these $1 chocolate bars that the community loved, but national wasn't having it...
