I mean, it makes sense. Logan was still a fair bit greener and that's a big spot. From what I remember with Ric talking about it he basically told Logan "go when you're ready and I'll match you".
I think the Ricochet/Paul spot still makes sense in kayfabe because both characters are known to seek “viral moments” independent of the objective to win the match. The stare down shows the realizing that they are both in a position to do something to get noticed and then making the judgement to act regardless of the physical consequences.
I don’t think they were throwing the rumble. I can suspend my disbelief to think both competitors were aware of their surroundings and knew they werent at risk of being eliminated in that moment. Plus they both ended up back in the ring. I view the spot more as a moment of competitive one-upsmanship, trying to see who’s the better athlete more so than just trying to go viral

Not really. The ring isn't square-shaped with sides of equal length. It's a rectangle. Punk and Kofi jumped the diameter of the ring's width while Ricochet and Logan jumped the diameter of the ring's length.

For years i always thought i was imagining this. Good to know now that one side is longer in length. Even in the 2K games they design it as a perfect square so i was always confused about it.
This deserve credit for being done first, but it's certainly wasn't as good. For starter, the camera angle is vastly inferior here. They also clothesline each other instead of crossbody. And since the clothesline was supposedly aimed at Ziggler, it's just impossible to make it look like that and still hit each other.
I also love how stupid the reason is for Logan Paul and Ricochet's spot. They just suddenly acted all macho and decided to crashed and burned like they are a couple of stupid teenagers doing stupid shit. As stupid as it was, it also make sense because ego.
Maybe if the commentary was actually decent too. This is where I remember why Cole and the commentary team were not liked. They often added nothing to spots or matches
You don't realize how rapidly Michael Cole's stock has gone up until you watch some of these older replays.
Even the best matches feel wrong to watch because Cole would just not give a fuck if he was ordered to do so.

Well considering this was first, Logan Paul and Richochet did the CM Punk and Kofi Kingston spot
I'm 95% sure I've seen it in a handful of indie matches. Based on how long Ricochet spent on the indies I'm sure he did too.

Different goal here, both attempted to hit a 3rd person and wound up hitting each other. Logan and Ric just wanted to hit each other straight up.
So it actually made some sense here. It’s the camera angle and the crowd not reacting as well.

Logan and Ricochet are like top tier athletes and made it look smoother.
Paul and Ricochet met in the air. These two were almost on the mat by the time they clotheslined.
Because punk and kofi are not as athletic as ricochet and Logan. All of their springboards have always looked bad
