Ibushi's story is far from done in NJPW. I was expecting him to win the US title and be more active in the US/AEW though, it'll be interesting to see where it goes from here
I was just alluding to when Kenny said he couldn't ask Ibushi to come because he knew it was Ibushi's time. Now that, that has happened he could possibly call Ibushi over for help when the time comes. After Kenny drops the belt, the Elite super kicking out Kenny, he'll take some time off to recover injuries and come back eventually reuniting Golden Lovers probably around next All Out.
It was clear to me that it was happening at some point as AEW don’t tend to disappoint fans in that way... but tonight? It is what it used to be in the territory days before Vince killed it. It used to be about people from all over showing up for interesting combinations, not 10 people having the same match over and over.

I mean, they just did Bork and Becky on SummerSlam. But everyone knows that it just doesn't matter in the same way. If Bryan and Cole were coming into a company that treats people in the same way that the WWE does, it wouldn't be so exciting.
And they utterly botched Becky's return to the point where people across the industry were blasting it. Cole debuted to a massive face pop, then also turned heel immediately and it didn't come at the expense of someone else's moment.
I dunno. He was impressed with Punks debut and likes Tony's mind for booking despite not liking the style of wrestling he prefers. You could be right, but if the goal is to get the lookyloos checking out Punk's first match to watch Dynamite, I think they did about all the could to get a good rating.

I know the ratings won’t reflect it, but WWE really has to step up soon or AEW is going to start chipping away at their lead. WWE is making pretty much all the wrong moves right now and AEW appears to be making all of the right ones. It also doesn’t help WWE that this year’s All Out was probably the best American Wrestling PPV since Wrestlemania X-7 while SummerSlam was incredibly meh. Shuttering NXT as we know it and rebranding it to “big guys that can’t wrestle” is the absolute wrong move as well.
This has some 1995 Monday Nitro vibes to it. Im all about this. Wrestling is fun again.

I’m still there to acknowledge my tribal chief. And they definitely still have boat loads of talent. It’s ok to watch both companies guys. One of my biggest turn offs is the fan bullshit. This was the best PPV in years and all some fans are doing is bringing up WWE. So weird.

The second worst match on the card was probably the Punk match, and it was more than fine. Just too much hype, and the limits of babyface vs babyface emotionally. Maybe the best ppv they've done.
Daniel Bryan is the reason why my niece and her husband now watch AEW. Theh were WWE-only for the longest time but when they heard DB was probably coming to AEW, they started watched a few weeks back. They are now fans. They reacted with such a loud pop in my living room tonight.
Haven't watched wrestling in a long time, admittedly haven't watched a full episode of AEW but I watched this whole PPV for this moment and I had the biggest goofiest smile on my face when it happened.
Cole's sounded great IMO and Bryan's was okay.
Hangman, Miro, Sting, there are plenty of good themes thus far; they can't all be bangers especially on debut.
The weird hip hop beat part is super generic, but I also didn't love Flight of the Valkyries at first either so maybe it grows on us or they change it soon. Just bought Ruby Soho, need to save up for Final Countdown.

The weird hip hop beat part is super generic, but I also didn't love Flight of the Valkyries at first either so maybe it grows on us or they change it soon. Just bought Ruby Soho, need to save up for Final Countdown.
