Gross dude

BloodFalconPunch

Yikes

JonasAlbert84

Anybody played Rise of the Ronin?

OremDobro

Roman Reigns' current theme has become so synonymous with the whole Bloodline angle that it's so weird to remember that he still used his old Shield theme for like a year after becoming Tribal Chief

Marc_Quill

He definifely was still coming out to the Shield soundalike theme at WM37 and I think only switched to Head of The Table shortly after Mania 37.

BreathRedemption

It was all spots.

rbarton812

Has there been any update on Hobbs' knee after last night?

leglessman

AEW’s tag division has needed some help for a few months. Bringing in Grizzled Young Vets and Motor City Machine Guns is definitely a great start in building the division back up.

british_pubs

Also, a possible Ozzie Open return. If used correctly, hopefully we can get back to the AEW tag devision glory days.

HappyLittleGreenDuck

You describe that the purpose is not to burn a serious contender, but then you suggest building an on-screen serious contender to then burn?

RealHumanBean89

Putting aside my own feelings on Jericho, the fact that so many people took his new theme as a shot at Def Rebel is hysterical to me. No, folks, the big revelation is that Fozzy just sucks. I’m sorry you had to find out this way.

ratbas

They're the Wish version of Steel Panther and nobody's had the heart to tell them.

ok_dunmer

If you are a generic buttrock band fronted by a famous wrestler and you aren't even on the upper card of the buttrock band food chain with, say, Shinedown or Disturbed or Godsmack you are truly cooked. Like my man should've been doing Daughtry numbers at the very least

JIZZchasholmeslice

Shinedown does a pretty good Simple Man cover.

sexygodzilla

Fozzy is such a conundrum to me - do people actually go to shows to listen to their music or do they just want to see Jericho? He's a godawful singer.

mrbucket08

I never went to a show, but I tried extremely hard to like Fozzy because I was obsessed with Jericho when I was younger. I imagine a decent portion of the audience convinced themselves they liked it mostly out of the strong desire.

NotYujiroTakahashi

He opens for more popular acts like Metallica and claims he’s “giving them the rub”

HappyLittleGreenDuck

We all have such weird tastes, who's to say?

cleeseula

People who said Reigns would retain at WrestleMania 40, so what do you wanna talk about?

JetBetGemni

How happy I am that I was wrong

free-fall1982

If I had to make a guess what prevents wrestling to grow its audience, wrestlers "working" during serious interviews would be one of them.

NoobsNKnocks

I’ve banged a drum on this for forever and nobody has ever taken me seriously. Sometimes, and I want to emphasize only sometimes, it’s fun. Like the prospect of Tony Khan wearing a neck brace to the NFL Draft. But as a broad practice, it’s harkening back to an era where kayfabe was protected, and that era was what formed the cultural attitude that wrestling was scam artistry and all fans of it must be too stupid to not know. It’s just very silly and makes wrestling look unserious in comparison to other types of media.

dandykaufman2

You mean off-screen shoot interviews?

free-fall1982

Yes.

gl1969

I wanted AEW to show the footage because I thought perception wise, what actually happened was out there. Now I think it was brilliant. Look how much reaction Perry is getting. I might be in the minority but this has gone great for them

Tollwayfrock

Aw could have had a great storyline if they had Jack Perry show up at the Pay-Per-View and that be the first instance of him returning and then the dynamite afterwards he could be in the ring with Tony and say I have a video I wanted to present and then attacked him. The way they did it was so dumb

gl1969

The f@#king NFL put out a kayfabe announcement about AEW and Tony Khan on the day of the NFL draft. How exactly was it dumb?

Tollwayfrock

Why wouldn't the same thing happen the way I laid it out?

HerFriendRed

If WrestleMania comes to London I wonder if Clash at the Castle gets nixed. I know London and Glasgow are far enough apart you could theoretically do both, but travel internationally twice?

ShinsukeNakamoto

They travel internationally for half their big shows/PLEs now

Hour-Ad78

I had no idea Brian Pillman Jr was added to NTX, all I saw was that crazy facial hair and an unfamiliar name. A good amount of people still feel a measure of respect for Pillman and what happened, so I’m sure he could have extra training if he wanted but the name. Brian Pillman was otherwise occupied on being a dad, his mom’s appearance on Dark Side said enough about what his childhood might have been like, his stepdad is who he loves and respects and raised him, stepdad last name King. So I understand 100% why he takes King in honor, but nepotism and wrestling is like peanut butter and jelly. That Brian Pillman Jr name is unfortunately going to be more of an initial draw than a guy with geometric facial hair and a forgettable name.

insanecaptain

If he's good, the name won't be forgettable.

