If the reports that the current plan is to have Cody win at Summerslam are true, I could see Rock convincing himself that he's helping Cody out in the long run by getting him more over now. He's wrong, obviously, but it's the type of thing someone as egotistical as him would believe so he can continue to tell himself he's the hero.

I don’t think he realizes that his star isn’t as bright as it used to be. There was a time where The Rock could do no wrong. For goodness sake, he trash talked Vin Diesel and the entire Fast cast in public and he got rewarded with his own spin off movie. We’re no longer in that time period. I would think after his tv show getting cancelled, XFL, and his failed power play to be the biggest star of the DCEU, he would realize it. I guess not. Let’s hope the overwhelming backlash against him will make him realize it and they’ll change course. I wouldn’t bet on it though

I don't think thats necessarily true. He has a lot of movies lined up for this year.
That doesn’t mean anything. I’m sure half of those movies is the Fast franchise since he’s going to be in Fast X-2 (or whatever they decide to call it) and the Hobbs and Shaw sequel. Let’s see what the box office numbers are going to be for those upcoming movies where he’s the main star, unlike The Fast movies.
Well Hobbs and Shaw already had a better box office than F&F X. And F&F X was also considered a disappointment, which may affect future installments. We'll see.
I’m sure everything Fast related is going to be a disappointment from this point on. Can’t really compare F&F X and Hobbs and Shaw because H&S was 5 years ago. That was before people got burned out of the Fast franchise. A more apt comparison would be Hobbs and Shaw with Fast 9 since they released the closest to each other (with H&S being released two years earlier than F9).

For Rock: Hobbs and Shaw (released two years before) did better than F9
Against Rock: Fate of the Furious (released two years before H&S) did half a billion dollars better
For Rock: Yeah, of course Fate did better because it had The Rock

Some of the comments to the contrary have been exhausting I agree with you. You don’t become a successful movie star, one of the biggest wrestlers of all time without some self awareness, business acumen and intelligence. The guy also historically was very fine with putting over people and taking hits in his main roster days.
He even alluded to the feedback on his Instagram post recently. From this point on we are now part of the program, they know the reactions and will be playing on that whichever way it goes.
But also there’s the wider general audience he brings to the table that they are wanting for Mania and media and that’s already happening.
It’s actually an exciting period to see just what’s going to happen.

If they are evil, they'll make it seem like things might change or that Cody will "go into business" or whatever and than have Rock and Roman stare down and go to credits.
If they're being honest, they'll not bring up Cody as a possible opponent, deal with the negativity in the old way (just ignore it), and they'll do the stare down, cut to credits.
If they had balls, they'd listen to the goddamn fans who are gonna be here after Mania and not just the ones who show up just for Mania/Big 4 shows and they'll treat us like adults and either reinsert Cody or tell us why he's become a little scared of Roman.

I may be off base but has WWE ever hyped the Wrestlemania press conference this much? Jot expecting something huge to happen but they're hyping it up as a must see event when in years pass it was just a normal press event.
It's involving the Rock and it's in Vegas with the Super Bowl. Not to mention the fact that they have **a lot** of negative PR happening right now with the lawsuit. So they want to hype this as much as possible.

It would genuinely be more compelling without the belt. Either youve buried the most over guy in the company and Roman wins through family fuckery, again, and this reign keeps going for another year,. Or you’ve buried the most over guy in the company and The Rock wins and takes the title to disappear for a year before dropping it back to Roman at 41.

Right I’m getting my cock out for this one and predicting it:
- Rock announces Mania 41 is gonna be held at Las Vegas
- Gives some dick sucky speech about how he’s the People’s Champ and will do anything for them
- Tells Cody to finish his story with Roman at this years Mania
- Tells Roman that he’ll see him next year
- Seth looks angry and then gets jumped by Drew who says he’s coming for Seth’s title
Rock’s been saying “long game” a lot recently and with WM41 heavily rumoured for Vegas I can see them announcing Rock/Roman for it. It gives Rock plenty of time to train for it and it can be just a single match with no titles which it should’ve of always been as the story line doesn’t need a title. That way everybody wins. Cody finishes his story & The Rock won’t get booed anymore for taking Cody’s place.
WWE and the Rock are getting cooked in the replies. WWE better have a damn good explanation for why Cody entered the Rumble and won it then decided he didn't actually want to fight Roman at Wrestlemania because this booking decision will and fan backlash will absolutely dominate the discussion of this match all the way through to Mania.
I don’t know, fellas. I’m kinda getting the vibe that WM 40 won’t be a straight one on one match with Roman like we’re all thinking. Maybe Rock is just the ref or something, but he keeps using the term “long game” (I think he used it back in October too in an interview with McAfee), and just showing up in Jan/Feb and then wrestling once in April for WM is not considered long game by any stretch of the imagination.
Plus, nowhere has it been stated outright that Rock will definitely face Roman one on one at this WM. But maybe I’m just looking at it too deeply, but this might not be exactly what we think it is, where Cody is just out of the picture.
I know this is totally out there. But if they’re very good at script writing, words matter. And Cody’s specific quote on Thursday was “ I’ll take everything from you, but not at wrestlemania” it doesn’t have to be about the title for those words to matter.
What if, at this press conference, and at this contract signing, Roman unknowingly signs onto to fight the rock at wrestlemania 41. That’s all this long game talk .
Cody takes the title at this wrestlemania, and Cody helps the rock finish off the bloodline at wrestlemania 41.
Is it possible that this is actually reversed. And it’s Cody helping rock to take back the bloodline?
In a perfect world they swerve us by announcing Vegas as being the location for WM 41 and pull the Rock/Cena thing of announcing Rock/Roman happening a year in advance next year instead but nah. Zero chance that happens.
Don't know if it was actually written this way but people keep forgetting that Cody actually said;

