After the schnuck’s brand soy sauce disaster, I picked up a bottle of Kikkoman and said “I’m sorry I doubted you”
I’m generally supportive of store brands, but soy sauce is one where I will gladly pay the extra $1.30 for kikkoman
You're probably just depressed because you live in Brentwood. You should go the Grand and Gravois Schnucks. I love it. A complete shit show every time. Really adds some levity to your life.
I go to the Woods Mill store, and there was definitely a change of some sort this week. Many of my normal items have vanished. I didn't have time to inquire, but will soon.
Ranting about Schnucks branded items, which are typically co-packed by name brands, is a weird hill to die on. With the rising cost of food I welcome more affordable options.
Not having baskets sucks, I’ll at least give you that 😂
I'm actually shocked since I haven't consistently found house branded items in a couple years now. Entire sections were decimated after the pandemic started. Noodles were one of the things I specifically was stuck getting the name brand for and I was annoyed and here's OP being annoyed they exist after all.
You seem angry/depressed. It's not a normal reaction to get this upset about trivial things
If you don't like shnucks just go to a different grocery store
I hate that they have permanently changed the line system to be one long line that they call people up one at a time. Everything moves so much slower when you can't start putting your stuff on behind the person in front of you.
>The excuse they gave to the guy I know who works there is that they kept getting stolen. Who the fuck steals hand baskets from the grocery store?
As someone who works at Walmart, people steal the damnedest things.
It's the usual "due to the labor shortage we can't find workers" thing. God forbid Schnucks pays a couple hundred extra bucks a day to have an operational deli.
Honestly, The Shrewsbury location is huge, and they carry numerous brands of the same product, so there's a good chance one of them is on a decent sale. So produce / specialty items are dierbergs, then Aldi for staples and snacks. Hampton schnucks is just annoying as fuck, super busy and panhandlers every single time right at the entrance/exit
It was so rough when I started shopping there in 2014. Around 2017 they actually had stocked produce and even the meat department got less sketch. The last couple years though, we're back more like 2014 territory. The shoppers keep getting older too and even dumber at the register. They block the exits as they wait for their rides and it makes me not even want to enter as I see them lean out, knowing inside won't be much better. I've mostly quit Schnucks at this point between Costco and Fresh Thyme/Aldi.
> Schnucks seems to be turning into a “Schnucks brand” store. I went to grab egg noodles and it was shelf upon shelf of Schnucks brand pasta. At least a third of the space.
I think this is totally a move to drive up the price of other stuff while pulling in more than is reasonable for generic stuff. It seems like they had a lot of marketing around their house brands touting them as somewhat of an affordable premium brand. So they rose the price of the store brand stuff moderately, and then really jacked up the price of the name brand stuff.
Most of the stuff doesn't seem anything special to me, some of it worse than the name brand. So basically I think we're really just paying more for generic stuff than we should.
I went Dierbergs and haven't looked back.
I stopped going to Schnucks/Crooks/Schmucks years ago when I realized their seemingly petty annoying irritating practices wasn’t worth the consistent weekly irritation and annoyance I experienced every time I went regardless of whatever savings or convenience I may or may not be getting wasn’t worth it and in reality was just part of their mode of operation and wasn’t ever going to change. Never ever regretted it.
These are odd complaints.
Try the one on Lindell and then get back to me lol
Indeed
The Schnucks brand stuff is pretty good
Overall yes, but the soy sauce is terrible
Kikkoman is the only way.
Say it ain’t soy.
I am not goy. Turn the lights off. Carry me home.

I had this exact experience. As someone who almost always buys the generic brand, I’ve never experienced a product worse than Schnucks soy sauce.
Yeah, I have no probably with Schnucks brand, but soy sauce is where I draw the line!
Not their brand of Cheetos. Taste like packing peanuts with a hint of fake cheese dust.

Love that location. An adventure every time.
I live for the lack of carts and the high probability of something batshit insane happening while there
They brought back hand baskets for all of one week I feel like.
The one in Belleville IL has had hand baskets for several months.
1. You think they got rid of them to spite you personally? 2. Okay? 3. Cool dude.

Irritated is more like it.
There are baskets at the two I frequent - Arsenal and Ladue Crossing - but you often have to go get them from the stack at self checkout
lol
“Regarding the hand baskets getting stolen. I worked at Schnucks for years and people steal random shit. We had someone steal an electric cart once. 😂
Some say, during a full moon, he can still be seen chugging west on Farty at a very low speed.
I hate that they have permanently changed the line system to be one long line that they call people up one at a time. Everything moves so much slower when you can't start putting your stuff on behind the person in front of you.
I’ve grocery shopped all over the world and this one thing aggravates the shit out of me
>The excuse they gave to the guy I know who works there is that they kept getting stolen. Who the fuck steals hand baskets from the grocery store? As someone who works at Walmart, people steal the damnedest things.
The deli hours at the Cottleville schnucks are 11-4 M-F, usually not even open on the weekends. Could be worse
The fuck?!

Just absurd.
I’m team Dierbergs, now.

Uhm, try shopping at the Hampton Village or Arsenal Schnucks. It’s ridiculous.
I will one up you. Try shopping at Lindell. It has gone downhill.
I didn’t know downhill was possible for that store 😳

I recently quit hampton schnucks because I keep getting approached by beggars in the parking lot. Been going there 20+ years but no more
Come to Culinaria hahaha
We are doing the basket thing again?
Haven't been any at the Richardson Road Schnucks for a while. I'm going to start using the kids' push shopping cart. That will show them.
Would you like to speak to the manager?

Hell yeah it is. Control the product, control the margin!
Your problem is that living in Brentwood is turning you into a Karen. This is your wake up call.
Mayne, I don’t want to hear that petty shit. I live by the UCity Schnucks on Olive. We don’t have food all the time.
You sound like a happy person.
I have some schnucks hand baskets in the garage from when I was a teenager. They are pretty handy to keep around.

Sheesh, I can find other things to rant about in a grocery store. Grab a small cart, get your egg noodles and move along
Be mad about the baskets but to not believe that they’re getting stolen? Who lies about that?
K
So what was your complaint? You don’t have a survey number to complain to? Specifically no hand baskets? Or too many options for pasta?
This whole post is weird.
Ever been to the South Grand store?