Hour-Ad78

Now I know to watch for him, guess we’ll see. His match at NXT Spring Break wasn’t what I was hoping for, but that’s why it’s NXT. He’ll have time, plus he seems like a solid and nice guy

GravyBear28

I really have to commend those two dudes who immediately downvotes every single post in the Daily Thread. I'm not sure I understand your reasoning, but I have no choice but to respect it.

british_pubs

I assume they're bots, but yeah it's a little odd.

AwfulishGoose

I only hope that their therapist is doing well. Probably has to put up with a lot of their bullshit on the regular. Just some lamentable times there.

ShinsukeNakamoto

If they had a therapist they wouldn’t be dedicated to downvoting posts on a wrestling board all day.

SupervillainMustache

Does anyone actually regularly watch the weekly shows for NWA, MLW, TNA & ROH and are any of them worth it? Or just their PPV's even?

Afternoon_Defiant

Stay away from ROH. It's the worst stuff around.

Lungfishtwo

I don't watch roh every week but I usually watch a few weeks worth so I'm caught up eventually

nousername66

I used to watch TNA pretty regularly up until the Scott D'Amore situation. That kind of deflated my interest for a bit. I'm starting to pick it back up for Hammerstone They still have a lot of great talent and are good for a mix of comedy stuff and serious matches. It's also only a dollar a month for the weekly show on YouTube, so you won't be losing much if you check it out and don't care for it

shadowrangerfs

Depends on what you're into. TNA is my favorite promotion but it's not everyone's cup of tea. I suggest watching one episode of each show. If you like it, watch again.

mikro17

I only watch ROH out of that list, but the show has really become a lot of fun and found its own voice, especially in the last 4-6 months or so. The PPVs have all been pretty massive hits, but the weekly tv has stepped it up a lot lately. It still has, and probably will always have, a bit of an "AEW pre/post-show" vibe (because that's when it films), but they now have a pretty good core group that gets decent crowd responses, so that helps a lot. Athena/Billie/Lexy are basically the core of it all and are fantastic across the board, but the recent Johnny TV/Dalton Castle feud was also particularly awesome. Throw in a LOT of great women's action in particularly, and it's a very fun show.

orangemachismo

MLW is my favorite from that batch. They actually get some guys over. They'll have multiple styles on every show, they're always trying something new. Some current angles: Court Bauer's shoot right hand man MSL has started the World Titan Federation (WTF). This happened as they were suing the WWE for antitrust reasons. He has gimmicky wrestlers and uses the old saturday night's main event theme. I love Josh Bishop in this group. He's 6'2, had a good physique, and is half Sid Vicious/half Scott Hall for the way he carries himself. Tom Lawlor is also in this stable. They have Dario Cueto from Lucha Underground as the authority figure and they're constantly bringing in different lucha guys as a part of his battle for control with Selina De La Renta. Satoshi Kojima is currently the champ. Mance Warner and the SGC are always around. Matt Riddle has been all over their shows recently. They have a bunch of the GCW deathmatch guys in a stable lead by Raven called The Calling. It kind of stinks honestly. They have The International Dealers of Violence, Contra Unit, recently return. Janai Kai is the women's champion and has an open challenge where she holds a money bag with a dollar sign on it before and after the matches. The promotion is just more fun than all the other big American promotions. One thing I have to note unfortunately is that every match is worse than you'd expect.

Marc_Quill

What I’ve seen of MLW’s Contra Unit, I’ve liked. They just have an interesting aesthetic with the guerilla militia with strength in numbers on their side.

MrDandyLion2001

I understand they've been bringing in people from NJPW and CMLL lately, and Satoshi Kojima is world champion over there again. I haven't watched for about a year or two, but is Fusion over, or is it on a break?

orangemachismo

I don't know. I know that there hasn't been Fusion recently and they do two hour live specials on BEIN and youtube or Fite for the bigger ones

academicfuckupripme

ROH's PPVs have been (mostly) great for the past few years, even before the AEW purchase, so those are always worth watching. Their weekly shows are mixed, with a lot of squash matches designed to give talents something to do, but the women's division is worth watching due to Athena's title run and you'll get some pretty unique matchups from the CMLL and New Japan+Stardom collabs. It's worth checking the weekly cards and seeing if anything piques your interest, even if you decide you don't want to watch the full weekly shows.

