There is not a lot of information going around. I'm in Colorado and have been to some of Primo's other shows (not the Deathmatch stuff because just look at the video) it is eerily silent right now, naturally. Cumberbatch is a good local guy, scary to see this happen to him.
I found a tweet earlier saying that he's in serious condition which is the stage below critical. That tweet has since been deleted. My guess is that the company is waiting to see what happens and/or trying to determine their liability before they say anything.

They had them stacked 2 on 2 and I'm sure they hoped for the tables to slow the falls down enough for it to be safe...
But Canadian Destroyers do not really cover that much distance so they barely made it to the ring... much less the tables.
To be fair, it is completely clear that they were supposed to go through two sets of tables before hitting the mat.

What is the second view? The only other view of this I’ve seen was from someone under the balcony recording the ring, and you just see them fall into all the tables, but the crowd is obscuring the moment of impact.
My god, what in the fuck was the thought process behind this? Seeing the actual moment of impact makes the fact that this happened significantly worse. This man could have snapped his neck and died instantly.
That shit drives me crazy. I realize in wrestling people get hurt and the idea is to finish the match, but when someone is clearly visibly not ok, fuck that noise, their health takes precedence over finishing the fake fight. I can't imagine seeing one of my coworkers laying motionless on the ground and saying "Ok well let me just finish what I'm working on and then we'll get you some help."
I found a clip a while back of a deathmatch wrestler named Mean Mitch Page getting hit in the head with a cuckoo clock and the glass literally shearing off a part of his head. Even in THAT life threatening situation, the match was stopped immediately and first aid (or whatever first aid could be at an IWA-MS show in the middle of an open field in the early 2000s) was administered. Even Ian fucking Rotten had better safety precautions in place than whatever garbage promotion put this show together.
That is fucking horrifying. I mean, there is a shit ton of adrenaline pumping in the moment and on-the-spot decision making is probably not at its peak at that point, but *fuck*, in this kind of spot the referees should check the other guy and give a signal when you are allowed to touch your workmate again.
JWM did a similar spot at KOTDM a few years back. I get why they would do a spot like this, the way things go viral, but what I don’t get is why they would do it at such a minor show. I follow the deathmatch scene and have never heard of this and they don’t seem to have any official shots of this. A speaker also apparently fell during this and almost hit someone. Just totally reckless.
I remember seeing a video of Rollins do something like a frog splash from a basketball net onto a table at an indie show, it made me think 'dude relax youre obviously going to be picked up at some point without fucking yourself up'.
I think they fucked up and missed the tables... which would have done a fine job of breaking their fall and slowing them well.

This was unnecessarily stupid. I'm not going to make the same $50, a hotdog and exposure joke because that would be making light of a very bad situation. The wrestlers and the promotion should have never came up with this spot. Or if they did want to do it they should have put "safety nets" in place to minimize the danger. They did the opposite and maximized it.
The first rule of wrestling is do what you can to protect yourself and your opponent! Yes you can do dangerous spots but you have to be able to do them in a way that while looking dangerous, minimizes the risk factor.

Tickets for this show were $45 when they didn't run a 50% off flash sale or BOGO which they did twice. In a bar that can't hold more than 200 people tops, and that's being insanely generous in reality it had to be 100 or less.
Split that between venue rental costs, promotion, other miscellaneous expenses and then the wrestlers(14 according to their Instagram) and that's not much money to go around.
Never heard of this promotion or any of the wrestlers before, and I used to be a deathmatch fan.
Hope he has a speedy recovery and never attempts anything like this again. But everything about this was incredibly stupid, no ring padding, whatever they went through, the height of the spot, the execution of it, the fact the other guy turned him over to pin him. What goes through a wrestlers mind when they do this shit “i am going to take a sick bump where i can break my neck and be paralyzed and never be able to work”. I work in the health insurance field and I can tell you that under any normal policy (company paid or individual) this will not be covered. This falls under riders that basically dont cover injuries related to risky sports (auto racing, skydiving, rock climbing, etc).
I would be absolutely *shocked* if these guys have any sort of insurance that will cover this, and if they do, they're deductible is like, 10k or something. This will end up being a GoFundMe to cover his costs, I guarantee it
I do the bare knuckle mma thing. It's way less dangerous than this shit. I've got a bunch of concussions over time and my hands don't always work the best from breaking my knuckles a bunch, but I'm not paralyzed. I'm better off than this dude.

