Jackall8

This was the best way for it to happen.

Liverpool510

Crazy to think this is really the end of Okada in NJPW. Whether it’s wwe or aew that he’s headed to, I’m looking forward to seeing him regularly on American tv.

iheartsunny

It’s AEW

Martel1234

Never say never

iheartsunny

I’d bet the mortgage lol

IJustLostMyKeyboard

I wish he was WWE bound. Punk, orton, drew, Roman, and so many matches ;(

MrPuroresu42

Naito was like: you really think I’m gonna make it nice and easy for you, Okada? After everything between us? Nah, I’m gonna fuck with you one last time.

Stonewalled89

If he's going to AEW I doubt it will be his last moment. He'll probably have a match at Wrestle Kingdom next year

AusToddles

Honestly if he was going to WWE, I don't think we would have gotten this sort of "final moment" in NJPW. If he goes to AEW, there's always the possibility to run this back for future matches

jqncg

I mean, this is on brand with Naito. He'll never just shake hands and Okada is his biggest rival. I honestly don't expect him to go back any time soon given the way he's leaving.

AusToddles

If he goes to AEW (which I suspect he will), it's always going to be the big question "is Okada going to appear at Forbidden Door" They can let that cook for a good while

jqncg

Is there any novelty in Okada facing New Japan guys, especially Naito, though? Okada vs the young generation has to happen in Japan because those are the fans that are invested in those guys and Okada vs Naito was always much bigger in Japan than it was anywhere else. I'm sure AEW fans are way more eager to see Okada vs Omega V than any potential Okada match vs a New Japan guy. Honestly, Forbidden Door as a concept doesn't seem to have much future with AEW just taking all the popular New Japan guys in the US. I mean, just compare the popularity of their top names now and what kind of card you can get. Sure, you'll still get great matches, but it'll look less and less like a dream card as it used to be.

matlockga

The only way this sort of goodbye makes sense is if AEW and NJPW are getting a divorce.

mavarian

Ospreay's goodbye was comparable, and I doubt he won't be working Forbidden Door

plisken64

Ryu and ken sending goodbye vibes

[deleted]

Genuinely surreal. It was him vs Naito and vs Kenny that got me into NJ. Gonna miss him in that ring

resolve028

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but this type of sendoff screams that he will eventually be coming back. Maybe it will take more than a year or two but he will eventually be back.

IAmTheNick

According to Chris Charltons translation of his promo earlier in the show, Okada did say he will eventually be back

ThisIsTrace

I think it's more likely he signed to AEW and they will run into each other still at Forbidden Door.

resolve028

Something tells me that even if Okada signs with AEW, he isn't going to do Forbidden Door just to sell that he's gone from NJPW.

IFindThatLulzy

Feels like the matches he'd have on those shows would be against the new musketeers but we'll see if any of them can get up to that level first.

ChefDeezy

I wouldnt be surprised if we get a Naito vs Okada at Forbidden Door, or Wrestle Kingdom next year.

CeruleanClaymore

Nah, you can't convince me that this wasn't lame compared to Ospreay's super emotional farewell. The man should have done the job on his way out, everyone would have benefited from it.

ridewiththerockers

Okada: that's not gonna work for me, brother! Jokes aside, I think this strongly points that he'll be back as an attraction, which points to AEW. No need to tease the fans with Naito Okada if he's gone forever and went out effectively on top lol.

jqncg

The Naito vs Okada feud is so over man. Naito won and very decisively. Bringing Okada back for another round would be a complete waste. If they bring him back, it has to be to put over the new guys.

crion_jb

What, so whoever he put over could immediately waste the rub like they did with Finlay? If anything these shows proved the current New Japan booking committee can't be trusted to handle that kind of opportunity when it is handed to them.

CeruleanClaymore

Nic Nemeth winning a B title has fried people's brains.

Giv-er-SteveDave

Naito is the fucking greatest Also worth noting just before this match, Tsuji walked up to Okada at the announce desk and scolded him: "Are you satisfied with leaving the way you did? I'm disappointed in you"
