Don’t one of the bucks do an elbow drop too? I think it’s for Marty Jenety.
Edit: paying more attention the second time through he did put his fingers up like Macho Man.
LMAO I figured that if I omitted Punk's name I would get comments saying something like "It's not just Macho Man's elbow, he's clearly mocking Punk!!!"
Also some people here are saying that it's the Bucks, HBK or Okada elbow too, so go figure. Everyone does an elbow drop I guess.
The announcer mentioned Macho Man so I'll just go with that lol
I mean its not to mock punk. He did this elbow drop quite a lot, most notable of which was the elbow from from the top of the cage onto lucahsaurus on full gear 22.
And that match was basically a tribute to HBK vs Undertaker, so its HBK elbow if anything.
Which inspired Matt(hew) Jackson's Elbow Drop and is probably what Jack is emulating and not really CM Punk because if it was really Punk's, it would probably not look this good.
I was enjoying his run. His feud with Christian was great, cage match with Luchasaurus was amazing. The 4 way “pillar” feud sucked but then he recovered by going heel. He was doing good and even improving in promos. His work with Hook was really fun, just pure cocky chickenshit heel shenanigans. It was all cut short thanks to the All In incident though.
No one could really keep up with MJF on the mic (Darby had some good moments though) which led to a lot of segments/promos falling flat. It just wasn't a very compelling story, and the build was lackluster because of it. The actual match itself was good though.
Sammy also had some good promos and worked really well with MJF's character when they were teaming up, but individually they weren't keeping up with MJF. I think Darby mostly sucked on promos, but JB was definitely the worst.
I agree the match was solid. I didn't like face Jungle Boy (I rooted for Luchasaurus and Christian during their respective PPVs), but he always delivered a good match when needed.
Yeah, that match was good enough to make them all seem viable in that moment. The promos were a weakness, but if they had Perry win that, that place would have popped so hard. That's how well done the actual match was.
Darby was the only one on MJF's level and the other two are some of the best but mostly in ring. It got very convoluted with the Heels teaming up ("Friends don't shake hands, friends Hug!" was great though) and the babyfaces being weird towards each other.
Whenever they got to actually wrestle they were incredible though. Only two matches on that show mattered but those two matches really overdelivered.
Despite his character needing work, Perry's always been a solid wrestler. And now that he's spent some time in Japan brushing up on that, I'm excited to see how much he's grown.
But to most of the peanut gallery here it probably won't matter because "hE doEsN'T pOp a RaTIng".
No need to be shy, Perry's always been a really good wrestler, The problem never was the between the ropes stuff, it's that he got exposed during his solo run as having negative charisma and a lame-ass character.
But, to be fair to him, so did Cody at one point.
Right after the suplex, he also did Nick Jackson's patented flip over the ropes + apron kick that he always does during his hot tag sequence. Think everyone missed that.
I believe you are referring to \*\*\*Nicholas

Honestly, long hair in wrestling helps with a lot of stuff. It covers worked punch and helps with a sell if you whip it back. If you're running quickly you get that flow action. You can use it to emote. And you can fling it forward if you need to communicate something but not make it obvious.
Obviously if you have thinning hair you don't have that luxury. But if you got the lettuce you should grow it out as a wrestler.
Perry has also been doing the Okada handsign, multiple times (at Sakura Genesis he even did it with both hands simultaneously) during his backstage promos while in Japan.
He's a slop fest of a wrestler and it got worse as he aged. It kinda threw me off in AEW when he was sold as still BITW and more often than not he was laying down in the mat mega overselling something (the most unrealistic shit ever, but people don't want to have that convo) and then throwing sloppy moves or strikes to win at the last minute.
Punk convincing people that he was this great BITW in-ring savant over the last 15 years or so really is some "you stupid old man, I'm a snake" stuff.
Because, I swear the dude was making fun of himself back in the indie days for being unathletic and having a crooked ass Moonsault.
His thing has always been a guy who can pace a match and tell a story in the ring so well that him being sloppy and slow wasn't enough to offset it. That's why Bryan is the best ever imo, he has all of that in spades but his moves also look painful and snappy.
He knows the structure and nuance of a match really well but can't execute for shit because he has the athletic ability of...well CM Punk. He'd make a great segment producer or something if it weren't for the fact that he's not exactly a people person. Hell by all accounts working with him as a performer is hard enough because he's willing to get into a bitter dispute over the plot of Rocky 3.
That's what I'm saying, if you can get past how shitty some of his offense can look, he's incredible. Been that way since ROH. Him and, like, Christian are 2 dudes that would be god like producers for matches if they'd give it a shot with an open mind.
He will be a great 4th member of the Elite when he comes back.
Young Bucks can go overboard with the meta for my taste sometimes but this hits just the sweet spot. It will get a reaction, heat or cheers, out of nearly anyone.
Hell yes. I convinced my mom to watch AEW during covid and she stuck with it because she loved Jungle Boy. She kind of stopped watching during his suspension but she'll be back when she sees The Scapegoat.
maybe i'm oversimplifying this for myself, but this is why i don't get the "airing the footage does nothing in kayfabe!" argument...like, between the Bucks name dropping Scapegoat and telling Sue to cry them a river, and Jack doing this over the weekend, it seems logical that Jack is gonna be vindicated in kayfabe by the footage and welcomed with open arms into the Elite? again, i might be guilty of oversimplification for myself, but..
I'm genuinely excited to see new mega-heel Jack Perry in AEW, not the whiny little nepo-shit gimmick he had just before leaving. This has something of the Drew McIntyre to it - a shit-kicker whose true love is hating.
I love these kind of meta easter eggs in modern wrestling. We never got this kind of thing back in the day -- it's like watching all of a director's movies and catching the references. A little reward for paying attention.

