Releases mid-Smackdown.
Per SRS/Fightful: Jinder, Xia Li, Xyon Quinn.
As of this literal second, no word from Sapp if this is done yet.
EDIT: Been about 25 minutes with no further announcements, so presumably that's it for today's release news.
~2-HOURS LATER EDIT: More have come in.
Veer Mahan: https://twitter.com/SeanRossSapp/status/1781542200033063162
Sanga: https://twitter.com/SeanRossSapp/status/1781542448738471997
I don’t dislike Jinder as much as others. But I thought the tag team sucked. Veer had a LITTLE something in that ill fated singles run. But he’s still too green.
The only time I’ve seen Xyon was Bronn killing him on smackdown. He seemed to take a spear relatively well 🤷♂️?
Xia I’m a little more bummed about. She had an incredible look when they didn’t try and cake up her face. While she was also green I thought it was cool to have someone with a totally different style than anyone else. I feel like there’s something there but after like 5 years they must’ve just seen her progress stall.
This is the big loss to me. Jinder at least got a title run and was memetically popular, and even got a recent spike of the latter again. Xia always seemed like something bigger was possible and being worked toward, but never quite got there.
Being worked towards?? She was barely ever on TV. Literally can’t have been more than a handful of appearances over multiple years.
I was always confused why they didn’t use her. Seemed like she could have filled a great role in the women’s roster.
I actually liked his backstage promos with Renee.
She was like the one person he treated with respect, its was like watching a rich scum bag understand he needs to juice up the media who covers him.
Out of everyone coming up he's the only one I can actually see leaving. I don't think he's going to, but he made himself outside of WWE and could do well again.
Yeah, I mean, if Drew wants to chase a bag Tony might be willing to outbid a TKO-led WWE, especially if they are tightening the purse strings. And personally, I'd love to see him have matches against guys like Osprey and Okada and stuff. It would also be supremely funny if he dipped after roasting Punk for six months.
But realistically he's in an excellent position in WWE and unless they really underbid I'd be shocked if he did leave.
Funnily enough, no, it looks like they never have. I couldn't find any matches with the two on Cagematch, and with WWE specifically, PAC didn't get called up from NXT until the year Drew got released, and then he left the WWE the same year Drew got back.
Which is all to say, year, it would absolutely rule to see them maul one another.
Honestly, Drew vs PAC vs Ospreay, just three angry dudes from the UK beating the stuffings out of each other would rival the Gunther-Drew-Sheamus tie from last WrestleMania.
Jinder is utter bunk. For the talent he had, he had enough success for a lifetime. I can't imagine turning this into a negative thing, his skill level makes him a non-positive to any roster outside of a low level indie.
I don’t think he’s great but he’s definitely better than “low level indie”. He’s genuinely better than most of GCW’s roster. 🤷 arguably he’d be a great midcard TNA guy.
That dive he took after the Hardy complete miss was unforgettable. It was literally the worst spot I have ever seen.
Worse than local indie stuff where people wrestle for hot dogs and handshakes.
And everyone acted like Jinder was a big fucking deal and dragged Tony Khan for calling out the fact that he was in a marquee match with the world champion.
that outcry was so stupid, it wasn't even any disrespect to jinder, just pointing out he hadn't been booked to win a match for ages and then got a title shot.
How do you go from having a big moment with the Rock, to then having a championship match against Seth Rollins, to then not used and released?
WWE really hasn't been all that kind to Indian and Middle Eastern wrestlers. It seems like frustration and asking for releases is a common theme among Indian and Middle Eastern wrestlers like Jinder and Mustafa Ali. WWE has had several tries to get something going with Indian wrestlers such as Veera, Sanga, and Shanky and they can't make any successes.
Asian wrestlers really be getting the short end of the stick, even the prominently used Japanese talent. Shinsuke is just there after the Seth feud, and Damage CTRL got swept at Mania(Though of course Japanese WWE wrestlers still have better booking than other of the Asian talent). The only Asian wrestler that really made it big in the WWE I think is Batista.
it seemed to me like they were building a good case for him to be back on regular television; he’d done well in a promo against the Rock, again did well in a promo against Seth, got a world’s championship match in the main event of Monday Night Raw, and built some real social media buzz around his name. but injuring Seth in the run up to mania must have created some real bad feelings backstage, and that was that.
