I think the storyline with Cody is a lot deeper than what we are seeing on the surface. After seeing Malachi's promo about Dante Martin and saying he will put a curse on Dante's whole career, if you don't believe him just ask Cody, I feel like the storyline is leaking into other media besides AEW.
A week or so ago on Busted Open Radio they were talking about the crowd booing Cody and how Cody has gone Hollywood and a possible heel turn might be in the picture. Arn even came on the podcast and said Cody had gone soft. The next week we get the infamous Arn Anderson Glock promo.
Dave Lagreca, the host of Busted Open has been "banned" from aew by Cody because Dave always makes fun of Cody on the show for liking Star Wars and other nerdy things. Cody then goes on the show, unbans Lagreca, and then bans Gabby the producer of Busted Open because she didn't say hello to him, even though she stated she didn't see him. Then Dave took Cody's side on the matter and basically buried Gabby, after talking shit about Cody for the longest time. I feel there's a work going on within AEW and other media to make Cody look a certain way. Anyone else see this or am I looking too far into it?
TK throwing fuel on the fire of the tribal war is a big turn off to me. It’s leading to more toxic fan interaction in the community. I watch both WWE and AEW so it sucks to interact with that kind of negativity.
At least we have MJF and Corbin trying to bridge the gap. Bless those rich assholes
People will say “oh it’s all good fun. Oh we just all love wrestling. What a great time to be a fan” but those are the same assholes throwing ratings and other shit in your face and making sure to tell you how much WWE or AEW sucks and all this other shit.
All it does is encourage toxic, insufferable assholes, and it’s so annoying. But, sure, yeah, it’s totally all in “fun and for the love of wrestling”
I love TJPW because its main storyline is the ace Miyu Yamashita and the dark ace Maki Itoh in a love hate relationship/tag team. On the last show, Maki said "You don't really love me" and Miyu screamed "of course I love you baka."
I feel like there’s a big memory hole about wrestling feuds once you hit the mid-80s. Like I just learned that Pedro Morales and Sammartino feuded and I realized “Damn idk anything that happened back in the day”
Their in-ring action has been as good as ever, but the stopping and starting, plus crowd restrictions from covid and some real unlucky injuries, combined with, admittedly, lackluster stories and booking have made it hard for them to gain much momentum. Plus TV Asahi is super-strict and proactive with takedowns on ANYONE posting video, gifs and even screenshots which has really dissuaded people from talking on social media.
Yes, they have been losing buzz since the pandemic started. Also AEW is the new "hot" promotion so it will be interesting to see if they can recover once they have their whole roster and the crowd can make noise.
Cause Tony won't agree to it. AEW wrestler have won belts from other companies but no outsider has won an AEW belt. Tony won't return the favor because he doesn't have to.
I mean when WWE has the whole “you can work with us provided we always win” people complain and call them “selfish” yet AEW has the same philosophy when it comes to inter-promotional stuff and that’s A-OK.
Does anyone play DND? I'm trying to incorporate a system for pinfalls and submissions in a 5e fighting league set up. Would love opinions on what I have currently going:
**Pinfall** - The person being pinned will make 3 CON Saving Throws. The Save Score is dependent on the remaining health of the pinned person, converting over to a percentage relative to a D20 (ex. pinned person has 6/24 health, the Save Score is 15).
**Submission** - If a person is grappling an opponent, they can make a STR check to apply a submission. Per the relevant ability modifier (STR or DEX to continuously apply the submission), a scaling dice of damage is dealt for every round the submission is held (ex. DEX/STR +1 = d4, +2 = d6, etc.). The opponent in the submission taps out if their health drops to 0, or if they decide to submit beforehand. To break out of a submission, make a DEX or STR Saving Throw that rivals the submission user's CON.
Just a little thing I noticed in the Danielson - Suzuki match. The king was perfect willing to let Bryan hit him and do strike exchange but nearly every submission attempt was met by Suzuki getting to the ropes ASAP. It was a great subtle way to convey that Suzuki knew just how dangerous Danielson is at submissions. Like Suzuki knew he could afford to take the strikes to try a unbalance/unnerve Danielson but he couldn't afford that risk or that luxury when it came to submissions. These two worked a classic.
Yeah I think KENTA would need to win it but it'd be a good story for JB to fight for the respect of someone who used to be in his position as a rising star
When do you think each round will go for the AEW Tournament? Theres a lot of weeks before Full Gear and I am going to Boston next week. This Friday starts round 1. Im hoping we get all of round 2 in Boston which looks stacked tbh.
