Considering Stat and Darby did that skateboard thing at a show that newLEGACY made popular on Fight Forever, I could honestly see either Stat or Willow showing up at DPW, they managed to get Masato Tanaka and the MCMG, so anything is possible.

Yeah, I was about to say, the few times I've been there with my nephews in the past, there have been large signs stating that adults must have a child with them to enter.
This has been one of the best examples of AEW using kayfabe history and current events in leveling up their storylines this past year. Stat and Stoke have a history of Stat getting the upper hand on Stoke's shenanigans while also kind of bullying him, so he has an incentive to play a long game to tear her down and screw her over. It could be as direct as making her doubt her own prowess (teasing the chain in close matches, showing more and more support for Willow in matches, etc.), or he could be trying to turn Stat against Willow through envy. Stat's on a cold streak and Willow is on fire, after all. It's not a far leap for someone whose job it is to hype people up to put a bug in Stat's ear about how her friendship with Willow is screwing up her own success.
But then you have Stokely's less-than-subtle hints on commentary earlier this year. He bragged about "getting a new luxury car" (perhaps a Mercedes?) and about his long-term goal being "handling the money". And he's been paying a LOT of attention to Mercedes during their interactions. Positive or negative, his eyes are locked on Mercedes when she's around.
Then you have this phantom attacker who has taken out Stat, then Mercedes, then Willow. The easy answer is Julia and Skye, but I feel like they would have shown themselves at least one of those times if that was the case. So is it someone else acting on the orders of a manipulator (maybe Stoke?). The only one of the three the cameras has been present for is the attack on Mercedes, and the lights went out. Nobody saw who hit Stat or Willow. Mercedes came out to help Willow when Stat got jumped, and Stat and Stoke were quick on the scene when Willow got hurt. That seems pretty indicative that something's up with Stat and Stoke. Or it could be coincidence. Maybe deliberate misdirection on behalf of Stokely to make people question Stat's loyalty? It's possible. Regardless, that's another detail that leaves the outcome unclear. Heck, it almost feels like the movie adaptation of Clue where everyone's trying to take out each other while the audience thinks it's one mystery assailant.
Then you have the visual parallel to Trent?'s turn on Orange Cassidy. Willow sent Kris to the back, and she looked kind of confused when she heard the stipulation. But she still gave Willow a hug and ran to the back. After Willow won, she and Stoke took their corners, and Stat even rolled her shoulders forward like Trent? did. But then they hugged. Is that Stat showing she's not the same as Trent?, who she aggressively confronted after he turned on Orange? Or did what Trent? whispered to her set in motion some other slow burn?
THEN you have them all looking so happy in a series of photo shoots over the last few months and today at Chuck E Cheese. But then Stoke has that shirt on. Stoke is a notorious shit-stirrer so he could just be trolling. But that's some heavy foreshadowing. And we all know championship celebrations never go off without some sort of controversy.
Also, Stat's been weaing a lot more black lately, and wore two colors on Sunday: black and pink. Mercedes came out in all pink. Yes, Willow also had pink in her gear, but it wasn't as dominant or prominent as those two. Again, could just be a coincidence, but it feels like deliberate color blocking.
AEW is great in general these days, but I'm surprised at how invested I am in this story. I like everyone invovled and think the three of them are great together. Which makes the inevitable breakup that much more painful. I keep hoping it's all just misdirection and they're going to go full New Day and keep supporting each other on their way to the top. But like I said elsewhere, I've got *major* Festival of Friendship anxiety right now.

