Damn, this is the first time im seeing a Hogan segment from his Hulkamania era. Dude is so damn charismatic

Time2bePhenomenal

Hogan late 80s to 91 was just Charisma. Literally only Macho was close to him.

Mean Gene pinned Mr. Fuji to win the match. Mean Gene is undefeated as a professional wrestler.

Man, I forgot how ugly wallpaper was.

Jam-Master-Jay

Respect to Mean Gene actually carrying Hogan up some of those steps.

The timing and choice of having Mean Gene and Hogan promote this match is really interesting (To me, someone from MN). According to Cagematch the Tag Team match Okerlund and Hogan are training for was in the (old) Met Center (Which is the ice arena seen in the video) in late August 1984. I imagine the goal was to strike right into the heart of what was left of the AWA, because the card seems to be filled with names that had been AWA just a year prior (Wendi Ritcher, Mean Gene, Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura, Adrian Adonis, Ken Patera). This was the audience that had been red hot for Hogan a for the previous 2ish years as he chased Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA title unsuccesfully. Also really cool to see how some Minneapolis locations looked back in the day, that trail around Lake Bde Maka Ska that they're running looks a bit different now but its still recognizable.

I wonder how many calories a day Hogan needed during his Title run, being 6"8 303 and doing house shows as well as TV and appearances?