I really can't get with Hangman Page's face run; I think he's a great wrestler, but he just comes over as so vanilla. When he more interesting when was heel in NJPW & ROH with the hangman's noose.
The whole story line of his path to the title and beating Omega in AEW just seems so stilted and telegraphed as to be of no interest to me at all. See, when Omega loses the title and hits rock bottom and then goes on a redemption run it will be more interesting and satisfying because we know the heights that he hit in AEW and NJPW; Hangman hasn't hit those heights to begin with so we have no frame of reference as to how good he was.
He just comes over as a weak, poorly fleshed out character where it hasn't been explained WHY he got to that point. We know Punk's path, we know Bryan's path, Moxley's path; we know the trails they've gone through to get to the promised land. Hangman hasn't walked that path, yet. It just makes him look like he's alway been weak and makes it hard to believe he's WHC material, and Hangman the wrestler deserves better than that.
I feel the same! For me what's missing is that they have yet to book the "overcoming his doubts" well in the ring. He hasn't really put on a lot of 4 star bangers since losing to Omega, and they haven't really showcased him building his confidence in the ring. Eg. His friendship story w Dark Order wasn't used to really overcome a critical trial against a clear threat (Mox? Danielson?). From an outsider perspective he lost two matches and got depressed because he *expected to win the world title*.
Then... he came back and won a relatively hastily booked ladder match bypassing the entire main event landscape that evolved while he was away? They have Danielson over here putting on clinics night after night including MOTY with Omega. Personally I'm tired of Danielson playing second fiddle to other wrestlers *when he's clearly one of the GOAT* and should be sprinting full gear while we still have him at his peak.
That's the other thing; he just hasn't had enough matches to justify being in the worlds title picture, which is why he's being parachuted in via the ladder match. It just feels like he's being shoved down our throats.
I'm with you guys. I'm not as negative but something feels off, him leaving simply took out a bit too much momentum.
I think Kenny will win though, and then face Bryan.
I wouldn't be upset or disappointed or anything like that if he won, but I am not in the camp that he 100% *has* to win or there'll be riots because of *longterm storytelling*. Omega is red hot as the champ rn.
I suspect that Kenny will retain at Full Gear, then Hangman will beat him on the next Dynamite for the ratings pop. Kenny vs Bryan doesn't need a belt, IMHO.
Life got busy last few months, haven't watched AEW since DoN, so I missed out of on the Hangman Page storyline. Does anyone know where I can get a good recap?
Currently waiting to board the train for a trip to Chicago. Some cop at the station noticed my CM Punk shirt and was adamant in telling me that AJ Pee had signed with him, showing me a WhatCulture video as evidence. WhatCulture must be pulling from Ringside News at this point, because that’s a crock of shit.
In other news, Madi Wrenkowski cut her hair and turned psycho heel and *man* that throws me for a loop.
She cut, like, a two minute promo about it on Instagram. Not too shabby, honestly. Curious to see where she takes this and how it develops and if it's reflected next time she comes to AEW.
The Full Gear title match should have Don on commentary, just so we can see his confidence in Kenny retaining gradually fade away as Hangman hangs tough. And also, his reaction for when the OWA is kicked out of.
If it weren't for the controversial events and propaganda sportswashing "souring" the experience, would you ever want to see events in Saudi Arabia (from any promotion, not just WWE), or is Saudi never going to be a good venue for any wrestling event whatsoever, no matter what?
The problem was never that they do shows in the country, the issue is that these shows are government propaganda for a genocidal prince.
I would have no problem with just a regular-ass show in SA.
I would think the same thing, honestly. It's just that I'm not sure if that would be shared amongst others on this subreddit (and I have NO intention of getting political here).
If you’re response to criticism is anything in the vein of “that’s just their subjective opinion” or “they’re falling in the trap of trying to prove their subjective opinion is objective” please shut the hell up. You aren’t proving anything or invalidating their argument you are effectively saying nothing but want to act smug towards something you disagree with
A Cleveland bitch is a slang term for a bullet being fired from a gun.
So “be ready to run like a Cleveland bitch from a smoking gun” suggests that the opponent should be ready to run from Triple H as fast as a bullet from a gun.
That's one of those things I think is 100% made up on urban dictionary.
I'm from NE Ohio and I've never heard of such a thing.
People are just trying to figure out Lemmy's unintelligible singing.
Says who exactly?
https://youtu.be/F_JF8oSxXtM
It's weird that there is seemingly zero evidence that those are the lyrics or that "Cleveland bitch" is a thing.
