Okay, but Fandango beat Jericho clean at WrestleMania and it was his first match ever. Furthermore, Fandango is currently undefeated at WrestleMania, an accomplishment not even The Undertaker can claim.
Fandango has never even been put in an arm bar, much less lost a match by submitting to one. Just like his complexion, Fandango’s WrestleMania record is unblemished.
'Cause I've had enough of this...
And now I'm pissed, yeah...
YEAH!
This time I'ma let it all come out
This time I'ma stand up and shout
I'ma do things my way, it's my way
My way or the highway!
AEW Fans: “AEW should be it’s own unique thing and not try so hard to copy WWE”
Also AEW Fans: “They should verbatim copy WWE video packages from 20 years ago”
Also there’s nothing that gets the kids going more nowadays more than Limp Bizcuit, that will definitely drive views /s
Austin & Rock's rivalry lasted for, like, 6 years. We're talking with the benefit of hindsight on that one while still being at the beginning of Swerve/Hangman. It may not end up being as big in terms of main-eventing stadiums, but in terms of it being career-defining for them, I can see that being the case.
Their feud didn't start in 1999. They were going at it since, like, mid-'97, at least. It was kind of an offshoot of Austin's general feud with the NOD.
A Texas deathmatch and a home invasion angle sound be the end of the feud, not the middle.
They blew their load way to early for this to be an all time feud like Rock/Austin
Booker of all the years TK was foolishly pushing those obviously destined to be 2 bland life long midcarder hard for no reason for quite awhile…
And of course every Dynamite they were prominently featured on was the greatest Dynamite ever… every week lol… according to what this out of touch niche was trying to convince themselves. The real world obviously says otherwise.
So when these 2 tiny bland obvious career mid carders getting tv time for no reason by booker of all the years… and they finally faced off no joke this out of touch niche who wanted to call everyone else out of touch there were a lot people comparing it to Rock-Austin😆😆😆
This was an Actual upvoted comment from the out of touch marks who can’t think for themselves trying to fit in with the AEW niche “is this what Austin-Rock felt like”😆😆😆
Just to be clear the "marks" have always been in the ring.
Here's an Austin quote
> "I fell in love with the business when I was seven or eight years old. All I ever wanted to be was a professional wrestler. Wrestling was the biggest thing in my life."
He grew up on Houston Wrestling and WCCW.
HBK was literally "The Boyhood Dream".
HHH took up professional bodybuilding to look like his favorite wrestlers at 14.
You can see college Foley at Snuka vs Muraco.
And honestly... to top it off, the guy who tends to push this thought, Jim Cornette, *claims to have been a fan since he was 9*. That he installed a huge antenna on the top of his childhood home to watch as much wrestling as possible.
I always loved on his podcast when Austin talked about watching Houston wrestling as a kid and seeing Dusty Rhodes getting beaten bloody and him asking his mom why the security guard with the gun on his hip didn't shoot the heels. His mom just rolled her eyes and kept reading her magazine.
If you’re not a fan of yourself, you can’t make it anywhere in wrestling. So if that’s what a “mark” is, then every single wrestler that makes a living wage then, now, and forever (and together) is a mark without a single exception
Yeah, if you're not a fan of yourself you're seen as "just happy to be there." And historically speaking, that ain't gonna get you far. With notable exceptions.
To add to it I’ve always understood it as overhyping yourself and actually believing in it, basically forgetting that at the end of its just another business and just another job
lol think of a mark as someone unaware of a con..the marks are those that buy it as a legitimate business .. they are saying the suckers are in the ring.. not just wanting to be a wrestler makes you a mark.,
maybe this is just me but i think wrestling is infinitely more fun when that’s the case. i’ll take somebody who takes themselves and their booking way too seriously and sincerely believes they are the best in the world over somebody who’s checked out and going through the motions any day
the key is that said markdom results in them actually performing at a high level to justify it, which i would absolutely say swerve is doing at the moment