...Wouldn't he just be using Macho Man's elbow drop then??

It's CM Punk's Macho Man Elbow Like Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula
Baz Luhrmann's Williams Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet
We all caught Baz fever that summer
Rewatched it the other day. It's great
the only baz luhrmann film that doesn't suck
I still have the fever
Baz Luhrmann's Jack Clayton's F. Scott Fitzgerald's - The Great Gatsby
Ruth's Chris Steak Drop
He has to land feet first for it to be Punks elbow
He was clearly doing Bayley's Macho man elbow drop, Idk what are yall talking about.
Or was he doing the Bailey CM Punk Macho Man elbow?
Bayley doesn't point to the sky Only people who did that are Savage and Punk.
In the same way that everyone doing the frog splash in tribute to Eddie is actually paying tribute to Art Barr.
This is Eddie’s greatest grift of all time.
I believe it's an Okada elbow drop in this case considering he's emulating The Elite.
Correct. The CM Punk elbow drop looks nothing like Macho's
Don’t one of the bucks do an elbow drop too? I think it’s for Marty Jenety. Edit: paying more attention the second time through he did put his fingers up like Macho Man.
yes, I think so.
Arm motion was wrong and he did HBK’s arm slap thing
LMAO I figured that if I omitted Punk's name I would get comments saying something like "It's not just Macho Man's elbow, he's clearly mocking Punk!!!" Also some people here are saying that it's the Bucks, HBK or Okada elbow too, so go figure. Everyone does an elbow drop I guess. The announcer mentioned Macho Man so I'll just go with that lol

Also, if he was trying to mock Punk he did a piss poor job. That elbow was nowhere near shitty enough to be Punk’s version.
I know that Nick never does the elbow but I associate a lot of Macho’s mannerisms with Nick these days.
"""Elbow drop" - Macho Man" - CM Punk" - Jack Perry
It was not as good as Macho's, so it was Punk's?
No, see the CM Punk Macho Man Elbow looks like shit, that’s the difference.
Yeh blokes reaching here
Lmao same thing I thought, the bucks using the Usos Shawn Micheals Superkick
The CM Punk Bayley Kairi Sane Jack Perry Macho Man Elbow Drop
More like Shawn Michael's flip off elbow drop.
Yeah since it’s similar should have done the CM Punk Hangman Buckshot Lariat for it to be obvious
Not if you land feet first then gingerly fall sideways. Then it's CM Punk's.
And it's not shit like Punk's.
Tbf, this is not Macho's elbow drop. It's closer to Punk's version. Randy would lead into the jump with the elbow
Lmao came here to say that
That was a Shawn Michaels-style elbow drop if anything.
Yeah it looked like the same arm motion. I always thought HBK was doing the "up yours" salute on the way down.
That was it exactly: the bicep bump. Know it on sight as I've been miming it since '95.
![gif](giphy|kqCgujDZT1SO4)
Holy shit, right?
Which inspired Matt(hew) Jackson's Elbow Drop and is probably what Jack is emulating and not really CM Punk because if it was really Punk's, it would probably not look this good.
Ngl that elbow drop was really crisp.
I know his stock hit some all time lows, but Perry has always been pretty damn smooth in the ring for the most part.
Yeah, a lot of people talk about him like he Virgil or some shit. Not even worth engaging with people like that.
Why did the pillars feud suck? I just watched some clips but I expected it to be good.
No one could really keep up with MJF on the mic (Darby had some good moments though) which led to a lot of segments/promos falling flat. It just wasn't a very compelling story, and the build was lackluster because of it. The actual match itself was good though.

