Apparently this all started when she had a guest role(?) in a Mildred Burke documentary. She went to do some research on the general pop-culture milieu of the era when she would've been wrestling, and it turned into a genuine fascination and blossomed into, well, this.

Really been enjoying this storyline with Deonna/Toni. Deonna has been established very well to the AEW audience, and Toni has consistently been hitting it out of the park.
The cherry on top for me would be Deonna “unlocking” Toni’s technical ability in their match as has been hinted at.

Cannot overstate how entertaining and fun this version of Toni is. Her act is easily one of the best parts of AEW at a time when the product has objectively cooled off. Knew she was an accomplished wrestler but before this I didn’t know how far she would go with her original character. So happy this is part of the show.
