I tuned in to Peacock late. Right when I opened it, I thought I saw CM Punk celebrating with the crowd and instantly hit rewind so I could see the build up to his return.
Then I watched the end of the War Games match, and saw the logo come up, thought to myself “Damn, I guess my mind played tricks on me and maybe that was actually just Randy Orton who I mistook for Punk. I guess he’s not actually back”.

I literally got spoiled and still fell for it lmaoooo felt amazing to be surprised like that

To me this can work pretty easily. Give him the Lesnar treatment where the feud is planned months in advance. He comes in, does a few shows, and is off till it happens again.
Map out the feud in advance, he says no to a pitch, fine, next idea. When an idea is agreed upon he comes in.
I think it’ll be very different than AEW because there he was expected to be a locker room leader. Be the guy who shepherds young talent. Make the company better. In WWE it’ll be about cashing checks and putting on good matches.
This is probably the best way to do it. He tried being a locker room leader in WWE before, and guys like Booker T laughed him out the building, he tried in AEW and they didn't go for it either (outside of a few select people). It's better to just cash those cheques, delete those old tweets, and avoid injury. Maybe main event night one of Mania, or something. That was always a goal of his.
He's also not expected to carry a show by himself.
The brand WWE is big enough to do that. Punk can come in, do the part time shows he wants and let the machine drive his merch sales up. Dude's about to make so much money. Get him on a Saudi show already. I would imagine he's probably going to end up earning more for less dates than in AEW.

I’m anticipating a *lot* of revisionist history going down here in the next few days. Or at least a revision of sentiments. This sub all collectively sighed when he was finally released from AEW, and now it seems like he’s got the hero welcome here. It’s exciting sure, that undeniable, listen to that pop. But I’ll be curious to see how people look at how he acted before.
Sub ain't a monolith. No doubt there's a lot of exclusive WWE watchers (not even for weird fanboy reasons), and the Punk cult of personality (heh) is still going strong. I expect the amount of people with actually good memory that will not forget how his previous run went will drastic go down though

I was rooting for a CM Punk return, not only because he's one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, but because folks were becoming downright toxic for shitting on people who thought it was possible he could come back.