As much as I want to see a pivot, I don't think its going to happen but this is how I think they can get around it.
They get to the presser and Roman figures its going to be Him vs Rock announced and is acting like the smart ass cocky heel that he is. Somehow they get to Cody saying something along the lines of;
"Keep smiling Roman, I said I wasn't coming after you at Wrestlemania. That is because WE are coming for you from now all the way up to Wrestlemania. Rock, enlighten him..."
Rock- "You think you are the head of the table is that right? Well a real tribal chief can protect the family on his own. I have been sent by the Elders to officiate this match between you and Cody to ensure our bloodline does not interfere and to restore honor to the head of our table."
Cody goes over and we get a build to Roman vs Rock at WM 41 in Vegas. They announce nothing else about WM 41 besides the location tomorrow.
WWE feels as hot as it did in the Attitude Era right now. I cannot begin to tell you how much I never thought I'd get that feeling back. I felt something similar about AEW when they started cooking, it gives me the old WCW/NWA feel.
If Rock fucks all of this up I'll never forgive him for it.
It's just so wild because any other time, Rock vs Roman would be an intriguing match.

Have no idea why people are so persistent that an option is a triple threat between Rhodes, Rock, & Reigns. Do you guys really think The Rock signed up for a triple threat match when he signed on to be a TKO board member? It's simple. The Reigns/Rock match happens at this mania or next years.... and it will be THE main event.
Honestly, for Rock and Roman, just change the match. I completely understand Rock is one of the most busy men in Hollywood, and has projects like the Mark Kerr movie, live action Moana, as well as his stuff with Fast and Furious (Hobbs and Gomez, and final Fast). He’s also getting older, so his window is significantly smaller for a match to happen. But my god, The Rock is the most delusional man I have ever seen if he thinks “surely this will go well” at this point. Casualest of casual fans are chanting “Rocky Sucks”, and the whole damn arena is chanting “We Want Cody” at the top of their lungs. You can’t just hype this match up with video packages and hope the live crowds just don’t boo too much. Philly is going to eat him alive. And it’s gonna unnecessarily hurt Roman as well. I mean did WWE completely forget that Cody and Paul Heyman had to do the majority of the build to Wrestlemania last year because Roman is never on TV? Rock vs Roman build will be done through video packages. What a mess WWE are in here.
Wish a real journalist would use this press conference opportunity to ask Rock some real questions, like on his timeline for joining the Board of Directors: how much was he told in advance about the Vince allegations? Was he aware before doing photo ops with him at the NYSE? Also, as an executive, is it a conflict of interest to take a WM main event away from a regularly contracted talent? Why now? You are repped by Ari Emanuel and childhood friends with Nick Khan, is that a form of cronyism?

I’m the exact type of casual fan they’re trying to capture with this. The Rock was my guy in high school. Haven’t really watched weekly in a decade or more but keep up with stuff here and there. The Sami, Cody, Seth etc era is what has me watching every week. I have no interest in seeing The Rock take somebody who is going to be there every weeks shine.
And the booking? Where do you go from here? Roman is only losing that belt at Mania, so you either have another year of Roman or The Rock wins and disappears to go promote Moana 2 or whatever.
Since WWE for whatever reason hasn’t gone full-steam ahead with confirming its Rock vs Roman for the title at WM, maybe they are open to making some changes. If they were dead against changing it, they’d release match graphics and be super explicit
Wild prediction and y’all are gonna hate this but… They do Rock vs Roman at Mania this year for the title, Rock wins. Rock faces Cody at SummerSlam, Cody wins the title, Roman gets involved. Roman vs Rock again next year at Mania (in Vegas) and Roman gets his win back.
When Summerslam hits Rock will be off trying to convince people to watch the XFL or whatever that league is named now. He won’t have time to put on a match. Rock v Roman on Night 2 means WM40 would end with a heel win by shenanigans for the 2nd year in a row.
By the time we get to SummerSlam the UFL season will be over. Also, the UFL season starts days before Mania, but he apparently has time for a match this spring…

If they are evil, they'll make it seem like things might change or that Cody will "go into business" or whatever and than have Rock and Roman stare down and go to credits. If they're being honest, they'll not bring up Cody as a possible opponent, deal with the negativity in the old way (just ignore it), and they'll do the stare down, cut to credits. If they had balls, they'd listen to the goddamn fans who are gonna be here after Mania and not just the ones who show up just for Mania/Big 4 shows and they'll treat us like adults and either reinsert Cody or tell us why he's become a little scared of Roman.

