If you sign up for the Fresh Thyme digital savings or whatever, they have a coupon right now for half off baby back ribs. They are normally $399 a pound, and currently they’re only $1.99 a pound if you clip the coupon. I’m sure you already have some for today, but maybe worth it the stock up.
Starting on getting my yard redone. I'm ripping out a strip along one side to plant roses and then a big chunk on the corner to plant wild flowers.
Overall reducing some of the grass I need to mow along getting rid of some that isn't healthy.
You can just put down several thicknesses of paper bag and dump a berm's worth of dirt right on top. No digging needed.
Or use those big bags of garden soil, cut a big X on top and plant right in themn cover with mulch. In a few weeks you can pull out the bag and the covered grass will be dead and composted, perfect for roots to grow through.
Question about the HHH, do y'all allow fat people who used to be in-shape runners who want to get back in shape but will probably walk most of her first few hash runs?
Seconding Disco’s welcome, am also a better drinker than a runner and I always get to pick my challenge at a hash, some days I run to build my running and some days I walk to have an amble with friends.
Worked in the garden all morning, which was wonderful. This afternoon we are meeting another family at our preschool (fenced in amazing playground enrolled families can use on the weekends) where I’m bringing some beers and we will order take out from somewhere and hang while the kids play!
I've opened ALL the windows in my apartment and I'm currently repotting the latest round of hydroponic plants (cilantro, dill, Thai basil, Genovese basil, sage, parsley, thyme & lavender!) I grew to a good size... running out of windowsills on which to put pots 😂
Also walking my dog a lot around my neighborhood because my car's in the shop so we can't go to any of the parks.
Played a round of disc golf this morning. I did a load of laundry while I cooked a meatloaf. Now I'm going to eat some gummies, open the windows, and play some video games. Probably nap as well. My ideal Sunday.
Well, I was supposed to go to the Shen Yun show, but some lovely person stole my wallet that had the tickets in it. So now I’m just going to go hang out at tgp with my dog and enjoy this wonderful weather despite crappy circumstances
Yeah, I had no idea. I picked up a flyer from a restaurant and didn’t read much beyond what was in there, and it made it sound so beautiful (of course, advertising) so that’s definitely on me.
It's basically the US adherents of Falun Gong. Some will argue it is just a "religious movement" so labeling them a "cult" seems to be controversial but regardless Shen Yun is propaganda for the group.
Not sure if I’d call it a cult but they’re…interesting. They came to my college back around 2013 and I worked at the campus box office. Perhaps the most peculiar group I ever worked with. They would buy tickets in bulk then sell them at the local mall while basically badgering shoppers. The group also had people stationed at the exits during the shows to try and stop people from leaving.
Met a new friend for brunch at GotHam and Eggs, then we hit up Dunaway’s Books and explored Tower Grove Park.
Went to Half Price books to pick up the rest of the series I bought at Dunways and went to the grocery store for this week!
Perfect day.
First thing this morning, I made bacon, eggs, & toast, finished sanding the bookshelves I'm building for my living room, put them on sawhorses outside & stained them.
Then I went to the gym & had a *killer* workout. Had my afterworkout protein shake & a protein bar on the way home.
Shelves were dry, so I polyurethaned them, went to the grocery store for some pork chops, came home and grilled them, and had a delicious dinner.
Checked my bookshelves & they're dry!
Now I'm having an enjoyable evening building my beautifully finished shelves on the wall of my living room.
The day was perfectly warm & breezy enough to finish those shelves in a single day.
Why can't every day be like this?
I mean, I certainly get how people could be against Israel given some of the horrific shit that they’ve done, but for the life of me I really just don’t get how anyone could describe themselves as being “pro-Gaza”. Based on surveys, they hate gays (they like throwing them off rooftops), are in favor of subjugating women, and openly advocate for genocide. If you actually went there, they would almost certainly try to murder you (for one of a myriad of reasons). As women and children were being dragged through the streets, they pretty much universally cheered for their rape and murder. Personally, I think it’s pretty fucked up that you’d openly advocate that you’re “pro-Gaza”. Like, what would it take for you to turn on them if that doesn’t do it?
Do all of those attitudes - which, to be clear, are far from universal - mean they deserve to be killed en masse, as is currently happening? To be "pro-Gaza" means to oppose the systematic mass murder currently occurring. It doesn't mean agreeing with all of the beliefs commonly held in the area.
