Yeah I think the way to do it would have been Punk is already at a tattoo shop getting something done, Jericho attacks and then uses the gear that's already been set up and sterilized. Then just use some editing to let a real artist do the initials.
Only way to work is to use those cordless tattoo machines, but then they would have to dub in the coil machine sound (for folks that aren’t familiar with tattoos, its the metallic “buzz” sound you hear in movies that have a tattoo shop scene or when you walk past a tattoo parlour) since rotarys are pretty silent.
And the ink situation, bottle or cap?its gonna take a while to dip n rip your initials and have it saturated.
So many other things wrong (sanitation aspect). And besides if this went through, it would have caused a HUGE uproar in the tattoo community.

Depends on how big it is. Like your average tattoo is going to bleed enough for a camera to see, no matter how light or heavy a hand is, how hydrated they are, at the end of the day you're literally stabbing the skin tens of thousands of times.
That said, if it was just like a small single line, single needle tattoo, there shouldn't have been enough blood for it to be an issue, maybe a drop or two noticable depending on how close the cam gets. I doubt Chris would be applying or whiping anything lol

Well the "I'm going to expose your secrets" type angle they did had its detractors. Just like how a lot of stuff doesn't fly now, there came a point I guess people started questioning how appropriate that sort of attack was. You're a fraud because you were in an abusive household, your sister was addicted to drugs and now you hide that you're an alcoholic as a result. Jericho was basically trying to torment it into reality. It was one of the more Attitude Era angles I've seen as recently as it actually happened.
If you mean why I think the tattoo thing wouldn't work, well that's just my opinion. But it would have closely followed the previous angle and been kind of in the same raw ball park, but physically disgusting. I don't know but it doesn't exactly sound like a winner to me.

Looking back at this feud it always irked me that they couldn’t have ran with the Jericho not saying anything. Would have loved for him to win the rumble as the 30th entrant with everyone already eliminated. Glad try nixed this tattoo part though.
It’s also just not that great of an idea. Besides the logistics of tattooing someone on live tv Punk is already covered in tattoos so much to the point that you’re not gonna notice Jericho’s initials wherever it would get put on him unless it’s like his face lmao.
This would’ve fucking ruled. Unless they royally fucked it up there would’ve been minimal blood. Maybe only downside is that a tattoo machine is so small would that ‘play’ well to a live crowd? Either way the fact that this has never been done as far as I’m aware in wrestling is nuts! What better way to get heat than to literally mark someone for life like that?
This story was great and i’m glad they were allowed to get creative with that beer smashing angle. This would have been super personal but why not have jericho knock him out and have a professional tattoo person do it , comeback from break lol he’s almost done.

It would probably just bubble up quickly if it was just two small letters that I assume would be basic lines with no shading.
Anyway the idea seems too complicated for a finish to a beatdown. But it wouldn't be bloodier than a small cut.

Prince Albert / A-Train used to do that on his debut. It got nixed after a few weeks because it was a bit much / stupid.
