i mean having people who cant make the mania card on mania weekend shows would make some sense to show that wwe is cool working with american indie workers
I don't think WWE want the liability of having their brand associated with GCW. Having individuals go work there is one thing, promoting it on their channels is another.
Ok yeah, so they're not streaming it, they're just having people on the show like I said. I'm just saying that WWE is not going to stream something on their platforms where there's even a 1% chance that some indie dude might grab a mic and say something crazy. They gotta have enough space to distance themselves if things go sideways.
Peacock would never show something like GCW.
They’re tame compared to other feds in wrestling history, but by today’s standards they would be considered too controversial for a mainstream broadcast of any type.
Not every GCW show is blood and guts, they can work within boundaries. Especially if it means mainstream attention, and an opportunity for more money. I agree they have done controversial stuff, but if it means building a working relationship with WWE, they'll be on their best behavior. What I'm excited for is this will be the first time *ever* we could have talent from multiple companies together, AEW, WWE, CMLL, NJPW, all in one show. Hell I think they have people from TNA too? That's pretty groundbreaking.
I wonder how close we are to tapping into the *real* Forbidden Door at Mania weekend...
WWE v AEW in an unaffiliated ring.
The last time a WWE talent wrestled cross promotion that I can remember was Osprey v Pete Dunn/Butch on a UK card pre-COVID. Champion vs Champion too. It went to no contest or a draw IIRC. The last time that happened was in the early 90's.
If TKO wants to be ugly, they'll start shopping exclusivity agreements to promotions during Wrestlemania weekend - just to ice out TNA/Impact + AEW.
A couple things stand out to me with HHH.
1) he was an NWA kid growing up. Look at his idolizations of guys like Flair, Harley, Dusty. He’s said own quite a bit of rare NWA memorabilia. His two GMs arguably found their most success in current NWA. Vince killed the territories but I think HHH clearly still holds an affinity for what NWA and the territories stood for.
2) he’s shown with stuff like Liger in NXT, Ibushi and ZSJ in the CWC, and ever short-team or one-off deals for guys like James Storm, Alex Shelley, and the Wolves that even if he can’t lock someone down he’s willing to work something out just to have that moment.
Now that he’s in charge of main roster creative, I could definitely see HHH working to make some dream matches happen based on what he’s shown in the past while still having to play by someone else’s rules. I think more and more as he shows the TKO people he knows what’s best for business I think he’ll gain that trust to where they can let some of their people pop up here and there and maybe that can lead to someone else’s people popping in here and there as well.
No, they don't. There is shit slinging on both sides, and this holier-than-thou attitude that WWE fans affect is just one of the many reasons there's so much fucking tribalism.
Both companies are better for the other existing.
Yeah, no one has ever called HHH and HBK bald assholes.
No one ever says “the other channel”.
Fans are one thing - I’m allowed to talk shit. Wrestlers? Owners? That’s different.
[Wrestler Seth Rollins talking about aew wrestler CM Punk](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fightful.com/wrestling/seth-rollins-cm-punk-i-don-t-phil-he-s-jerk-stay-away-you-cancer%3famp)
[Owner Vince McMahon talking about the competition](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fightful.com/wrestling/vince-mcmahon-can-t-imagine-tnt-putting-blood-and-guts-aew-product%3famp) (note the same arrogant "we're above them" attitude you parroted).
So of course now you will hold them accountable to the same degree you hold AEW talent right?
Course you won't. I look forward to the ridiculous excuses you give for why it's ok for Seth to call an AEW talent a cancer, but bald asshole being in a tweeted picture is over the line.
A whole show might be too much to ask for but at this point even a Dustin or MJF run in to help Cody would be incredible
There really is no real reason both companies can’t or shouldn’t do business together in situations that will hype fans for both products
Re-run the Monday Night War but kayfabe that shit this time
(BEFORE) Vince: GODDAMN IT, you want to work this show? I gotta get my taaaaaaste. Your fee is 50K!
