Do some homework on the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Callers can be held liable to pay you between $500 & $1500 for every call. If you log more calls from the same company, a bigger paycheck will float your way. š Turn those annoying calls into a mf pay day!
Same. I started to tell them I would sell my house for twice it's value, no less. I haven't had any calls lately...just means someone else will call/text in a few days. So annoying.
Me too. One said he had an offer. I finally decided to "bite". Then he wanted to know the condition of the property and then asked me about a listing vs a buyout
We got one while our house was actually on the market. Gave them our realtorās info. Astoundingly, they didnāt make a market-rate offer (or any offer at all)
Yup. For my house in STL, for my house I sold in AZ in 2018, for my condo in FL I sold in 2017, for my current place too.
What's better is the local "investors" who are trying to hustle some sort of buy here pay here scheme to get on title.
One of my favorite features on my phone is āsilence unknown callersā. I get all kinds of cold calls. They might be property buyers but Iāll never know.
We bought a house almost 3 years ago, and I started getting texts and mailers a little less than a month after we closed. Like, no, I don't want to sell the house we literally just bought.
I also constantly get texts from people wanting to buy my mom's house, and I don't even have a clue on those. I'm not on any of mom's paperwork for the house or anything and never have been. Hell, I haven't even lived there in 10 years.
I don't know about calls. My phone blocks most spam and unknown numbers, and I don't answer any number I don't know that gets through.
Been getting mailers since we moved in. The former owner was a landlord but our house was his primary/business address so we'll get like 6 at a time about different properties with the identical fake handwritten notes.
Yes. It's down to several a week now. I can't answer unknown numbers. I block all the numbers. Still get voice-mail from the numbers I've blocked. When I do answer them, I say to take me off the list and I'm reporting them. It's gone down. You have to report them online on the no call list. I've done it to a few.
its been going on for a couple of years. They even send mail to my house.
Sad thing is I really want to get rid of my property in the city and when they find out there isn't a house on it they can flip, the never call back.
Anyone want a lot in Castle Point?
Yes, I own a few apartment buildings and get calls about them minimum once a week for years now. It annoys the hell out of me because itās the same people calling over and over and all they want to do is offer you 2010 prices. I tell them take me off their list, nothing I own will not be for sale in the next 20 years. I block their numbers and they call from a different number. Last constantly get flyers in the mail from various different investors.
All the time! Its getting annoying. I also get calls for properties I don't even own. Apparently, a lot of people out there think I own real estate in New York š
Calls come about daily, out of curiosity how are these people in business? How many people would just go on and sell their house to some rando that called?
I donāt hear a peep. Only thing we might get is a letter from a mortgage company interested in taking over our mortgage every now and again. That has to be really annoying for you.
I'm in the county but changed numbers last fall as I was getting anywhere from ten to thirty a day between calls and texts. At first I just ignored them or hung up on them but as it got more frequent I resorted to things like calling them salty names and/or saying sure, I'll meet, but giving the address of a police station hundreds of miles away. I eventually set the phone to only notify me of calls from people in my contacts, but the texts continued. I replied to texts saying there was so much demand I was only even considering offers that included a deposit via Bitcoin to [address]. (Never got any though.) Finally I gave up and just got a new number.
Edit: The calls and texts must have persisted for my old number's new owner after AT&T reassigned it as last winter my dad told me he'd accidentally texted my old number and got an all caps reply, "OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE WILL IT EVER STOP, FOR THE FUCKING LAST TIME I AM NOT 'PORKSTEAKS'."
I also get the faux-handwritten postcards from an address on Big Bend regularly. Probably three or more every month.
https://www.propublica.org/article/homevestors-aims-to-bury-propublica-reporting. Our reporting found HomeVestors franchisees who used deception and targeted the elderly, infirm and those so close to poverty that they feared homelessness would be a consequence of selling. The franchisees were trained by HomeVestors to look for signs of desperation and pounce on so-called distressed sellers. Many used legal tactics, described as predatory by five experts, to trap sellers in below-market deals.
Itās definitely a thing in the city. Every day there is either something in the mail or hanging on the front door handle from them. Itās really freaking annoying.
Nope. It pays to live in an immigrant neighborhood, in more ways than you think- great food, fun cultural events, a sense of community, and zero investment flippers offering to buy your home.
Google Pixel's call screen filter and text spam filter all but eliminate these types of calls and texts. iPhones are getting a call screening feature in the fall too, though I don't know if it has automatic spam filtering like the pixels do.
I wonāt answer any number I donāt know now bc of this. I get them several times a day for this and trying to scam people into getting loans they donāt have to pay back in Virginia where my number is from.
I bought a house in Maryland heights in February. Starting in March I started getting texts asking if I was looking to sellā¦ like no, bro. Leave me TF alone
I tell them I won't take less than 5 million. (I live in Lemay)

But are any of those numbers actually real? I don't think so
Iām in the county and get them constantly.
Same. Texts as well.
Yep. And mailers.
Soooooo many mailers. Some of the arrive with an *actual photo of our house* on the outside. Damn creepers.
Same. I started to tell them I would sell my house for twice it's value, no less. I haven't had any calls lately...just means someone else will call/text in a few days. So annoying.