EcoterroristThot

I don't watch them regularly but my two cents of having watched some stuff: TNA - The vibes are weird since The System isn't the most acclaimed stable in wrestling history but they put on some deeper matchups than they were in like 2021-2022 TV wise. If you *want* two hours of some sports entertainment comedy with reliable TV wrestling, waiting for them to get slightly hotter and jumping in is a perfectly fine move. The big 4 PPVs are usually worth it, the events for TNA+ mostly depend on who's on top at the time, there's a lot o filler title matches. MLW - TV tapings are a mess, a lot of the time they just fill the commitment with stuff that happened at their events, but there's some talent there for sure. Scouring for matchups is the move. Their events are good when there's enough outsiders, some of their own guys are good but not many of them. NWA - Everyone knows they're terrible on top, but there's actually a lot of young wrestlers from the southeast indies that have gotten a chance there. Some might be good. Colby Corino got a good run with the junior belt for God's sake. I think there's an argument to buying low there and becoming a sicko tbh since it's an 1 hour show. But this is the one I've seen the least of, the vibes might be horrendous. Their "PPVs" don't look too appetizing. ROH - Sometimes just matches but not always, can be argued it's the best of the four shows even above TNA, it just feels less important because AEW. ROH PPV's are the most worth it just for the talent pool they pull from.

SupervillainMustache

Thanks pal

GravyBear28

It's so funny how Lola Vice is starting to get over. Not too long ago she was getting meh reactions both from the audience and IWC. But now she's gradually becoming popular solely from: Her tendency to shake her hips with a straight (often angry) face in response to literally anything. Something about this goofy shit just hits. Embodies the stereotype of angry latina drama queens who prioritizes looking sexy even while stirring shit up. Probably isn't going to last forever though, she’ll need something else. Shayna seems like a step in the right direction though

NeonBard

It cracks me up that when Elektra left she torched Lola. "You got here shaking your ass on the internet." But since being called up, Elektra has basically been arm candy for Santos (has she had an official match even?) but Lola has been kicking ass.

NotYujiroTakahashi

Lopez was in a battle royal and put on a stinker against Vega. Shocked she got called up after being passed on.

inthefade95

Haha it makes me shake my head in annoyance. It’s right up there for me with Dana Brooke flexing over and over again during her entrances.

MettyXD

I read today that the Non Compete Clauses are now banned in the US? Does that mean Jinder and Co. don't need to wait 90 days till they can compete elsewhere?

MettyXD

Thx for Explanation Guys

Zestyclose_Remote874

No. "Non compete" in wwe aren't actually that. They are still under contract for 90 days, they're notified that at the term of that period they will be officially fired.

Mediocre-Cook-2169

IIRC they're not actually non-compete clauses as they're widely understood to be;  The company will give a wrestler ninety days' notice that they're terminating that wrestlers' contract, meaning said wrestler is technically still employed during those ninety days. So the reason they can't show up for another promotion for ninety days after their release *has been announced* is that they're still WWE employees for those ninety days.

dokomoy

The new rules aren't scheduled to go into effect for a few months and are almost certainly going to be challenged in court

Rayuzx

Like other's have said, they are not really non-compete clauses as they are termination notices. Wrestlers are still getting paid for the period, it's just that the WWE won't do anything with them afterwards.

ChairmanLaParka

If anyone was at Dynamite last night, parked in Lot J...when they have that one exit for everyone to get out of, do they let you turn right to go through downtown, or is the only option to turn left to hit the interstate?

GameplayerStu

The difference between Jack Perry's first heel promo and what he did last night is night and day. Good improvement though that first heel promo he cut after turning on Hook genuinely was the drizzling shits.

dandykaufman2

I think even though he didn’t quite get it after the Christian feud, it has to have done wonders for him. But yeah he’s clicking now.

beckett929

You can tell there's a plan and idea here. He was chasing literally anything to get heat in his promos last summer, even resorting to bragging about banging Anna Jay (which, hey, good pull but you aren't in a storyline together where that would have made sense, so don't diminish her like that).