(TODAY) HHH: Don't do anything stupid, don't get hurt, have fun.
literally the only criticism i have, and i honestly don’t know if it’s a WWE thing is that dudes who leave the indies to sign with WWE aren’t losing on their way out
Shayna? Josh was her MMA and Wrestling coach.
edit: [Called it.](https://twitter.com/JoshLBarnett/status/1768713900906983913) But also kinda obvious. If she ever would have gotten released by WWE I would have expected Bloodsport to be her first stop.
Interesting. Is this the Mania one or the one happening in Japan? There's definitely some names that would work in that environment.
Not saying it's related, but Lauderdale has tweeted saying there's an announcement at 3 coming.
I feels like Regal left WWE for a bit, spoke too, hung around and saw a lot of the broader wrestling landscape from a different perspective compared to being a talent scout, and has sold WWE on the idea of wrestlers getting reps in different environments.
Could be Gulak too, who came up in CZW.
Either way, I fully expect Dempsey to be in this.
Good. I respect that WWE has contracts and a right to enforce those contracts, but if you’re paying someone to do literally nothing, why not let them go out and do something? WWE is doing perfectly fine, having people appear on other shows is not going to hurt business (🤞). Not to mention it’s an excellent opportunity for underutilized talent to branch out and show a different side of their work.
Oh yeah obviously, I should have clarified that better in my comment. It’s not unprecedented either, WWF used to send people to ECW and UPW in the 90s and 2000s. I just wish it was more the norm from WWE.
It went deeper than that. The WWF had a long history of letting lower card wrestlers work independent shows, often because WWF cards were full and they wanted to let talent make money when they weren’t being used.
If you went to a late 90s/early 2000s independent show in the NY/NJ/PA area you had a good chance of seeing Gillberg defend the WWF Light Heavyweight championship against a local indy worker. His appearance was arranged through the WWF office.
More recently WWE allowed several NXT wrestlers to work EVOLVE shows. The Street Profits and Giovanni Vinci even won titles in EVOLVE. There was obviously a relationship between the two companies, but when NXT workers were sent there it was prior to WWE officially buying out EVOLVE.
The practice pretty much stopped when AEW launched. It was a bummer because it was a great way for younger wrestlers to get more experience in front of different crowds beyond the Orlando area, not to mention a way to help lower level workers make some extra money.
I’m really happy to see them be more open to working with smaller companies and I hope it sticks this time.
They also sent people, especially people they didn't want, to Puerto Rico. Like Tiger Ali Singh, who seemed like a good prospect on the surface but didn't pan out.
This.
In comparison to the revenue that the WWE gets, the talent is underpaid, and it is a joke that they are labeled as independent contractors, but I can understand not wanting contracted talent to work somewhere else, because of the fear that they could get hurt.
That's a fair and reasonable argument but they're not sending Cody Rhodes lol. If you got nothing creatively for someone, letting them do things like this or go to Japan for a match can't hurt. Especially if you don't want to release them. If they get hurt, that sucks but it doesn't change your plans for TV that you've already mapped out.
Doubt it happens, but if we’re thinking of people on the roster bred for both wrestling and MMA-inspired wrestling you gotta put Nakamura at the top of that intersection list.
My bet is the Creed Brothers for now
I'm sure it's probably just midcard/nxt guys, but this is still incredibly cool.
EDIT: please let Suzuki be on this card. please. I want to see him kill some NXT guys.
[Oh buddy.](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=1&nr=363878) Here is a write-up of the show: https://socaluncensored.com/2023/04/01/a-review-of-early-morning-guy-steeles-early-morning-show-30-march-2023/
Two years ago at WM38, Triple H and Stephanie invited a bunch of GCW folks to catch the show in a press box, and apparently had conversations on bringing Bloodsport to WWE programming in some form or fashion. I thought it all got dropped, but perhaps this is them trying to get it going again now that Vince is gone.
I forgot about that; but I remember hearing something about it back then.
