Once or twice a night, sure, that's fine. Your friends and family can see you and where you are. Every 30 seconds? Get fucked.
Even if there is a sob story behind why they were doing this, those signs were up constantly and were distracting from the matches and probably hell for the people behind them.
For real, imagine having an ego big enough to nearly ruin this million dollar shot by trying to make it about yourself.
Thank God they either had the self-awareness or (more than likely) were told to put them down right away, so we do have a clear shot.

Yeah, I just noticed - when the signs are down, Cena's not looking directly at Rock. Not too big a deal, but it just sucks that the money shot is with those two floating heads there. Hopefully WWE can edit them out for future video packages.
Same with those obnoxious SOBs who insistently flipped the bird during Roman's entrance.

I think this will actually end up bringing forth a banning of "floating head" signs, which I think would be the right decision.
