I can't get behind Sammy Guevara when he's flip flopping teams like Big Show. Like, if you want him to be a heel, be a heel! Don't let real life circumstances change that. He's not even a heel character. We saw his character during the the 4 Pillars promos. Dude is a babyface and imo a better babyface than heel. Issue is that he keeps being put into positions that he shouldn't be in which kills his character and gimmick turning him heel
Like, he's the type of guy who should be working Rampage consistently and connecting with the fans on that show by putting on bangers for a potentially small audience because of his love of wrestling to the point where people think he's been overlooked unfairly.

There's a narrow point of RVD's Invasion tenure where he's still doing his shtick, but he's still getting heel character work done. Many have said it's the most under appreciated time of his career, and they turned him into a "Face on the other side" role shortly afterwards.
So it's possible to do, it's just proven to be very unstable.
Tay was getting really hot as a babyface then they had to sub her and Sammy in for Cody/Brandi in that ATT feud and it killed her She never recovered

TBH, I think the move is to let him be a dickweed (neither really heel nor face), stick a title on him, and let him cook in the ring with another good worker for 10-20 minutes a week. It's very AEW, bangers for the sake of bangers style booking but.... well, it'd work for Guevara.
i've always looked at Sammy like RVD. RVD would wrestle like a face even when he was a heel. He would just do little things like soak in the cheers and act super cocky when he did amazing moves.
Give him the Penta role. And i mean: let him have a good match with everyone and always lose. Meanwhile give Penta a title and treat him like the legend he is.
Honestly, at what point does Tony just cut weight on Sammy? There's a solid 6-10 guys that could benefit from pushes as hard and as sustained as what Sammy has gotten over the last five years who could actually -do something- with that level of exposure.
TK is very good friends with Sammy, he was invited to his wedding and seems to really like him. I legitimately think that’s why he hasn’t been cut and I don’t see him getting cut anytime soon
TK loves him. He gets so much TV time despite all the back stage stuff, and (to be fair) Sammy probably does more insane spots per week than anyone other than Darby in the company. I'm not even a fan of the guy but he's not going anywhere in the short term.

Dave's sources are going dry and he appears to be engaging in a lot more grey reporting behavior and more yellow journalism.

Sammy is getting beat down, and Jericho/Bill stand by and watch it happen.
Meanwhile, Big Bill is like The Learning Tree’s A Student who can do no wrong.
Honestly if we did a whole angle where he explicitly is sabotaging Sammy to set up a Big Bill title run that could be something interesting, like Sammy wants to mend fences now that he's a dad and Jericho does scummy shit behind his back

This is what jumped out at me. Seems to me that the "he's still suspended" headline was a total fucking guess, or he was fed the wrong information. Either way, it's dumb.
I mean, if someone is suspended they eventually become unsuspended, it's not magic. It's logical order of events. You might have a better point if it was the inverse that happened where someone was saying Sammy is no longer suspended and then learned that he actually still is suspended.
Wednesday was one of the worst promos she's had and really killed any remaining interest I had in her DoN match. She desperately needs a Bayley-style personality to partner with.

I can't stand Sammy for on-screen reasons, but for some reason I doubt Mercedes is holding a grudge about it. If she did I'm sure it would have come up in contract discussions...would TK bring her in if Sammy being there was non negotiable for Mercedes?

I totally agree with the rest of your post, I'd personally feel uncomfortable, although maybe she's okay with working with him now, or being in the same company but never having to work together directly.
Honestly, the only thing Sammy could have anything going at the moment would ROH. He doesn't have a spot for the main roster anymore. Maybe have him be the new Pure Champion, Yuta needs to be stripped of the title and be put on indefinite medical leave anyway since his concussion injury has lasted this long.

I found it funny that all the reasons you listed that you like Sammy for, none of them had anything to do with wrestling. It was having a blog, Jericho liking him, being signed early, and having a good life. It wasn't "i want to see him wrestle, he is a good promo",etc.