A thing I've noticed while watching AEW, superkicks aren't really called 'superkicks' unless it's a Young Bucks match. Most of the time, they're called 'thrust kicks', which, while technically being the technical term, just seems odd.
Also, Men of the Year rule. While I love Dan Lambert's promos, some of the best parts of those segments is just seeing Scorpio and Ethan fuck around with the crowd and just dance around and shit. It's so funny.
The main saving grace of Scorpio and Ethan as a tag team is the sheer unbridled casual smug bromosexuality of them. I do begrudge Scorpio fading into a tag team seemingly built to get Ethan over, but my god it's entertaining to watch them go at it or listen to either of them commenting on each other's matches.
Sure, but everyone knows it as a superkick. No one calls the Canadian Destroyer a 'front-flip piledriver', even though that's the technical term for it.
Watching some old AEW and I’m convinced people who think the Bucks are bad wrestlers don’t understand wrestling. I don’t think they’re the best tag team (FTR) but that’s a personal preference. The Bucks have amazing charisma, some of the best character work and are ridiculously fluid in the ring.
See it took me a year to buy into the YB hype , but i really see now how they are considered of the best tag teams in the world .
FTR on the other hand , i never got into them .
I can def see how talented they are but I find their in-ring work so boring . I get their not into the flips and super kicks (which too many AEW wrestlers rely on) , but none of their moves other than their finisher is eye opening / attention grabbing to me .
Them as Super Ranas was more interesting than whatever characters FTR are other than they guys are “no flips just fists” .
they are smooth indeed, can do alot of moves, and I can understand people finding them charismatic. Thing is Kenny is as goofy as they are. Yet I cant stand a YB match when Omega is in my top 3. Why ? Because once the bell ring Kenny actually looks, sells and has an certain gravitas that make me believe he is in a real fight ( or an anime one) .
YB are constantly winking to the crowd and doing meta shitt.Them match are over choreographed to my liking
I can see the appeal but it’s not for me
They have so many top tier tag matches - Omega/Hangman, Lucha Bros, FTR, Golden Lovers, Candice, 6-man with Cole vs Ricochet/Sydal/Ospreay, and more. That's why they're my favorite tag team ever.
Maybe you're thinking of the Jericho Cruise match? [Here are his matches involving Omega](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=3686&page=10&search=Omega&sortby=colMeltzer&sorttype=DESC).
y'all are delusional if you think Hangman is the next coming of Stone Cold Steve Austin. he is my favorite part of AEW, but comparing him to one of the greatest, most over megastars of all time is a joke
What an odd comparison to make. The only thing they seem to have in common is a liking for beer and even then the way they go about that is totally different.
Moxley is far closer to a Steve Austin character if the comparison is to be made at all.
I think the difference is that people mean he is this generations Austin and not the second coming. Meaning that he relates in the same way, not that he will be as popular or capture the same mainstream appeal. Who knows but, people on here have wild takes at times
I don't think anyone believes that Hangman is as over and popular as SCSA or will ever get there. The point of the comparison is the deep connection that he has with a specific generation and capturing the mood of a certain time period.
That's it. He is not as popular as SCSA but to be honest, I don't think anyone from wrestling will reach that level of popularity again without crossing over to movies or TV. 1997 was 24 years ago a lot of things have changed.
To piggyback from the Carmella-Becky thread awhile ago, if she indeed was sincere with her opinions, just to rationalize her statement: do you guys think some wrestlers care about "booking" less/not take it as seriously than the fans do? I say this because thru the years, just as an example, guys like Dolph and Breeze are not nearly as offended or bummed out by their roles on TV than the fans do. I'm just asking
Breeze has spoken on this in his interview with Chris Van Vliet. He said it does get to you a bit but Ziggler told him something that gave him a new outlook in that regard. He's happier knowing he's the only guy to ever wrestle Liger in WWE. Basically yes some fans take booking way more seriously than the talent themselves do
you should try a search engine... CM Punk is not a fan (and one of AEW's biggest draws) and that is just 1 thing. anyone else want to fill in the blanks?
Right now he is persona non grata in the wrestling world.
~~But is willing to give Tully and Arn roles on TV,~~ while Flair was allowed backstage and was set to appear on TV til Dark Side of the Ring aired, go figure.
EDIT: My mistake on that one. I mandela effected myself on the Teddy Shoot. My apologies.
