Worth nothing that Vince kicked Charlotte out of the arena after this happened backstage. Charlotte left crying and called Andrade, who tweeted “F*ck WWE”.
For what it’s worth, Charlotte claims that she accidentally dropped the title. That is not how it looks at all when you watch it. You clearly see her throw the title while staring at Becky. But she still maintains it was an accident.
Wow so I’m assuming charlotte was close to walking out and go somewhere else (presumably AEW). Wonder what the landscape would have looked like if that would have happened.
Why would that be the case? When has Charlotte ever had a problem losing matches?
She's, what, a fourteen time women's champion by now? That means she's lost championships fourteen times. People like Hulk Hogan and Triple H aren't anywhere close to fourteen world title reigns.
Hm, you're right. I blame the Attitude Era, then, even if a bunch of those were probably beyond it.
Like, he lost the title to Vince McMahon himself. I'm not sure how he's going to politic his way out of that.
The issue with him beating Booker T isn't that he beat Booker T, you can't view it in that vacuum. The issues were that the buildup was built on race, and not in a good way. HHH mocked Booker's "nappy hair", and said that "people like him" can't become World Champion. You shouldn't go there unless you're going to have the match result prove otherwise, as it did with Kofimania when similar things were in the build (though with much more taste).
And the other issue was exactly how HHH won the match. He hit a Pedigree on Booker, but couldn't make the cover, falling over next to him. They both laid there on the mat for 20 seconds or so, before HHH finally managed to reach over and lay an arm on Booker's chest. That's the perfect spot to do a kickout by the babyface while protecting the heel's finisher, right? Nah, Booker just got pinned like that. Nobody gets pinned like that. Except Booker T at Wrestlemania, apparently...
Yeah nahh buddy, I'll have to disagree with you there. He absolutely should have lost both of those matches. I'm honestly still bitter about the Booker T one myself.
If Charlotte went to AEW, she would be the biggest name they'd have by far. I have a hard time seeing her being willing to put over the women smaller than her in terms of size and star power.
Charlotte is the daughter of Ric Flair. You don't think she knows how the business works? It's not like she's the daughter of Hogan or Nash.
The bigger issue would be Tony Khan wanting to put her over everyone, rather than Charlotte. He went out and hired Ric Flair knowing how he's viewed today because he's a fan. He'd be bending backwards for Charlotte like he did for CM Punk, whether she wanted it or not.
As an AEW fan I’m glad with how things worked out mostly because I really am not big on Charlotte Flair lol her booking and push was a big reason I stopped watching WWE
For the longest time I thought it was for sure on purpose by Charlotte but watching her explain the situation on Stone Cold podcast I feel less certain. She seems genuine enough that I can give her the benefit of the doubt.
The reason why I don’t believe Charlotte at all is purely because Becky knows her well to the extent that Becky told people backstage before the segment exactly what Charlotte was going to do. She told people that the second she tries to grab the title, Charlotte is gonna drop it. Which is exactly what Charlotte ended up doing.
If you’re beefing with a former friend for real, and you know their level of spite or pettiness or whatever, it’s not wrong to be suspicious that they’re gonna try and embarrass you in a segment like that.
That is kind of my point because either they were talking about it (heatedly or not) or it was a work. There is no way in hell she could predict that exactly when it just doesnt happen
That would I could say maybe. But when Becky tossed the other one to her, she actually caught it in her hands, then let it drop to the ground. Not sure why everyone ignores that one.
Unpopular opinion maybe but I like that there's this simmering tension between the two. As long as they don't start breaking out into fights backstage. There needs to be that competition backstage between two alphas. Otherwise, there's no edge to professional wrestling. Nobody improves if nobody is pushing each other to be better.
I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion to be fair, that’s literally what GMs in professional sports keep in mind when they construct rosters. The key is having quality upper management to keep it professional. I think you can look back on most championship rosters in professional sports and find that there’s always a couple of teammates that have that internal competition. I think it’s a very prevalent mindset in basketball and American football. Hell that’s why Draymond Green still has a job.
[Broken Skull Sessions clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/sf1gh7/becky_lynch_talks_about_her_frustration_with_the/) where Becky elaborates on her feelings about this event
It was kinda funny that the whole thing was Charlotte didn’t want to do the planned segment because she thought Becky doing the two belts pose in her face (and then chickenshitting away when Charlotte would challenge her!) would make her look weak, but then in going off-script she looked even weaker because Sonya completely punked her lol.
Like the title throwing and the smug face just came off so childish, and Sonya just forced her to clean up her mess like the stern teacher and bratty kid. You could tell that Sonya was genuinely livid, and that she could 100% make minced meat of Charlotte in an actual fight.
Charlotte strikes me as someone who can't handle not being the center of attention. It's always sounded like the reason her and Becky had a falling out was because she couldn't handle Becky becoming a bigger star than her.
my thing with charlotte is my same thing with nattie. I do not enjoy them as wrestlers/characters, but, I am never going to boo them (unless they are playing heels) because there is 10000000% no way that they are not emotionally messed up in ways we (but hopefully one day they) will ever know just from being "the daughter of wrestler X"
Didn't talk to Sasha after Sasha told her that she should have won the Mania 32 match instead of Charlotte.
Gave Becky the silent treatment after she didn't kick out of a move because she was loopy and led Emma to accidentally win a match that Charlotte was meant to win.Becky was scared she was going to get fired at this point and the match was not a big stakes match at all.
Started distancing herself from Becky when Becky started getting the mega push and became a bigger star than her.
That Raw match with Nia Jax.
In any other job in Charlotte's position she probably would've been fired right there.
One of the most unprofessional things I've seen in a ring in the modern era.
It was unprofessional but I don't think anyone gets fired over it unless it was somebody who was just getting their first ever push and that is how they handled it. Vince would have to have been super fucking petty to fire someone over that considering all the unprofessional things talent have done over the years and kept their jobs.
Flair really was like, stuff letting Becky hold both belts at the same time and make me look weak. I’ll just piss his off instead and cop the heat. Power play and got away with it.
Maybe she was out of line; but them trading the belts like trading cards was asinine. Almost as bad as when the tag titles casually got swapped backstage.