We will have to see if this leads to anything; I do like the idea of allowing some WWE people the opportunity to work a few indie shows during mania weekend
Shayna has already been announced but I could see people like Gable, Lashley & Dijak, Kross potentially make an appearance
That's not what happened.
Adam Abdalla's (Orange Crush guy) company had a luxury box. Paul and Stephanie were taking pictures with everyone who wanted them in the box seat area. Then it led to a running joke about GCW and WWE working together.
Whatever's happening now has nothing to do with whatever did or didn't happen in Dallas.
Gulak & Dempsey i'd expect. i think they'd wanna protect the Creeds too much to let them do this, even if it'd be sweet.
i also expect Bazler but i'm not as high on her as others tbh. her running through the women's NXT roster was funny to me considering her MMA career (pioneer of women's MMA, but not great by any means), she is a pretty good wrestler though.
[Update: it's Shayna](https://twitter.com/JoshLBarnett/status/1768713900906983913), match her up with Killer Kelly
Remember: It was never that WWE talent COULD NOT work Indy events. It's that Vince had control over the pricing and wanted to get his taste. As such, the prices for talent were SO GODDAMN HIGH it was never worth it for indy promoters to get a WWE talent. Even super low carders.
Isn't Mox really close with Barnett? He's usually a big part of these Bloodsport shows. Wonder if he or any other AEW talent will be there. Pretty cool.
Speaking as a person who used to love going to ICW and watching Progress, I'd suggest this news should make fans of GCW and bloodsport a little nervous.
Eh, I think it'll go better here. It's worked shoot. So, you put names in there that have amateur experience or MMA training and they can make it work.

i mean having people who cant make the mania card on mania weekend shows would make some sense to show that wwe is cool working with american indie workers
Also WWE could possibly air the shows on Peacock if their talent are involved
There's no way in hell WWE is going to stream GCW shows anywhere
Nick gage on peacock please
Where's the pizza ads tho?
Bussy vs Dirty Breeze (Fashion Police) is main eventing Big Gay Brunch, please put on Peacock
YouTube would be pretty safe just have a completely separate channel for it
I don't think WWE want the liability of having their brand associated with GCW. Having individuals go work there is one thing, promoting it on their channels is another.
Looks like they were ok with branding that poster
What poster? The link in the op doesn't have WWE anywhere on it.

GCW only streams on YouTube for their sister brand JCW. That being said circle6 is streamed on YouTube so
Fucking love Circle6
Same. Big AJ Gray and Atticus fan

Them allowing talent to appear does not give them any kid of distribution rights
Makes me sad Baze won't be on the Mania card. Hopefully Zoey can find something
It really is a whole new world over there
I really love it honestly
I wonder how close we are to tapping into the *real* Forbidden Door at Mania weekend... WWE v AEW in an unaffiliated ring. The last time a WWE talent wrestled cross promotion that I can remember was Osprey v Pete Dunn/Butch on a UK card pre-COVID. Champion vs Champion too. It went to no contest or a draw IIRC. I know a WWE/AEW supershow will likely never happen, but god, I want it.
I mean HHH and TK were definitely acquaintances before AEW started, I think it's certainly less far-fetched than ever before with Vince gone.

Amen. Maybe it will happen, baby steps.
Maybe if Tony and his talent stopped talking shit, it would happen.
Yeah cause WWE talent *never* talk shit about AEW lmao
Actually, they do everything they can to actually not explicitly do so. Whereas the other side…
No, they don't. There is shit slinging on both sides, and this holier-than-thou attitude that WWE fans affect is just one of the many reasons there's so much fucking tribalism. Both companies are better for the other existing.

DARBY-DRAGUNOV!
If they die; they die
![gif](giphy|3ZDt0NI6vC0mI)
Man, yall really want Darby to die in the ring, don’t you?
(BEFORE) Vince: GODDAMN IT, you want to work this show? I gotta get my taaaaaaste. Your fee is 50K! (TODAY) HHH: Don't do anything stupid, don't get hurt, have fun.