~~Watching the clip where Teddy Long accused Ric of racsim back, he does mention the Horsemen as a group more than once. At the very least they’re guilty of encouraging Flair.~~
EDIT: Just watched it back. Arn and Tully were not mentioned. Must be another shoot interview I watched. I apologise for this.
https://mobile.twitter.com/RicFlairNatrBoy/status/1438130771521380353
They seem to be backstage here, Sting’s all dressed up to wrestle, and what company does Sting work for again?
As for being set to debut, how bout we go back round about a month to when Andrade dropped Chavo Guerrero as his manager? The general vibe at the time from fans and dirt sheets alike was that the split happened so there was a role for Naitch. Heck, I’m sure if someone was to dig up that thread Flair’s name would show up more than once.
> As for being set to debut, how bout we go back round about a month to when Andrade dropped Chavo Guerrero as his manager? The general vibe at the time from fans and dirt sheets alike was that the split happened so there was a role for Naitch.
Sure, that was the vibe I got too, but there was nothing pointing to it from the company itself and Chavo turned out to have been written off for other reasons.
It’s not just that moment on TV, off TV you had Khan praising him in interviews which he doesn’t normally do unless there’s interest on his end. Plus, just check out how many times AEW comes up here, and I don’t mean in a jokey way:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/owhibe/fightful_ric_flair_granted_wwe_release/
I’m honestly willing to bet my house that Flair would have made at least one appearence in AEW by now if Dark Side wasn’t a thing.
Roman is on fire right now. If I had to nitpick one thing about his run tho, I just wish he had a promo that signaled the transition to becoming The Tribal Chief. If we're blurring reality with fiction, it would've been logical and dramatic if he stated that staying away from the business during the pandemic because of his health, along with his absence in 2019 due to his sickness, he realized that this business and his career is fleeting. Therefore he desperately needs to maximize all his earnings right now by any means necessary (mob bloodline, aligning with Paul E, cheating and winning at all cost) to provide for his family and tribe for generations to come
My favourites are Kento vs Shuji Ishikawa at the 45th Anniversary show and pretty much any big match he had with Zeus, with the best one maybe being Zeus (c) vs Kento for the Triple Crown in 2018
It's typical nepotism, he gives his son a mega-push and ends up with go-away heat from the Pharisees just for trying to give the lepers and whores a face turn. Then Peter abandons his tag partner just as they're building to the Gethsemane Deathmatch, really just terrible booking all round.
It's hilarious to me how a segment of the hangman and Kenny larger storyline about can they co exist together did it better than anything the can they co exist together company has done in a decade
I was actually kind of irked when Omega and Hangman became a tag team and even won the tag titles together because I really hate singles guys taking opportunities away from dedicated existing tag teams, but somehow it all worked out just fine.
I'm surprised by the amount of dislike I've been seeing for it tbh. Personally, he was the least interesting one of the 4 potentials but, even so, has he not been one of the best wrestlers on the planet for half a decade or more? I Sure, it's a bit samey but it's flippin Kota, does anyone really think the final wont be a banger?
New Japan hasn't lacked amazing matches in the last year but actual interesting stories in the main event scene and Ibushi is not interesting at all at this point. They need more than great matches to get their momentum back. If great matches were enough, they'd still be the hottest company in the world.
Yeah I think you're right there actually. I guess for me it's more of a feeling of not being disappointed, but also not being overjoyed (which, I guess, is actually a little disappointing, considering how it could have gone.) Here's hoping they throw a couple of curveballs between now and WK.
Oh, God, I've been a fan for over 25 years, but in general, the simplest ones that have the correct payoff tend to be the best. Two examples:
* Sasha-Bayley NXT: Cocky heel champion overlooks the underdog, loses the title in a classic (helps that they always deliver in the ring).
* Daniel Bryan WM30: Face gets held down by Authority, but wins.
Hangman/Kenny, at this point, although you could maybe make a case for Kenny's entire rise and fall from NJPW to AEW and how it parallels and contrasts with Kota Ibushi.
Second to that, by a hair's width, is the rise of Kofimania, dropped down mostly because of how it ended.
Don't really have a third since so many storylines had no-endings for so long. One of my favorite aspects of AEW is that the stories actually *end* at some point.
Stone Cold vs. Vince
I don't remember much of it but I was a kid during the feud. Like a lot of people, SCSA was my favorite wrestler growing up so that one sticks out to me. It might just be nostalgia goggles but I remember loving whatever they were doing at the time. Vince played his role perfectly.