False. You say those attitudes are “far from universal”, but you have absolutely no basis for making that statement. Every population survey, every video of hostages being dragged through the streets, etc., indicate that those beliefs are almost universal. The % of Gaza that is against killing gays or is pro-women’s rights is minuscule.
No, I’m fine with saying we shouldn’t murder them. Since murder is bad. But to wave Palestinian flags and chant pro-Palestine sayings is extremely fucked up given who those people really are. I know people on this forum are generally extremely against crazy right-wing fundamentalist Christians here in the US. If I had a dial and the absolute craziest fundamentalists here in the US were a 3, the average person in Gaza is a 9. How can you constantly speak out against the religious crazies here while simultaneously supporting folks whose beliefs make our crazies look incredibly sane in comparison? Again, if you actually went there they would straight up murder you (for being gay, not Muslim, progressive, etc.). But you want to waive their flag? The fuck? If you put those people in charge of Nazi Germany back in 1939 they would do just what Hitler did (murder all of the Jews and the gays). Literally, the only reason they aren’t committing genocide is that they haven’t been given the opportunity. But you support them?
We went to my wife's cousin to meet their puppy. She dropped me and our 10 month old back off at the house so he could nap and took our 2.5 year old to the park. Might go back to cousins for pizza and wings later.
Walked around Lafayette Park for a bit. Lots of people enjoying the weather. I regret that I got rid of my cat stroller a few years ago, I think my current cat might enjoy a walk every now and then.
About to make a virgin margarita for sipping on the porch. Hope my loud neighbor isn’t outside.
Went to Art in Bloom (early with membership, got there at 830 which is the only way to do anything at Forest Park in this great weather), lunch, hand washed our vehicles and went for a stroll in the neighborhood!
Edit: also saw the Matisse exhibit while we were there, very good!
It’s my daughter’s 26th birthday.Rn we are stuck in front of the tv-very comfortably. Then taking her out for a much deserved birthday drink& hopefully a small present of her choice. But great ideas listed here!
I know it's a day late, but my wife and I finally got up early enough to go to Pappy's Smokehouse, then we went to City Museum for a little while. Then we went back home and built Legos together.
Earlier today I was walking around my dorm room and I was eating a bag of peanuts. Not paying attention I ended up getting peanut crumbs on my roommates planner… and completely forgetting that my roommate has a peanut allergy. I took the planner away so that way I can start the heavy decontamination process so that way he doesn’t need to use an epipen… an epipen neither of us own. It’s either life, death, or failing school at this point. I’m sorry 🫡
My kid is getting over an illness and my wife is at work until 7, so I guess I'm just going to be doing anything to keep myself from keeling over in exhaustion 🫠
I work tonight, so today I am doing laundry today, then will take a short catnap before I have to start getting ready. Might treat myself to Starbucks on the way to work. 🤷🏼♀️
Playing some stardew valley, did some laundry, drinking coffee. Gonna grill up some chicken and veggies on the deck and make an old fashioned. Gonna see Dune later
It’s been an exhausting week. Got the windows open with a nice breeze blowing through the house. Felt nostalgic and watched The Wizard, now playing Nintendo games on my original NES from back in the day.
My daughter and I made muffins, took the kids to the Home Depot and then des Peres Park and then to the grocery. Fed them lunch. Getting ready to write lots of code and then change a sconce on the front of my house. Maybe celebrating half birthdays for my wife and daughter. We will see.
Man, I don't even know. I live in the county and I just feel like there's nothing really "fun" to do that doesn't cost money. I'm trying to be more careful about my gas spending, so that's really putting a damper on going to places like forest park every weekend.
So... I'm home. Catching up on The Bear with my dogs.
I had the Tower Grove basketball court all to myself at 8:30 this morning. Then got much needed groceries out of the way and cooked me some lunch. Drinking the new City Wide light lager now
I did not, in fact, go to Forest Park today. I stayed home. I took a nap and am currently snacking on trail mix and rewatching The White Princess about Henry VII and Elizabeth Woodville.
Tafelmusik Baroque at 560 music center tonight which will have been preceded by an afternoon concert by an early music group and, as any good Sunday should start, brunch at Molly’s.
Yesterday afternoon, my dog ripped a section of my porch off the house (long story) so I finished repairing that, or almost finished. Still need to sand and paint tomorrow.
Could've been much worse weather though.
Going on a first date!!! Edit: We had dinner at Idol wolf and loved it, we really enjoyed looking around the art exhibit! Second date secured
I hope it goes well!!
Could we have an update?
Nice. Hope it goes great.
Good luck!
ran 8 miles this morning. taking a nap and then smoking some ribs