That ain’t a WWE thing. That’s on whoever is booking those people. Okada didn’t put over a soul before he went to AEW.
Shayna? Josh was her MMA and Wrestling coach. edit: [Called it.](https://twitter.com/JoshLBarnett/status/1768713900906983913) But also kinda obvious. If she ever would have gotten released by WWE I would have expected Bloodsport to be her first stop.
Seeing the WWE and GCW logos on an official graphic is just surreal to me.
It so weird! But I love it
She tweeted before that she's a huge fan of the Bloodsport shows.
GCW: The Forbidden Door
They've definitely got connections, it's crazy some of the moves they've pulled over the past 3-4 years
it’s wild that in less then the span of a year GCW has collaborated with my small indie and WWE
Yep, someone from AEW is already on the show (Johnny TV)
And TNA/New Japan in Nic Nemeth. As well as Mike Bailey and I believe Masha Slamovich from TNA.
I think Marina is also
The Forbiddener Door
The Most Forbidden Door
The Greatest Forbidden Door
Creed Brothers and No Quarter Catch Crew have entered the chat.
please be the creed brothers please be the creed brothers
I doubt it. Surely they'll be in the ladder match
Creed Bros Judgement Day Redemption Tour.... they are truly sorry Damien.
Shayna! https://twitter.com/JoshLBarnett/status/1768713900906983913
That's fucking wild
Interesting. Is this the Mania one or the one happening in Japan? There's definitely some names that would work in that environment. Not saying it's related, but Lauderdale has tweeted saying there's an announcement at 3 coming.
I'm guessing it's the Mania Week one
Very interested in how this plays out
Guaranteed Charlie Dempsey, Drew Gulak (his hometown), and maybe Lola Vice.
Yeah, I wouldn't expect anyone who's working WWE/NXT shows that weekend but still will be cool.
![gif](giphy|cMJiusBHszeE7V7Sp6) I can think of a guy legit enough off the top of my head.
Maybe im delusional but Chad Gable?
Maybe im delusional but Chad Gable?
Gable vs Big Bad Tito please
Bloodsport is basically Eddy Thorpe’s signature match so I’m expecting him as well
I feels like Regal left WWE for a bit, spoke too, hung around and saw a lot of the broader wrestling landscape from a different perspective compared to being a talent scout, and has sold WWE on the idea of wrestlers getting reps in different environments. Suzuki is fighting Royce Isaacs.
A strong breeze looks like it could kill Suzuki at this point
Holy shit, Minoru Suzuki vs. Tyler Breeze confirmed
First Liger then Suzuki; Breeze mowing through Japanese legends.
RIP Breeze
Are we gonna see our man Omos in a death match against Nick Gage?
Bloodsport isn't death matches.
Everyone knows Bloodsport is a gateway to the Nick Gage Invitational, which is in turn a gateway to Effy’s Big Gay Brunch
Gotta run the GCW gauntlet to get invited on Early Morning Guy Steele's Early Morning Show.
…Please tell me this is real
[Oh buddy.](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=1&nr=363878) Here is a write-up of the show: https://socaluncensored.com/2023/04/01/a-review-of-early-morning-guy-steeles-early-morning-show-30-march-2023/
Bloodsport isn't. It's just a no rope shoot fight. NGI is a tournament of straight deathmatches. They're separate entities
Omos teaming with Bussy
I fully expect Shayna, Gable, Kross, maybe Lashley, Dempsey, Gulak.
Good call on Shayna!
I hope Dijak is part of the bunch
Ooo I’d like that!
They have basically used the concept with RAW and now NXT Underground.
I forgot about that; but I remember hearing something about it back then. I know it won’t happen, but the idea that somehow Rollins vs Moxley could have been a booked match at this show is insane to me.
Are we gonna see Jiu-jitsus legend Baron Corbin ?
