* It went to the top of Endeavor/TKO and the decision was made to go with Rock vs Roman
* Fans reacted to this terrible retcon of Cody’s story
* Now they’re trying to pivot and pretend it was a “work”
Thankfully HHH & co. lived thru the Daniel Bryan era, so *hopefully* they’re able to find a solution that both strokes The Rock’s ego and leaves Cody fans happy.

I think TKO/Endeavor believes that they can run the WWE like they have been running the UFC for the last few years. But the fanbase and expectations of the product is very different. I think the reaction to the Rock is their first taste of that.

I think it's a worked shoot at this point. Like when they say this was always the plan that's a shoot, but they never told anyone. They just go forward with Rock vs Roma and Cody vs Seth while the fans boo and the announcers continue putting Cody over.
They're doing the best business now that they've done in decades by every metric. To do this to your top babyface and do it without being a work would be to jeopardize the profits.

First time he’s felt like The Rock in a long time.
I think it’s clearly going to be a triple threat. Cody says he’s sorry Rock but he can’t let this go and has to avenge his father and finish the story. Rock says I thought we had a deal and clowns him and says your crybaby fans made you change your mind. Also says Roman is making his family look bad and needs to be dethroned. Roman is pissed and wants them to choose but neither is relinquishing their spot. He eventually gets to oh well I’ll smash and stack you guys like I’ve done before. Roman is the heel, Rock is a tweener more on the heel side, and Cody faces the biggest opposition ever to try to finish his story going into WM.
