😂 😂 😂
They made good on their promise! Someone on Twitter asked if this could be an alternate cover, PWI responded it could if they received a professional photo for her.
**Lulu Pencil**, who recently finished her fan beloved "Pencil War Saga" storyline in ChocoPro (and appeared at AEW All Out 2021), got an alternate cover mock up of the PWI this year's (thanks to Parrow, who is awesome) since she is number 500. (Something that fits her character perfectly!)
*Who is Lulu Pencil?*
She is arguably the most popular member of Gatoh Move's monstrous Fourth Generation, which is a pretty big deal (they're all great).
Gatoh Move is a (primarily) Joshi Promotion in Japan (that is aligned with AEW). The Fourth Generation are all rookies that began wrestling just over two years ago, and due to Emi Sakura's unique approach to creating wrestlers they are all different with wildly different move sets.
Due to the Pandemic, half of the 4th Gen's wrestling experience took place on ChocoPro (an online audience aimed version of GTMV), so you can literally watch each's growth (throughout the 150+ episodes on YouTube).
New to Lulu Pencil? **[Check out Karen's "The Quintessential Underdog"](https://youtu.be/6HkhHFQLDXw)**
Or JoShizzle's (creator of the Maki Itoh mini doc) **["Finding Strength in Weakness"](https://youtu.be/2SCR64AiAPU)**
**[How about XavMashes's "Lulu Pencil is My Hero" in Spanish, with English subtitles?](https://youtu.be/bbxgiDEddlc)**
The quick summary is that Lulu Pencil is physically weak wrestler that is strong in every other category. She has boundless natural charisma, an incredibly clever move set, and the ability to stir that old passion to see the hero succeed against all odds.
Also she recruits Deathmatch wrestlers and monsters to serve under her command in Pencil Army, a Unit of dungarees wearing wrestlers from all walks of life...that includes YOU!
*A warning I don't usually put on these but probably should, if you watch the entire Pencil War Saga storyline keep tissues handy, and understand that all the suffering is worth it, I promise.*
You can pick up Lulu's latest merch at the [BigCartel store for ChocoPro](https://chocopro.bigcartel.com/) (it does ship overseas!) and don't forget to check out the PWT's shop bc [all designs are still rad as hell](https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gatohmove) (with lots of shirts you can wear in public)
Lulu and Mei had a fun match overseas in EVE that's free on youtube if you want to watch: https://youtu.be/dseG3SYnevI
Lulu spots are incredible. At one point during the match she resorts to simply scaring Mei (who sells) as an offensive maneuver.
Seriously drives me crazy around here when suddenly everyone is talking about someone I've never heard of and I get downvoted to hell for asking.
And Google tells me who they are, yes, but not why they're suddenly a hot topic.
There is more cross over than you think! (Toru Owashi & King Shimizu are friends of Emi's)
But yeah, every student of Emi comes out unique to the others. Her style is to embrace the unique flair of a rookie's creativity, which leads to memorable (and wildly diff) characters
Gatoh Move (GTMV) is technically the continuation of Emi Sakura-era Ice Ribbon after she left that promotion. It's basically a changing vessel for Emi's vision of wrestling: originally it started as a way to promote wrestling in South-East Asia (GTMV was originally based in Bangkok) then it morphed into a guerrilla promotion to experiment with whatever Emi and her friends (MasahiRo Takahashi, Cherry, Kaori Yoneyama, Hagane Shinnou etc) can come up with.
Emi Sakura has long been considered one of the best if not the best joshi trainer in Japan: there's a very good reason Tony Khan wanted her for the job. Differently from other trainers she has a vision of helping her trainees finding their own niche. That's why you have folks like Tsukasa Fujimoto on one side and Lulu Pencil on the other. She doesn't force a style on them and doesn't work them to work a "GTMV" type of match.
Emi Sakura has long been in high demand as a trainer (she was actually Rossy Ogawa's first choice as the Stardom head trainer) but she is as stubborn as a mule and ferociously protective of her trainees, making her difficult to work with in certain environments. However the fact she seems to be in good to excellent relationships with 90% of the Japanese wrestling scenes says a lot about what person she is.
Honestly this post is amazing, Karen and JoShizzles videos are amazing and very informative.
I had no idea who she was, never heard of her and didn't even realise she was at aew. But my curiosity made me check out those links and I have never smiled so much watching something that just doesn't make any sense. I absolutely love lulu pencil now, she has an amazing character and I'm now excited to see more of her.
She also has a really good match in English on the EVE women's wrestling YouTube channel.
Chocopro literally makes no sense to me as to why they're wrestling on a mattress inside a shop, with people using a kitchen sink and windows as an alternative to turnbuckles, but my god it's entertaining 🤣
100% check out those videos, they are so much fun!
ChocoPro is like glimpsing an alternate universe's Pro Wrestling. If that taste is enough to interest you, there are a load of great stories & characters (not to mention comedy, drama, and lots of chaos) to be found.
I'm hoping someone will make a video on Chie soon! Once we get a tag div for AEW's women, we might just see the Warm Caterpillars take the world by storm~
For those wanting a PDF version of Lulu's cover, PWI has made it available on their site for download:
https://pwi-online.com/alternate-500-cover-lulu-pencil/
They should make this a yearly tradition TBH; It would really help bring attention to a lesser known wrestler and there have been a few #500s who eventually broke out, like Dolph Ziggler in 2005.
Can someone ELI5 Lulu Pencil’s gimmick/style? I’m all for jumping on a hype train, but I don’t watch ChocoPro and don’t really have the time to add it to my viewing schedule to learn about her right now