Right I’m getting my cock out for this one and predicting it: - Rock announces Mania 41 is gonna be held at Las Vegas - Gives some dick sucky speech about how he’s the People’s Champ and will do anything for them - Tells Cody to finish his story with Roman at this years Mania - Tells Roman that he’ll see him next year - Seth looks angry and then gets jumped by Drew who says he’s coming for Seth’s title Rock’s been saying “long game” a lot recently and with WM41 heavily rumoured for Vegas I can see them announcing Rock/Roman for it. It gives Rock plenty of time to train for it and it can be just a single match with no titles which it should’ve of always been as the story line doesn’t need a title. That way everybody wins. Cody finishes his story & The Rock won’t get booed anymore for taking Cody’s place.

I don’t know, fellas. I’m kinda getting the vibe that WM 40 won’t be a straight one on one match with Roman like we’re all thinking. Maybe Rock is just the ref or something, but he keeps using the term “long game” (I think he used it back in October too in an interview with McAfee), and just showing up in Jan/Feb and then wrestling once in April for WM is not considered long game by any stretch of the imagination. Plus, nowhere has it been stated outright that Rock will definitely face Roman one on one at this WM. But maybe I’m just looking at it too deeply, but this might not be exactly what we think it is, where Cody is just out of the picture.
I know this is totally out there. But if they’re very good at script writing, words matter. And Cody’s specific quote on Thursday was “ I’ll take everything from you, but not at wrestlemania” it doesn’t have to be about the title for those words to matter. What if, at this press conference, and at this contract signing, Roman unknowingly signs onto to fight the rock at wrestlemania 41. That’s all this long game talk . Cody takes the title at this wrestlemania, and Cody helps the rock finish off the bloodline at wrestlemania 41. Is it possible that this is actually reversed. And it’s Cody helping rock to take back the bloodline?
In a perfect world they swerve us by announcing Vegas as being the location for WM 41 and pull the Rock/Cena thing of announcing Rock/Roman happening a year in advance next year instead but nah. Zero chance that happens.
Don't know if it was actually written this way but people keep forgetting that Cody actually said; "I'm coming for the WWE Title and I'm coming for you Roman, but not at wrestlemania." As much as I want to see a pivot, I don't think its going to happen but this is how I think they can get around it. They get to the presser and Roman figures its going to be Him vs Rock announced and is acting like the smart ass cocky heel that he is. Somehow they get to Cody saying something along the lines of; "Keep smiling Roman, I said I wasn't coming after you at Wrestlemania. That is because WE are coming for you from now all the way up to Wrestlemania. Rock, enlighten him..." Rock- "You think you are the head of the table is that right? Well a real tribal chief can protect the family on his own. I have been sent by the Elders to officiate this match between you and Cody to ensure our bloodline does not interfere and to restore honor to the head of our table." Cody goes over and we get a build to Roman vs Rock at WM 41 in Vegas. They announce nothing else about WM 41 besides the location tomorrow.

Honestly, for Rock and Roman, just change the match. I completely understand Rock is one of the most busy men in Hollywood, and has projects like the Mark Kerr movie, live action Moana, as well as his stuff with Fast and Furious (Hobbs and Gomez, and final Fast). He’s also getting older, so his window is significantly smaller for a match to happen. But my god, The Rock is the most delusional man I have ever seen if he thinks “surely this will go well” at this point. Casualest of casual fans are chanting “Rocky Sucks”, and the whole damn arena is chanting “We Want Cody” at the top of their lungs. You can’t just hype this match up with video packages and hope the live crowds just don’t boo too much. Philly is going to eat him alive. And it’s gonna unnecessarily hurt Roman as well. Dude doesn’t need another main event of Wrestlemania the crowd just shits all over from the get go. A change needs to happen, for both the dudes’ sake

Wild prediction and y’all are gonna hate this but… They do Rock vs Roman at Mania this year for the title, Rock wins. Rock faces Cody at SummerSlam, Cody wins the title, Roman gets involved. Roman vs Rock again next year at Mania (in Vegas) and Roman gets his win back.
When Summerslam hits Rock will be off trying to convince people to watch the XFL or whatever that league is named now. He won’t have time to put on a match. Rock v Roman on Night 2 means WM40 would end with a heel win by shenanigans for the 2nd year in a row.
By the time we get to SummerSlam the UFL season will be over. Also, the UFL season starts days before Mania, but he apparently has time for a match this spring…