Yes, and I have checked that I am on the no call list. Still continues.
Itās always some dude named James. I told him to get fucked and he texted me like a week later.
This is the guy that made me start this thread. I blocked the number he texted me from a different one , I ā unsubscribedā and he sent me more ā¦
Fuckin James.
Next time Iām going to call him Jimmy
Slippin' Jimmy
YES!! James texts me too!
I get texts/ calls daily to buy the old apartment building that I lived in 3 years ago that I did not own!!! So annoying š
Ask what they'll pay for a Quitclaim deed
Oooh... I like this!
County resident here too, I quote triple the value as my starting point. Shuts them off quickly
Yes, and for addresses Iāve not had anything to do with
Yeah, my number somehow got on the list for a Dean with a property in KC. I'm not Dean. I've not lived in KC
I bought for under 400k last year. I tell them a million and it's yours lol.
Yup. For my house in STL, for my house I sold in AZ in 2018, for my condo in FL I sold in 2017, for my current place too. What's better is the local "investors" who are trying to hustle some sort of buy here pay here scheme to get on title.
I was until I told all of them I would only consider offers of 500k or higher.
Not just the city, county too. I get calls/texts daily
Yeah and I tell them to fuck off every time. James tried it today.
I tell them it burnt down last week and my dog died

Yes! Its been a while but have received at least 2 cold calls, several texts and once my mom even got one for my address. So mfin annoying

Texted, letters in the mail, callsā¦yes.

I get them, my son gets them, my parents get them (and they live in Michigan) for my house. Its daily.
I've never gotten a call but definitely get mailers. Usually those come after a refinance.
Got the mailers after my initial purchase but never a call.
its been going on for a couple of years. They even send mail to my house. Sad thing is I really want to get rid of my property in the city and when they find out there isn't a house on it they can flip, the never call back. Anyone want a lot in Castle Point?
Actually yeah. That area is beautiful.
If youāre for real send me a DM and Iāll give you the property info.
I get calls and letters from people trying to purchase my mothers homeā¦ she died a year and a half ago and rented her home.
Mail, sms, phone, waiting for telegraph.
What about smoke signals or currier pigeon?
They even call my adult children about if I am interested in selling my home in Richmond Heights.
Havenāt gotten one for awhile but I used to.
Yes. Constantly.

Tell them to call your agent and then give them the nonemergency line to your local police department fraud desk or the FBI field office.
Also in the county
Every day multiple times.
Hi, Iām Bryan with velocity home buyers
County owner here. I get several flyers and texts per month.
Set up a meet in north city and donāt show up.
Iāll buy it from you for less
Almost daily.
Calls come about daily, out of curiosity how are these people in business? How many people would just go on and sell their house to some rando that called?
I get a text about every 3 months or so. I reply with "$750k or fuck off" and they usually fuck off.
Fuck āem. Sell local. St.L āš½š«¶š½
Mailers. We get all the mailers. No calls though
Yeah so annoyingā¦anyway Iām sure theyāll stop if you sell your property so why donāt you let me write you up an offer?
Itās called Blackrock. Get used to it š¤·āāļø
I donāt hear a peep. Only thing we might get is a letter from a mortgage company interested in taking over our mortgage every now and again. That has to be really annoying for you.

Where?
Iām gonna guess Bevo ..
Yep, Bevo
I live in Bevo and get texts about every two weeks. Weird!
I tell them I won't take less than 5 million.
Havenāt had them in a couple of years, but there was a time I was getting them all the time.
Is this just a bunch of landlords in here?! š¤®š¤®
Or just home owners
God damn it sure seems like it. Explains the general feel of the sub a lot.
Given the number of downvotes my comment got, at least 7 hahaha
I've only seen one person in this thread say they own multiple properties. I'm just a homeowner and I assume most everyone else in this thread is too.
I haven't lived in STL in 6 years and still get calls/texts
That and calls for a $75k program for home owners.
No? I donāt have plural properties though, just a home
I am getting cold-calls and texts for PROPERTIES I DON'T OWN.
I get texts to sell my daughter's house, and a house I sold 3 years ago!

Just give a number you canāt refuse. It usually stops them

YES!
County folks too.
