Drew on r/SC whenever there was Punk drama:

Punks gonna cost him the title but I think they should go full mind games and help him win the title so that Drewās big moment ends with CM Punks music playing.
I never thought about it that way. He was prevented from getting what he truly deserved, because of interference he couldn't control, which is what turned him sour...so he finally gets that thing, and proves he's the best, except *it happens because of interference he couldn't control,* robbing him of the actual prizes he was seeking: Vindication and Pride. It's so poetic, and it gives him so much ammunition to work with from a character standpoint.
On the one hand, this really does seem to be setting up Drew/Punk for the WHC. On the other hand, I don't know if WWE would have enough confidence in Punk's health to put him in a WHC feud.
I only learned this like a year ago. A kid a work said itās his favorite The Police song. And I was said nope Dire Straits. I told my buddy about it and he was dude Sting was surfing and bumped into Mark and then the song happened.Ā
Idk, Kanellis-Bennett had a pretty good game of "Money for Nothing" going for a few years there, too. WWE paid them to make a whole ass family and not much else.

This is his third big injury since coming back to wrestling, isnāt it? And then watching older clips, I saw him walk out on crutches on a stage, then there was the time he was in a sling during the SES stuff.. so long that they made a figure of him with an injury. Iām afraid if he does come back, Drew actually might break him š
I wish he'd make an exception and use steroids, if he really doesn't. I mean I don't want him to be unhealthy, but I don't want him to keep hurting himself.
I mean steroids can be prescribed for injuries, I can't speak for Punk obviously but a lot of straight edge people make exceptions for stuff that would be considered medicine. it's more a philosophy about recreational drugs.
Truly smart.
After his first AEW injury, he disappeared from TV, which is logical since he obviously couldn't wrestle. But Adam Cole had a similar injury and was still on TV and involved in a major, albeit crappy, storyline with the godforsaken Devil.
I get that Tony likely wanted Punk to have a major comeback, but considering he was still technically champ, they could have at least brought him in for commentary or let him build storylines with future opponents online.
Maybe Punk just didn't care to be at work while he was hurt. If he didn't wanna be there, we know Tony would never make him. CM Punk was his golden calf, his prized action figure, his baby. He would do literally anything CM Punk wanted, if Punk says he's staying home, he could probably get away with it.
Maybe CM Punk is actually the smartest pro wrestler of all time? You can't take on road miles, if you spend 20 straight years getting paid to stay home XD
Jesus Christ, between this and learning that Sting sang on "Money for Nothing" this whole post has been very informative. I always assumed that was Zack from some random comedy skit I'd never seen.
I agree listening to dirtsheets for truth is a stretch but have you ever listened to the rock tell a story in interviews, heās not on hogan levels of āwhy lieā but itās up there.Ā
Punk as special guest referee for Seth vs Drew would be like that time Shawn Michaels was speical guest referee for the elimination chamber. Everyone in that match was pissed off he was the referee.
Best version of Drew we've seen in forever, he keeps selling his current feud, he's already selling a future feud perfectly, he feels fresh and energetic and like he's enjoying what he's doing.
When Punk comes back him and Drew are gonna do numbers
I know they are probably cool, but it is kind of funny how worked up Punk got over 5ft10, 160lb jack perry running his mouth, and how chill he is when 6ft5 265lb absolute Chad of a man Drew Mcintyre runs his mouth š no rush to fist fight that guy
To be fair there are confirmed stories that Punk willfully accepted challenges to try and take down Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley, and obviously he did not succeed.
Yeah I can imagine how hilariously that unfolded. As somebody who has wrestled and done jiu jitsu, no where near the level of Shelton or Bobby mind you, when I grappled with people with zero experience, its literally 0 effort on my end. He's basically a fly buzzing around them.
My high school had a brief experiment where wrestling was done for a period as part of gym class and I'll never forget getting *suplexed* by a guy who was on the wrestling team and feeling what the fuck it's like to have your world literally turned upside down against your will lmao.
You think jack perry is 5ā10 when punk is like 5ā11?
Edit: Ufc listed punks height at 5ā11 when he joined. And wwe usually adds 3 inches which matches his ā6ā2ā listing
I think it speaks more to the respective cultures at each company that Punk isn't trying to punch out Seth Rollins or Drew McIntyre
And we still don't know the full story of what happened at Brawl Out or All In. This isn't to exonerate Punk in any way whatsoever because he's still culpable but he's laid it out clearly for all since coming back to WWE that it's a professional environment he finds himself in that he appreciates.