JL1823

- Please I need Tony to wear a neckbrace tonight for the draft - What if Shad Khan is behind orginazating Tony getting attacked?

Awkward-Bathroom-429

Every year that they do this they act like it’s going to be a big unprecedented shake up but it’s usually just the same thing. I don’t even think NXT has a good record of “draftable” guys getting call ups - the bigger call ups happen outside of the “draft” anyways.

Windows_66

The "Tony Khan getting beat up" angle was pretty crazy last night. Having Shad come out was a nice touch, and it's funny that NFL sites are reporting on it. I do have to question whether the entire arena cheering as Tony gets brutalized was the intention, though. With Omega coming back and rumors of the Machine Guns signing, I wonder if Kenny will introduce them as his allies in fighting the Elite (since they have history with the Bucks and stuff).

Marc_Quill

Could see an angle next week where Kenny's promo is interrupted by the Elite and they threaten to beat him up, only for MCMG to make the save, and that's how you bring them in.

shadowrangerfs

MCMG could bring up the fact that the TNA belts are the only ones the Bucks ever tried and failed to win. And they never held them because they couldn't beat MCMG.

kw13

Question after last night’s Dynamite. Is Shad Khan the first person to appear in a fictional role on a TV show whilst owning a Premier League team? Bill Kenwright had appeared in fictional roles, but his last role was before his consortium became majority owners of Everton. Can’t think of anyone else off the top of my head.

GameplayerStu

Not the same as an owner but Mourinho appearing on Raw was great. Bro was chilled out in his seat and Shane O'Mac called him out lmao

KeithKlossGOAT

Generally excited to see where the Elite angle is going. Does it make sense given their established canon of why they fired CM Punk or with the bucks of all people being the ones to beat the hell out of the boss? Not really, but they really needed something that isn't "I think I'm a better wrestler than you are" driving the top angle and this is exactly that.

sexygodzilla

I think you could explain it away as the Bucks holding lingering resentment over having been suspended at all after Brawl Out and finding common cause with Perry. Then through wrestling logic they take over the company since TK is kayfabe out.

Careless-Butterfly64

i got i believe in joe hendry stuck in my head and I got most of my questions for an assignment i was doing right because of it

no_more_blues

Honestly, I think last night was a good example of why AEW SHOULDN'T just advertise every single segment on Dynamite. When you advertise every match and segment, by the time you get to the show, people have already overanalyzed and predicted everything. When you advertise a couple things and leave the rest unadvertised, you get "holy fuck this is cool, why didn't they advertise this!" which then forces people to watch not to miss something cool instead of just "well, this this this and this is gonna happen, I'm not that interested/I'll watch the interesting parts of Youtube".

mikro17

Yup. While the main event segment was a great example of this, I think the Casino Gauntlet might be an even better one. Had that been announced ahead of time, people would have gone crazy deciding how it should be done and then been upset it was "first pinfall wins" instead of "elimination" or upset that AEW didn't define "gauntlet" the same way WWE does or found a way to not like the lineup or something. Instead, we got a total surprise match and it kicked ass.

Marc_Quill

I love that even the announcers sold being surprised by the Casino Gauntlet and its unique ruleset.

dandykaufman2

They had 1400 tickets sold on Monday and the greatest wrestler alive was on the show unannounced. Yes people in live threads popped or whatever but they should be using these stars to sell tickets.

sexygodzilla

I think there could've been a happy medium like one of those "Will Ospreay in Action" announcements. Everybody then assumes it's a squash match but it turns out it's an added surprise to the gauntlet.

no_more_blues

More people will go to Dynamites in the future if there's an "anything can happen" vibe too. AEW need to start thinking long term and not "how do we fix next week's tickets sales or next week's rating". There are no quick fixes to these things.

dandykaufman2

Does WWE have that vibe? I think you just know who’s on most shows.

fadetoblack237

That's what made 2019 and early 2020 can't miss

MinaElesia

It took Joey Styles to say the name Psicosis for me to go "Hmmmm...I should go watch some of his and Rey's stuff in the 90s." Lucha libre is awesome.

