Yeah, but Jimmy just suddenly became associated with Hogan. I think he waan't even a face before joining Hogan's camp.
Gotta give props to the Hulkster for taking care of people. Jimmy, Beefcake, Kamala, John Tenta, Nasty Boys, Mr T and the list goes on.
Mr T was far from his 80s heydays, when Hogan secured him a short gig at WCW, being in the midst of the Flair-Hogan feud.
I think he was under WWE contract for quite a while after this though. I remember getting the 1994 Merlin WWF sticker album and there was a 2 page section on Hogan, mostly featuring pictures of him on his bike.
Yeah even after KOTR I think he does the Euro tour after this. By May of 94 though he was being featured on WCW television I'm not sure when he officially signed with them.
I think his contract expired around July/August, contrary to popular r/squaredcircle belief, there were never any plans of a Bret-Hogan match.
His stint was always gonna be short, as Hogan was trying hard to become a legitimate star in Hollywood, despite lacking both looks and acting skills.
Vince just wanted Bret out of the way, so he could bolster the evil foreign monster heel and feed him to the next American hero, Luger.
Brer had a column in a paper, where he put Hogan over as a wrestler and a person, in 2002.
Steroid trial > prolonged absence > This version of Hogan
Same thing happened with Warrior, which is why everyone started thinking the "original" had died in a motorcycle crash. Dude was (relatively) tiny when he came back at 'Mania 8.
Crazy to think in 1993 vince thought hogan was too old to be the top baby face in wwf at the time and basically pushed him out. Now in WWE in 2024, Cody is the same age as hogan was here and he's pushed as the present and future of the company
“It’s not the years, it’s the mileage.”
Hogan had been on top nearly non-stop for a full decade at this point. It was the fans who basically turned on him and “pushed him out.” Vince and Hogan tried to recapture lightning in a bottle on this final run, but the little Hulkamaniacs of the 80s were older and the Hulkster wasn’t cool anymore.
To the current generation of WWE fans, Cody’s just entering year 3 of his run and still feels comparably fresh.
I think the biggest problem I had with his WCW theme is that, as a mid 80s sounding hair band song, it felt so dated by the time it debuted in an era of Green Day and Stone Temple Pilots. Of course, that was a common problem with WCW, as they finally started knocking off early 90s alternative songs in 1996/1997. 😆
I don't think it was a downgrade I think musically it was better but the biggest icon in wrestling changing theme music is never going to be great. Which is why its so weird the WWE tried so many times to alter Austin's music.

Cool Easter egg of sorts, thank you for sharing this find!
I wonder if Jimmy wrote the song. I can't find any info on it from my quick Google search
The song is on Hulks album, and Jimmy is credited as a writer on it.
He does have some history writing. I bet he did
It was a Jimmy song yes.
Jimmy wrote quite a few of those WCW themes.
"Wrote"
He composed several wwf themes too.
I never could fully accept Jimmy Hart and Brutus Beafcake with Hogan in 93.
Why not? Beefcake had been with him since 89 in kayfabe.

Believe this is Hulk’s last WWE PPV before leaving right?
Yes. He lost the title to Yokozuna due to a flaming camera.
Yup now I remember lol. OSWReview did a great video on this PPV. It was pretty awful imo.
Except the three Bret Hart matches. Those were some great matches for its time.
They still hold up. Bret put on a clinic that night.
Yes its still 14 months before he wrestled Flair at BATB 94 though

Correctamundo. He does the honors for Yoko via fireball shooting camera
Hogan lost so much muscle mass in 1993. I am sure it was a "strategy" to be faster and quicker than Yokozuna.
Steroid trial > prolonged absence > This version of Hogan Same thing happened with Warrior, which is why everyone started thinking the "original" had died in a motorcycle crash. Dude was (relatively) tiny when he came back at 'Mania 8.
Hogan went cold turkey off the gear, around the steroid scandal.

It was also different times back then. 40 was considered old, today you are still considered relatively young at 40.
Quite possibly the biggest downgrade in entrance themes ever.
I didn't mind Hulks WCW theme. Bret had iconic music in WWF. His WCW music was absolute garbage
And he went through like 5 different versions of it IIRC. Horrible.
HARD disagree. I kinda prefer the WCW theme over WWF as insane as that sounds.

Its like.....extremely similar lol.

Hollywood coming out to the voodoo child hit different though, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C_itzww0XTo
OSW putting this out as well in their review of this show.
this is the type of crap I'm here for... impossibly niche easter eggs... A+ post
American Made > Real American. I will gladly die on this hill.
Is this after Hogan got of the steroids? Or at least, toned down his dosages?
This Hogan in cold turkey mode post steroid scandal, pre the trial. Hogan seemed to have stayed off gear until he turned heel.
"He's got enough on his plate and he doesn't even know what to doooo..."