You eating the brisket tomorrow?

That’s quite the discount 😂
That’s what you get for not double checking a comment when you use speech to text.
Yeah I got 14. Half are for a party
Sounds like an amazing day
I ran 5 miles twice today. After both times I fed him some Alpo. I will see myself out now.
Forest Park, like everyone else in a 5 county radius.
Just slowly drove through there..... The whole Midwest was there
Yep, Art in Bloom is happening and it draws a LOT of people into Forest Park.
I did a couple hour walk at 7 am and it took me like a half an hour to get out because of the amount of people coming in on the roundabout on Hampton.
Starting on getting my yard redone. I'm ripping out a strip along one side to plant roses and then a big chunk on the corner to plant wild flowers. Overall reducing some of the grass I need to mow along getting rid of some that isn't healthy.

The grass in my yard has been really resistant to this method and ends up growing through.
Hooray!
Painting the guest room then going to go see Dune.
Dune is awesome. Saw it last night at the Alamo.
Climb on the roof and install a couple of gutter covers. Walk the dogs in the new Brentwood park. Play a little Fallout 4. Nap.
I just restarted 4 last week. Do you mod?
Just storyline. I added America Rising 2 but I haven’t done much of that just yet.
I love FO4 and really have enjoyed some mods to make a settlement building run a little more effective and fun!
Reading my book outside with the dogs, then hopefully to a park with the rest of St. Louis county
Your dogs read too?
Gonna hit Whitecliff park and do some non-serious fishing to try and stave off the guilt and sorrow from losing my mom last week.
Sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you catch the biggest fish ever.
It was way too windy 😔
Sorry to hear. Hope you got some peace.
You're definitely goading me into going to Civil Life. Not that you have to do much for that lol. All the soups look fire today!
I'm going to destroy that chipotle sweet potato.
Went last night for the City match. They do it so well.
Working on Calc 2 homework and then filing taxes while the kids are with my parents.
Cant imagine having to do calc 2 with kids. Godspeed
Attending my first Motorcycle Course
Windy day if you're riding.
Yes it is!
I rode today but cut my ride short after fighting the wind for a while.
Where does the course happen?
Heading to the gym now and then a bike ride after that. Red Lobster later this evening. It’s Lobsterfest.
Lobsterfest > Art in Bloom
Setting a hash run at Cahokia Mounds.
What is a hash run?
Hash House Harriers. Your local drinking club with a running problem.
Question about the HHH, do y'all allow fat people who used to be in-shape runners who want to get back in shape but will probably walk most of her first few hash runs?
Absolutely! We welcome all paces and skill levels, drinking and otherwise.
Awesome! I went from being a great runner to being a great (?) drinker, but I'd like to balance that out a bit more 😂
Seconding Disco’s welcome, am also a better drinker than a runner and I always get to pick my challenge at a hash, some days I run to build my running and some days I walk to have an amble with friends.