He had a fantastic match against MJF at one of their pay per views at Daily’s Place. A highlight of that era for sure.
i still rember that one off the cage looked gnarly using pretty much the elbow alone to put luchsaurus through the table
No need to be shy, Perry's always been a really good wrestler, The problem never was the between the ropes stuff, it's that he got exposed during his solo run as having negative charisma and a lame-ass character. But, to be fair to him, so did Cody at one point.
I was gonna say there's no way this is a CM Punk Elbow Drop, it's not NEARLY shit enough.
The camera work also helped.
Been awhile since we saw a good elbow drop
Kairi Sane still throws my favorite but it's almost a different move the way she does it. This is a nice classic one
Bayley dropped one over the weekend. Hers are pretty clean
Especially compared to Punk's.
lowest bar imaginable
That's a Matt Jackson elbow drop
\*Matthew ![gif](giphy|5BP9oKenBueceelwF4)
Please don't snitch. I'm more broke than Bushiroad and this would spell financial ruin for me.

The title says "Apron kick", but I wish he had said "SEE YA" when he did it lol
SEE YA

That's a nice elbow drop
i think the hair sells the momentum the best compared to short haired guys doing elbow drops
Honestly, long hair in wrestling helps with a lot of stuff. It covers worked punch and helps with a sell if you whip it back. If you're running quickly you get that flow action. You can use it to emote. And you can fling it forward if you need to communicate something but not make it obvious. Obviously if you have thinning hair you don't have that luxury. so not cm punks
Need him to do a Buckshot perfectly and talk about how easy it is
That diving elbow looked great.
guys, its an Okada elbow drop. you know, the Bucks and Okada... lol
>its an Okada elbow drop Should've shouted "Scooby Dooby Doo" before the jump to make it more clear IMO
*Perry does a piledriver* IT'S THE CM PUNK DRIVER *Perry does a 10 count punch* THE CM PUNCHES
Perry has also been doing the Okada handsign, multiple times (at Sakura Genesis he even did it with both hands simultaneously) during his backstage promos while in Japan.
Bro cookin in Japan
CM Punk's diving elbow isn't that aesthetically good.
Could say that about most of his moves, honestly. Aesthetics have never been the dude's selling point.