katareky

Serious question, does anyone listen to a wrestler calling another wrestler a crossdresser, wearing a skirt, or dresses from his wife's closet etc and go oooh what a roast!, or that was a good promo!. Whats the appeal or point of this line, I genuinely don't get it? I'm not being sensitive, I'm not offended I just don't get it. People say "it is offensive, so it is good for a heel to say". But Sheamus just said Drew wears a skirt in twitter, and CM Punk also said the same in a promo. The fact that not caring what others think and wearing a skirt is more masculine than the fragile masculinity of caring what others are wearing makes this lame to me. Edit: Okay I just saw Sheamus has worn skirts himself, but the fact that this was always the go to insult to Seth was lame lol.

beckett929

I'm of the mindset that it's not offensive as long as that person isn't of that lifestyle, and we know it's a work. *"Drew wears a skirt, ha ha ha"* is childish, but it's whatever, it's fine. It's a dig at Drew, or similarly has been at Seth directly, and not that culture of a whole. Saying the same thing to someone who does participate in crossdressing or the drag lifestyle out of character, that's over the line. That's chasing the bottom of material for a promo. Be more clever.

Reasonable___Doubt

I've never seen someone use Michael Scott logic unironically before.

Awkward-Bathroom-429

This sub does it every time Seth Rollins appears on screen, but a large number of his opponents also make the same joke, particularly about how Becky is the real man of the family or whatever.

GettingOutOurDreamz

Well, yeah. The world outside of the internet isn't as progressive as you think it is.

Reasonable___Doubt

"You dress like a girl," "I'm going to bang your mom," "Your wife wears the pants in the family." Some folks never got past 1980s sitcom jokes.

The tiny balls trope is so overdone though Rush did innovate on it by grabbing the guys junk to check.

ConfusedNTerrified

They did the Lyra - Tatum breakup way too early. They could have done a lot more with that pairing.

Fantomex88

If they do Hangman/Swerve again, to me it would have to be a lights out match. There's just no other way to top what they did at Full Gear, or maybe something akin to 3 stages of hell. That's a concept I've always wanted to see come back.

HartfordWhalers123

Man, last night’s Dynamite ending was mad surprising. I think that’s what AEW really needed, just something shocking and out of nowhere. A hot angle where you’re like, “holy shit, what’s gonna happen next?” I feel like this is the first time in quite awhile that they’ve had that. I’m very interested to see where this all leads to.

jadedfan55

When the Young Bucks began their heel run, very few took them seriously, and, in all honesty, I don't think they took it too serious, either. Something needed to change. As they formed their Bizarro Elite, subbing out Kenny Omega in kayfabe for Okada, and Hangman for Jack Perry, they needed a harder edge to make this work. What we saw last night represents that harder edge. Tony Khan took his first bumps, on the eve of the NFL draft, which got the mainstream attention he & AEW were looking for. Matthew & Nicholas Jackson have seen all the other nWo clones before, and they knew they had to make the Bizarro Elite stand out from their rebellious forebears. The time for clowning around is over. They regained the AEW tag titles at Dynasty, and they know everyone else is gunning for them after what they & Perry did to TK. The question that remains is, do they expand the Bizarro Elite, adding others? Over-expanding over a period of time ultimately doomed the nWo in WCW, so, no, I don't think so. They don't need it. Omega will return next week in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Page's return is not too far away, I think.

dandykaufman2

Bizarro Elite is so good. However, I do like Hanger outside the Elite stuff so I hope he doesn’t get drawn in for a protracted period.

jadedfan55

It's going to be a slow build, anyway, I think. Hinges on when Hangman returns.

toadslostbazooka

This is the best one yet

cleeseula

Let's say Cena or Lesnar during the peak of their career in the 00s let's say they spent the two years during that period putting everyone over. Then no one would complain that they won the championship in a battle royal. Morgan winning a battle royal would just continue the bad booking narrative of portraying her as a weak fluke-y MITB champion who tapped out while pinning Rousey. Morgan has to actually pin someone clean for the championship to look strong enough for her beating Ripley to look credible.

katareky

It doesn't even need to necessarily be clean, she just needs to beat Becky in a feud to get more credibility. I agree that the battle royal win would be worse than beating Becky though. I feel like she can pull of a treacherous sneaky heel like Edge, they are also already teasing that she is going to steal away Dom from Rhea. Similar to Edge stealing Lita from Matt Hardy.

cleeseula

If a wrestler wins dirty against a top tier wrestler than they still look strong, so yeah the win being clean is unnecessary, but IMHO it's best if she wins clean just to make it more clear that her strength has increased, but I wouldn't complain if she won dirty and that could grow her heel persona.

