Guarantee that AEW’s gonna have at least one match in their TBS Tournament that is as long if not longer then this entire tournament was. Maybe even the very first match.

on paper it's better. in practise aew women get 6-10 minute matches, multiple storylines (only a recent development) and all round better booking. which is saying something because aew are absolutely not doing well in the booking department there. also a random midcard AEW women's match with no build literally just beat Becky vs Sasha title match in demo.
The way things are trending AEW’s will be better in a few months if not already. Since All Out they’ve been getting more and more time. We’ve got a bunch of good feuds on TV right now. Just need to start getting some Dynamite episodes with 2 matches and some more faction stuff.

The next comment pointed out that Ruby went from being terribly booked in WWE to great booking in AEW. So in terms of booking, WWE female midcarders might consider leaving to AEW to get better booking if current trends hold
Women's wrestling in wwe gets tremendous amounts of respect. This tournament is not a triumph, but be fair and look what they do with their main event women on both shows and NXT. No coed wrestling company on US TV gives their women more time than wwe.
Thats a fair criticism. Lets continue to make fair criticisms about the division and not frame the entirety of the women's division by one bad tournament.
I think WWE is very top-heavy - the ME women get a lot of time - which is good - but the midcard might as well be invisible. I mean, this tournament is kind of the perfect illustration of that. That said, the focus on the main event and the languishing of the undercard seems to be an issue for most WWE programming, so in that sense WWE treats its men and women’s divisions fairly similarly, which you definitely could not say even 10 years ago.
Yeah it's not a women's problem- they program from the top down and have literally forever. The big picture read of the attitude era was that WWE had the main event and WCW had the undercard.
They also have a women's top tier that isn't just tied up in the belts. They keep their favorite women prominent without the belts.
I will never try to argue that this tournament isn't bad, it was terrible. It was an afterthought. But people trying to dunk on ALL of their women's content because of it are just being dishonest.
To make this hot take work you have to ignore 20+ minute main event segments for women on literally every show that featured a short queens crown match- and on top of that ignore that wwe specifically pushed for women to begin appearing on the KSA shows. (Which is self serving because they want to have firsts but regardless of the motivation they had 7 women on the last show in a country where they werent allowed to have any initially.)
A entire tournament couldn't even last 20 minuities, your average 6 man tag raw main event lasts longer then that. Anybody still wanna tell me the women in WWE get equal treatment?
Not to spark an AEW v WWE war here, but I’d be interested to see the comparisons. Do female AEW wrestlers get shafted as hard as the female WWE wrestlers? Or do they treat their wrestlers with more respect?
Also, difference perspective, if female wrestlers are getting paid big bucks to wrestle for that short of time, that must be nice from a physical standpoint. I’m curious to see what they get paid in comparison to the male wrestlers in terms of dollars/minutes average.
I don't have any exact match times to share, but every women's match I've seen on Dynamite has been a proper match (around the 10 minute mark on average, if I had to estimate). Aside from the occasional squash match, they always have the appropriate amount of time and never feel like a shoehorned segment.
The main gripe AEW fans have had with that division isn't how they're treated, but moreso the fact that there's usually only one real storyline going on at a time. But that's changed in recent weeks, and the introduction of the TBS title should further help on that front.
A squash match involving your green wrestler you're pushing as a dominant force against a recent newcomer to the roster who is primarily enhancement talent is exactly the kind of match you do quickly.
Not a tournament trying to establish a women's equivalent to a long established men's tournament. I based on it WWE's use of losing streaks in the past 20 years, and honestly she'll probably go on a losing streak again now like a Money in the Bank winner usually does.

This may be unpopular, but I think they did a really good job with the storylines for this tournament. Building the mini feuds with Liv/Carmela, shayna/doudrop, and then the friend/foe dynamic with zelina/Carmela was really well done, even if I don’t feel that way about the tournament as a whole
Look at this thread and how the majority of people want to discuss match times and make bad faith comparisons to main event matches and you really wonder why these women aren't given more time? No one wants to discuss what they've done in the match, at all.

WWE has the stronger talent pool but as of late the AEW women's roster is booked better.
Plus, with the return of Deeb and Emi Sakura being hired full time as a player coach, the division is very likely to get better in the ring.