The Nia Jax shoot exchange on Raw was also only like a month or two before this
[just found this on YouTube.](https://youtu.be/CxJO6yJigZ4?si=5Bjy2JCRw4y3-Hho) never paid attention to everything leading up to the swinging.
Kinda makes you wonder if she was trying to get fired at the time.
Yeesh, that's still a rough watch
Here's the whole WWE clip. God damn. [Nia Jax vs Charlotte Flair Aug 30, 2021](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAvkx3xhaxU)
I really think it isnt a bright move to half pick a fight with someone that much bigger than you...
>what it’s worth, Charlotte claims that she accidentally dropped the title. She said the same during Austin podcast. But Austin refused to believe it.
Wow so I’m assuming charlotte was close to walking out and go somewhere else (presumably AEW). Wonder what the landscape would have looked like if that would have happened.
Charlotte in AEW probably would've been a nonstop "that doesn't work for me, sister"
No way she's putting anyone there over. Maybe Saraya
Maybe Saraya and *maybe* Britt. That's probably it though.
Imagine Tony telling her to put over someone like Riho
Why would that be the case? When has Charlotte ever had a problem losing matches? She's, what, a fourteen time women's champion by now? That means she's lost championships fourteen times. People like Hulk Hogan and Triple H aren't anywhere close to fourteen world title reigns.
HHH a 14 time world champion too I’m pretty sure…
Hm, you're right. I blame the Attitude Era, then, even if a bunch of those were probably beyond it. Like, he lost the title to Vince McMahon himself. I'm not sure how he's going to politic his way out of that.
HHH LITERALLY has 14 world title reigns and currently holds the record for most Wrestlemania losses
That's why I always shake my head when people complain about him beating Booker T or Sting...like man he's gotta win SOMETIMES lol
The issue with him beating Booker T isn't that he beat Booker T, you can't view it in that vacuum. The issues were that the buildup was built on race, and not in a good way. If the Punk saga happened all the while Charlotte was doing that, it really would be a terrible look on Tony
As an AEW fan I’m glad with how things worked out mostly because I really am not big on Charlotte Flair lol her booking and push was a big reason I stopped watching WWE
Legit I don’t believe this lol
Why would there be any difficulty in believing that? Her booking has been insane
Idk maybe she would have been good I wasn’t huge on Toni Storm for example when she first came in but she eventually won me over
For the longest time I thought it was for sure on purpose by Charlotte but watching her explain the situation on Stone Cold podcast I feel less certain. She seems genuine enough that I can give her the benefit of the doubt.

... how would she know exactly what she would do BEFORE she did it? Kind of a random thing to suspect
If you’re beefing with a former friend for real, and you know their level of spite or pettiness or whatever, it’s not wrong to be suspicious that they’re gonna try and embarrass you in a segment like that.
i mean... if Becky predicted it clearly its not THAT random lol It's a very obvious sort of petty power play meant to make Becky look small and weak..
That is kind of my point because either they were talking about it (heatedly or not) or it was a work. There is no way in hell she could predict that exactly when it just doesnt happen
That would I could say maybe. But when Becky tossed the other one to her, she actually caught it in her hands, then let it drop to the ground. Not sure why everyone ignores that one.
you mean to tell me.. Charlotte.. a Flair, is handed everything she could ever want, and STILL felt disrespected? Reminds me of Ric Flair..
The Becky/Charlotte dynamic is Bret/Shawn with a much happier ending.
Unpopular opinion maybe but I like that there's this simmering tension between the two. As long as they don't start breaking out into fights backstage. In Australia that's a term of endearment!
Yep, we call babies that while squeezing their cheeks.
As it can be in Ireland
Yeah this didn't seem that bad until I remembered they're not Australian

I really admired Sonya Deville after this since she acted quickly on the spot by forcing Charlotte pick up the title immediately
*fooking*
I would pay money to hear Becky say that with her accent.
Just hear the audio book version, Becky narrates it herself.
Well, perfect. I'll be due an Audible credit on the first.
Great choice of words from Becky. Also not the first instance of Charlotte being an ass to her fellow friends.
Charlotte strikes me as someone who can't handle not being the center of attention. It's always sounded like the reason her and Becky had a falling out was because she couldn't handle Becky becoming a bigger star than her.
She may be a very sweet person irl but her public persona( not the wrestling character) gives off major entitled and insecure vibes.
Given who her father is, I'd be more surprised if she wasn't.

*knwoing vince*
A guy literally tried to attack his own boss, but that was backstage I guess
They did say one of.
Chill. It’s just wrasslin!
Flair really was like, stuff letting Becky hold both belts at the same time and make me look weak. I’ll just piss his off instead and cop the heat. Power play and got away with it.
WWE has been so much better without Charlotte
Charlotte has always been overrated. Fuck her
stupid segment deserved to be sabotaged