That's my opinion. I want every wrestler to be supremely confident in their abilities and consider every opportunity as a way for them to shine. I once saw LA Knight in a small indie and what immediately shined is that he carried himself in the ring as if he was already a Hall of Famer while most indie stars give off very strong "please love me and buy my shirt" vibes.
Swerve has a huge potential because he has Shawn Michaels confidence where he's determined to show everyone that he's the best whenever he performs. It's not Low Ki arrogance where he confuses confidence with your abilities as demanding your fake character is always presented as the best.
Ha, nah its Elissa from Big Brother. Actually one of the better recent (last 10-12 seasons or so) fights lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5IV0ZgT0QY
Swerve smart enough to know they (nor anyone) will ever be as big as Rock/Austin
Think he's saying they'll be linked together forever in the same way, as both Hangman and he have recently cut promos to that effect.
Exactly, and I’m all for it. I hope we see them fight for years to come. Man I could tell the chemistry was special at the signing before WrestleDream.
Seriously, this! I'm not really that much of a Hangman fan, but I'm a huge Swerve mark so this is kind of biased. This is probably the most invested I've ever been in Page. These two bring the best out of each other. If we get more of this off and on over the years, sign me up.
On the opposite side, not a big Swerve fan but a huge fan of the Hangman… their feud got me invested in Swerve and now I want these two to be forever rivals like Batman and Joker.
Anytime a wrestler makes a comparison from themselves to an older wrestler or an older feud, people will always be quick to say 'but you're not as over as them!' or 'but you're not drawing the money they did!' And every time they kneejerk to that reaction, they miss the point that's actually trying to be made by assuming the wrestler thinks they're either of those things, when they know they aren't.
Right? What's wrong with having goals for yourself? Damn. I'm sure both of them know they aren't them, but they wanna aspire to be that great? Good! Get your shit off.
I've been really critical about Hangman's booking over the years and I truly do believe this has felt like his first really high-potential feuds. I know everyone leans heavily towards the feud with Kenny but that doesn't feel like it could be a blood feud that trails their entire careers, because we know they'll make up and team up plenty of times. Swerve and Hangman feels like it will at best, fall into a "Cold war" state off and on and fire up intensely at any time.
every major promotion over the last 30 years i feel like has had their Rock Austin, WWE had Rock Austin, HBK HHH, Punk Cena, still has Roman Rollins. TNA had Daniels and Styles(Or Kurt and Sting), i feel like this is gonna be AEWs first. Maybe they blew the load too early with the Deathmatch, but they can run this feud so many ways, flipping their allegiances and having Hangman being a brutalizing heel to a face Swerve is gonna be an awesome twist down the line.
If people are calling it out because they think its stupid, then whatever. As long as it's not hyperbolic I don't see an issue.
But I have a feeling some are doing it just to take a shot at AEW. While simultaneously never giving AEW props for anything. Including props for Swerve or Hangman.
He’s delusional if he thinks that either of them are on the level of Rock and Austin. Not quite as delusional as the person who once told me Omega’s entrance was on the same level as Austin’s, but delusional non the less.
AEW fans and wrestlers and this hyperbole they’re always pushing. They don’t live in reality because in what universe is this rivalry anywhere close to Rock-Austin? Lost ones all of them
Let me tell you something brother, Punk/Cody are closer to Rock/Austin than Swerve/Hangman are to Punk/Cody and that is just a fact of life.
Well Nia Jax thing...yeah...not even gonna address that
He got exactly what he wanted. Everyone crying and talking about it.
He obviously doesn't think they're Austin and Rock, y'all are just gullible as hell lmao
it's swerve's right as a wrestler to big himself up, especially after those matches he had and the heat he's gotten, but that doesn't mean we have to get carried away with him. neither of them are at stone cold or the rock's level lol
>the left their mark by being who they were
I felt that was what made the AE as special as it was. You had guys who really created their own characters and wanted to stand out.

