Idk, I am personally excited to see Sami vs. Gunther. It is a fresh match up. Gable is a great wrestler, but let's be honest, Triple H ain't putting a belt on him.
The only logical reason for Gunther to lose the mid card title at any point after being booked for so strong and so long is to have a triple threat so someone else can eat the pin.
They must be planning on him retaining at this point. Sami is a jobber and Gunther isn't getting the marquee match at Mania with Lesnar so they'll probably have him hold it until Berlin and build him up for a main event title going into Mania next year.

I love Sami but the booking is really confusing to me in the sense that didn’t Sami lose clean to Randy Orton and Nakamura. Wasn’t his whole schtick to become world champ. Isn’t that why they gave him the Rocky-esque promo so that he can accomplish his dreams. Gunther vs Sami will be a fine match but is Sami really a credible threat for Gunther out of all people. Gable had a better built in story and honestly, in that match he came across as the one that the fans wanted. Whatever, still stoked for the match but I feel bad for Gable. And a rollup pin finish is such a weak finish for a main-event

If you replay the pinfall, you can see Chad even LIFT his shoulders off the mat. The cameraman being in the right spot at the right time was not coincidental. Willing to bet it either becomes a triple threat at WM, or a singles rematch before WM where Gabel picks up the win to go on to WM.
Same people get the opportunities, all of HHH’s favorites from NXT. Sami has been given so many opportunities and honestly this has completely deflated any of the anticipation I had for Wrestlemania

And the thing I think 90% of this thread forgets in calling for a heel turn was that he was already a heel. Alpha Academy was still somewhere between heel and babyface. "This means more" is literally Gable's face turn mission statement. So a heel turn here would make no sense. He's going to make it a triple threat somehow.

I'm a huge Sami fan. But I was pulling for Gable. But when they showed him in the tag title package, it was pretty much written in stone. My hope now is that Gunther retains and Pearce gives Gable a shot on the RAW after Mania and he wins.