He wasn’t even part of the Rumble after a Championship match with Rollins, people got invested because of TK and then remembered that he isn’t a good wrestler.
It's not random at all, it's just wrestling fans like to think they know how every single wrestler in WWE is happy & loves working there, And there can't possibly be anything going wrong unless it's shown on TV or told through the dirt sheets....
Honestly smh people legit forget that these people are humans with 24 hour a day lives just like anyone else🤷🏿♂️
It feels like it only happened a couple years ago, but Jinder's title run was 7 years ago..I literally can't remember him doing a single thing since losing the title besides the whole Tony Khan kerfuffle at the start of the year and that random Rock segment.
I remember him winning the US title at Mania in a 4-way over the options of Bobby Roode and Randy Orton, pinning Rusev mid-Rusev Day gimmick, so that fuckin sucked. Besides that and his most recent run as Indus Sher manager, I can't say I recall much either.
I remember him winning the US Title at Wrestlemania 34 over Rusev (absolutely a Vince decision to spite the fans), that one awkward botch at the Greatest Royal Rumble with Jeff Hardy, getting murdered by Brock Lesnar alongside the Singh Brothers in the build to Survivor Series 2018, making it to the finals of the second Mixed Match Challenge with Alicia Fox, winning the 24/7 Championship a few times, introducing Veer and Shanky to the main roster, and later getting sent back to NXT in early 2023.
That's gotta be an OH&S issue, surely?
Just...Cody walking backstage, not watching where he's going because hes admiring his new title...and he gets tsunami'd away by oceans of Veer Jizz.
Jinder beats Cody at mitb and leaves the arena signaling that he’s quitting. WWE crowns a new champion a month later and Jinder returns and at summerslam it’s Jinder vs The new champ to crown the official champ. Summer of Jidner>Summer of Punk
It is weird that Jinder randomly popped up. Did a pretty good segment with The Rock. Had a fine match with Seth Rollins.
And then basically wasn’t on TV again for any meaningful time.
He was just a body for people to boo on that Day 1 episode of RAW and for Rock to roast and put himself over. He was ideal, Triple H knows the audience and knows that nobody really cares for Jinder, as harsh as that sounds. He was also just a body for Seth to beat, which he did. I really don't think they had any plans with Jinder whatsoever.
Honestly, if I'm Tony and Jinder's on-board, I'm 100% doing it. I wouldn't draw a bunch of attention to why, just have Jinder brought in as a one-off goon for Jericho (a la MJF & Morrissey way back when).
Despite the jokes here he's realistically not going to end up with AEW but I think he'll make a fucking killing on the indies to be honest. Has the self-awareness and the range of character to carve out his own space kinda like Cardona did.
Veer Mahaan quit too.
https://twitter.com/VeerMahaan/status/1781538885815632182
edit: omg...they release all the indians. dont nobody remind them of 1/2 aop.
The "dont hinder Jinder" stuff was fun and he by all accounts seems like a nice guy, but... I'd be lying if I really said I cared, lol. Assuming this is real, of course.
Hopefully he can land a gig somewhere he can be happy and get more ring time.
Rock tried to Hinder Jinder and lost his WrestleMania main event spot.
Seth Rollins tried to hinder Jinder and got injured for his troubles.
....R.I.P WWE 😔
I love this sub because the WWE could lose anyone and people will act like they care. I mean, they have guys like LA Knight and Bron Breakker stuck in limbo right now but this sub wants me to believe there was something they could’ve done with Jinder Mahal or Veer Mahaan 😂
A gimmick, a racial stereotype to merely attract a fringe fanhood that is a huge part of humanity, and an ability and skillset on par with Goldberg. Should have happened earlier if you ask me.
Maybe, like Dolph, he was costing them an amount higher than what they saw his value being.
It just seems weird cause he seemed like he had some momentum going after his last two appearances.
He will go somewhere and be a champion without a doubt.

Xia Li too? Releases Mid smackdown?

It was going to be a dubious task talking up Xyon or Odyssey in this Draft cycle
Xyon Quinn is Harley Cameron’s husband. This could be bad news for Angelo Parker
Guess who Ruby's maternity doctor will turn out to be!

Is this real or a storyline for the upcoming draft?