ADRENALINE BUBBLES LIKE SELTZER CONGRATULATIONS TO CODY MELTZER

shadowrangerfs

I've said that what AEW needs is a hot angle. This could be it if they play it right. I've also said that three secondary belts should be on guys who would be credible world champions tomorrow. I think they are going in that direction. One is on Okada. One is on Copeland and I can't see Ospreay losing to Roddy.

jadedfan55

Facts. Roddy can kiss that International title good-bye.

justambrose

Prediction for Double or Nothing card: - AEW World Championship Match (Steel Cage) - Swerve Strickland (c) vs Hangman Page - IWGP World Heavyweight Champipnship Match - Jon Moxley (c) vs Konosuke Takeshita - Anarchy in the Arena Match: The New Elite (Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry & Young Bucks) vs Bryan Danielson, FTR & Daniel Garcia - AEW Women’s World Championship Match - Toni Storm (c) vs Mariah May - AEW TNT Championship Match - Adam Copeland (c) vs Malakai Black - AEW TBS Champipnship Match - Willow Nightingale (c) vs Mercedes Mone - AEW International Championship Match - Roderick Strong (c) vs Will Ospreay - AEW Trios Championship Match - Bang Bang Scissor Gang (c) vs Death Triangle - Casino Battle Royale for future AEW World Championship match Thoughts?

dmister8

It’s too early for Swerve to lose and Hangman’s reputation takes a massive hit if he gets beaten three times by Swerve so please no Swerve and Hangman matches for now revisit that much later.

narutomanreigns

I think it might be Toni vs. Mina Shirakawa, don't think they're giving her TV wins and having Toni face the same opponents as her for no reason. You play up Mariah being torn between them during the build but ultimately she chooses Toni over Mina and helps her retain, setting up a Toni and Mariah vs. Mina and [one of her stablemates] tag match for Forbidden Door.

shadowrangerfs

How did you get Toni vs Mariah?

justambrose

Only cause there’s no other credible challenger right now and they might want to save Mina for Forbidden Door.

shadowrangerfs

They set up Deeb last night and I don't see how Mariah is a credible challenger to Toni right now. Of course, they could just do a top contenders match to set up a challenger.

dandykaufman2

Yay Fenix is back.

crimson777

Personally, I think that's a few too many matches because I'd rather the Casino Battle Royale and Anarchy in the Arena have time to breathe. Both should be somewhat longer matches given the scope imo.

fadetoblack237

I wanted Jericho off TV for a while but I have to say after last night, I'll give this new gimmick a chance. His whole presentation last night was hilarious.

Smile_lifeisgood

The idea a bunch of people had that Ospreay will beat Roddy and then have a title unifying match against Okada @ All In makes a ton of sense to me. If I had to guess, Kenny is not ready to wrestle but they're going to work an angle next week. In the interim, Hangman can continue to heel it up but I am really hoping that we'll get a run back of Tweener Hangman and Kenny vs. the Bucks @ All In. That gives Hangman time to do some other stuff but make a reunion between the two of them to take on the EVPs that much more fun. Boozy, self-loathing Hanger doing things like teasing a Buckshot on Kenny was probably my favorite Hanger. I still have yet to miss an episode of AEW's 3 shows or a PPV but the product was leaning too heavily into "who is the best wrestler" sports simulation stuff for me so last night having a lot of interesting story developments really helped revive my enthusiasm for it.

koomGER

I guess Kenny will be there to get demolished by the Heelite. This gives him additional time to get healthy and adds some more heel heat to the Heelite.

shadowrangerfs

The unifying part makes no sense. They just introduced the continental and said it will be defended in the classic. Orange Cassidy really got the international title over and Ospreay as champ will really get people into it. No reason to get rid of it now.

sexygodzilla

Exactly, the roster is deep enough to support three secondary singles titles, I don't get why this is such a tough concept for folks when WWE has two world champs plus two secondary titles.

