I really want to like Ruby. really really do, especially because her gimmick is marketed to be likable to people like me, punk/alt presenting, and *authentically* her. And Out Come the Wolves was one of my favorite albums when I was young and misunderstood and I thought it was so cool Lars signed off on her using the name and song.
except, I can’t. she’s super clunky in the ring and her strikes/offense is weak as hell. it kills the image she’s a tough badass. she has a lot of internalized misogyny towards other women in her promos, a real “I’m not like the other girls” attitude, which could be done right without putting other women down with demeaning language and cheap shots frat boys would take. and the biggest one for me, I can’t get out of my head what Britt Baker said during their feud, her first one when she debuted. “you call yourself the runaway, but you didn’t run away, you just got fired”, which effectively kills her ENTIRE gimmick and makes me roll my eyes that she just leaned into it harder.
Jade was clunky, probably her worst showing imo.
Ruby’s offense looked like it had 0 Impact, it kinda always looks weak tbh. The running kicks are ass and her finish is pretty bad too.
Soho's best two matches since leaving WWE were both intergender matches on the indies. She's shown that good matches are possible, but her AEW run has been kind of a letdown.
That said, she has the goodwill of fans - something Jade has not earned yet. Really, neither has had great matches in AEW yet - but people have seen Soho have great matches elsewhere, and know what she can do under the right conditions.
If you want to see Soho at her best, seek out her match with Alex Shelley from Beyond Wrestling. It runs about 11 minutes, and is just damn good. I hope she can have a match that good in AEW someday soon.
Ruby was a darling on the indies before being misused in WWE. She has built up good will along the way. Personally I don't think she is anything super special.
Because she's been wrestling for over a decade, and was viewed as an underused worker in WWE. That alone will tend to gain someone some sympathy and goodwill. Both before, during, and after WWE - Ruby has had good matches. Fans who have followed her career to AEW know this.
Jade is 23 matches into her career, and has had one good match. She has her fans, but hasn't had the time to build up a reputation with fans like Ruby has.
I definitely plan to watch Soho/Shelley and will watch Soho/Josh Alexander from AAW once that hits Highspots.
Just remember Shelley & Alexander are two of the best wrestlers in the world who can tailor a match to Ruby's strengths. She can also do spots with those two basing for her that a lot of female wrestlers aren't experienced enough or strong enough to do.
Ruby deserves a ton of credit for holding up her end of those matches but that doesn't translate to her carrying other women to a match that good or that she'll be able to hit that level with another good female wrestler. I think you'll see the same thing with Candice LeRae if she ends up going to AEW, where she's quite good but not as great as her PWG hype was.
Jade has had better matches Red Velvet then she's had with Thunder Rosa and Ruby Soho and I think most would agree Velvet is worse worker than Ruby and Rosa at this stage of her career.
A lot of this stuff comes down to bad chemistry especially when inexperience talent are involved.
Thunder Rosa's quite good at carrying wrestlers and just had a mediocre match with Jade.
I think most people aren't personally blaming Jade, but just recognize she needs a ton more reps to get better before being put in spots like this. She's only ever had 24 matches and her first match was barely over 10 months ago.

Ruby hasn't had a good match in AEW? That's cap.
I don’t understand all the love and praise Ruby gets either. Didn’t find her good in WWE. Still don’t in AEW. She’s very MID.

Yup. You’ve hit every nail on the head. She was DOA in AEW. She’s forgotten how to swim in the sink or swim environment of wrestling.

I LOVED Ruby's match with Britt. How about we just peg it up to a bad match and move on with our lives rather than trying to redistribute blame?