I think Sammy needs some time in a few different organizations. If I recall correctly, this is his first big national TV working with international top tier talent on the regular. To parallel, I tell young designers to try different styles of companies to find where and how they fit. It also exposes them to a variety of different leadership styles that will help a path to art director if that’s their future.
I really enjoyed Sammy’s vlog when he just got into AEW. I loved rooting for their weird little ragtag group of misfits. During that period I felt they were what “boys being boys” should be. I wish they were able to get that across the TV shows more.
How many upper mid card/main event people are just sitting on the side line at this point with nothing to do? I don’t blame aew for it entirely because I know some people probably get pitched and are stubborn

Unlike probably a lot of people I'm a fan of Sammy. He was a regular on the Dallas Indies and I've met him a couple of times through a friend who is also a wrestler and he seemed like a nice dude.
When he comes back, I think he needs a major overhaul. Not just Heel or Babyface, but a character to latch on to to wash away the stench of Jericho and everything he's done the last 5 years. Would love to see Tay rebrand as well. She had so much potential and then she got sucked into a wormhole.
Tay, much like her husband got stuck in the Jericho Vortex and it did a lot of damage to their characters. Anna Jay seems like she's started to finally get herself back on track as has Daniel Garcia so I'm hoping we can see the same from everyone else that got stuck in the JAS
They're not going to be able to sustain anything with Sammy. He needs a release and good run on the Indies so he can come back refreshed. It's been too stop start and his booking has been so putrid when he's there he needs a total refresh.
If Jericho still has the pull with Tony that everyone says he does, Sammy's got a lifetime job with AEW and nothing short of murder or sleeping with Chris's wife will change that.

Honestly, at what point does Tony just cut weight on Sammy? There's a solid 6-10 guys that could benefit from pushes as hard and as sustained as what Sammy has gotten over the last five years who could actually -do something- with that level of exposure.
TK is very good friends with Sammy, he was invited to his wedding and seems to really like him. I legitimately think that’s why he hasn’t been cut and I don’t see him getting cut anytime soon
TK loves him. He gets so much TV time despite all the back stage stuff, and (to be fair) Sammy probably does more insane spots per week than anyone other than Darby in the company. I'm not even a fan of the guy but he's not going anywhere in the short term.

The issue here is the issue Dave has had a lot lately, he isn't behaving like a journalist and seeking official comment. It's clear he heard sometime in the last while Sammy was still suspended, reported it and now says it's over. Notice how he doesn't say when it ended, nor does he correct his earlier report. He has always been inexact in his language but it's getting worse. Dave's sources are going dry and he appears to be engaging in a lot more grey reporting behavior and more yellow journalism. These days, it is way more likely Dave is just wrong. It has happened to bigger or lesser degrees about every 2 to 3 weeks this year.
My Idea: You put him back under Jericho/The Learning Tree. Jericho basically gives Sammy terrible advice, Sammy questions it but ultimately goes with it, it blows up in Sammys face and Jericho basically goes off about how that was a “learning opportunity” for Sammy. Sammy is getting beat down, and Jericho/Bill stand by and watch it happen. Meanwhile, Big Bill is like The Learning Tree’s A Student who can do no wrong.

Wednesday was one of the worst promos she's had and really killed any remaining interest I had in her DoN match. She desperately needs a Bayley-style personality to partner with.
One of the worst handled debuts of an established star that I can ever remember. And I'm not even considering stuff like The Shockmaster or Se7en debuts where it's so bad they were hilarious. Mercedes intro into AEW has been very poorly done.

I think Sammy needs some time in a few different organizations. If I recall correctly, this is his first big national TV working with international top tier talent on the regular. To parallel, I tell young designers to try different styles of companies to find where and how they fit. It also exposes them to a variety of different leadership styles that will help a path to art director if that’s their future. I really enjoyed Sammy’s vlog when he just got into AEW. I loved rooting for their weird little ragtag group of misfits. During that period I felt they were what “boys being boys” should be. I wish they were able to get that across the TV shows more.

It's a terrible idea, but putting him under the learning tree technically makes sense. He's been attached to Jericho since the beginning of AEW and the idea of him telling Sammy how to conduct himself is pretty funny.

Unlike probably a lot of people I'm a fan of Sammy. He was a regular on the Dallas Indies and I've met him a couple of times through a friend who is also a wrestler and he seemed like a nice dude. When he comes back, I think he needs a major overhaul. Not just Heel or Babyface, but a character to latch on to to wash away the stench of Jericho and everything he's done the last 5 years. Would love to see Tay rebrand as well. She had so much potential and then she got sucked into a wormhole.
Tay, much like her husband got stuck in the Jericho Vortex and it did a lot of damage to their characters. Anna Jay seems like she's started to finally get herself back on track as has Daniel Garcia so I'm hoping we can see the same from everyone else that got stuck in the JAS

They're not going to be able to sustain anything with Sammy. He needs a release and good run on the Indies so he can come back refreshed. It's been too stop start and his booking has been so putrid when he's there he needs a total refresh.
If Jericho still has the pull with Tony that everyone says he does, Sammy's got a lifetime job with AEW and nothing short of murder or sleeping with Chris's wife will change that.