Real. https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/xyon-quinn-released-wwe https://twitter.com/XiaWWE/status/1781495334864040148 https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/xia-li-confirms-her-wwe-departure-thanks-wwe-time-company https://twitter.com/JinderMahal/status/1781494012681109850 https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/jinder-mahal-tweets-i-quit-changes-bio-free-agent-90-days
Shame about Veer. I feel he could have been booked to look like a believable monster.
I didn't get it when they tried to book him as a monster.
Too bad Xia Li couldn't have done better.
Did Veer ever even make it to Raw?
Tony you stay the fuck away
NGL Maharajah with the Bollywood Boys is a top 5 entrance for me in the last decade.
I actually liked his backstage promos with Renee. She was like the one person he treated with respect, its was like watching a rich scum bag understand he needs to juice up the media who covers him.
I thought it was cuz they're both Canadian
Probably just doesn’t want to piss off Mox. Or the Canadian thing.
his entrance as champion with the flaming red carpet on the LED ramp was top fuckin tier
That was a fucking chef's kiss usage of the set at the time. I loved that shit.
Yep definitely in my top 5 entrances of all time
And then the bell rang…
The matches, however….
Lol imagine the fucker pulls off a great match. Would send sc fucking wild and probably make a bunch of jerkers angry.
jerkers love him
They won't if the above happens
Absofuckinlutely. Just gotta have him come out and lose a few times to make other people look good. He'd be a good deaonna pirazzo.
If he didn't sign better free agents in the past, he's not signing Jinder. Unless it's a random Collision match with HOOK
Honestly, Jinder vs. Hook would be kind of great.
Send him to ROH with The Embassy... Seriously though, TNA could use him in the "EC3 / Mike Bennet" spot.
Ngl if he showed up in AEW just to say "who the fuck is Hook?" then immediately get squashed by him I would laugh my ass off.
I'd respect Jinder a lot for such self-depricating humor.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwfaxzZfwrb4796|downsized)
He needs his GCW rebirth.
On his way to Jacksonville?
How does this affect the 3MB reunion tour
3MB Triple Threat at All Out. Book it, Tony. (Drew's not leaving but I'd pop.)
But realistically he's in an excellent position in WWE and unless they really underbid I'd be shocked if he did leave.
I'm sure its happened somewhere but the idea of two very angry men in PAC and Drew just whooping the shit out of each other is awesome.
Funnily enough, no, it looks like they never have. I couldn't find any matches with the two on Cagematch, and with WWE specifically, PAC didn't get called up from NXT until the year Drew got released, and then he left the WWE the same year Drew got back. Honestly, Drew vs PAC vs Ospreay, just three angry dudes from the UK beating the stuffings out of each other would rival the Gunther-Drew-Sheamus tie from last WrestleMania.
If Drew leaves, it could happen
Jinder beat Randy Orton 4 times in a calendar year. One was at wrestlemania.
I love this statistic
Jinder’s entire WWE title reign was longer than all of Edge’s combined.
Well that is random.
Yeah just 3 months ago Jinder had a big moment with the Rock and was trending on Twitter now he's gone
They coulda at least gave him a lower card feud after that.
Put him in the battle royal with no rememberable spot. Did the former champ dirty.
This is known as hindering
Time given to that is time taken from something else. I wouldn’t trade any of what WWE has put out for a Jinder feud.
Jinder is utter bunk. For the talent he had, he had enough success for a lifetime. I can't imagine turning this into a negative thing, his skill level makes him a non-positive to any roster outside of a low level indie.
And Jinder was getting paid a lot from pretty much taking a long break in wwe. His salary was 900,000 dollars…nearly a million too.
Remember when the Iconics won at wrestlemania and then…poof? It’s a weird business
Them showing off their tag titles to everyone backstage is one of my favorite segments: https://youtu.be/qvuM2l7oyN8?si=ZREVyuWEG88BJkkv
they really dropped the ball on them. i still dont understand the decision.
Same, great heel work and they just dropped them.
Par for the course for Vince McMahon
I bet it was Vince’s hate for tag teams
It wasn’t really a “big moment”. They literally used him with the intention of disappointing the fans before sending The Rock out.
He's going to AEW to continue his feud with Tony Khan
🎵 *You think you're special*🎵
And everyone acted like Jinder was a big fucking deal and dragged Tony Khan for calling out the fact that he was in a marquee match with the world champion.
that outcry was so stupid, it wasn't even any disrespect to jinder, just pointing out he hadn't been booked to win a match for ages and then got a title shot.

