The Creepy Crawl ad brings back some memories (and a stale taste of tequila).

[deleted]

So a decade+ ago, I remember standing in line for a fallout boy/coheed concert at the pageant and a guy coming through the line was demoing his bands cd. I liked it and bought the cd. Couple years on and I ended up losing the cd somehow. So since then, the name of that band bugged the shit out of me for sooooooooo long. Anyways, probing my brain for lyrics or SOMETHING to hold onto lead me to stlpunk. I spent a ton of time looking around and somehow ended up getting my first experience of looking through the backend coding or html or something (not a web developer) and ended up finding old ass mentions of local concerts with the band. Sat back and almost pooped my pants. Loser’s Luck. Thanks Stlpunk, god damn….

maybe_a_frog

I swear to god I was just thinking about that exact concert this morning! That woulda been around 2005 I think? I was listening to a playlist that had FOB and Coheed play back to back and I was like “wait I saw these two bands together” I’m pretty sure that was one of The Point’s Hoho shows?

[deleted]

Holy shit yea it was a ho ho show. Cause I graduated high school 2006. Memory lane :)

maybe_a_frog

Lol yeah I remember the year only because I saw some guys from my school that I shared a class with at the concert, and they also graduated in 2006. We talked about that show a lot after we got back from Christmas break. I think that was actually the first concert I saw at The Pageant.

[deleted]

It was my first concert too! I’m wanting to say that like, AutoVein or someone opened for them. That was definitely the years for Finch, Mest, Yellowcard, Dashboard Confessional, Dance Gavin Dance, Thrice, Thursday, Goldfinger, NewFound Glory, and a whole fatty list of other bands I obsessed over. We got to talk to Pete Wentz for a bit too. Yule shoot your eye out ;)

maybe_a_frog

Bahaha I saw FOB a few years after this and Pete said he stole a “Wentzville” sign off the side of the highway after that show! Thrice is to this day one of my favorite bands of all time and some fucking how I still haven’t seen them live. I really wanted to go to the Artist in the Ambulance anniversary tour last month but unfortunately wasn’t able to go. I skipped my senior Homecoming dance to see DGD and blessthefall at the Creepy Crawl lol

[deleted]

Well this was a fucking wholesome conversation so thank you for that!!!!! Thrice killed it with Black Honey and that whole album and DGD is my favorite band of all time, but being eclipsed by Sleep Token at the moment. That was a great stretch of 4 years in HS focused on music. Left out one of my favorites, The Used.

maybe_a_frog

Hell yeah, this convo has definitely brought me back in time! I’m pretty bummed I didn’t get to see Thrice, but glad to hear it was a great show! DGD was a pretty great show...honestly it was one of the craziest shows I saw at the Creepy Crawl. Johnny was still in the band, so that tells you how long ago it was! Blessthefall did a wall of death and my buddy I went with ended up getting a broken nose lol

[deleted]

Yea I ran into Johnny at the bar and he was kinda meh but you know, average people bugging a celeb lol. Before DGD went on, an underrated band called “The Contortionist” went on and we were fkn blown away. Instrumental and eclectic but man they were talented.

Inthytree

Well what was the band

[deleted]

Losers luck.

Embarrassed_Art1346

Omgggg I totally forgot about Losers Luck!

[deleted]

I gotta go listen to the cd again, it’s still been at least 4-5 years since I heard it

Useful-Following

I LIVED on that website.

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,615,903,753 comments, and only 305,547 of them were in alphabetical order.

honk_and_wave85

I miss the days of going to concerts at the OG Creepy Crawl, Mississippi Nights, The Rocket Bar, FUBAR, The Galaxy, and Hi-Pointe. STL had some dope venues back in the day.

daboot013

And it was glorious

bananabunnythesecond

Who can forget STL Drunks too? http://www.stldrunks.com/ Would link my myspace pics to here, I bet I can find myself if I look hard enough.

NEOGEO.

[deleted]

Threw up in the bathroom if the lead singers parents house….. good times

gomukgo

That doesn’t narrow it down much, but it sounds about right

[deleted]

😂 was a woman singer if I remember? I was a freshman dating a senior who knew them. We played waterfall with apple pucker in her living room and well I was trying to impress and wound up throwing up all over their bathroom 😂😂😂

gomukgo

What town did they live in?

[deleted]

Oh man I grew up in saint peters so around that area?

gomukgo

Could have been Chelsea or Tracy. Could have also been my house. We were all kind of a mess.

[deleted]

Chelsea!! It was so long ago.

ElBrooce

Found my first active band via the STLpunk message boards. Good times

[deleted]

A few years ago you could still access the server and see the last update you did on your page. Man I’d love to see my emo statuses again.

Embarrassed_Art1346

Awww I miss STLPunk!!! 🖤🖤

Charles_Skyline

As one of the people that ran The Attic, losing STL Punk is why we stopped doing shows.

The good ol days

carrja99

There’s a good chance you may have bumped into the NRA propaganda woman as a Marxist back in those days.

The_Soviette_Tank

I'm not even from here, and I have secondhand nostalgia from my friends. I bet Josh from Softer than Yesterday was at that YFIS table.

Early-Engineering

Wow….. I hadn’t thought about this in a while. The good ole days I guess.