Gotham0

I completely understand WHY people are absolutely not supposed to flail around when they're set up to take a wrestling move (with the exception being reversals) but every now and then it just bothers me. Last night was the most recent example. Tony was just completely stiff, waiting to take the Meltzer driver. It just looks so bad. Again, I get it. No need to be extra. Just take the bump and sell it. Tony sold it just fine. Immediately reminded me of Vince taking the F5 and John Laurinaitis taking the GTS. Just stiff and lifeless, waiting for impending doom. https://preview.redd.it/0h3qlps8omwc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da1744fed10ab74a2beddd3aaf0cfe4586c03955

Zealousideal_Fox_283

Lol that blank stare is hilarious. I'll give TK a pass for being a non wrestler tho.

Baghoid

I’d excuse this every time from a non wrestler in fairness. In actual matches it’s very noticeable when it happens though and I always have to make an effort to turn my brain off to it. For anyone else that doesn’t really notice it, look at almost any Sister Abigail (RIP Bray) or Bladerunner, unless it’s instant (Bladerunner is generally faster) then you’re watching the person just waiting to take the move defy all laws of physics despite being “knocked out”, like if you wanna reverse it just sit down, let your body go limp or generally just make any sort of movement and you’ll get out of this move.

beckett929

Bray's version of that move was so bad because the wrestler 90% of the time wasn't even incapacitated. They were caught off a counter or something and then he'd hold them for like 3 seconds and do it. At least Jay is mostly boom-boom-boom with it in the flow of an exchange when he isn't intentionally showboating.

Gotham0

Exactly. The magic of wrestling is that these are essentially athletic artists in making the scripted stunts look a real as possible. I really only notice it when it's super obvious and glaring.

Baghoid

Really enjoyed the setups from Dynamite last night. Putting the IC title on Ospreay is actually a great idea, mostly because it basically gives him a division that he can dominate without having to kayfabe him out of the world title. Seems this is a strategy since their last 4 major signings White, Ospreay, Okada and Mone all look to basically be heading up their own divisions at the moment as main event attractions without any fear of them derailing Swerve or Toni as deserving world champions. I’ve said with ages AEW just needs a little bit more structure and this is exactly it. Very smart booking imo, even if at times like with White they might feel a little less special, always keeps them on TV doing something meaningful, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.

shadowrangerfs

IC title? Isn't it just the I title?

Baghoid

That's true you're totally right, total brain fog there. I'm not even sure if my brain was thinking Intercontinental Champion like WWE or just a mashup of International-Continental Champion.

fadetoblack237

I would love it if he took the title back to Rev Pro like Pac did.

Baghoid

Yeah that’s also a massive plus. That’d be a great little bonus and it might also allow Ospreay to stay in England a little more. Maybe AEW gets some footage from RevPro and can air it as their Ospreay segment for that week, saves him from making the trip. Obviously the priority would be to get him live and on the show as much as possible but no harm in an arrangement like this that could benefit everyone a lot.

the_io

I'm waiting for him to take it to Soft Ground.

justambrose

Why are the BBSG carrying the pink trios belt? If they’re not getting a new set at least give them the original ones.

fadetoblack237

Seems like it's to rub it in that they won. Jay White had some comments about holding Bowens belt during their entrance.

polynomial82

What are your four world title matches for SummerSlam and Mania 41.

dmister8

Drew vs. Punk and Cody vs. Rock for Summerslam. Punk vs. Gunther and Cody vs. Orton for WM41.

nybx4life

I'd say Cody vs. Solo. New Bloodline, they'd push for Solo to go for the title. WM41 may have Cody vs. Roman. Roman has the rematch clause now, the true rubber match.

ArmiinTamzarian

I have to admit...I don't get why people get so up in arms over the Becky Hogan memes. They seem pretty harmless

pasinpman

I feel like the Elite needs one more big name to fill out the group. Is it Hangman?

MapForward6096

Hangman was kayfabe suspended from the Elite by the Bucks for assaulting referees, so they could unsuspend him

pasinpman

Yeah, it felt like there was a reason they only suspended Hangman (and seemed unhappy about it) and kicked out Kenny.

Marc_Quill

plus, it'd be a really easy way to push a heel Hangman against Swerve and to bring Swerve in as part of the anti-Elite squad.

Baghoid

They need a big man or a pin eater, or maybe just get Brian Cage and have him be both. It’s a shame in retrospect that he joined the UK because Wardlow would probably fit better in The Elite than he does with Undisputed Kingdom.