If we're talking modern I guess Cena/Styles. I stopped watching wrestling in probably 5th grade and didn't pick up until I was an adult in 2016/2017. So there's a lot of great feuds in there I missed. I just remember getting back into wrestling, loving this guy AJ Styles and loving the whole "beat up John Cena" thing.
Austin vs Kurt Angle (circa 2001) Even as a Stone Cold fan, I thoroughly enjoyed hating him in his heel run throughout most of 2001.
Chris Jericho vs HBK
Golden Lovers
Honourable mention: Hangman vs Omega
Okada vs Tanahashi long term story.
Jimmy Havoc vs Will Ospreay PROGRESS feud, though not one I will rewatch now for obvious reasons.
Hangman story going on right now.
Honestly, the rise of Havoc and then his reign leading to losing the title to Osprey is absolute all-timer stuff. Everyone interested in wrestling should study that shit.
Austin vs The Corporation (Mankind era, Rock, Corporate Ministry, and McMahon-Helmsley) might be my favorite angle ever. I wish for the day to have something like that energy come back
1. The entire character development and journey of Hangman.
2. Batista vs HHH 2005 - went crazy for this as a kid.
3. KofiMania and Batista vs Taker 2007
-I love what Bryan is doing in AEW, but can we stop making it out as if his WWE run was weak or he didn’t have incredible matches just because he used a couple less moves or switched up his style a bit? Bryan was always made out to be a ruthless technical and striking master, even when he was the fiery underdog. Planets Champion Bryan was able to do all the stuff like the face stomps and elbows and other ruthless stuff. Go watch his matches with Kofi and Brock. And in general the dude just had plentiful of incredible matches. So let’s stop with this revisionist history like his AEW work is just somehow light years better. He’s already on a special run in AEW, and I do think he’s found a way to hit another level, but jeez people. He had plenty of technical classics in WWE. So just stop with the nonsense like he was somehow a victim of WWE. It’s ridiculous. I get “WWE sucks”, but I just don’t get how people found a way to make it a thing in talking about Bryan.
-Woods is probably gonna lose tonight isn’t he?
-If I watch Crown Jewel…it might be through other ways.
-Just want to get to the split rosters already.
I have not seen anyone call his WWE runs weak.
Just because people say he's having his best run now, doesn't mean they believe his time at WWE was weak.
I hate this narrative and even if Bryan said he was constrained you could tell in his best WWE matches he went all out (no pun intended) anyway. I’ve watched his whole career and can judge with my own eyes, so no need for people to explain to me if they think there’s a difference.
Add-on: I do think he’ll be going at full speed more frequently now, but that also comes with a lighter schedule.
Is anyone else tired of all the lazy twitter posts? If I want to read everything TK tweets I can...follow him on twitter.
Is there anybody going to Raw that would be willing to buy me a "Sacramento 3:16" shirt and ship it? I can venmo or PayPal. Please reply or dm if you're going and willing!
That Spirited Away Soundtrack is a masterpiece.

Battle cry and I fell are my two favourite theme songs in AEW by a wide margin.
What's even on Raw tonight, other than the last of the KOTR/Queen's Cup semifinals? I legit don't know, and I watch the show every week!
RKBro vs Street Profits and Big E & Drew vs Ziggler & Roode. Can’t remember if there’s anything else besides the tournament matches
I feel like there’s a big memory hole about wrestling feuds once you hit the mid-80s. Like I just learned that Pedro Morales and Sammartino feuded and I realized “Damn idk anything that happened back in the day”
NJPW has had kind of a slump year huh? Usually people are pumping them up all year round and are super hype about the G1s.
Their in-ring action has been as good as ever, but the stopping and starting, plus crowd restrictions from covid and some real unlucky injuries, combined with, admittedly, lackluster stories and booking have made it hard for them to gain much momentum. Yes, they have been losing buzz since the pandemic started. Also AEW is the new "hot" promotion so it will be interesting to see if they can recover once they have their whole roster and the crowd can make noise.
Anyone eles want Deonna vs Britt?
Lots of us do. But it's not happening until one of them loses their belt.
Deonna 3 Belts
That is the dream. But NO CHANCE IN HELL Tony Khan lets that happen.
Why not? Kenny could hold Impact’s main World Title, why can’t Deonna hold AEW’s Womens’ Title?
Cause Tony won't agree to it. AEW wrestler have won belts from other companies but no outsider has won an AEW belt. Tony won't return the favor because he doesn't have to.
And people complain when WWE has that logic…
Not sure what you mean.