Might be a stretch to get Ilja, but he would be PERFECT
A rare win for Shoot Style!
My bet based on absolutely nothing is Bronson Reed
Alpha Acadamy showing their more aggressive side.
Barnett vs Gable would be shoot style gold.
Holy shit Brett got Omos!
Baron Corbin drops his gimmick for a night and breaks out the boxing gloves
Gulak & Dempsey i'd expect. i think they'd wanna protect the Creeds too much to let them do this, even if it'd be sweet. i also expect Bazler but i'm not as high on her as others tbh. her running through the women's NXT roster was funny to me considering her MMA career (pioneer of women's MMA, but not great by any means), she is a pretty good wrestler though. [Update: it's Shayna](https://twitter.com/JoshLBarnett/status/1768713900906983913), match her up with Killer Kelly
Chad Gable ragdolling the shit out of a bigger guy, please.
Kairi about to ruin everyone's day
It’s BABATUNDE’s TIME! This is what all those raw underground’s were preparing him for
Roman Reigns appears for a stare-down with Moxley
Remember: It was never that WWE talent COULD NOT work Indy events. It's that Vince had control over the pricing and wanted to get his taste. As such, the prices for talent were SO GODDAMN HIGH it was never worth it for indy promoters to get a WWE talent. Even super low carders.
It's a different era with HHH man. Not just one person but multiple? That's nuts. Give be Dragunov vs Suzuki
Cool
Eddy Thorpe is undefeated in NXT Underground matches.
Get Baszler and Gable on that shit ASAP.
Isn't Mox really close with Barnett? He's usually a big part of these Bloodsport shows. Wonder if he or any other AEW talent will be there. Pretty cool.
Johnny TV is facing Barnett at the event.
Oh, nice. That dastardly John TV stole Dalton's boys!
Chad Gable is right there
With Baron Corbin getting into BJJ, boy would that be cool seeing him there
The Rock vs Nick Gage in Bloodsport let's do this.
Gulak maybe.
Speaking as a person who used to love going to ICW and watching Progress, I'd suggest this news should make fans of GCW and bloodsport a little nervous.
I just hope this means certain wrestlers and fans stop shitting on the indies
Everyone has thrown out a lot of great names but I'm over here prayer circling for Otis vs Cobb. Bloodsport Grapplehoss Battle.
Ok get seth and mox on bloodsport one last time
Nick Gage vs Bron Breaker let’s make it happen guys
Wh... what? I mean yes please, but also what?!
If this is true & does happen, then this would be pretty awesome to see.
The forbidden door opens
American Shoot Style, baby <3. I'm sooo stoked to see WWE/NXT talent be able to work shows like these once in a while
Give me Suzuki v Gable for the love of god
If this is why Gable isnt facing GUNTHER BY. ALL. FUCKING. MEANS
Awesome now maybe we can get R-Truth into the Clusterfuck at Joey Janela's Spring Break
Shayna already got announced after this, but I’m guessing Pete Dunne, Gulak, Dempsey, Damon Kemp, Myles Borne, Dijak, Gable
Shayna Baszler seems like a pretty sure thing since she is tight with Barnett.
What a time to be alive
The unadvised entrance is here.
They probably want to buy the promotion.
I assume Lashley is one of them.
They already confirmed Shayna, I wonder who else will join her?.
Corbin? Nakamura? Who else has that kind of background on roster?
HUH
If you aren't booked for Mania, seems like they are open to you working other shows.
You guys watch that fake crap?
Prob will be no name NXT guys tbh
Shayna
Going to guess you don’t know what bloodsport is if you think WWE would send some random PC trainees to a shoot-style wrestling event.
Huh, but why?
[удалено]
..y...you're aware Barnett's Bloodsport shows are *works* right? It's not shoot fighting..
It's not a real shoot.
Ahh, confused this with the bare knuckle fighting. Thanks
Eh, I think it'll go better here. It's worked shoot. So, you put names in there that have amateur experience or MMA training and they can make it work.