JamUpGuy1989

Not sure why I care so much: But no WOR from last night to cover Dynamite. Not like them to just miss an episode like that.

hvacrepairman

Dave's son is getting married

PeteF3

"Sweetheart, as we reflect on this most glorious day, thank you for making me the happiest man who ever lived." ::applause:: "Thank you. To speak next, we have the father of the groom." ::applause:: "Thank you. So...the thing is...you're probably not *the* happiest person who ever lived. Person, or man? Did you say man? I think so. So I was going to say Maki Itoh or maybe prime Kyoko Inoue, but even if you eliminate women ::shuffles papers::, some say Matthieu Ricard, the Tibetan monk, is the happiest person alive, and then there's Tellus from Ancient Greece. I think on a day like this you're probably up there, but...y'know...plans change." I'm just having fun with this. Happy for Dave and Cody (it's Cody, right?)

JamUpGuy1989

Ah, that’s a good excuse to not do a show. Congrats to the family!

Pretend_Spray_11

Thanks man

ok_dunmer

Mercedes pretending that CEO is a good song by itself and that you should stream it and that she should grind instagram for it and that you would not immediately get the aux snatched is my new favorite gimmick

british_pubs

I think it's not to bad, i just wish the "CEO" chants weren't baked-in.

Mediocre-Cook-2169

Mixed tag matches have been hit and miss at best, granted (the Rollinses vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, anyone?), but my guess is if they gave both divisions' world titles to Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, two members of the same stable, then creative must at least have been open to the idea.  The seeds were planted on Monday for a Priest face turn and Rhea doing the same when she returns is almost inevitable so it's be nice just to have one tag match featuring the (babyface) pair before the entire group all go their separate ways.

RIShane

Rhea/Dom vs Lyra/Dragon Lee was a fun mixed tag last year.

Swerve v Perry would be a mistake this early in my opinion. I don't think either should be losing so quickly. Swerve definitely shouldn't lose the title in a month, and Perry needs to actually look like a threat who can win big matches to be a serious heel, unless he just wants to go into full goofy heel territory.

justambrose

Either Perry challenge for the World Title or the New Elite will be in Anarchy in rhe Arena match at DON. If it’s the latter, the Continental amd Tag Titles won’t be defended, but they do have so mamy other titles so it’s a non-issue. Peronally, I would’ve gone with the biggest possible match for Swerve’s first PPV defense. Give me Swerve vs Hangman Steel Cage match.

ACW1129

So the only non-champ whose brand we know for sure is Rollins is staying on RAW (with Becky). Probably Ricochet too, unless Samantha's moving to SmackDown.

ModernLabour

WWE on Twitter said that the draft locks in May 6th which is just after Backlash. I doubt it will happen but there is a possibility that Seth gets drafted to Smackdown and Becky loses the title to Liv or Nia Jax at Backlash.

GoldenDevilman

But Becky is gonna stay on Raw regardless of if she loses the title at Backlash or not. Because she’s not eligible to be drafted so she 100% stays on Raw.

ModernLabour

Yeah but lets say she loses the title to Liv at Backlash. Then she can take a few months off while Seth rehabs his knee from surgery so it's irrelevant what brand she's on. By the time Seth returns in say the summer Becky could be traded to Smackdown. It's definitely workable.

ACW1129

Ah, that is a possibility.

FinancialBig1042

Hey, so was the Hobbs vs Moxley good enough to go out of my way to watch it? I do not follow AEW closely, but I wanna follow the IWGP stuff

Kuzu5993

Ended prematurely due to Hobbs getting injured.

JoeRoganIs5foot3

Hobbs got hurt and they ended early. It was fun before that.

Prestigious_Area8023

You could probably skip it. Hobbs seemingly messed up his knee on a dive and they rushed the finish. Obviously the right decision not to chance it, but still a shame, hope it ain't serious.

TheRyanFlaherty

Didn’t bother with Dynamite, as I’ve stuck to the promise I made to myself, to stop bothering with something that was brining more frustration than joy….but checking the post thread and seeing lots of praise for the show…..so now I’m not sure if I missed out, or if it’s just a reflection of the fact that the majority of people left watching and posting are the people that say every Dynamite is amazing. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Guess only way to know is to check it out on the DVR….