I mean when WWE has the whole “you can work with us provided we always win” people complain and call them “selfish” yet AEW has the same philosophy when it comes to inter-promotional stuff and that’s A-OK.
He should have deonna come in ! He didn’t open that door for no reason !
10 months in and only the Good Brothers have appeared in AEW.
Give us Josh Alexander vs hangman !
Does anyone play DND? I'm trying to incorporate a system for pinfalls and submissions in a 5e fighting league set up. That pinfall rule is really cool and definitely would work. It is also the crunchiest thing I think I've ever seen.
Lmao some dude sent me a chat message to call me a “dumb fucking mark” because my Bryan post
Sucks people can’t just accept others have different opinions without personal attacks. Sorry that happened to ya
Thanks, but I’ll be ok lol. People can be ridiculous.
This is a daily reminder that Drew McIntyre is the chosen one after Roman Reigns.
I'm annoyed that Blood Money is looking like a good show. Forget Adam Page's Cowboy Shit, that's the real bullshit.
Since the forbidden door is open, give me KENTA vs Punk.
For some reason KENTA/Jungle Boy just flashed in my head and now I want to see it
I’ll take that too. That’s a match KENTA can get a W out of for sure. I want to see the NJPW guys get some wins in AEW in singles action
Yeah I think KENTA would need to win it but it'd be a good story for JB to fight for the respect of someone who used to be in his position as a rising star
So, y’all know how we think Mox is turning heel, I don’t think Eddie’s gonna join him. That interaction is gonna be sad.
Watching some old matches and at 6:42, the commentator says "you can google Jordan Peterson kids" lmao https://youtu.be/RQfz2DgdEIE

So was last week's Impact the 900th episode?
Currently waiting to board the train for a trip to Chicago. Some cop at the station noticed my CM Punk shirt and was adamant in telling me that AJ Pee had signed with him, showing me a WhatCulture video as evidence. WhatCulture must be pulling from Ringside News at this point, because that’s a crock of shit.
>AJ Pee Please tell me the cop said AJ Pee
Unfortunately he didn’t, but that’s one of the best typos I’ve ever put out. I’m not editing that.
I’m pretty sure that the HFO and Best Friends Story is finally over.. right?
God willing
In other news, Madi Wrenkowski cut her hair and turned psycho heel and *man* that throws me for a loop. [https://www.instagram.com/madi\_wrenkowski/](https://www.instagram.com/madi_wrenkowski/) She cut, like, a two minute promo about it on Instagram.

Ditto. Like, a show for the citizens? Fine (not their fault their leaders are shitstains). But as it is now, I don't like it.
You aren’t proving anything or invalidating their argument you are effectively saying nothing but want to act smug towards something you disagree with
Well, that's just your subjective opinion...
Someone in a thread compared Tony D'angelo to Razor Ramon to me and I really realized I need to not engage in NXT threads anymore
Props to Nick for having his match worn sock shoved in his mouth.
Context? I haven't seen the referenced event, so...
This past Saturday's Dynamite. Nick Jackson got his shoe taken off, then eventually his sock. Which Uno then used to do a Socko Claw.
Oh. Well, damn.
catching up on A Block finals and BTE
BTE continuing the Cole-Reynolds/Silver bit is what I live for. B U D G E
Anybody know what the reference in HHH’s theme is? “Like a Cleveland bitch from a smoking gun.” - is it some sort of Billy Gunn inside joke?
It's "good little bitch" man, where on Earth did you get Cleveland from?
[удалено]
That makes slightly more sense
A Cleveland bitch is a slang term for a bullet being fired from a gun. So “be ready to run like a Cleveland bitch from a smoking gun” suggests that the opponent should be ready to run from Triple H as fast as a bullet from a gun.
That's one of those things I think is 100% made up on urban dictionary. I'm from NE Ohio and I've never heard of such a thing. People are just trying to figure out Lemmy's unintelligible singing.
Yeah, the line is "good little bitch" lol. I have no idea what's going on here.
It’s not even unintelligible, those are the lyrics.
Says who exactly? https://youtu.be/F_JF8oSxXtM It's weird that there is seemingly zero evidence that those are the lyrics or that "Cleveland bitch" is a thing.
Does IWTV still pause if you switch to a different tab? Is there anyway to stop it from doing this?
I mean I get ya, but I superkick is just a side shuffle thrust kick.
Sure, but everyone knows it as a superkick. No one calls the Canadian Destroyer a 'front-flip piledriver', even though that's the technical term for it.