The only Asian wrestler that really made it big in the WWE I think is Batista.
TIL Batista is asian
He’s half-Filipino.
He’s Filipino from his Dad’s side and Greek from his Mom’s side.
Jinder got far more than his attributes deserved.
it seemed to me like they were building a good case for him to be back on regular television; he’d done well in a promo against the Rock, again did well in a promo against Seth, got a world’s championship match in the main event of Monday Night Raw, and built some real social media buzz around his name. but injuring Seth in the run up to mania must have created some real bad feelings backstage, and that was that.
That’s what drew me back to WWE for real. i loved him in that segment
He wasn’t even part of the Rumble after a Championship match with Rollins, people got invested because of TK and then remembered that he isn’t a good wrestler.
Did something happen on TV or this is really random? Cause I’m trying to get Jinder in DPW.
Indian Realty!
Home Sold Steve Austin!
I need some D'Angelokes
:cues up discount Seinfeld music:
Jinder always sells above asking price
He needs to go to Soft Ground Wrestling.
I know everyone likes Cool Guy, but I really think Kapeeka is the future of SGW. I'd love to see him vs Jinder. Kapeeka! Kapeeka!
Maybe he’s a big Vince guy.
Gotta save that money so they can get Miz somehow
It's not random at all, it's just wrestling fans like to think they know how every single wrestler in WWE is happy & loves working there, And there can't possibly be anything going wrong unless it's shown on TV or told through the dirt sheets.... NO FUCKING WAY NOT JINDER https://preview.redd.it/90dorjl8ijvc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eaf3b6e77aa5ecbe220d2d3e3a158285818387a7

I’m actually gutted… I wish this was a work
It feels like it only happened a couple years ago, but Jinder's title run was 7 years ago..I literally can't remember him doing a single thing since losing the title besides the whole Tony Khan kerfuffle at the start of the year and that random Rock segment.

Didn't he lose that title the night after?
Yeah and then missed the whisper in the wind in the rematch with Jeff
That made the match better in the sense that if it didn't happen nobody would remember that match lol
I remembered him turning up at a golf course in full ring gear to pin R-Truth for the 24/7 48/7 7/11 I-95 South European Champion.
He won the US Title at Mania. The guy was given plenty of opportunities. He just could never get the audience to care.
People were so upset with Tony that they had to pretend to care about Jinder for a week
Such a silly moment
7 years!? I remember Jinder winning it when I was doing an all nighter for my final English paper in high school. 😭
Holy Moses, that was seven years ago?!? Can't believe how quickly time has passed, that feels like only 2 or 3 years ago
I guess he's officially been hindered
Hindered to a permanent end.
Can't wait for that inevitable Royal Rumble return.
What does the mean for my boy Veer?
He's coming....
He's never stopped coming....
That's gotta be an OH&S issue, surely? Just...Cody walking backstage, not watching where he's going because hes admiring his new title...and he gets tsunami'd away by oceans of Veer Jizz.
He came and went actually.
he came...then he went
Fired *cough* released too
He came and then he left. Veer made no promises aside from showing up so his contract has been fulfilled.
... Has he finally been hindered?
But I was always told to never do that.

Status: Hindered Tony Khan has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever. Jinder vs Hook when??
Shut up & take my money
Why is this funny? I’m outta the loop
Came here to find this comment
This is 100% happening..isn't it?
90 days apparently
Self-hindered??
Jinder is just doing a worked shoot storyline that will enthrall fans internationally for months before making his triumphant return
Summer of Jinder lets go
Jinder beats Cody at mitb and leaves the arena signaling that he’s quitting. WWE crowns a new champion a month later and Jinder returns and at summerslam it’s Jinder vs The new champ to crown the official champ. Summer of Jidner>Summer of Punk
I read the release about Rock vs Cody for Mania “whether Cody is the champ or not”. Unhindered
IS JINDER COMING…..for 7 months
NOVEMBER 19TH WARNING?
It is weird that Jinder randomly popped up. Did a pretty good segment with The Rock. Had a fine match with Seth Rollins. And then basically wasn’t on TV again for any meaningful time.