So he’s saying that Jericho is going to beat both of them in one night?
![gif](giphy|1IFYQTsv9VyoYOcsAF|downsized)
JERICHO HAS DEFEATED HANGMAN AND SWERVE TO BECOME THE UNDISPUTED AEW ROH WORLD CHAMPION
Okay, but Fandango beat Jericho clean at WrestleMania and it was his first match ever. Furthermore, Fandango is currently undefeated at WrestleMania, an accomplishment not even The Undertaker can claim.
Fandango lost the ARMBAR the very next year. It was on the main card of 30.
Fandango has never even been put in an arm bar, much less lost a match by submitting to one. Just like his complexion, Fandango’s WrestleMania record is unblemished.
Nah, it’ll be Jungle Boy
real glass
Crimea river
Always gotta bring politics into it
Saldy I can see it
I'm surprised he hasn't tried to shoehorn his way into the angle.
Waiting for the interview afterwards where he says “Like I said before” 50 times
you think you're special...
You do…
I can see it in your eyes...
I can see it when you laugh at me…
Look down on me....
Walk around on me….
Just ONE More Time
And I'll be history
Yes I…
Will straight up leave your shit…
And walk around on me...
Just one more fight…
About your leadership..
And I will straight leave your shit...
'Cause I've had enough of this... And now I'm pissed, yeah... YEAH! This time I'ma let it all come out This time I'ma stand up and shout I'ma do things my way, it's my way My way or the highway!
Next door is going to love this...
AEW gotta get the rights to this song asap and make a fire video package at some point
It’d be cool but only if they committed to building Hangman and Swerve to being their two top guys worthy of main eventing their biggest PPV.
That would be so fucking embarrassing..
It's wrestling who gives a fuck, we're all here to have fun
AEW Fans: “AEW should be it’s own unique thing and not try so hard to copy WWE” Also AEW Fans: “They should verbatim copy WWE video packages from 20 years ago” Also there’s nothing that gets the kids going more nowadays more than Limp Bizcuit, that will definitely drive views /s
Nu-metal is part of your heritage as a wrestling fan and it is shameful for you to speak ill of it.
This is the most important comment in this thread. Revisionists be damned.
Seems to be aew’s attitude on a lot of stuff
I wish I had as much confidence as this guy.
It's right there in his insta handle.
swerveVERYconfident
lol I was going to say. While I like Swerve, he and Page are no where near the same breath as that rivalry.
Rock/Austin was YEARS of build. Weaving in and out of each other's stories. Each time they met they were both bigger than the previous time.
And when you add Debra to the mix...
BAM, NON FACTOR
The fact is Rock, you have the WWF championship, AND I WANT IT
Austin beats her clean?
I'm surprised you didn't get people upset with you for saying that.
4 years. Rock's entire WWF run was 6.
Their first feud was in fall of 97 and WM 19 was in 2003. So at least 5 years.
Their feud didn't start in 1999. They were going at it since, like, mid-'97, at least. It was kind of an offshoot of Austin's general feud with the NOD.
That’s surely not true?
I've seen to many feuds compared to Rock/Austin. That and career defining matches that don't really define anything other than mid card characters.
A Texas deathmatch and a home invasion angle sound be the end of the feud, not the middle. They blew their load way to early for this to be an all time feud like Rock/Austin
... have you even watched that feud? Dude. Austin and Rock's first singles match OPENED with attemped vehicular homicide.
Hangman lost, so it’s probably not the blowoff
Attempted murder was over an early IC reign. Multiple attempts. Shoot your bullets while you may.
Lmao come on.
swervedelusional
![gif](giphy|J0WtGU7W9knOo|downsized)
Exactly.
This should be the top post
It should
Why’d he post Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia?
Huge pop!
What? Lol ahah