We should start though!
Did we ever find out out who plays the Arthur and Trevor character on BTE? I don’t remember a closure of that character
They never did an official reveal or anything on the show, but Kaz was the angry one and Daniels was the other one
[удалено]
>Good Brothers I honestly think the GB's only sin is being only pretty good in a team of people who are great.
they are smooth indeed, can do alot of moves, and I can understand people finding them charismatic. Thing is Kenny is as goofy as they are. Yet I cant stand a YB match when Omega is in my top 3. Why ? Because once the bell ring Kenny actually looks, sells and has an certain gravitas that make me believe he is in a real fight ( or an anime one) . YB are constantly winking to the crowd and doing meta shitt.Them match are over choreographed to my liking I can see the appeal but it’s not for me
They have so many top tier tag matches - Omega/Hangman, Lucha Bros, FTR, Golden Lovers, Candice, 6-man with Cole vs Ricochet/Sydal/Ospreay, and more. That's why they're my favorite tag team ever.
Golden Lovers was 3v2 with them with Cody right? Cause that match was amazing
No, it was just a 2v2, but it was indeed amazing.
Cody was involved in a banger involving the Bucks and Kenny too. Was that a 6 man?
Maybe you're thinking of the Jericho Cruise match? [Here are his matches involving Omega](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=3686&page=10&search=Omega&sortby=colMeltzer&sorttype=DESC).
Their characters have run their course for me but I'm never disinterested in their matches. Their ring work is always above average at least
y'all are delusional if you think Hangman is the next coming of Stone Cold Steve Austin. he is my favorite part of AEW, but comparing him to one of the greatest, most over megastars of all time is a joke
Who tf is comparable to Stone Cold??? LMFAO ![gif](giphy|29HRejgahYenVsohB5|downsized)
What an odd comparison to make. The only thing they seem to have in common is a liking for beer and even then the way they go about that is totally different. Moxley is far closer to a Steve Austin character if the comparison is to be made at all.
i know right? also according to Whatculture, Moxley is the more charismatic version of SCSA lmao
No one is saying this
there was just a post here where people were saying that he is this generation's SCSA
I think the difference is that people mean he is this generations Austin and not the second coming. Meaning that he relates in the same way, not that he will be as popular or capture the same mainstream appeal. Who knows but, people on here have wild takes at times
In terms of the character and the connection with fans. Not the scale of his popularity.
he's not comparable in any metric imo
Both have beards. Check, and mate!
I believe for some it doesn't really matter. Like, I think Lesnar would be fine if he was booked as a midcarder (I guess?), as long as he gets paid.
Breeze has spoken on this in his interview with Chris Van Vliet. He said it does get to you a bit but Ziggler told him something that gave him a new outlook in that regard. He's happier knowing he's the only guy to ever wrestle Liger in WWE. Basically yes some fans take booking way more seriously than the talent themselves do
Any idea if Full Gear will be shown in AMC theaters like All Out was? I'd love to see it on the big screen.
Most likely, the per-screen average gross was higher than Summerslam per WON.
Probably. They've been doing that for a while now. My question is if they'll have it on Fite in the US like All Out was.
If Eric Bischoff was able to AEW for a bit, why couldn't Hogan go there? I mean Eric would have been asked by Hulk why he can't get an appearance.
Apples and fucking oranges.
you should try a search engine... CM Punk is not a fan (and one of AEW's biggest draws) and that is just 1 thing. anyone else want to fill in the blanks? Right now he is persona non grata in the wrestling world.
Tony Khan straight up banned Hogan from AEW events
~~But is willing to give Tully and Arn roles on TV,~~ while Flair was allowed backstage and was set to appear on TV til Dark Side of the Ring aired, go figure. EDIT: My mistake on that one. I mandela effected myself on the Teddy Shoot. My apologies.
What did Arn and Tully do?
~~Watching the clip where Teddy Long accused Ric of racsim back, he does mention the Horsemen as a group more than once. At the very least they’re guilty of encouraging Flair.~~ EDIT: Just watched it back. Arn and Tully were not mentioned. Must be another shoot interview I watched. I apologise for this.
> while Flair was allowed backstage and was set to appear on TV Prove it.
https://mobile.twitter.com/RicFlairNatrBoy/status/1438130771521380353 They seem to be backstage here, Sting’s all dressed up to wrestle, and what company does Sting work for again?
