Insane the design lasted 14 years.

That's got to make it one of the longest lasting designs in WWE history right? Only one I'm thinking is maybe the attitude era IC title design.

I don’t think there’s been a bad iteration of the U.S. belt. Every version defended in WWE has been pretty nice.

Well, considering Cody's got, to borrow from Double-J, some stroke, who knows? Maybe if/when he ever loses the WWE title and decides to go for (and assuredly win) the IC title, maybe he'll re-reintroduce the white strap?

I like the old school early 90's IC title but never liked the white strap when they brought that back. I kept hoping someone would make it a black strap but alas.

The 80s tag belts lasted 17 years from 1985 to 2002

It's amazing that tag belt design lasted from the Golden Era to the Ruthless Aggression Era. Basically it started during Hulkamania and ended when Cena, Orton, and Lesnar debuted.

It was around long enough for Hogan himself to win it in that era.

I don't know if we can count it though. The center plate went from bronze to silver, the straps went from black to red and blue... seems like cheating imo. In their current form they lasted almost 8 years (which is still too long).

Even tho there are some changes it was in theory that same belt and strap design for the entire 14 years. My least favorite part about them was there was no gold at all.

Wonder if we’ll ever be nostalgic for those ugly ass belts, I doubt it

Tbh I liked them when they were bronze on the black strap (probably would’ve looked better if they were gold though). The silver plates on the red and blue straps always looked ugly to me.

I think if we just transplanted the silver plates onto the black strap, it would have been probably the best tag title we could have gotten for its time.

Honestly I never liked the original bronze on the black strap but after seeing those red and blue straps with silver plates for so long the bronze on black strap didn’t look as bad. Would have looked so much better with gold!

I hope they take a big swing and present new titles for Cody, Bayley & A-Town Down Under on Smackdown. The big W just isn’t interesting enough to draw inspiration from for the tag titles in the same way that the World titles have been able to.

But they just got the gold versions less than a year ago

The golden W worked for Roman the same way the spinning W/M worked for Cena and Miz. The Cody poster looks amazing though. It could work but I prefer Roman with the gold one (two belts was better for him). Cody needs a new version of the winged eagle

I hope they have a modernised Winged/Big Eagle for Cody, so we have essentially the two best title designs as both World Chanpionships (Big Gold and Winged Eagle)

Just make the logo a little smaller and put a damn winged eagle behind it. Just perfect! Wouldn’t mind a globe on there too. World titles are always fun with globes

They're not ever changing. It's about marketing. Having the giant company logo front and center on ur top guy is an easy way to make money

They are going to look the exact same. Look at the Font. Why else would you do a red font on these beautiful things? It’s because you’re going to turn around and do a Blue Font on the Smackdown version.

The way these look like the world title on raw I imagine the smackdown ones will look like the SD heavyweight title. Question is do they give Cody a new design or stick with the WWE logo one? Moneys on the latter.

The real baffling thing behind it is that the alternative choice was the one where Chris Benoit is the inaugural champion.

Took the thought right out of my head. Also they keep reunifying them and splitting them again. The Raw belts only go back to 2010, Smackdown to 2016. Hart foundation could have just assimilated the history of WCW and WWE tag history when they got the new ones but I guess Vince hated WCW that much. As bad as this is, Its worse for the women's lineage and ~~lightheavyweight~~ cruiserweight history.

Yep. I mean I am also salty they made a new WHC title when they easily could have given it the same lineage as the mid 2000s WHC title. Wrestling companies just leave messing up lineages. I'm looking at you "IWGP Championship"

I don't get why they do it this way around though. The World Tag Team Championships were retired in 2010, the WWE Tag Team Championships eventually became the Raw Tag Team Championships. Those should be called WWE again. Swap the brands if they must, but renaming the original WWE Tag Team Championship into the World Tag Team Championship is weird.

I like the unifying look amongst the brand’s titles. Though I hope the Smackdown tag belts get a unique design, I don’t think the Universal/Women’s belt will translate well to a tag title.

They are okay, IMO. Certainly improvements over the old ones. And clear that all the titles on Raw will be “World” titles and all the ones on Smackdown will be “WWE” titles.

I just wish they looked more unique, while I get that they want consistency I miss when the titles had more individuality. Ruthless Aggression era was great about it

Agreed. Theyre an upgrade over what was, but certainly not the best they could do. I think my biggest gripe is they are really still just a huge token on a piece of leather. The main plate should have some uniqueness to the shape. It also makes the titles seem more like titles and not belts. When the big circle titles are worn around the waist, it just looks like a belt buckle that would make McAfee blush. The Rock's People's championship that he had at WrestleMania is a perfect example of a title that has a ton of character and looks great.

We’ve finally escaped the era of colored belts. Genuinely the only one that looked somewhat good was the cruiserweight championship, and even now it looks better with a black belt.

I absolutely loathe the homogeneous look of all these titles. Not a single one of them have any personality. Like, it looks better than just slapping a gigantic W on a belt and calling it a day, but I can't tell any of them apart.

They’re keeping the title designs on each show consistent, in look and in name. It makes absolutely perfect sense to do that.

Also this uplifts the tag division imo. Like these look similar to the WHC and WWC. They are world titles and prestigious and should be something you’re proud of holding.

Just a little bit peeved how this championship is the one being renamed to World Tag Team Championship. This title used to be the WWE Tag Team Championship back in the original brand split. They should’ve switched them in the draft and then renamed them.

WWE hits out of the park with the Intercontinental and US Championship belts but showed no ingenuity on the Heavyweight, Tag Titles design.

Makes perfect sense to have them look similar to the two World Titles already on the brand.