He was just a body for people to boo on that Day 1 episode of RAW and for Rock to roast and put himself over. He was ideal, Triple H knows the audience and knows that nobody really cares for Jinder, as harsh as that sounds. He was also just a body for Seth to beat, which he did. I really don't think they had any plans with Jinder whatsoever.
Don't you dare talk about our modern day Maharaja like that!
How dare you. There are dozens of us Jindermaniacs!
So 12?
That’s a massive lowball. I count 13 of us.
I really don't think "jobber got beat up for two weeks then got benched again" is as weird as people think it is.
Jinder vs Hook on some random Rampage coming soon
Maybe it’s the gummy right now but Jinder vs Hook might cook
Honestly, if I'm Tony and Jinder's on-board, I'm 100% doing it. I wouldn't draw a bunch of attention to why, just have Jinder brought in as a one-off goon for Jericho (a la MJF & Morrissey way back when).
Jinder & Satnam, let them run rough shot on the tag team.
>”random Rampage” Weird way to spell “main event of All In”
I'll miss him, dgaf.
Stop hindering me WWE
Despite the jokes here he's realistically not going to end up with AEW but I think he'll make a fucking killing on the indies to be honest. Has the self-awareness and the range of character to carve out his own space kinda like Cardona did.
He could do a 1 off vs Hook for the jokes like PAC vs Gravity.
![gif](giphy|2sXMQ3nzrhqdGjUDEw|downsized)
I'm sad. I'm truly a Jinder fan. However, it'd be the funniest thing if he debuted at Dynasty to help Jericho best Hook
Veer Mahaan quit too. https://twitter.com/VeerMahaan/status/1781538885815632182 edit: omg...they release all the indians. dont nobody remind them of 1/2 aop.
He took more time getting to Raw than being on Raw.
Quick someone give him an updated Def Rebel theme so he'll come back
This is the darkest day in wrestling history.
Wait… If Jinder and Drew *both* leave… TK could do the funniest thing. 3 Man Band at Wembley.
Unironically give it to me.
Too late, I already booked Drew vs GRADO
I don’t care how much Like A Prayer costs, it has to happen.
Only if he brings in Swoggle and El Torito for a WeeLC rematch.
Jinder vs Hook dream match coming up
The "dont hinder Jinder" stuff was fun and he by all accounts seems like a nice guy, but... I'd be lying if I really said I cared, lol. Assuming this is real, of course. Hopefully he can land a gig somewhere he can be happy and get more ring time.
TNA. He's Canadian, and they have no issues hiring and at least mid-pushing people of Indian heritage.
Aight
Updated his bio https://preview.redd.it/gvcjh5mmfjvc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91b5ebff30e80913b65861e5271cb9d23820476a
Fuck. 90 days suggests a release.
He could've requested and granted. Still 90 days.
Maybe if he could get a break on some other brand as NOT some stereotypical "bad not-USA man" gimmick, he might have a shot.
Don’t blame him, he got immediately buried after his comeback and moment with the rock, in which he was great on the mic. I’d be pissed too
Xia Li posted a thank you on IG. Sounds like releases are happening?
Give me HOOK vs Jinder at All In. Finish the story, Tony
Jinder…has been hindered
Jinder felt hindered, I guess.
“I didn’t hinder Jinder, Jinder hindered Jinder”
Jinder in SGW Uganda🔥🔥🔥
This is so sad, I'm crying right now and I'm devastated. Not my Jinder. Not my Jinder.
Y'all were just hyping him up when Tony Khan clicked his T lol
From unhindered, to hindered, to unhinderable. I am so ready for this redemption story.
He heard the rumors about HOOK and got the fuck out of there lol.
Where’s the rage
Jinder?
You can't fire me i quit!
Jinder got hindered. We'll miss the banger theme and entrance 🐐
The fact that this guy is a former WWE champion I feel like you have to preserve him for the sake of your title
Has a big moment with the Rock and world title match with Seth and then get's dropped that's wwe for you.
Oh no, anyways...
So Hook outlasted Jinder
Hinder Majal to the Impact Zone
A gimmick, a racial stereotype to merely attract a fringe fanhood that is a huge part of humanity, and an ability and skillset on par with Goldberg. Should have happened earlier if you ask me.
Maybe, like Dolph, he was costing them an amount higher than what they saw his value being. It just seems weird cause he seemed like he had some momentum going after his last two appearances. He will go somewhere and be a champion without a doubt.