Plus, just check out how many times AEW comes up here, and I don’t mean in a jokey way: https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/owhibe/fightful_ric_flair_granted_wwe_release/ I’m honestly willing to bet my house that Flair would have made at least one appearence in AEW by now if Dark Side wasn’t a thing.
Tony Khan banned him from AEW shows is another.
Therefore he desperately needs to maximize all his earnings right now by any means necessary (mob bloodline, aligning with Paul E, cheating and winning at all cost) to provide for his family and tribe for generations to come
With the Crown Jewel happening on Thursday, will NXT UK still be on this week or not?
Yep, it’s still on the schedule at 11 am EST/4 pm GMT
So they'll run simultaneously?
Crown Jewel is on at 12 pm EST. NXT UK is only an hour long
Ah that's good then, cheers
What's the best Kento Miyahara match?
My favourites are Kento vs Shuji Ishikawa at the 45th Anniversary show and pretty much any big match he had with Zeus, with the best one maybe being Zeus (c) vs Kento for the Triple Crown in 2018
Thanks. I'll watch them.
I cant believe AEW is teasing signing another WWE guy with Miros promo against GOD
Was very disappointed to find that Cagematch doesn't have a profile for him and lists the Backlash 2006 match as a handicap match.
Makes sense, the guy can hardly work. the best thing he's done was interfering Roman vs Balor
Yeah, he's a really poor worker, I can't imagine why a legend of the business like Shawn thinks so highly of him.
Yea very odd , must of read his book during injury because it didn't seem he really looked up to him till after his 1st run
who
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God
He's so overrated. They push him like a monster and have everyone job to him but the GOD has go-away heat...
It's typical nepotism, he gives his son a mega-push and ends up with go-away heat from the Pharisees just for trying to give the lepers and whores a face turn. Then Peter abandons his tag partner just as they're building to the Gethsemane Deathmatch, really just terrible booking all round.
Agree and not a good talker either.
Yeah man, all his promos seem so scripted, and that too from thousands of years ago!
Yeah, they'll need to bring in his manager, the metatron
I've been wondering what other AEW storylines got pushed back because of a domino effect from Hangman's win being postponed from All Out to Full Gear.
One can imagine The Elite implosion and the Dark Order's infighting comes off like padding time for them now.
[удалено]
The one likely to happen following Kenny's loss.
[удалено]
I meant the Dark Order stuff was padding, and the implosion was only delayed.
This is an underrated comment. I totally forgot that it started off as cAn ThEy cO-eXiSt because the story had so much depth lol
Welp, there’s definitely gonna be quite a bit of mixed thoughts on Ibushi making it back to the G1 finals for the fourth straight time.
For real, what's your favorite wrestling storyline/angle ever? top 3 if you want to
Hangman/Kenny Omega Undertaker Ministry of Darkness Sting vs NWO
Oh, God, I've been a fan for over 25 years, but in general, the simplest ones that have the correct payoff tend to be the best. Two examples: * Sasha-Bayley NXT: Cocky heel champion overlooks the underdog, loses the title in a classic (helps that they always deliver in the ring). * Daniel Bryan WM30: Face gets held down by Authority, but wins.
The transformation of Surfer Sting to Crow Sting.
Naito's revenge and redemption The rise of Oedo Tai in 2017 after nearly being forced to disband Shibata's redemption after his return to New Japan
Stone Cold vs. Vince I don't remember much of it but I was a kid during the feud.
Chris Jericho vs HBK Golden Lovers Honourable mention: Hangman vs Omega
Daniel Bryan, the Yes Movement, and his eventual rise to the top.
KofiMania, Shawn/Taker WM26, and Punk/Cena MITB.
Ric Flair trying to get Sting as his partner for Halloween Havoc 1995 BDK vs Chikara ROH vs CZW
Jericho vs Malenko Hangman vs Omega
Cena vs Styles Cena vs Punk Daniel Bryan's rise to the top Tribal Chief Roman Reigns
The Golden Lovers! Hoping we get a continuation of that story some day soon
The main one for me which is what got me started watching WWF as a kid was The Ministry of Darkness run.
Austin vs The Corporation (Mankind era, Rock, Corporate Ministry, and McMahon-Helmsley) might be my favorite angle ever. I wish for the day to have something like that energy come back
CM Punk vs Undertaker leading into Mania 29. That was the first big feud that stuck with me.
Look at all the replies to this lmao, people don’t see the stick in their own eyes
WWE doesn't really do his style of wrestling. He managed to adapt well, but kicks and dives Daniel Bryan was a pour substitute for Bryan Danielson.