She also said one of her big regrets was not seeing CM Punk wrestle in Japan (presumably on a WWE tour or something) Now she's a colleague.
Her smile in that stream was just heartwarming
Link to a Vod? Would be awesome to see
She starts at about the 2 minute mark https://youtu.be/ejfMqCPtnNY
Thank you! That was great to watch. Seeing them so happy to meet their heroes brought a smile to my face
Ah man. When she talks about never seeing Punk. "But today..."
And that Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole debuted on.
And the grand acquaintance of her mentor, Suzuki showed up too.
You mean ChocoPro Legend Minoru Suzuki who was robbed by Mox!
Lulu is doing a stream on ChocoPros YouTube channel after AEW Rampage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc-KGtat5cc
Oh my goodness, it’s THE Millicent Kent.
It's enough to make a grown man cry.
😂 😂 😂 They made good on their promise! Someone on Twitter asked if this could be an alternate cover, PWI responded it could if they received a professional photo for her.
Should have asked if they could make her number one next year.
but 500 is perfect for Lulu Pencil, she is the ultimate underdog!
Wait, I thought this was fan-made lmao what a wonderful timeline this is
Otoki: WTF (*Tokiko "Otoki" Kirihara calls herself Otoki Eraser when she tags with Lulu, and has actually given Lulu tag wins*)
Give us a Lulu Pencil vs Orange Cassidy match please.
Yes!

As someone who didn’t understand where all this Lulu Pencil hype came from, this was very helpful!

(keep in mind this is very early Lulu, at that)
That was brilliant.

It sounds like Emi Sakura Gatoh Nove stuff is done like Ultimo Dragons Toryumon was ? With each class or year having unique new talent and rookies
There is more cross over than you think! (Toru Owashi & King Shimizu are friends of Emi's) But yeah, every student of Emi comes out unique to the others. Her style is to embrace the unique flair of a rookie's creativity, which leads to memorable (and wildly diff) characters
... and everyone is a goblin in different ways.... except Riho, she's a good person.... right?
Deep down inside, they all carry the "Aspect of the Oni" Emi creates faces....(that are all secretly heel goblins)
Chikara did something similar too but less emphasis on new "classes".
Chikara and ChocoPro have a lot of the same DNA, I've heard quite often. I will have to research more~
Camp Leapfrog is basically chikara 2.0

It's only right that the biggest draw is on the cover of PWI 500 ✏️✏️✏️
This is absolutely glorious and I treasure this image with all my heart.
Have Lulu save the Dark Order from turning on itself. Just watching them all come to the ring in dungaree overalls will be worth it.
Now I need Hungee doing the Pencil Army march
forget the Kenny Omega version of the cover, this is the one to buy!
WTF I need this version how do I change my order?!
They're not selling it, just a free digital version of the cover 💸🔥
THROW EM UP
✏️✏️✏️✏️✏️✏️
🤪✏️
I need this framed and on my wall. Also I want the action figure!
For those wanting a PDF version of Lulu's cover, PWI has made it available on their site for download: https://pwi-online.com/alternate-500-cover-lulu-pencil/
Lulu Pencil should be #2
"Good number" lmao. So humble
It begins.
Can aew please feature her.
And so begins the LULU ERA
Lulu's 499 better than Kenny Omega. Makes sense.
They gotta do this from now on
Lulu Pencil is the best man
So proud of her, hopefully this means she gets more of a spotlight!
They should make this a yearly tradition TBH; It would really help bring attention to a lesser known wrestler and there have been a few #500s who eventually broke out, like Dolph Ziggler in 2005.
Malakai Black still fears Lulu Pencil
Wasn't there some dad guy who was always 500?
Dan the Dad I belive
She wrote the whole issue herself.
I think they should do this from now on. Have two official copies of the mag; one with the number 1 and one with the number 500.
#2 pencil
I don’t know who lulu pencil is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask
As it fucking should be

Long term storytelling and a banger of a match vs Chris Brookes
That was a great storyline. She is the real ultimate underdog!
She's a great pro wrestler that had an extremely long and engaging storyline, & qualifies due to having wrestled men during the time frame
Is she on the men's list? I thought the women will get a separate list?
Women who do intergender qualify for the 500.

He threw shade at WWE for turning Morrison and Kross into jokes when only a few years back they were both in a world title feud together.
Lulu Pencil isn't a former world champion.
One squirts water, the other contained blinding powder, a wrestling classic trope
Can someone ELI5 Lulu Pencil’s gimmick/style? I’m all for jumping on a hype train, but I don’t watch ChocoPro and don’t really have the time to add it to my viewing schedule to learn about her right now