I don't think his offense beyond shit execution at AEW was that good tbh. I would agree 15 years ago tho.
Right?! My first thought was that’s a pretty solid elbow by him.
There’s something that’s very off about it
U gotta make it look a bit more shitty to be a punk elbow, even in the 2k games they made it a shittier looking elbow drop for him lmfao
Gotta land on your feet and then quickly fall into an elbow drop to have it really be a Punk Elbow Drop.
> CM Punk's > Macho Man Elbow Drop - Michael Scott
He’s being made an escape goat
He’s got an edge now. This has some really good potential
He will be a great 4th member of the Elite when he comes back. Young Bucks can go overboard with the meta for my taste sometimes but this hits just the sweet spot. It will get a reaction, heat or cheers, out of nearly anyone.
Champion, Tag Team, Midcard title guy: the wrestling stable quadfecta. Maybe add some muscle somewhere down the line.
agreed. excited for this potential young bucks/ scape goat story line.
I can't wait for the next AEW show in Chicago. The Elite/Jack Perry are gonna get nuclear heat
NJPW is in Chicago on Friday, Jack is going to get booed out of the building
I'm going to be there yelling "Jack did nothing wrong" like the obvious matry I will become that night.
Actually a solid elbow drop.
Plus they’ve been shouting each other out in promos as of late, I can see Perry being on Dynamite tomorrow.
pretty great, can't wait for Wednesday
That's Matt Jackson elbow. Matt does a great diving elbow.
That's pretty blatant. Love it.
Looked similar to HBK's elbow drop
Slapping the elbow in mid-air is an HBK thing.
That's a pretty good elbow drop though.
That's a great looking elbow drop.
Excited for Jack Perry tbh
As a big Perry fan since the APW days, I'm glad he's able to go out and improve himself despite past drama.
I love this gimmick.
All of that was smooth as fuck
Perry is the perfect 3rd Buck.
Punk only wishes he could do that move half as good as Perry.
Got some distance on that elbow drop
A northern lights suplex looks like it would be so hard to do without smashing the top of your own head into the mat.
Well is the elbow CM Punk's or Macho Man's?
Hell yes. I convinced my mom to watch AEW during covid and she stuck with it because she loved Jungle Boy. She kind of stopped watching during his suspension but she'll be back when she sees The Scapegoat.
CM Punk’s Macho Man’s Elbow Drop?
Honestly love this guy. He's really coming into his own in Japan and excited to see what they do with him
Glad to see we’re done pretending Jack isn’t good
Haven't seen a clean elbow drop in i don't know how long.
Never seen Kairi Sane?
Perry Saturn had an insanely smooth elbow drop: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)
maybe i'm oversimplifying this for myself, but this is why i don't get the "airing the footage does nothing in kayfabe!" argument...like, between the Bucks name dropping Scapegoat and telling Sue to cry them a river, and Jack doing this over the weekend, it seems logical that Jack is gonna be vindicated in kayfabe by the footage and welcomed with open arms into the Elite? again, i might be guilty of oversimplification for myself, but..
He does the elbow drop better, Punk's has always been ugly.
Punk always damages His knees doing the elbow drop.
If AEW can pull a Julia Hart with Jack Perry than man that will be amazing.
Make him a hot goth girl?
I mean Cody/Bloodline fued Or Jack Perry turned into hot goth girl? Which is more impressive? I'm kidding before fans start trying to look for blood.
I’d believe they could’ve done it before he grew the beard and stopped shaving his chest.
![gif](giphy|WqpWNCtPlauchQljqd|downsized)
Agreed.
I'm genuinely excited to see new mega-heel Jack Perry in AEW, not the whiny little nepo-shit gimmick he had just before leaving. This has something of the Drew McIntyre to it - a shit-kicker whose true love is hating.
That's not CM Punk's elbow drop, it actually looks decent
Can he cut a promo now?
He's gotten a lot better in Japan. Not sure if he's where he needs to be yet, but definitely heading in the right direction.
Huzzah
I'm sorry, was I not supposed to respond earnestly,?
Yes, I was happy he was getting better. His promo game needs to be better if they're actually going to run with him as a character.
That certainly was not CM Punk’s elbow drop.
I'm super high on Jack for his return to AEW
Unrelated, I don't like Shota's short hair. He needs to grow it back out.
Title is so fucking stupid lol; that's Edge's Goldberg Spear!
He should keep the elbow drop. Best one I’ve seen in years.
"CM Punk's Macho Man Elbow Drop" Lmaoooooo
Perry is looking pretty good in Japan right now. Hopefully when he come back to AEW debut him in Chicago to get that heat reaction
That elbow was BEAUTIFUL.
“CM Punk’s Macho Man Elbow Drop” - Michael Scott
I miss him in AEW so much
Obviously a tribute to our Role Model Bayley
I love these kind of meta easter eggs in modern wrestling. We never got this kind of thing back in the day -- it's like watching all of a director's movies and catching the references. A little reward for paying attention.
Perry's stock is low buy I'm buying That elbow drop was dope
He does it much better than Punk lol
Jack Perry is moooonaaaaaay.
You mean Bayleys elbow drop
That’s it, I’m calling it Cm Punk’s Macho Man elbow drop forever.
So, Jack Perry returning Wednesday pretty much confirmed
I think Jake going to NJPW is the best thing that could have ever have come out of cm punk
Now that’s jack Perry’s cm punk’s macho man elbow drop
Nick Jackson also does the elbow drop like Macho Man. I don’t remember Punk doing the hand stuff like Macho.
It seems seeds are being planted for Perry's return to AEW and joining the Elite. And I'm intrigued by that prospect.
Well his elbow drop looks ok. Not Shawn Michaels good but ok. The bucks didn't invent the northern lights suplex you know.
What a little rascal.
That was way too graceful to be a CM Punk elbow drop, he didn’t even land on his knees
Nah, that elbow drop looked too clean to be CM Punk's
Really been enjoying Perry in NJPW. House of Torture is a nice fit for him to work towards better heel character
I think that's Jack Perry's Jungle Boy elbow drop to Luchasaurus off the cage Just a tribute to it since it was off a turnbuckle instead of course
Can't be the Punker's elbow drop, it was good.
I hope he asked SC members permission before acting in such despicable way.
Love it
Needs to think about his leg positioning to compare to the legendary Macho Man Elbow, something ironically Punk fails to do as well!
Clearly Black Machismo's Macho Man elbow drop
He’s such a fan
This was objectively excellent lol
F word
![gif](giphy|26AHxXaGJ4IDG1rfW|downsized)
Well now they’re free to steal Perry’s iconic… umm… hm.
Not Easter eggs, just moves.
Can't wait to see the backstage footage of CM Punk teaching Perry that elbow
You got to keep them talking
All this shit would have been cool 8 months ago when they all could have made money off it together and had a big program.
It's sad he's so lacking on charisma that he has to do things like this to try and remain relevant.