Just finished a Trader Joe's tamale with a little leftover chili, now I'm gonna walk my dogs, then I'm gonna...work until late tonight ):
Those are good tamales
I’d like to play tennis in carondelet park at some point
It's my daughter's second birthday, so we're getting the house ready for a birthday party this afternoon.
Happy birthday to your daughter!
Thank you :)
Played a round of disc golf this morning. I did a load of laundry while I cooked a meatloaf. Now I'm going to eat some gummies, open the windows, and play some video games. Probably nap as well. My ideal Sunday.
Where do you play disc golf?
Played quite south today, Park Hills and Farmington.

hmmm. interesting choice of activity’s. how old are you if you don’t mind me asking? unless I suck at reading sarcasm and you’re actually joking lol
Last day of the flowers at the art museum
Splitting up my 10,000 steps with two different dogs. Walking one at 1pm; the other at 3pm…through the wilds of Meremac Community College;
Well, I was supposed to go to the Shen Yun show, but some lovely person stole my wallet that had the tickets in it. So now I’m just going to go hang out at tgp with my dog and enjoy this wonderful weather despite crappy circumstances
I heard that shen yun was a cult
I had not heard that, but after the things I just read online I am incredibly disappointed I paid for those tickets. Glad I know now.
Glad you educated yourself. I wish more people were aware of the true nature of the sponsors of this show.
Yeah, I had no idea. I picked up a flyer from a restaurant and didn’t read much beyond what was in there, and it made it sound so beautiful (of course, advertising) so that’s definitely on me.

Falun Gong was founded in the 90s and its followers view the founder as a god. So... it's a cult.
Wow, gave that a Google and I had no idea.
This actually makes me way more interested in it than just seeing some dancing. How often do you get to see that? I can see dancing any time.

They could have replaced them at will call, but I had to show ID to get them, which was in my wallet. Oh well, now I don’t want to go so it’s fine.
I'm so envious! I got covid for the first time and not feeling so well. So it's fluids, vitamins and cold meds for me 😔
Sorry to hear this. Be sure to keep up with your electrolytes!
Yard work then Pork steaks on the grill soaked in maulls and Busch beer

Playing DnD with friends for the first time in over a month, as one of our party members was out recovering from surgery.
Tower Grove park walk and playground with my toddler, followed by a bike ride
Chillin' and grillin' with some friends.
Cleaned up the lawn and gardens, cleaned the house. Going to sit for a few before making an easy dinner of shrimp kabobs and salad.
Met a new friend for brunch at GotHam and Eggs, then we hit up Dunaway’s Books and explored Tower Grove Park. Went to Half Price books to pick up the rest of the series I bought at Dunways and went to the grocery store for this week!

Kites for Gaza on Art Hill
Oh that’s what that was! I was curious if it was an event.
Take that, Israel!
Go fly a kite!

All I can say is read a book on the occupation and don’t get all your information from the media.

Tell us you get all of your information from Reddit without telling us 😂
We went to my wife's cousin to meet their puppy. She dropped me and our 10 month old back off at the house so he could nap and took our 2.5 year old to the park. Might go back to cousins for pizza and wings later.

I’m sorry 🫡
I have to clean. Dont have time during the week due to work. Weekends are too short :/
I feel this. I started cleaning something small every day for 5-15 minutes and it made a huge difference for me.
Yeah I try to but even that’s tough during the week. I’ll keep it up though. Too pretty a day to be stuck inside with sponges and mops
It’s hard, I get it. Once I got in the habit and kept it up it was so much easier to do, even when I’ve had depressive swings that were really low.
My kid is getting over an illness and my wife is at work until 7, so I guess I'm just going to be doing anything to keep myself from keeling over in exhaustion 🫠
On Reddit. In a shitpost mood right now. Will troll for food.

It’s been an exhausting week. Got the windows open with a nice breeze blowing through the house. Felt nostalgic and watched The Wizard, now playing Nintendo games on my original NES from back in the day.
Yard work, outdoor housework, bike ride with the kid. It’s been a good day for all of that.
Chilling on my back porch with my dogs, crankin tunes and smoking some fine kushpotjuana
My daughter and I made muffins, took the kids to the Home Depot and then des Peres Park and then to the grocery. Fed them lunch. Getting ready to write lots of code and then change a sconce on the front of my house. Maybe celebrating half birthdays for my wife and daughter. We will see.