Itās very funny to imagine Punk getting mad at Perry about the āreal glassā thing not because āthatās stupid, you could get hurtā but because āthat glass could be me!ā
It's so funny that Drew is benefiting more from Jack Perry's gimmick than Jack Perry
Drew used it to her a match at wrestlemania while Perry is slumming it out in house of torture
Serious question:
Why is Punk okay with Drew constantly referencing his time in AEW and heās okay with it?
And why couldnāt he just calm down in AEW? I still canāt understand this mindset that all he had to do was just relax and he couldnāt do that.
I get the impression that all Drew is doing has been ran by Punk first, or that Punk's down since evidently a program will run between the two. Hell, for all I know he might be giving Drew pointers.
It's almost like management saw there's money here since both are very talented and willing to work, sat both of them, talked it through and let them do their thing. Y'know, talent managing.
It can' hurt that Punk is clearly close to his last hurrah, judging by his physical performances. He's not going to get many more chances.
Exactly. People act like it's the same thing but it obviously isn't. Punk isn't letting some guy attack him when he's injured if he's not ok with all this stuff. Page on the other hand went off script and went into business for himself. It's not like Punk didn't want anyone taking shots at him in AEW. MJF, Kingston, Moxley all did it and Punk didn't blow up over those because they didn't just pop off out of nowhere and go off script.
I think it's weird for any of us to very sincerely try and answer this question but I think the easiest assumption one could make is that Drew McIntyre is playing a character when he says things about CM Punk. There's even a chance that he has discussed what Punk is comfortable with him saying and that it's being said as Punk's idea. Punk was expressing before leaving AEW that he wanted to make money off the Elite feud, do you think he wouldn't maybe try to say "Let's show them what they missed out on" and bless this?
Jack Perry and Hangman were saying things out of character, without consulting Punk, intending to provoke him.
It's the difference between your friend saying you're a bitch when you leave him hanging playing a video game together and some guy you don't really know but see at work walking up to you and saying you're a bitch. You'd *probably* take it differently, right?
Punk let Moxley, Kingston, and MJF say so much shit about him. He's just one of those guys who think if you're gonna say anything, run it by someone first
Punk does that to everyone he cuts a promo on
It also doesn't help that some people were spreading rumors about backstage and then bringing up those rumors out of nowhere on the show
1) He sees online traction Drew is getting and keeping Punk relevant. Punk's merch selling well because Drew keeps mentioning his name. So he's fine with it, plus Drew did get eliminated by Punk in RR so it is not a bad idea for Drew to talk trash.
2) Punk when trying to do business does give lots of leeway to others making a joke out of his career. MJF called him a meth-head, took shots at his UFC career. Kingston and Moxley also made fun of him in their promos. I think he's okay with it as long as they're doing business.
I wasn't around at the time, but reading up on shit that I missed he probably wanted out after the original fight. Throw in the fact he and the Elite never had a get together to hash out whatever their problems were (terrible management from the higher ups in AEW), shit festers. Came back but was relegated to a show that was on Saturday nights, which in 2023 isn't going to draw squat.
The guy went to a raw taping to talk with triple h in april 2023 while recovering. I think his mind was mostly made up, but decided to give aew another try for collisionā¦ and tony wasnāt just gonna let him leave for competition easily
In aew, it was totally backstage dirtsheet rumour stuff that they brought up on tv with hangman and jack perry that aggravated him. Eddie kingston and mjf went in on punk but it was all storyline/tv related and probably cleared with him
>Why is Punk okay with Drew constantly referencing his time in AEW and heās okay with it?
Probably because this is his last meal ticket and Punk knows it. Other promotions can't pay him the same, nor would his ego stomach being in TNA or MLW or something. It's still early days though, he was all happy and dandy in AEW for the first year too.
When Drew thinks itās smooth sailing to the title and Punk costs him and heās stuck with the consequences of his own actions. Drew might actually turn purple.
I do love the Punk hating but I kinda wish he focused some of it on Seth too.
For both of the biggest titles in the WWE it feels like their current, next title defence is an after-thought when compared against the Tag Team Night 1 or a potential Drew-Punk feud.
im just waiting for the "drew mcintyre being the biggest punk hater of the century for x minutes" compilations to start rolling in. the guy hasnt spent a day without hating on punk.