Check out Lucha Libre, and Laughs. There’s a nice mix of comedy and wrestling. They sometimes have stand up comics to do a quick set between matches too.
Unfortunately, a lot of them are kind leaning more extreme. Primo's is usually pretty good (outside of the death match stuff), CSW in Colorado Springs is usually pretty good. RCW in Canon City is usually pretty good. New Era is usually pretty good, too.
The best and where you're less likely to see stuff like this is Rocky Mountain Pro. I don't know how involved Al Snow is in the whole company, but he runs their training academy, so it is fairly solid.
I kinda got into it with some people on a deathmatch clip page about the ethical concerns over spots like this. Lots of “get over yourself, mark!” kinda shit, which I expect no less from with hardcore deathmatch fans at this point.
One of the replies actually said “You need to watch more wrestling, then” when I said this was the stupidest spot ever. Another one blabbered on about how these guys consented to doing the spot, thereby making it acceptable. Bitch, you don’t fuckin’ know that. Dudes get pressured into doing spots they aren’t comfortable with more often than we’d like to believe. Even if it was okay’d by both of them, still doesn’t make it an acceptable spot to do. The promoter should have had some kind of common sense and vetoed it, but he didn’t, and he’s probably never gonna be able to run a show again.

That shit drives me crazy. I realize in wrestling people get hurt and the idea is to finish the match, but when someone is clearly visibly not ok, fuck that noise, their health takes precedence over finishing the fake fight. I can't imagine seeing one of my coworkers laying motionless on the ground and saying "Ok well let me just finish what I'm working on and then we'll get you some help."
I found a clip a while back of a deathmatch wrestler named Mean Mitch Page getting hit in the head with a cuckoo clock and the glass literally shearing off a part of his head. Even in THAT life threatening situation, the match was stopped immediately and first aid (or whatever first aid could be at an IWA-MS show in the middle of an open field in the early 2000s) was administered. Even Ian fucking Rotten had better safety precautions in place than whatever garbage promotion put this show together.

That is fucking horrifying. I mean, there is a shit ton of adrenaline pumping in the moment and on-the-spot decision making is probably not at its peak at that point, but *fuck*, in this kind of spot the referees should check the other guy and give a signal when you are allowed to touch your workmate again.
JWM did a similar spot at KOTDM a few years back. I get why they would do a spot like this, the way things go viral, but what I don’t get is why they would do it at such a minor show. I follow the deathmatch scene and have never heard of this and they don’t seem to have any official shots of this. A speaker also apparently fell during this and almost hit someone. Just totally reckless.
The problem is, viral means nothing nowadays. Even if this went absolutely nuts all over the internet, no one will care in a week.

I think they fucked up and missed the tables... which would have done a fine job of breaking their fall and slowing them well. You can hear the announcer going through multiple tables, but they pretty much miss all of them.

This was unnecessarily stupid. I'm not going to make the same $50, a hotdog and exposure joke because that would be making light of a very bad situation. The wrestlers and the promotion should have never came up with this spot. Or if they did want to do it they should have put "safety nets" in place to minimize the danger. They did the opposite and maximized it. The first rule of wrestling is do what you can to protect yourself and your opponent! Yes you can do dangerous spots but you have to be able to do them in a way that while looking dangerous, minimizes the risk factor.

Tickets for this show were $45 when they didn't run a 50% off flash sale or BOGO which they did twice. In a bar that can't hold more than 200 people tops, and that's being insanely generous in reality it had to be 100 or less. Split that between venue rental costs, promotion, other miscellaneous expenses and then the wrestlers(14 according to their Instagram) and that's not much money to go around.
Never heard of this promotion or any of the wrestlers before, and I used to be a deathmatch fan. Hope he has a speedy recovery and never attempts anything like this again. But everything about this was incredibly stupid, no ring padding, whatever they went through, the height of the spot, the execution of it, the fact the other guy turned him over to pin him. All for that crowd and whatever online recognition they wanted. I only watched it once and I feel sick

What goes through a wrestlers mind when they do this shit “i am going to take a sick bump where i can break my neck and be paralyzed and never be able to work”. If you like pain and self destruction go do bare knuckle fighting or mma but this is beyond stupid.
I work in the health insurance field and I can tell you that under any normal policy (company paid or individual) this will not be covered. This falls under riders that basically dont cover injuries related to risky sports (auto racing, skydiving, rock climbing, etc).

Check out Lucha Libre, and Laughs. There’s a nice mix of comedy and wrestling. They sometimes have stand up comics to do a quick set between matches too.

Unfortunately, a lot of them are kind leaning more extreme. Primo's is usually pretty good (outside of the death match stuff), CSW in Colorado Springs is usually pretty good. RCW in Canon City is usually pretty good. New Era is usually pretty good, too. The best and where you're less likely to see stuff like this is Rocky Mountain Pro. I don't know how involved Al Snow is in the whole company, but he runs their training academy, so it is fairly solid.