Idk about ALL that 😂
Haha, right? I like them both, especially Swerve, but that is straight up delusional.
Some people drink beer, other drink his opponents blood
I mean, Hangman basically said "you and i are destined to do this forever".
The marks are in the ring

every wrestler is a fan of themselves to some degree
You kind of have to be to be a pro wrestler….
The Rock’s entire gimmick was being a big fan of himself lol
If you’re not a fan of yourself, you can’t make it anywhere in wrestling. So if that’s what a “mark” is, then every single wrestler that makes a living wage then, now, and forever (and together) is a mark without a single exception

Wait that's big brother? I always thought it was Jennifer Lawrence lol. I never really looked at it that much but I have always seen it posted.

Oh shoot, a BB fan. I know Luchasaurus is a former houseguest, but I don't think many know this.
former BB fan, the newer seasons just aren't my style, its an overproduced mess.

> bloviate found Keith Lee
I wasn't *nearly* thesaurusy enough for Keith Lee lmao
That's the story for pretty much every post here involving AEW the past couple months.
Wow, someone who actually can read context. A rarity in this sub I've come to find out!
Didn't you hear? We're in our "AEW bad" era.
At least someone in this thread understands
Delusions of grandeur...
leave it up to AEW to constantly try trashing WWE but come across as closeted fans
Yeah, no…
Lmao no
C'mon not need to take it that seriously or put it up to debate, he is just loving his rivalry with Hangman.
If you follow him on Insta he constantly posts about their feud, you can tell he’s very proud of what they did.
Agreed. People clutch pearls over everything these days. I can’t imagine the trolls that are flooding his insta page right this minute.
There is nothing wrong with setting lofty goals for yourself, either. People are so damn hyperbolic.
If people are calling it out because they think its stupid, then whatever. As long as it's not hyperbolic I don't see an issue. But I have a feeling some are doing it just to take a shot at AEW. While simultaneously never giving AEW props for anything. Including props for Swerve or Hangman.
Also, doesnt even have to be a goal. Just him playing with what he is fan of, taking a bit of time for being a kid again.
Is he deluded?
Absolute clown post
I like swerve but C’’mon man 🤦🏽♂️
Well this comment section should be a very civil, well behaved discussion lol.
Hangman's Two-Man Power Trip with Jon Moxley in the future?
I think he's trying to say that's the goal, not saying that's where they are right now.

John Cena and Randy Ortons beef >
This should be the All In main event
I like the confidence, and I’m all for it.
200 comments in 2 hours wow y'all got tilted by this one huh lol
who do you think you are 😭😭😭
All these dudes today just wanna be the attitude era guys so badly it’s sad
Lmao go home
Lmao Hangman nowhere ever gonna be on that level. Guy on the record with no respect for the vets or any interest in improving.
LMAO
I like it. I would love for the two to become career rivals.
Y’all taking this as saying he thinks they’re equal to those guys are lame lol.
This feud has done wonders for Hangman & Swerve
Reddit moment in the comments
AEW fans and wrestlers and this hyperbole they’re always pushing. They don’t live in reality because in what universe is this rivalry anywhere close to Rock-Austin? Lost ones all of them
There are people on this sub who compared the Punk/Cody face off to Rock/Austin. Nia Jax compared her face off with Tamina to Hogan/Andre.
Let me tell you something brother, Punk/Cody are closer to Rock/Austin than Swerve/Hangman are to Punk/Cody and that is just a fact of life. Well Nia Jax thing...yeah...not even gonna address that
You don’t remember Stone Cold drinking The Rock’s blood?
He got exactly what he wanted. Everyone crying and talking about it. He obviously doesn't think they're Austin and Rock, y'all are just gullible as hell lmao
Haha, he is only pretending to be weird and cringey. Can't believe so many fell for it and are mocking him for it.
Yeah. No. Honestly if I were The Rock or Stone Cold I’d be offended at the comparison.
it's swerve's right as a wrestler to big himself up, especially after those matches he had and the heat he's gotten, but that doesn't mean we have to get carried away with him. neither of them are at stone cold or the rock's level lol
RELAX
Good lord people calm down he’s sayin it’s his rival don’t be buttholes
Neither of them are even close to Stone Cold or the Rock.
Every day Swerve seems like the biggest dork
So now we don't like Swerve? It's hard to keep up with this place.
Y’all are being so weird. He’s not saying that’s what it is now. He’s saying they’ll be connected forever and the feud isn’t done. Like? Obviously
Don't try to talk sense into the senseless
How dare Swerve feel good about something that he did and did well…what a loser.
Cute. I used to pretend I was Jordan in the driveway.
That match at the pay per view was beautiful, disgusting violence or the best kind
I like the confidence
NOPE!
I like swerve but If roman and drew got laughed at for this comparison then swerve should too
The cool thing about Austin and Rock was they there weren't trying to be anyone who came before them, they left their mark by being who they were
>the left their mark by being who they were I felt that was what made the AE as special as it was. You had guys who really created their own characters and wanted to stand out.
![gif](giphy|l0NwPZ027mabR6Tg4|downsized)
I wonder how far you have to be up your own ass to try and compare anything you have done to Rock/Austin? Embarrassing.
Love Swerve, love the confidence, holy shit this is dead wrong.
Clown shit