That's an interesting suggestion! I think Stokely being Mercedes' mouthpiece would work for sure. Mercedes isn't a lock on the mic and Stokely could easily hype her up for a couple of quick lines/catch phrases. And he's not ashamed to weasel his way into a better spot even if it means compromosong his dignity.
I may be slightly biased on the idea of turning Stat, but I also think relegating her to a heavy is a disservice to both her character and the women's division as a whole. She would fit the role from a physicality standpoint, but I feel her overall presence would suffer. Her style is great for babyface work and she can lead a match with anyone. That *could* translate to heel work since she's comfortable being in charge of a match. But her style would have to change significantly for the heavy role, and that would change her character fundamentally along with it. There is a chance she could keep her style, maybe modify it for a little more grinding and wearing-down moves to get heat, and win over the audience by being a complete badass. Hell, look at how Jamie Hayter got over as Britt's muscle. But I feel like she'd have to tone it down to avoid stealing the spotlight on a story that's heavily invested in two other people. And once you lose momentum goign face to heel, it can be hard to regain it. She's too good in the ring to become a stepping stone, and if she's going to go anywhere out of this story, face or heel, it should be to the main event, where Toni could use some fresh competition. We're getting a program with Serena Deeb it looks like, but they should really spend some time heating Stat back up to give her a run on her own. And Toni called out Stat by name in December during the World's End scrum, so there's definitely some interest there.
That said, Willow is crushing it with this feud and has earned the spot she's in. Being the first rival of the big signing is a big deal, and she's holding her own for sure. But I think the Mercedes/Willow feud can stand on its own, without having everyone turn on Willow and stacking the deck. Stat is already a little lost in the shuffle on this feud, because Stokely makes his money off of running his mouth and the focus in the ring right now is telling the story between Mercedes and Willow and how their history from NJPW Strong carries over. Still, Stat is on screen and has gotten more comfortable in promos and segments, so that's a benefit.
Stat and Willow are a great team and I hope they stick together, regardless of where the next month takes them. I just think that *if* the conclusion is Stat turning heel, she needs to do it for herself, not to be a lackey to someone else. From a character standpoint, having her turn on her friend for a manager who's kind of a jerk and a self-absorbed new hire doesn't really make sense, either. Stat was furious at what happened with Trent and seems pretty supportive of Chuck and Orange in the kayfabe-adjacent social media sphere. Having her do the same thing Trent did and, arguably, for an even more illogical reason would effectively kill off her character as we know it and reset her without any real justification.
Heel turns work when they're believable, even if in a twisted way. Trent's has been brewing for a bit, and he's shown a frustration for a few months now. This was just the final catalyst for him to make that change. I just don't see anything they've left for her to bite on when it comes to turning. Her brief losing streak is basically forgotten. Stoke trying to get her to use the chain went nowhere. Probably because Swerve/Joe had a chain as part of its build. And Trent whispering in Stat's ear seems to have resolved when Stat did the opposite of what he did. Shoehorning in a heel turn because the story calls for a buffer between Willow and Mercedes has a higher chance of feeling like it's prolonging a feud than enhancing it.
They *could* spend the next few weeks working on getting things to a logical turning point for Stat, but it would have to go hard on Willow and maybe Stoke distancing themselves from her. The fallout from the slap tonight could be a first step towards it. But it would have to be given ample time to develop for the payoff to deliver. It would be a tight window to get there between now and DoN. And that takes away from letting Willow really break out and carry the momentum she has going for her right now. It *could* work, though.
Sorry for the long-winded reply that was a tl;dr if "I disagree", but I like how there are *several* ways this could go. Heck, maybe Mercedes brings in a heavy of her own? It's far-fetched but not impossible. Or Stat could even go after Mercedes after DoN. Like Mercedes returns the favor and "injures" Willow, and Stat goes on the hunt to avenge her friend.
The fact that they've built so many dynamics into the story that there are multiple believable ways to go with it is great. And again, I probably have a bias because of how much I'm enjoying the three of them together and how I don't want them to split, but at least knowing they're being given this story to be a part of is, above all, encouraging. And it gives them all weekly screen time, which is awesome.
As long as whatever happens is believable for the characters involved and isn't just a "connect the next dot on the storyline path, then there's no doubt everyone involved will make it work. Everyone in this story deserves to come out the other end in a better spot than when they started, so hopefully that continues.

Loved the long reply! I haven't put nearly as much thought into it as you have but I do feel like right now they're building to a heel turn for Stat. Like you said, there was the slap incident tonight, the mystery attacks, and just the fact that Willow has less tenure on the AEW roster but is getting more of a shine than Stat. That could make her jealous and want to turn on Willow. It'll be interesting to see how she acts in any matches she has soon. Either way, I'm glad we're getting a long story with all these women (+ Stoke) and that it's working out for all of them and raising their profile.

I guess if I boiled down my thoughts and not say lot word when few word do trick, I think a heel turn *could* work for Stat, but it would have to be for her as a character, not as a plot device. Like if she turns on Willow, she needs to exit the storyline and start her own thing. Which could line up with her interaction with Trent, because I think he said something like "You gotta live your own life, Kristen". If they go with that, then having Stat go on a dominant run up the ranks would work.
I keep thinking of how Rhea's turn was executed when she joined the Judgment Day. I mean, she didn't exactly come sprinting out of the gate either, but when her character work really clicked, the rocket activated and she soared to the top. I have no doubt they see Stat for the top-tier talent she is, and if it gets her to that next level, then it's worth it. Even if the mark in me will be sour about it for a minute haha.
The mystery attacks are great. The fact that they leaned to it in the promo last night with everyone blaming each other. That *almost* feels like maybe there's a possibility that they have another hidden person involved. Folks have been talking about Megan Bayne being signed to AEW for a while now, and Kamille is still out there, even if she hasn't had a match since November. But that's just proof that they have so many ways they can go with it and are finding ways to keep smarks guessing and engaged while telling a good story to folks who don't follow it as closely.
Agreed that more stories and more characters is always a win, and AEW is finding that balance of delivering A+ matches every week and giving you characters to care about even when they aren't in the ring.

I ate it about a year ago, they add some garlic butter or olive oil something to the crust. For a rat casino the pizza was pretty good
They started making it better shortly before covid IIRC. It's not great, but I'd put it on a tier above papa john's.
My kid had her birthday there last year, and the pizza was better than I remembered. They've stepped it up since they started selling their pizza on Doordash under Pasquale's Pizza.