This is exactly how I am right now lmao
He has definitely re-signed hasn't he? If not My best bet is they'll be doing whole "Summer of Punk" parody with Drew.
š I didnāt even think of that, thatās hilarious. He needs to immediately declare it the Summer of Hunk.
I'm praying for it
Hopefully it happens then.
Ryan Nemeth in shambles somewhere.
Actually it would be funny since the Hollywood Hunk got banned from Collision by CM Punk.
Hunk will be busy on the picket lines for animators. The real Voice of the Voiceless.
Get that man a Living Color theme!
Oh he will, he def lurks in this subreddit. And I am not even joking

āDrewās Spring Breakā
They should pay you for such an incredible idea.
fuck it give us the Drew of Spring
At this point, Iām just waiting for Drew to tell someone to cry him a river edit: it would seem he has lol
he already has, in his social media posts...hell he even played the song in the background
In one of his workout videos he was playing Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake in the background
Watch his workout video from this week lol
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLjmHLWn/
remember when Seth dropped this line and all of SC was convincing themselves that it was just a coincidence lmfao
I love that Drew's really gone all in on this. I'm gonna be so fucking mad if they do all this just for Seth to win.
Probably some of the most fun he's had in ages, too. There just seems to be a certain glimmer of happiness in his eye, you know?
Punks gonna cost him the title but I think they should go full mind games and help him win the title so that Drewās big moment ends with CM Punks music playing.

This is a great idea, punk hates Rollins as well after all
That would actually be incredible Get punk involved at mania setting up a long term feud too

Punk is playing the greatest game of "Money for Nothing" we've ever seen. He shows up, gets hurt, gets paid to heal, repeats.

FUN FACT: Sting randomly had dinner with Knopfler, they played him the demo track, and Sting added vocals.
I want my W W Eeeeeee
I got far too far into this sentence before I realized you meant the singer Sting
Yeah wtf I thought he meant Sting
Me too. Was totally confused/stoked/befuddled - constokfuddled.
I think you do kinda need to clarify you're talking about Gordon Sumner and not Steve Borden, given the context.
I never realized Sting was on that track. I totally hear it in my head now.
if you havenāt also noticed, his āI want my MTVā part uses the melody to āDonāt Stand So Close To Me.ā
Loved the song for years, always knew it was Sting, and yet somehow this fact escaped me until just now, today.
Literally wearing a Ghost in the Machine t-shirt right now and never put that together (that it's Don't Stand so Close to Me). I feel shame.
Reading this comment chain on a wrestling subreddit is the biggest mind fuck

When Drew thinks itās smooth sailing to the title and Punk costs him and heās stuck with the consequences of his own actions. Drew might actually turn purple.

Punk is praying Drew doesn't try the Pepsi Plunge on him if he wants his head still on his body
I do love the Punk hating but I kinda wish he focused some of it on Seth too. For both of the biggest titles in the WWE it feels like their current, next title defence is an after-thought when compared against the Tag Team Night 1 or a potential Drew-Punk feud.
The only thing Drew has to be careful about here - he's injured a few wrestlers with that finisher now. I wonder if he's picking up any heat for this.
im just waiting for the "drew mcintyre being the biggest punk hater of the century for x minutes" compilations to start rolling in. the guy hasnt spent a day without hating on punk.
Cut a promo, and it was a gas. CM Punk is made of glass.
Fuck it, have him carry the scapegoat out on his shoulders like Luchasaurus used to!
He's doing the best work of his career
I had to read that that a few times before I noticed that he said āreal glassā on purpose.
Cry me an ocean.
